Lenovo system interface make my hard disk running super slow ?

Q: Lenovo system interface make my hard disk running super slow ?

I am using lenovo laptop from last december and I am unhappy with first day from using it. the hard disk is running super slow. So After a lot of research and checking I remove the System interface software and my computer perform normal. My 35K Asus laptop perform faster than 45K Lenovo laptop. (Even lenovo laptop is 7th gen and Asus is 6th gen). Today I installed it back System interface and now when I backup (one key recovery). 9 hours is gone and the software say 6 more hours to complete the backup. Now if I remove it, it take only 1 hours 30 minutes to finish the backup. so it's performing 10% of what it perform without having system interface. Can someone from lenovo explain why they make garbage things like this. When I read about bluefish and now this thing happening blow my mind.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Dell Inspiron laptop came with Windows 7 installed in 2011. I had Windows 10 installed via download in August 2015. At first the speed was fine. Now my laptop is so slow that it has become almost unusable. I often click on something and have to wait 10 to 20 seconds for a reaction. Just shutting down can take 5 minutes. Looking in the task manager I see under Processes that my memory is 92% full, and the System process is using more than 180 Mb of memory. I have tried many things to speed up my laptop. I tried modifying the paging file size for virtual memory to a lower size, but then I kept getting low memory warnings every few minutes and my apps would close if I ignored the warnings. I end up needing a large paging file size (8000 to 16000 Mb), way more than the recommended size of 1396 Mb, to avoid low memory warnings. So of course Windows 10 is shuffling a lot of data back and forth to the disk, slowing everything down. I eliminated every app from opening on Startup that I don't need, although of course I don't know what many of the apps listed in the Startup menu do so I leave them alone. My anti-virus eats a lot of memory but I need that. Since I'm in Europe we don't have Cortana so that's not a problem. Can anyone recommend ways to reduce the high demand on memory by the System process? If so, please help, and using layperson's terms. I have a Ph.D. but not in computer engineering.

A:System running super slow with Windows 10

Hi, certainly you're quite right that if your PC thinks it's starved of memory it will be very busy swapping disk to RAM & v. versa. (page file).

Can you please
a. say how much RAM is equipped on your PC
b. post a screen shot (picture) of your task manager full screen height - click on the 'Memory' tab to organise by highest at top

Have a look at any programs you recognise that are taking up a lot of RAM. Do you need these running?
Thanks

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

System is running horrible slow. The hard drive light is on solid for 2 seconds, blinks off, on again for 2 seconds etc..
I tried to use system restore to go back to am earlier date. After I selected the date it said it was starting restore but would never start. I tried the same in safe mode and via a windows 7 recovery CD. Same results.
I then ran a full checkdisk on the hard drive. It got stuck during part 4 of file on checking files.
I'm now running a full hard drive surface scan via partition wizard.
Note this happened a month ago..exactly the same problems . I gave up and re installed a fresh copy of windows.
Everything was good until now.
What can I do? Please help!

A:dell runs super slow. hard drive light always on. system restore won't start.

From what you have posted it looks like there could be a problem with the HDD.

Please download and run SeatTool for Windows.

When the website opens scroll down till you find the I Accept button and click on it.

If you scroll down below this button you will find instruction for installing this.

Once you install this program you will see an image similar to the one below.

1.  SeaTools for Windows will search for hdds on your computer.  Please remove any external storage devices connected via USB port.

2.  Detected Drives will list the hdd/s found.  Place a check mark in the drive you want to run the scan on.

3.  You will see Basic Tests above Detected Drives, move the mouse pointer over this.

4.  A menu will open with options for different scans, please click on Long Generic Test

5.  This will start the scan.  When the scan is complete you will see the result under Test Status , please post the results in your topic.

6.  When the scan is complete you will see Test results, post the status.  If it is green it has passed the scan.

7.  Click on Help, then click on View Log File.  If the scan failed take a screen shot of the Log File and post it in your topic.

Recently my home system (used by everyone there) went from running well to running slow.

Everything seems to lag. An application is lauched and the system pauses, kinda "thinks" about it and loads it slowly. This can said about everything included xp (sp2) startup and shut down. Within applications sounds skip and graphics go choppy. The only other noticeable thing is the HD is working overtime even when the computer is apparently idle. I had this happen before and my solution at that time was reinstall. Any ideas or usual suspects behind it? (virus, trojan or the result of just simply powering off the system from desktop)

Thanks in advance.

