Replacement of Y50-70 Touch screen plastic lid cover

Q: Replacement of Y50-70 Touch screen plastic lid cover

So, my son dropped my laptop and the plastic where the hinges attach via screws to the lid's plasic rear cover broke. The screen is fine and the laptop works perfectly but when you open it, the lid is only attached by one screw and it's pretty unstable. I ordered a replacement rear cover for the lid (specifically for the touch screen version) and am having trouble finding specifics on it's replacement alone. Again, I don't need to replace the screen and the hinges themselves are fine - basically I just need to get the cover off, slap the new one on, and screw the hinges into it. Of course the issue is removing the screen and putting it into the new cover. It appears you slide it off in a downward motion after taking off two small screws at the base - but do I need to glue the new one in? Any specifics would be appreciated! Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello after a while.
Now I am working on Samsung np rv410, 14" laptop,4GB DDR3...altogether nothing specialbut good for me for everyday stuff.
Since I got it, it has some kind of scratches on screen but it didn't bother me for a while because I got it really cheap without 2GB of RAM when it was really slooooow for 35us$ ( everything else is ok).

I am not to good in dissassembling things so the easiest way for me is to show the situation on pics.(I am really not sure if it's on LED, or on cover glass if it has or something third under cover)

So any sugestion what to do to get it back to full functional condition is more then welcome...
Thanks in advance

Hey all, I'm dealing with the dreaded hinge issue and found myself needing to replace the back cover. I have a Lenovo Ideapad S510p Touch, model number 20299, but the two parts that are compatible according to the hardware maintenance manual, are eitherLS51P LCD Cover With 0.3M Camera TS   Part #90203869LS51P LCD Cover With 1M Camera TS       Part #90203884I can't for the life of me tell whether I have a .3M camera or a 1M camera. Has anyone had any luck finding a specific Lenovo part with a number, where did you order? I'm also wondering whether I can just take off the camera on my current case and use it on a replacement cover as the camera itself isn't damaged, just the plastic backing where the right hinge's screws are supposed to be. Has anyone had any luck ordering a cheap non-touch cover for their touch? I don't use touch anyway so if fits without the added touch functionality, I will be happy.I also want to add how the problem came about. It's not under warranty anymore, but the right hinge suddenly got very stiff, the hinged somehow tightened itself. Trying to close the top normally is what caused the hinge screws to separate from the plastic backing on the case.

Hi all, I have not yet removed the (green-tinted transparent) plastic cover from the side of my P50.  I am talking about the one that covers my Expresscard and SD card slots.  I had initially not known that the Expresscard slot has a spring-loaded door on it, and was keeping the plastic on as a dust cover (especially since it doesn't cover the vent) until I had something to populate the slot.  However, over Thanksgiving Weekend, I noticed that the Expresscard does, in fact, have a spring-loaded closure.  The SD slot (halfway cut into the slope on the bottom) has a rather big opening (because of the slope of the plastic.) (Please see the pictures:  http://oi68.tinypic.com/10f2492.jpg,  http://oi68.tinypic.com/r7qcr5.jpg,  http://oi64.tinypic.com/33d8109.jpg,  http://oi63.tinypic.com/egsi6c.jpg, and http://oi64.tinypic.com/jrxmav.jpg)My concern is dust, crumbs, and random debris getting in and harming something. My question is:Is it worth the bother of plugging an external SD card reader into a USB port to keep dust out of that SD card slot?  Should I populate that slot with an SD-to-micro-SD adapter to plug the hole, and then just swap it out for a SD chip when I need to, not worrying about safely removing the adapter, as it isn't a memory-storage device?Or should I just go ahead, remove the plastic, and not worry about dust, etc potentially building up inside it? Thanks very much!

I have an HP Printer inkjet, 840 series, I am trying to remove the right side cover in order to get to the ink drip pan. The pan is so full of packed ink, it looks more like tar. I removed the one screw on the cover right side cover but after that I can't figure how to continue to remove the plastic cover in order to get to the ink drip pan and clean the mess out.

