I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Suddenly when I tried to turn on my laptop (yoga 900, 13ISK), I see the Lenovo logo for few seconds then the screen goes black, and it does not load windows, I tried to use the reset button on the side of the tablet to enter bios settings, the menu flashes for a second and then the screen goes black again. I dont hear any fans running in the back ground. When I click the power button it turns off immediately, I tried to disconnect the battery and connect it again but the problem persists, I cannot access anything to try a hard rest. Any help is appreciated.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro-1370 that will power on, they keyboard lights up, but the screen only displays the Lenovo logo.  The system does not boot further or give any error message.  I can leave it on until the battery dies and it will just sit on the Lenovo logo and go no further.  None of the key combinations for going into the BIOS are responsive.  I have tried several variations of hitting the reset button on the side based on suggestions I have found on the forums.  Does anyone know what could be the issue?  Is the motherboard shot?  If so, can a replacement board be ordered?  The unit is well outside of warranty.  Thanks,Wayne

I'm trying desperately to recover my system.  The system will not get past the startup logo and looping symbol.  I have entered bios and turned off fast boot.  I have created a bootable W-10 stick and the bios recognizes it.  It is first in boot order.  On power up the logo appears then the screen turns black forever.   I have also disconnected the battery and reconnected after several hours.  I have pressed the NOVO reset hundreds of times.  Thankyou anyone who can help.

Hi,In the end of the day I turned off my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, everthing was working well, and a left it connected to the power supply. Half hour later I disconnected from the power plug. The next day when turn it on it stays stopped in the starting black Lenovo Screen. The light from keyboard works, and I can turn it of/on thru the keyboard buttons, but nothing else works and the screen keeps always on the same black lenovo screen.I have tried several solutions as follows:   - Turn it off, and then turn it on. Even tried more than one time and always keep the same;   - Turn it on on safe mode/BIOS (?) by pressing the small in button near the power button, but it turn on and keeps stucked in the same black lenovo screen;   - Turn it off, and press the power button for more than 1 minute. After turn it on and was the same;   - I left it and wait until all the battery was completly dead, then press the power button for long time, and after that connect it to power and turn it on. Nothing, just keeps the same.Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance

In order to follow a guideline provided on this forum, I went into BIOS and pressed Fn+F9 keys to set BIOS to default settings. After that used Fn+F10 to save and exit. The laptop was supposed to restart but it is not going farther than Lenovo logo, it is trying to boot windows and after a few seconds shuts down and automatically tries again but doesn't go farther than logo. It seems that a certain setting changed in BIOS that doesn't allow windows to start. See below the default settings of my BIOS now. Please help!

It's been all the same ever since. I'm very busy with work lately, so i've been using my work loptop for everything. Now I want to get this fixed. Does anyone have the same issue that can help me?

Two ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 TabletPCs will successfully boot into Windows 10 just fine from a hard poweroff.  But once in windows, if i choose Restart, it will hang at the "LENOVO" BIOS  level boot up logo with "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter".   Stuck at Lenovo BOOT BIOS initialization screen, right before handoff to the Operating System. "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" At this point, pressing ENTER does not work.CTRL-ALT+DEL causes the screen to change shade for a moment, but effectively does nothing.Changing the UEFI settings to diagnostics results in black screen.Holding the power switch to force a poweroff, waiting a few moments, and then powering on results in a successful windows startup.  DevMGMT.msc does NOT see bluetooth and there is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" entry under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".  I have run all automatic updates via "Lenovo Vantage" and the manual TPM update.   I can boot into the firmware setup and have had it revert to factory defaults and reverted to factory defaults for all security settings.   I even tried the Win10 repair startup problems, but it says it cannot fix this.

A:ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 does not Restart, requires hard power off. Stuck at Lenovo boot logo.

It looks to me like you have a faulty hardware issue or a serious driver issue. Try the Lenovo recovery to put the device back to the factory windows install. If that fails, I would think you have a hardware issue.