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 and have been running a secondary HDD as an add on for well over 2 years now, but now all of a sudden the 2nd drive is running a lot slower than the primary drive. If I am playing music from this drive it will skip randomly and when copying data to and from the drive the mouse movement becomes choppy and everything slows down.

So far I have tried removing the drive and replacing it with another spare I borrowed from a friend and this was doing the same. I have checked my drive in another machine and it works perfectly. I then swapped out the IDE cable and still no difference. Both disks are running off the same IDE cable and have been for some time, I really don't understand why all of a sudden this has started to happen.

Any help on this will be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 that is a couple of years old. It came with a 120Gb had drive installed. I recently bought a Maxtor 250 Gb drive to add as a data disk. I bought a new ribbon cable and have installed the new drive. Hi all,
following problem:

My computer is running very slow.  It happened suddenly from one day to another.

I checked for a virus or similar with Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy and AVG. Nothing was found (checked another time a week later, same result).

The Task Manager showed that only 1,5 of 4 GB RAM are used. The CPU is at nearly 0%. That seems not to be a problem.
But when I open the Ressource Manager it shows that my hard disk has 100% time with maximal activity without writing much (most of the time: nothing). While being inactive (I am doing nothing except viewing the Ressource Manager) there are some tasks which bother me (mainly svchost local service network restricted). Sometimes they go away and the computer is working properly, sometimes not. Another important point is that the answering time of the tasks who are doing smth with my hard disk are often over 5000 (the record was 16.000).
Even if my computer is working nearly properly (you can work but need to wait for each website 2 minutes and for a program to start nearly 5 minutes) you often see the "no response" (don't know how it is called in english, sorry for that!) at the upper window of the program.

I downloaded Speedfan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpeedFan) and did an online analysis. Here are the results:

My wifes laptop uses windows XP. Her system is running really slow, so I defragmented the hard drive, and cleared internet cookies and files. I also installed and ran McCaffee anti virus. Still it is running slow and so instead of the 500meg of ram in the system, I took that out and put in 2Gig of ram. STILL, the system runs slow with not big noticable improvement.

Also the system is slow to start up. Once you login to windows from starting up the system, it takes about 2 minutes for the 10 desktop icons to appear on the desktop. At first they are displayed as white rectangles that represent the icons. Then finally the intended icons display. Then after that, again the system is slow and you can hear disk thrashing in the background (Although not as loud as when there was only 500meg)

So can anyone tell me what the problem is? My wife is very good with her laptop. She has about 80 gig of free hard drive space and has only used up about 20gig.

HELP!

What do you mean 'thrashing'? Is it a sort of clicking sound? If the hard drive is dying, it could make noise.

You can first try this:
http://www.howtogeek.com/74523/how-to-disable-startup-programs-in-windows/

Then you can try removing all the junk files on it using CCleaner or BleachBit or something similar. If that doesn't help, I would recommend dual booting this PC with Ubuntu 14.04. I actually published a tutorial on doing that here:
http://69.107.93.24/Blog/52015/

You could then use that as your primary OS.

Hi guys, this is the first time I have faced such a powerful enemy.
My laptop HDD keeps running all the time. System restore has been disabled. Windows explorer keeps restarting. Norton AV has been disabled. PC takes an hour to restart.
Ctrl+Alt+del takes a long time to show up and does not work sometimes.
When I try to cancel smss.exe process, I get Access denied message.

If I try to do any windows related operation like open control panel etc, the windows explorer restarts and I also get a bunch of error messages all windows related like -
Host process for windows services stopped working
Reliability analysis metrics calculation executable stopped working and was closed.

If I hard restart, I have gotten to a clean start once out of say 6 restarts. But then the PC restarted overnight and in the morning, hard disk was spinning constantly.

I ran a trendmicro scan, nothing turned up.
Installed pareto logic AV, the damn thing keeps updating forever.
Same thing with norton.

Is my OS screwed? or is it a virus?

