Apple zoom tools for windows.

Q: Apple zoom tools for windows.

hello all

just the other day I saw my dad squinting his eyes looking into his 14inch laptop screen.

I can't bare seeing him like that. so I'm looking for a magnifier that with hope help him with his work productivity and doesn't get in the way like most magnifier does.

I'm looking for suggestions of any of your favourite tools that lets me zoom in and see text clearly. or icons or those long articles.

I particularly like the way the Mac OSX does it. where you hold the command key and scroll your mouse. it makes things to easy and you don't have to worry about monitor space, easy to turn off and on. I hope to look for something just like that for windows.

any suggestion anyone?

Preferred Solution: Apple zoom tools for windows.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Howdy, my brother! He says the virus on his Y!Mail is hardware independent - and modeled the behavior he found at the motel - i.e. when he attempts to write a new email or forward one, a script inserts nuisance text in that message. After he experienced that on my pc, web browser windows now run a script which hijacks the Zoom-in / Zoom out control and locks-up at either the zoom in or out (out is worse) because you only see a corner of the raster.I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, AdAware, and my installed Avira AntiVir Guard - none of which detected anything but cookies. I installed some new camcorder software which rebooted the system. But after the Windows start-up screen, the screen just goes BLACK and the system is unresponsive. I booted in Safe Mode with Networking, downloaded and ran HijackThis to get log. I ran Dr.WebCureIt - which detected nothing in this mode. I have timely news video for CNN iReports Independence Day coverage which I seek to transfer from my camcorder to edit on this tower - if you would please help me get it back working again. Does anyone know how to manipulate the modern UI zoom feature in windows 8.1 ? This either by script or by regkeys?

Some more details about the problem I have :
14"laptop with Full HD monitor (1080p) -> windows decides that de default zoom behaviour should be 150%...

Now I have found how to counter it in the desktop and desktop Application (add regkey : DesktopDPIOverride) there I can set the value to -2 and it will be 100% zoom and the user can still change it.
Now the ModernUI and Lockscreen (not start screen) don't follow this zoom. To change this you need to go to pc settings - pc and device - display. and there at the bottom you can change the zoom from default to smaller. What I would like is to modify this
behaviour so that the default becomes what It should be small. (the default value it has when you have a 700p pannel of the same size)
This is quite urgent and I hope someone got an answer on this... I hate how windows forces a laptop to look like a tablet :/
Thank you !

I'm running a Toshiba 1905-S301 laptop (2 gig speed, 1 gig mem, 300 gig hd) with Windows 7 (32 bit) I thought I'd try the Zoom 4411 wireless-n USB adapter. It works great and I have the advertised transfer speed (54) for using on a USB 1.1 port.

My problem happens when I shut down Windows when the adapter is plugged in. A few seconds after the normal shutdown sequence begins I get a blue screen showing a system minidump. It never goes into shutdown, but instead reboots and brings up Windows 7 again with the failure noted as an unexpected shutdown sequence. If I pull the adapter and then go for a shutdown the process takes longer than usual (over a minute vice 15 seconds), but it eventually completes the shutdown and doesn't reboot on its own. Nothing appears to not work after the reboot and I can reacquire a network connection with the Zoom device any time I want.

Booting and shutting down with the adapter never installed is normal. An interesting failure, but one I'd like to eliminate.

I heard that Windows 8 includes a new feature called Semantic zoom. Is it possible to play with this feature if I install Windows 8 Ultimate and by using mouse keys.

I want to know whether this zoom feature only works with touch devices.

A:Semantic zoom in Windows 8

Hello Windowsguy, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Not sure mouse keys would work with Semantic Zoom.

The Semantic Zoom interaction is performed with the pinch and stretch gestures (moving the fingers farther apart zooms in and moving them closer together zooms out), or by holding the Ctrl key down while scrolling the mouse scroll wheel, or by holding the Ctrl key down (with the Shift key, if no numeric keypad is available) and pressing the plus (+) or minus (-) key.

If you like, the links below can help give more details and information about Semantic Zoom.

Ive also tried to change it in regedit, but it doesnt help.

Ive read other threads about this issue, but these threads were started a while ago. Maybe there is some new solutions.