I just got my X1 carbon today. The major problem is that the CPU is overheating. It can easily reach to 90 degrees or even higher. (I already used XTU undervolted the cpu) The fan is always on and a little bit noisy if using the laptop even for performing some simple tasks such as open a web. It will turn so hot that i won't even able to reset my hand on the right side of the keyboard above the air outlet (the area next to "enter"). Since it is a new system, i need to restart it after updating and installing some apps. The system stuck at Lenovo logo screen during restarting a few times already. I think it was due to overheating. Long press the power bottom and restart it will solve the problem.

Hello, Lenovo Ideapad stuck when booting at the Lenovo logo. No beeps. Not responding to F1, F2, F10, F12 or Del keys being tapped at boot.Power button and keyboard light up. Tried booting from USB using a bootable stick - didn't happen, boot still stops at the Lenovo logo. I'm familiar with laptops and their innards - have tried removing and reseating RAM (and using individual modules vs both) - still stuck at the logo when trying to boot. Removing both gives me a blank black screen at boot - no logo.Replaced RAM modules - this machine has two hard drives - both bootable; tried removing one, then the other. Still stuck at boot logo. Removed both, still stuck at boot logo. I've prodded at nearly all the contacts inside - all seem to be intact; the motherboard is definitely receiving power. Any suggestions would be appreciated !!!

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y510P stuck at logo screen at boot

Okay, I so also looked up whether the BIOS could be 'hard reset' - assuming there is a corruption in the config; and there isn't much help online. But if anyone knows how, please drop in a comment !Now, somehow, after reattaching all parts and discovering an old microSD card in the SD adapter - inside the laptop's slot - and then removing it, my laptop is booting again !Is this what could have caused it? I am not familiar with laptops (EFI or BIOS based) trying to boot from a memory slot. Or perhaps my prodding and putting it back together did something, Keeping this thread open in case anyone would like to weigh in on the points above!

Hi,i have Lenovo ThinkPad T470 (LENOVO 20HD0002MC) and recently has started a strange problem:While booting at first Lenovo logo shows up (where you can get to BIOS by Enter key) and right after screen goes black. When i power down laptop and boot again (sometime few times) intead of the black screen there is a prompt for Bios password, like it should have and booting continues to OS.Enter key for BIOS doesnt work while it slill get stuck on black screen just right before it loads the BIOS (after trying few times with power -off/on it gets to BIOS and i can boot normally)I have BIOS firmware updated to the latest version, so as well drivers for hardware.Im not aware of any change that could potentionally start this issue, maybe after updating bios to some newer version.Otherwise im using Windows 10 with latest updates, but i dont think this could cause the issue as its way before windows loading. Thanks for the help.

Hope you guys can help me as soon as possible., thanks in advance..

Right, you mentioned it turned blue with a sad face, that is a Blue Screen of Death (or proper term is Kernel bugcheck) which indicates something has gone wrong.

Hello. I have 3 year old Lenovo Y50-70 laptop. Couple days ago i decided to finally upgrade to SSD. The old HDD was 1TB WD 10SPCX and i replaced it with 480GB Kingston UV500 SSD. When I swapped the drives and tried to boot, I was stuck on completely black screen with only Lenovo logo. This ocured when I tried to enter Novo menu using Lenovo Novo button as well. I tried to put back the old HDD and it was working normally. When i pulled out both disks and tried to boot only from bootable USB this problem did not occur. Then i tried to plug the SSD to some HP desktop computer and I was able to install windows there and boot on the desktop normally. So I put the SSD back into my laptop and again i was stuck on the logo. However, because Windows was now installed, I was able to boot after being stuck on the Lenovo logo for some time. Then I tried to change the SATA controller mode. I tried both Compatible (IDE) and AHCI modes and installed fresh windows using both settings but still I was stuck on the cursed Lenovo logo. The lag lasted ~1 minute when usind the IDE and 6-7 minutes using AHCI setting.  My bios version is the same as the version available for donwload on my laptop drivers page (V3.03). Using bios options to restore to defaults or OS optimized defaults did not make any difference. All the drivers are installed and up to date, though I think this is irrelevant as the problem first occured before any OS was present.  Could it be t... Read more

