Windows Mail chooses non default account for replies to incoming mail.

Q: Windows Mail chooses non default account for replies to incoming mail.

I have several accounts in Windows Mail to use in different locations. When I am at home I set the appropriate account as Default. Windows Mail uses this reliably when creating mail. However, when replying to incoming mail the programme always tries to use another account (not default but one I use in Portugal) and of course it fails to Send because the settings are not correct. I have to manually change the account in the outgoing address box. Any solution?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

pop e-mail accounts

Our users have 2 seperate pop e-mail accounts one is their default and one is secondary. I am trying to have it so that they can recieve e-mails sent to both e-mail addresses but I only want them the be able to send from one of the two e-mail addresses (the default). As it is now, if they get and e-mail that is sent to both e-mail address wich is working like it's supposed to but, when they hit reply it sends the e-mail from the e-mail address that it was sent to even when its the secondary e-mail.

I've tried to find a way to force all sent mail to go through the primary (default) account but i can't seem to find it.

A:Default E-mail Address for Replies

You should be able to configure the secondary account to match all of the outgoing server and user information used for the primary account.

What e-mail client software are they using?

Are both accounts on the same server?

I have an irritating problem with Outlook Express in that it won't collect mail from my BT Internet account without manual interference . The problem is that when I input the name of the server for incoming mail i.e. mail.btinternet.com it won't stay there and everytime that I close and re-open my PC this reverts to a numeric "name" which BT obviously wont accept ( The same number appears for my Supanet mail which happily gets delivered . Every day I have to re-enter the mail.btinternet.com hit the "apply" button and OK ( on the "Servers" panel ( Tools/Accounts/Properties/Servers) and while I'm cionnected , the mail comes through OK .

Somewhere there is an overriding default problem but how do I get the system to accept my instructions on a permanent basis ??

I'm currently using the Windows 10 Mail App and have 8 different email accounts. When I open the mail app, I want my most-used email account to the the first one to open. Is there any way to change which email account appears when the Windows Mail App is opened?

A:Can I set the default linked account in Windows 10 Mail App

I just answered my own question and it was something easy I should have tried before posting.

Here's the answer. Open the Windows 10 Mail App and right click on you preferred primary email account. Chose pin to start page. Now unpin the Windows 10 App from the start page, substituting your newly pinned email account. Now when you click your default email account on the start page, the Windows Mail App opens with your preferred email account already selected.

Hope this helps someone else with the same question.

whenever i open ms office outlook 2007 and try to download received emails, an error message will pop up saying path to naCmnLib71.dll is not found and outlook has to close
after some searching on the internet it seems this file is used by mcafee virusscan to scan incoming emails
after disabling the email scanner everything worked fine
so i can conclude that the email scanner is indeed the problem
i also updated mcafee virusscan to the lastest version but it does not seem to solve the problem
is there anyone with the same problem and has solved the problem?
can you provide me with the solution?
thank you

A:Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 error when McAfee VirusScan performs e-mail scanner during downloading of incoming e-mail

Well, if something is making the email scan not work, to be honest I personally would do a AV and AS scan, and maybe even a boot scan... Just to make sure there is nothing else causing the problem.

Make sure you have some text in the body of your mail, even if it is just a full stop.

I'm new to windows 8.1 and currently setting up my new Surface Pro 3. I'm trying to use metro apps as much as possible on this machine (I got a Windows 7 laptop for other desktop apps).

As for Mail metro app, is it possible to set a default account to load when opening the application? Currently, I have a Live account as the default and a Gmail account. The Live account is only for Microsoft stuffs (store, support, etc) and the Gmail for everything else personal. I will be adding more for work and other stuffs.

When I open Mail, it shows the Live account, which doesn't get updated daily. All I want is to load the Gmail by default. Is this possible?

You may need to install another Email client and set that as default with your default @gmail account. You'll still be able to use mail app but the default client would be a back ground process(ie; when you're answering stuff)

A particular e-mail sent to me is visible on my webmail at my ISP's site, and is also visible on my own machine in MailWasher. But Windows Mail just does not see the message at all. If I was relying on Windows Mail alone, I would not be aware that this message had ever been sent.