My OS is VISTA Home premium
Laptop is compaq CQ50 142US

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me with this.
I need to make a super quick boot (any WIN OS, preferably XP) system. I'm talking from PWRBTN to Operational within 10 seconds.
This system is not really going to do anything besides running a single application.
-It doesn't need to use the network
-It doesn't need to print
-It doesn't need to have users
-It doesn't need to have visual themes
-It doesn't need to play games
...and so on
However is has to
-Play audio (any codec, but only one, e.g. mp3)
-Play video (any codec, but only one, e.g. avi)(trough mainboard vga, no graphics card)
-Use mainboard features like e.g. ports(serial, parallel, usb...)

Now, do I go for some kind of stripped version of windows, or do I install a normal version and then strip it down, or anyone has some better idea.

The machine running this system would be more than adequate for the job, e.g. DualCore, DDR2.

The main thought is that it has to boot extremely quickly.
Any help or plain thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

I have just got my Y700 for about two week. Last week it has been sent to service center because of abnormal speaker "dat" sound. It had been solved by technician by updating the BIOS. But now there are another problems occur. 1) Disk Usage constantly been used up to 100% although fewer program running. I have tried many method like blocking antivirus, set up virtual memory and stop the superfetch service but it still remains unchanged. 2) Lag window interface. When I need to open some software I have to wait for laptop hanging for 3-5 seconds every time. 3) Abnormally long window update time. The update runs at least half an hour for installing. If there are any solutions to these problems, I will be thankful and appreciate to your help. Thank you!!!!!!!

I just installed two hard drives in my Windows xp64 machine and now the file system is running really slow. Like, if I open My Computer it takes forever to load. Anything I try to do takes a really long time. Even just highlighting drives takes a several seconds to register.

Stopped pretty much all non-essential applications from starting, but it doesn't seem to help.

I currently have five internal hard drives and two external drives totally around 2000GB. The only thing I can think is that the two new drives are SATA drives while all the others are EIDE. I don't see why that would cause problems, but I thought maybe.

Anyone have any ideas?

What is the rated output of your PSU? The way you now have it setup will need a lot of power to push it.

I posted on another site that offered help, but no one has even looked at my post yet. They required a RSIT run, which the log.txt is below. I also have hijack this and can run it real quick if you still need it. I run Super AntiSpyware , like I always do to see if there is a problem and also MBAM, but running both and clearing them didn't help any. Maybe it isn't malware, but there is definitely a problem because it.....is.....soooooo.......sLooooooowww!! Please let me know if you need that hijack too. I was just under the impression that RSIT and HIJACK THIS are the same type program.
I would appreciate ANY help. Thank you. Kimberley

First time in ages.. My PC is running SO incredibly slow. Not sure what is going on. I have a good anti-virus on it so unlikely a virus slipped through although my PC is running painstakingly slow. It takes ages for a page to load and on top of that many times in a day the pages freeze, and then after a little bit unfreeze. Very annoying. This only started happening today but I find it very frustrating. Can anyone help me? I do not want to run EasyClean as have been told this can sometimes delete necessary items from the registry.

Thanking you in advance.

A few days ago I was watching TV on my computer (Media Center) when everything went black and froze up for 5+ minutes. I had to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to get it unfrozen. When I re-started it I got a message saying "The system has recovered from a serious error" or something like that. I immediately ran Spybot and Avast anti-virus. Spybot came back clean and Avast came back with a worm/virus and one adware which I moved to the chest. The same day the latest Windows Update downloaded and installed.

Ever since all that happened my internet is either veryyyy slow or comes back that it can't load the webpage I requested. When I get the can't load I click on refresh and bang the page usually comes up instantly. Just to give you an example when I tried to register on your website the first 2 times I clicked on submit registration I got the page cannot display then finally the 3rd time it went thru. This is just so frustrating and I'm not sure where to look or what to do to troubleshoot the problem . We have a second computer in our house hooked up to the same cable via router and there are no problems with that computer at all. I also tried to do a system restore and it won't do it...... it goes thru all the steps then when the computer comes back up it says the restore could not be completed.

Please help me figure this out !!

Thanks
Stace

Go to the Malware removal and hijackthis board
http://forums.techguy.org/54-malware-removal-hijackthis-logs

Explain your situation and post the log .
If you can find in the avast log what virus and adware it found that would be an item you should include.
It sounds like the virus may have changed some things on your computer which are causing this problem.
Also, empty your temp internet files , and any cookies you do not absolutely need (tools , internet options/ general ) You may just have some bad pages cached.