Hi, I have a Lenovo Flex 2 15 Model 20405. Yesterday, I decided to reformat my laptop to Windows 8. On the near end of the installation, it prompted me to restart the computer (it restarted itself after 10 seconds), but after the Lenovo splash screen, I get a blank black screen. I recently came from an Ubuntu OS, not sure if it changed the BIOS settings. I have tried the following instructions bellow. I was successful in rebuilding the BCD, but when I restarted my computer I am still stuck at blank black screen. bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

Remove the Rescue CD and try rebooting now. Other things I have done so far: I've checked the hard drive from BIOS, it's reading it properly.I have tried resetting BIOS to defaults.I changed the boot order priority (HDD first), I tried other boot order as well.I switched between UEFI and Legacy SupportPressed F8 (or FN + F8 ) to bring up Safe Mode, but nothing showed up.I can boot from Windows Installation disk. I tried all troubleshooting options like Refresh and Reset, but I get the message "This option is not available in the OS you selected" - must be because Windows did not finish up during installation so there's nothing to refresh or resetI have tried installing other Windows OS like Windows 7 but still getting the same black blank screen.  The laptop has a built-in battery which... A:Lenovo Ideapad 110 With AMD Radeon R5 stuck on Black screen after showing logo and preparing repair

 Hi there, Eddie                       -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Automatic Repair usually kicks in if there's a problem loading up the files that's required to start Windows. If the repair was interrupted and the screen just goes into a black screen then there's most likely a hardware component that's malfunctioning.

To check, try to:

Boot into the BIOS by pressing the OneKey Recovery button

  - Link to picture

If successful, set the following settings in the BIOS:

Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled

Boot Tab:
UEFI = Disabled or Legacy
Boot Mode = Legacy
Boot Priority = Legacy First
Exit Tab

OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS or Disabled

When done, press F10 (or Fn+10) to save and exit and try to boot from your Windows CD

If you're successful in booting from the Windows Disc, see Step 1 to Step 2 of this guideon how to proceed in fixing the issue.
If the problem remains, consider re-installing Windows by pressing the OneKey Recovery button and choose System Recovery

  - Link to picture

In an event that the recovery fails, I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.

Update us how it goes.

My Lenovo Yoga 2 has some very weird issues that is preventing me from using it. Here's a list of the issues I've noticed:- When I hover over the power icon, there is no option to restart, shutdown or sleep. This only occurs randomly.- I no longer have internet connection. A red "x" is on the connection icon. I'm not able to put it into airplane mode either.- Cannot sign in. When I input my password/pin, it'll load and then restarts. But when I do get in, there is a black screen and I get an error and it restarts.- When left on the sign-in screen, it'll restart by itself- The initial loading screen is longer than usual. The last thing I remember doing before this happened was ripping CDs using an external optical drive. I'm not tech savvy so I probably won't know much terminolgy about computers but I'll do some quick research when needed.

Someone I know gave me their Lenovo G50-45 laptop to fix it. The issue it is having is that when it is powered, it takes a long time to get to the Lenovo logo screen. It was reported to take as long as 30 minutes or more. Interestingly, I opened it up to clean it up if needed and disconnected multiple parts. After reassemblying it properly (suprisingly not breaking or missing anything), I turned it on and it immediately showed the Lenovo logo screen. That suprised me. However, this did speed did not last. After multiple shutdowns and reboots, it has started to take longer and longer to get to the Lenovo logo screen. I also noticed that it seems to be restarting multiple times prior to it showing the Lenovo logo screen. I can tell by seeing the Power LED turning off every once in awhile and then turns on a second or so later. I haven't timed it yet to see if there is a definite pattern. But it does seem somewhat random in how many times it does this. With 8GB of RAM, it works fairly well after it gets to the Lenovo logo screen and it boots into Windows 10. Runs great except for getting to the Lenovo logo screen. I have run the Lenovo Diagnostics Tool, but running the Quick and Full Scans. Yet there were no issues that it could detect (except for Bluetooth not being connected to a device). At this point, I am certain it is either a hardware issue or a firmware issue. It can't be a software issue as this issue occurs before any software is loaded and lik... Read more

Hi
I am having startup problem with my Lenovo G500.
I closed the lid after using the laptop with power cable connected. After 3 or 4 hours I just picked up the laptop and put it in the bag for traveling. After 12 hours when I took it out it was too hot.
I tried to switch it on but it stuck on Lenovo startup screen. Then I removed HDD and started again, It showed error of no bootable device. Then I connected HDD and started it worked fine for few days.
Now again same problem of startup screen.
I've done power flee procedure as well but of no use now.