I just installed service pack 2, and I guess the issue appeared after the installation

Someone knows how to get the zoom to stay at 125% permanently?

Last night, somehow my zoom was changed. My start menu used to have only about 4 rows and now there are six rows and the tiles are now all much smaller. Generally everything is smaller and a new registry entry has appeared in

Called 'Layout_MaximumAvailibleHeightCells' with a hexadecimal value of 6. I know this is something to do with my problem as I have seen a few tutorials on changing the amount of rows. If I change it, it reverts back to 6 again when I log in to my account. I have tried changing the resolution, but it was the same before the sizes changed and as I have Eyefinity I can't put it down as that would make it repeat on all three screens, and the resolution is at its maximum. It is not to do with the 'Change the size of all items'. It applies the login screen as well.

TL;DR Everything is smaller, and nothing to do with resolution/accessibility, nor the AMD Catalyst Control Panel.

A:[SOLVED] Windows 8 Size & Zoom

Hi (and welcome to the forums)

Why not try a run of System Restore? It usually works fairly well for getting settings back to previous values, and it doesn't bother your personal files.

The steps below are for computers running any version of Windows 8 except Windows 8 RT (which mostly is used on the Microsoft tablets called "Surface" ... ["Surface Pro" tablets run Windows 8 Pro]. System Restore isn't available for Windows RT.

I'll assume that your computer isn't running Windows RT, and is running Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro.

To restore your PC using System Restore

1. From a touchscreen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen to produce the "charms" bar, and then tap the Search magnifying glass icon. (Or, if you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down to produce the "charms" bar, and then click Search.) Enter Recovery in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Recovery.

2. Tap or click Open System Restore, and follow the prompts. Pick a restore point from before the unwanted changes.

If the changes came about without any action on your part, you might also want to scan for malware, as its presence can cause all sorts of unpredictable behavior. Check in Device Manager, too, in case you might have a device (especially your display or graphics/video card) whose driver is generic rather tha... Read more

OK, I've checked the other threads re: Zoom Browser and have tried all the tricks and ideas, but no success. First I kept getting an error message about not being registered and now it's the wrong string or something. I've d/l'ed the newest version and it DOES NOT work. Shut down my firewall: no success. I've cleaned out my registry, clean boot, more uninstalls and re-installs and looked on line for more fixes. Even tried my other programs to see if anything else didn't work. Nope! EVERYTHING else is fine! Also, all of Canon's answers I checked into don't work. And I've also seen that I'm not the only one.

I have NO idea what the problem could be. It DID work fine until I received the latest MS updates. (I'm HIGHLY considering NEVER again receiving any more updates from Microsoft as I tend to spend more time fixing things after the updates than the updates are worth. Everything from CHKDSK going into "lets start at every boot" mode to other programs getting glitchy. (Do they even test the updates before uploading them?)

Anyway, I don't want to do a system restore because I've recently d/l'ed some important programs and - like I had to do once in the past - I don't want to explain why I have to re-register the programs. (Can't they tell it's the same computer????)

A:Windows and Apple

The main reason Windows has problems like this is because people don't like to see them having a practical monopoly on various things. The courts make decisions on this, and you end up with an operating system being partially disabled, or a piece of software disallowed in a "bundle". It's just another example of many basically nonsensical things that happen nowadays.

Why it doesn't happen to Apple? Apple is not Microsoft!

I have been using Windows 7 quite happily but I am going to buy a new laptop. I went into my local store thinking I would buy one with Windows 8 but was convinced by an assistant trained by Apple who used to use Windows 7 that OS X was definitely the way to go. He showed me round OS X and I had a play myself and I have to say I was very impressed.

But of course he is an OS X convert, trained by Apple and bound to say it is better. So, in order to add some balance to the argument going on in my head I thought I would ask you guys to tell me why you think that Windows 8 is better than OS X?

PS I had a play with Windows 8 also at the store and was told that the best way to close say a browser when using a touchscreen is to swipe downwards from the top of the screen or use a keyboard shortcut. I was told that pressing the Windows key takes you back to the Start Screen but doesn't actually close the browser. Is this true, I don't mind losing the X in the top right hand corner but is what I was told the new solution, surely not?