Its Windows XP pc that has a stock Hard drive of 70 GB and stock ram of 256 (just to give you an idea of how old it is) its ONLY used for web surfing (as no one with a brain would try doing anything "heavy" with those specs). Yet unlike day one (when it ran just fine) now it cant even do that. WIndows start up is slow but bearable, clicking on IE literally takes 5 mins before the browser finally pops and about twice as long for a page to fully load (despite having great broadband internet). Also when IE is tarting a get a pop up saying most of my memory is being used (which is probably why its slow). Yet if I close out of IE (which isnt even updated to IE 8 I believe) and try Firefox instead IT runs just fine and no "low memory" pop up. So I'm gonna upgrade its RAM to 2gb (the max its motherboard can handle) and see if that makes a difference in speed. While Im waiting for tha to arrive may as well make sure viruses or malware are ruled out (after all like i said on day one it it functioned "fast" and fine, so SOMETHING had to change between now and then to slow it don). Lastly it still has 60 GB free out of 70 GB total which means hardly any room is being used yet it runs as slow as it does.
So Ive done the scans here are the logs (theres lots of them):

I recently cleaned my computer of dust using compressed air now the cpu is running very very slow.

A:CPU is running super slow now

Do you have benchmarks, or any readings what so ever to prove this. If not that's where we need to start, if you clean it up it should be able to have more room to breathe so it should stay relatively cool, can you monitor temperatures?

Is there a specific application you where able to run amazingly fast and now it doesn't work like it was before?

I recommend you going back to your tower and make sure everything is nicely connected and plug in.

My friends computer is running really slow all of the sudden. It's maybe a year old and he has Windows XP-Home and is currently using America Online 8.0 as is ISP. I defragmented his harddrive already. I'm thinking he must have all kinds of spyware on his computer or something so I downloaded Spybot S&D and it downloaded and installed but for some reason at the very end when it said finish and scan, and I clicked ok, I got this Error message that said access denied or something like that. And when I click on the shortcut icon on the desktop it wont open up-I get the hourglass for a second and then it goes away but nothing opens. Any suggestions on what I should do or what the problem might be? Any info would be helpful.
Thanks!

A:Computer running super slow!

Try rebooting into Safe Mode and see if Spybot can do its work in there. Also download AdAware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com update and run that in Safe Mode as well. Delete all his Temporary Internet files, Cookies and History. Right click the AOL icon in the notification area, go to Utilities and Clear Browser Cache. Go Start>Run type in $temp$ and delete everything in the right hand pane of the next window. The defrag the hard drive.

Then in Explorer, create a new folder in Programme Files and call it HJT. Go to http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html and download Hijack This, unzip it to that folder and run it. Copy and paste the resulting log back here and don't let HJT fix anything until you here from someone in this forum.

I have nothing major running that I can find, and this happens when trying to open something as basic as FireFox.

Hi...I was helped with a BSOD problem in the XP section...I finally figured out it was a driver in my external drive causing the crashes..I removed it and now the computer is stable but very slow..Opening explorer or any programs or website takes about 20 seconds..I scanned with several malware programs and all were clean except 2..Spyware doctor claimed it found TDSS and Advanced System Care found Win32swizzor.au but said it removed it..A second scan then was clear... I also ran a complete system scan with Avira and no virus was found. I can't get to the bottom of why this thing is so slow..I checked ram with Memtest and it showed no errors..The computer runs fine in safe mode with networking. Is there a way to completely rule out malware or virus problems? Thanks for any help.

A:Windows XP running SUPER slow!!! HELP!

First of all, you are running HijackThis out of a temporary directory. Please download the HijackThis below which will extract into its own directory, or you wish please create a folder in My Documents and call it Hijack (or something similar). Then extract HijackThis into the folder you have created and run it from there. The reason for this is that Hijackthis cannot create backup files whilst it is being run from a temporary folder.

When you have done this, then make sure all browsers and windows are closed except for HijackThis and please wait for a HijackThis expert to assist you in doing any repair work necessary, they are the people with the little Gold Shield next to their name.Click to expand...

I see you have only 2 GB of ram and thats its fairly slow - that might be your "bottleneck". Win 7 likes lots of ram. And You are running 64 Bit windows so you need even more ram. You dont mention your processors speed in your "System Specs"

Good luck joelkat
