I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all. I need a little help making photo look more realistic. I have been asked if it is possible to remove the door, gorilla and extra kids from this photo so only the boy playing the marimba is left.

Using Corel PhotoPaint 11 I have managed to do the following:

Basically I cut out the kid and his marimbas. Then I created a wall using a portion of the original wall as the "paint" and the same with the carpet. It all looked too "smooth" so I fiddled around and eventually settled on adding noise which seems to make it look better. The kid had very straight edges so I used a thing called feather to blend him in a little better.

I am still not happy though. It still looks a little cut and paste to my liking. Particular areas of annoyance is the "halo" above his head and the flat look of the front marimba.

Is there anything I can do to make this look a little more realistic?

I have only ever cut out logo's before and worked with text. I do a lot of work with vector graphics, but this is a bit new for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there

If you use one of these there is a driver for it on the Epson site for Windows 8.1 but download THE DRIVER not the utility.

When installing you need to watch the popup window very quickly and select MANUAL when it asks you to choose the port (USB connection). If you don't do this the popup will disappear and you'll get a message saying "Printer driver being installed - please wait" --and then nothing happens.

So in the Manual port setup choose say USB0001 (Virtual printer port) or create one before running the driver installation.

Then the printer works just fine (Hurrah -- Now another nail in W7's coffin before I can finally get rid of it !!).

(BTW the Epson 1400 is a really excellent Printer - very fast and of course has individual cartridges -- it's really a PRO model - I don't do a huge amount of printing - but you still sometimes can't beat a beautifully printed A4 / A3 size print -- Mobile phone cameras are fine for what they do - but a real print once in a while is great).

I can't get my new laptop to recognize my old Kodak 500 Photo Printer as a printer. It shows up as a "device" instead, and so I can't print to it. Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix?

A:Kodak Photo Printer not recognized as printer

What driver did you install? There is no Win 7 driver on the Kodak site for your printer but the Vista driver should work. There's also a firmware update that you may need to install but you won't be able to do that until you get the computer to recognize the printer. Kodak Photo Printer 500

Thanks for taking the time and reading my post. I'll try to give you as many details as possible about my current situation.

So a few weeks back I had issues with my Hiti P510L photo printer on my laptop. It wouldn't recognize the printer via USB cord or even make that notification sound. I tried to reinstall and delete the existing printer drivers on the computer. Well long story short, the printer had to get sent out for repair. The USB connector was damaged.

Now I have the printer back and I am ready to use it. However, when I plug the printer into my laptop, it is displaying the printer in "Other Devices" with the title "USB Photo Printer". It should be under "printer devices" with the printer name. (hiti P510L). I used the installation disc that came with my printer and I get a message that said "Install printer driver fail!". I even downloaded the driver from the manufactures site and that installation gives me the same message. I removed the printer from devices and tried to install the driver without the USB cable plugged in. No luck. I just got done doing "Refresh your PC" under the update and recovery settings and still nothing. I went into Device Manager and got to the printer properties to select Update Driver and I got this message:

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it"

I then plugged the photo printer to my desktop that current... Read more

I am thinking about giving an old Fujitsu lifebook B110 a new lease of life, I have it since new and although it's old I am quite attached to it.

It has a Pentium 233MMX processor, and 160MB ram.It currently runs Win98.

The hardware meets the minimum specs for XP, but seriously, would it be usable? Or would it be like watching paint dry? The most it would do is a little light web browsing and maybe some email.

Also, I wonder if XP home would be any less demanding than say, Pro?

I know I should just go ahead and give it a try but I can't do anything at the moment until I get an external CD drive, so I am just thinking ahead.

if it's not up to running XP; I might give Puppy Linux a try.

I don't see any.

It does not seem faster.

Vista never uses more than 2 GB on my System, for all the 4 GB+ talk.
The virtual memory/page file is as big as ever.

Drivers take for ever to come out, and are usually last.

You'd need an electron microscope to notice the additional features in 64 bit editions of games versus their 32 bit counter parts.

Am I completely missing the point of 64-bit Vista?

What percentage of Vista installed today is the 64-bit edition? Is it increasing?

A:Is there any Realistic Benefit Using Vista 64 vs 32?

For me,the 64-bit version just Felt that little faster than the 32-bit Version.

If you are using 4GB RAM then u have to use X64 to make sure Vista uses all 4GB (Even if its not using it currently, with newer apps taking lots and lots of RAM,4GB will become a standard sooner rather than later).

Driver problems are more Vista Related (i.e both 32 and 64 bit) ,than only X64.
Yes the percentage of people using Vista X64 is increasing,In fact most people jumping onto Vista are getting the X64 version.

Question: how is a digital photo, in RAW, TIFF, or JPEG, transferred from the photo editor app to a printer, what does the printer do with it?