Can anybody please guide me what's the suspected problem in the laptop?

A:G500 - Startup stuck at Lenovo screen

hi nasirraza2009,

Welcome to the Forums.

When the machine gets stucked on the lenovo logo, can you boot into the BIOS (by pressing F2 or Fn+F2) and check if the HDD is detected
   - Link to picture

In addition, If the machine boots again into Windows again, to un a diagnostic on the HDD to verify its health.

  - Lenovo Storage Test or
  - HD Tune.

If you're unable to run a diagnostic on the drive then I recommend you contact lenovo and report the problem as there's likely an issue on the HDD / HDD's connection to the motherboard (or other internal component).

Hello everyone, Since about five days ago, everytime I turn on my laptop, it starts normally. It goes into the black-background lenovo startup with a white loading symbol. Then, after maybe 5 rotations of the dots in the loading symbol, it freezes. It does not progress into starting up. At this point, I usually turn off my laptop by holding the power button. If I don't turn it off myself, it turns off automatically a few minutes later.  Every 2 or 3 times I turn on my computer, instead of the loading symbol, it turns into a "Preparing Automatic Repair" mode. I have seen the loading symbol for this mode but then it disappears and nothing happens and it turns off automatically after ten minutes or so. I've seen the same solution that help others with the same problem which is to take out the DVD from the laptop. Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

A:Lenovo G50-30 : getting black screen after lenovo logo

Hi zoheb_syed ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Doing factory reset would delete everything and repartitioned with new Windows on it just like out of the box .
Lenovo splash screen is a good sign that power goes in the computer and the devices required for a working machine.
For as long as you back up your files , try doing the Lenovo Restore using the Novo key (no.2 page 9).
Just turn off the pc and use the Novo button to turn it on . Novo menu would give the System Recovery

Soon as done , create a local account and proceed.
If it goes to a black screen during the process , I recommend you call in tech support for repair.
Most likely there would be a problem with the GPU since rendering on Windows failed.
You can also check the display on any external monitor to see if the display would work externally to isolate LCD or cable issue .
If the computer finish up with the restoration then run Lenovo diagnostics.

Tech support can give you repair options or if BIOS update is neccessary .
Best check on your warranty for the type of repair service you would expect (either sending to depot or Onsite repair)
Considering the turn around time of the repair , which I know that you need it on a daily basis for work  Try above step and let us see how it works.

Hope this helped you get things done on your issue.

When I start up my Lenovo Yoga 910, I don't seem to have an issue.  As in, it starts quickly, the computer seems to work fine.  However, the splash screen is messed up somehow.  I've searched online for a solution but can't seem to find anybody else that is having the problem. Here is what it looks like: I tried updating the bios, but I am on the latest version.  I really don't want to try and do a factory restart.

Hey folks,

Got an M93 with Win 10. Lenovo solution center asks to do upgrades on BIOS and a bunch of drivers. Did that, and now I can't boot the computer.

Tried pressing F1 after pressing start button, no help. Can't enter BIOS, still stuck at lenovo screen. Also tried Ctrl+Alt+Del on that screen, blacks out then stuck at lenovo screen again.

Please help and inform, thanks!!!

James

A:ThinkCentre: Stuck at Lenovo splash screen after lenovo solution bios upgrade

I would try resetting the BIOS using the jumper, or by taking out the CMOS battery, wait a minute or two, and then replace it and try booting up. See page 73 of the Hardware Maintenance Manaul linked below for location of the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper (# 20) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m83m93p_hmm.pdf Clearing the CMOS (BIOS)1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. 3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. 4. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and pin 3). 5. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. 6. Turn on the computer and leave it on for approximately 10 seconds. Then, turn off the computer by holding the power switch for approximately five seconds. 7. Repeat step 1 through step 2. 8. Move the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper back to the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2). 9. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. Good Luck,