There's nothing unusual about my e-mail account, the incoming server is pop3. I receive other messages without problems, there's just one doing this, and I don't see anything unusual about it when I look at it in MailWasher or webmail.

Anything I might tinker with, to make Windows Mail see this message and any others in the future which might behave similarly?

I used the following MS Knowledge Base article to create an autoreply message (since we don't use MS Exchange Server in our office I don't have the Out of Office Assistant):

(hhmm... seems I'm not allowed to post active urls since I am new here, the non-active link above works if you cut and paste it to your browser.)
I've never created an autoreply message before but I was pretty sure there was some way to do it so I tracked that down.
The only problem is that I only want to create this autoreply for a email account. which is not the default email account. In the template file I even specified to send the message using the account the email comes in on, but it replies using the default mail account rather than the one I want it to.

My Rule for this is:

1. Check mail on arrival from this altername account
2. Reply using template C:\Documents and Settings\user\Applications\Templates\OutOfOffice.oft
3. stop rule processing

In reality part 2 of this rule should be:
Reply using template C:\Documents and Settings\user\Applications\Templates\OutOfOffice.oft and send via altername account

Is there any way to set the reply to use the non-default account rather than the default one?

If not, can anyone suggest an application which will do this?

I have 7 email accounts available with Comcast and have had two of them set up with Windows Live Mail on my new Windows 7 system.

Been lovin' it. However, when I recently set up several more of my Comcast accounts (setting them up identically to the others), mail sent to them does not show up in their individual inbox folders. In fact, for those, incoming mail does not even show up in the "All Inbox" in "Quick Views". The only indication I have of incoming mail to any of these recently set up email accounts is that they do appear in the "All e-mail" folder of "Quick Views".

Again, these latter accounts are set up IDENTICALLY as the previous two that work properly.

I am using Outlook 2007 on my laptop for my sales position. I have XP Pro and connect via my secured home wifi network as well as other wifi networks while on the road. I use Cox.net for my ISP and have a cox e-mail address and a business e-mail address (different domain name) on my laptop Outlook account. My non-Cox account uses separate e-mail servers and port numbers than Cox.

I recently discovered that recipients of e-mails from me are responding to my e-mails, but I am not receiving those replies nor are they getting an error report. I've deleted the non-Cox account from my laptop and relied on SquirrelMail (webmail service) to send and check that e-mail. Same thing occurs that recipient receives my e-mail and responds, but I do not receive their response.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction? Our small business has a guy who handles our IT functions, but he's at a loss since I'm the only one with this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help!

A:Why am I not receiving e-mail replies?

First, with the information that you have provided this indicates it isn't an internal problem. If people are trying to send to you, and they don't get any bounce-backs this tells you that the messages are either going to a spam folder or getting blocked on your end. So right now I assume that your non-Cox (or your business domain) is having the problem. What ISP does the business use? Does the business have a spam filter setup that might be grabbing these messages? The best way to resolve this is to send a couple of test messages to yourself using your cox e-mail address, your non-cox e-mail address, and maybe a yahoo or gmail account. If you receive those messages then for the most part your non-cox account is fine.

Good luck!

I can only guess that the Account.equals() method in Windows' codebase looks like this:
return this.emailAddress == account.emailAddress;

A while back, I realized I no longer needed my Hotmail address, and set up my Microsoft account to use my G-mail address. This simplified things quite a lot for me. This is the account I use to log into Windows 8.
I just decided to try out the much-hated Mail app, and set up my G-mail account there. After some imperfectness, I thought about just removing it and using Chrome G-mail on its own. However, I ran into this:
They seem to falsely think that my G-mail account is the same as my Microsoft account, when in reality there's no reason I shouldn't be able to remove this. (Heck, it wasn't there 10 minutes ago) Any ideas? If this is a real bug, any way to submit it to Microsoft?