I have a Spyder3Pro PC monitor calibrator that analyzes the PC monitor display and develops color correcting calibration values so the monitor displays true colors (my monitor tends to have too much yellow). These values are used by the the printer (once they have been loaded into the printer) as the printer color "profile". I'm supposing the printer, using the profile, assigns values to the various inks resulting in a printed color image looking the same as it is displayed on the PC monitor.

Doesn't happen. I can't get the printed output to look the same.

So, I'd like to know more about how a printer works from the transfer of the image to the printout. Maybe it will help me to stop using up photo paper "trying to get it right".

Thanks in advance for those that respond. Appreciate it!

My wife just received an EPSON STYLUS 925 PHOTO PRINTER. She has made about 6 labels for CDs and printed one 8 X 10 picture. Looking at the ink monitor it seems that it has used about 1/4 of the ink. WHAT??? At that rate they should give the printer away with a pledge that we will buy all of our ink from them.

I'm about to replace my ancient Epson Stylus 850 inkjet with one of the new generation photo printers. I've had experience with most brands of inkjets over the last ten years and they all have had their problems relating to either reliability or software and often both. The old Epson certainly provided the best images but its quirkiness and long drawn out warmups, ect nearly drove me nuts.

I love my little Canon dye sub for 4x6's but it is beginning to do wierd things, too.... just wearing out. My "all in one" HP sends me around the bend with software glitches probably related to XP, but produces decent images when it decides to co-operate. It has taken to eating Costco glossy photo paper (all sizes) but is OK with Kodak of the same weight.

This new printer will be dedicated to photographic images and I'm willing to spend the bucks for quality. Anybody got suggestions WRT brand, model, etc. Thanks.

A:Choosing a photo printer....

have had pretty good luck for a couple years now with a Canon iP6600d. I think it has been replaced with an newer model. Ink isn't cheap, and you can't use those places that trade your empty cartridge with one they sell because of a microchip in the ink tank itself.

I just received this printer and installed it on my Dell Dimension 4600 and It operates fine. However, I keep getting -- every time I boot up -- that it can't install the "disk drive" drivers. The printer is listed 4 times on the hardware profile under "disk drives" with exclamation points, each of which states that there are no drivers installed. I have tried installing the drivers, removing the printer and un-installing the software and re-installing several times, but each time I get the same notices. I haven't tried the smart card reader function yet, but I suspect this aspect of the printer may be causing the problem. I can't even open a ticket with Dell since they don't yet recognize my express code for this printer.

I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

My wife wants a portable photo printer for her birthday. Not battery powered, but one that can be easily carried to shows, etc. Our current system works fine at home but isn't very portable (download pictures to PC, select, and send to printer). We'd still use that for 'significant' pictures, the one's my wife's interested in printing are snapshots (they don't even need to be saved).

I suppose she could get a laptop, but then she'd need to worry about connections, etc. I agree that a photo printer that prints directly from the camera would be better but am adamantly opposed to the Kodak model she prefers. AFAIK the dock only works with Kodak cameras, right?

At work, we constantly swap memory cards & I've noticed that they seem to wear out much faster than the ones I have at home-presumably because at home we download the pictures from the camera without removing the card. I've seen some printers advertising PictBridge which appears as if it would allow this, but how does it work? Our current printer allows printing directly from the memory card (which we use occasionally-generally for visitors) but it's clumsy. Would PictBridge work any better?

Anyway, I'd appreciate any recommendations. Particularly ease of use. Thanks.

How do I get realistic distance representation using GIMP?

Thanks for your input to my postings. I am using GIMP 2.8. I am not an expert.

I have two images (image1 & image 2). I have same object in image 1 & image 2, but the object is displaced between images. I used GIMP to overlay both the images to figure out the displaced distance. Here is what I did.

I created the 1st image from clipboard, I open a new layer and placed the 2nd object. I adjusted the opacity to provide transparency between image 1 & image 2 . I find image 2 is layered on top of image 1, but the displaced distance is not representing realistically on layered image. I tried with zoom. Images look odd.

How do I make the images to be sync to displaced distance?

I am attaching the layered image for review.

Hello everyone!

I am about to buy a 21 inch monitor. A secondhand one from yahoo auctions in japan.
There are many options, but as a foreigner here in tokyo I prefer to go safe and get an old usual hp.

I intend to use it for spreadsheets and every pixel space counts for me.

The question is,
My first option, Hp p1100 model does not support 2048x1536 at flicker free refresh rates. Is around 100$.

hp p1110 or later support 2048x1536 at 72hz or more. around 150$.

Can one use 2048x1536 with a 21 inch monitor for spreadsheets or general use? I mean realistically. If it is an unrealistic resolution then I will not bother about it and get the cheaper one.

Your experiences would be appreciated.

A:21inch monitor 2048x1536 realistic?

If $50 critical for you go ahead and get the 1100 .You can run the CRT at a lower resolution and still have the extra territory.
But get the 1110 if you can. Remember, at the higher resolution ,spreadsheets may be too small so you might have to increase font size.but the letters will be nice and crisp.