I am looking forward to your thoughts guys, especially anyone that has converted from Apple to Microsoft, do these guys exist anywhere?

A:Apple's OS X or Windows 8

To actually close the App you drag it down to the lower left corner or swipe in from the left edge, right click and select close.

Hi. I'm new to this forum so not sure if this is the right place. Just purchased an Apple MacBook and want to use Windows 7 on it so I can edit a website I built with my PC. Otherwise I would have to rebuild the entire website because I used Yahoo Sitebuilder that requires a PC with Windows 7 to edit it.
By using Bootcamp, Apple says I can instal Windows 7 but the installation requires the complete Windows 7 disc and I only have the recovery discs. I bought a new PC several months ago that had Windows 7 preinstalled but I sold it. I paid for Windows 7 in the purchase price of the PC. Do I have to re-purchase a complete Windows 7 program or can I somehow use the one that came with my former PC that I already paid for but now sold? I am old and not too computer savvy so simplicity would be appreciated. Thank you.

One thing that drove me crazy when using windows vs say a mac is that all mac programs use the search, spotlight feature really well.

For example, when launching UNISON, a usenet program for Apple OS, and you typed "shooter" you would instantly get every instance of the word "shooter" in a matter of seconds. On Vista, it was a completely different story. Using Forte Free agent, it could take up to 10 minutes, sometimes longer, as it searched out every instance of "shooter" before showing you all the hits/posts that you were looking for.

Just wondering if the file indexing/search has changed in Windows 7 compared to Vista and if developers would embrace this if it works.

Would also like information on any usenet programs for windows 7 that may work.

Let me re-phrase - does anyone know if the Windows 7 architecture for searching has been updated? In Vista it took a while to span, search across all discs and am wondering if search had been updated.

Thanks -

The second question is, what is the best USENET program one can use for Windows 7 or Vista? Forte is very out dated in my opinion.

Since the 3.18 release on December 7, 2014, just under 115,000 changesets have been merged from 5,062 individual developers representing nearly 500 corporations. The top developers work for, in this order, Intel, Red Hat, Linaro, Samsung, and SUSE. Thousands of developers still work on Linux independently of large corporations.

In the last year and a half, there have been many significant Linux improvements. These include:
Live patching support.

Persistent-memory device support.

When my neighbor's Apple Mac died he gave me the hard drive. It's a Quantum Fireball ST. Along with all the other stuff on the label is the Apple symbol.

I want to use this in a Windows PC, but so far have been unable to format this drive. Although on the startup DOS screens the drive appears, when I try to format it I get a message saying "no hard disks present".

Is there a way to format and use this on a Windows machine, or is it exclusively for Apple?

OK, occasionally Microsoft and Apple have been known to have their, um..."differences?..." but Windows 7 did manage to communicate with my iPhone 4S quite well. I am now trying a pretty simple task in Windows 8, copying a jpeg from the "camera roll" on my iPhone to a W8 desktop folder.

All looks fine, when connected via USB the phone is recognized as a "Portable Device" in File Explorer, I can drill down to the folder with all my images, and preview and/or select any of them with no problem. From there, whenever I attempt to copy an image to my desktop the screen flashes black and then opens "back" to my desktop and File Explorer has closed.

Have any of you had better luck?

(I have not yet installed any Apple Software but this shouldn't really be necessary, should it?)

A:Windows 8 and Apple iphones

I have a iPhone as well and use it with my Windows 8 occasionally, but only through iTunes. Try doing it through there.

This question refers to the latest thin USB keyboard
How easy is it to remap all the buttons within windows. I understand this is very easy within boot camp but not so easy within windows normally as there aren't specific remapping drivers available on general release. Is there any software that'll comfortably remap keys such as the exposť key, volume key etc. to corresponding commands in Vista?

I use Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and I've always wanted an Apple Mac VHD. After weeks of searching I've not come across any. Does anybody know where (if anywhere) I can get one? I did hear once about Windows not being able to run Mac's, but it's a VHD so I thought that might not apply in this case.

A:Solved: Apple VHD for Windows?

Not possible without illegal hacks.