Does the right side cover come off by itself, or is there a previous section that needs removal first? How do you remove that right side plastic cover? I've tried searching, navigating to literally hundreds of sites, forum help, etc, lots of discussions about the printers, etc, but no where do I find info on removing and/or dismantling the HP Printer. Hello there Lenovo Forums.I am writing here because I have a problem with my thinkpad screen and back cover. Just recently I've noticed that the back cover tends to unstick/come off/unglue/disconnect from the glass screen (I am not a native speaker and can't really find a good word to describe it). The whole thing happens mostly when opening the notebook. As the hinges are quite firm and opening the laptop is not as easy as in a macbook it requires some force to open it. I usually open the laptop just as one would open any other e.g. macbook pro. Grab the middle of the screenwith one hand, grab body with other hand and it opens. After noticing what is going on i started grabbing it from the sides to prevent further harm to the machine which is quite counter intuitive for me. Furthermore the camera lens started to get dusty because of the problem. Getting to the problem. Should I just get it repaired by Lenovo, as the device is under warranty, or it is considered user damage even though it seems that the screen unit is faulty. Here I provide photos of what is going on.After opening can see backlightThe glass sticks out of frameMy temporary fix is to get it back into place by pushing it back into frame, but after opening the laptop from the middle of the screen it goes back everytime. Thanks for replies,Jacob

Your images are not linked -- but you should call Dell support to see what they say.
If it's cosmetic damage, they won't cover it -- if it's a manufacturing defect, they should.

Received a new Dell desktop unit and the Front Door I/O Plastic Bezel/Cover was loose in the box and not attached. Flexing the plastic door to attach to the two connection points is easy enough, but there is a small spring that needs to attach, presumably to keep the door closed when not in use. There is a small hole on the connection point of the door itself where one end of the spring goes, but I'm not able to figure out where to attach/place the other end so that the spring will work. Suggestions welcomed.

Thanks.

Hi, So earlier today, the touch screen on my laptop cracked. The LCD is fine, but the touch screen has cracked and no longer works. I was looking to see possible replacements. Honestly I don't even use the touch screen functionality, so a regular non-touch LCD screen would work just fine (and be much cheaper too). Does anyone have any advice on where I could find a good replacement? Are there any additional steps I must take? Thanks!

Here is the Service Manual: Manual Unfortunately HP does not "spare" the glass and and digitizer as a separate part. For this you have to go into the aftermarket: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HP-Envy-X360-m6-w103dx-M6-W104dx-15-6-Digitizer-Touch-Screen-Glass-US-FA... Note the warning on this auction. You are going to have to disassemble the unit to check the digitizer and see if it matches the one in this auction.  If not we can help you find the right one.

I have a HP Pavilion Notebook 17g-150cy purchased at Walmart in 2016 and currently using my TV as a monitor thru the HDMI connection. The glass and 17.3-inch diagonal HD+(33) WLED-backlit touchscreen display (1600 x 900)is damaged and non-operational. My cobalt blue casing is intact with no cracks or scratches. I wish to repair the device and I am unable to locate the maintenance and service manual for my specific model number. I was only able to locate the maintenance and service guide for the HP Pavilion Notebook 17 Models 17-g000 ? 17-g099 AMD models. Is there a maintenance and service guide available specifically for my notebook? Can I use the above maintenance guide for parts? I reviewed the maintenance and service guide for the HP Pavilion Notebook 17 Models 17-g000 ? 17-g099 AMD models (pages 62-68) and wanted to know........ How I determine which screen (part numbers) to research and purchase, HD or FHD? Can the display and casing be purchased as one (1) piece? I appreciate your assistance in advance.

After having issues with my laptop, diagnostics showed that I needed to replace my HDD. It was replaced with an SSD, and windows 10 was reinstalled (as that was the OS before replacement). Now the laptop shows that there is "no pen or touch input" in the control panel and the Human Interfacing for touch screen is missing. Both Windows Update and HPSA have been no help in finding the driver for it or in giving any useful information. I just don't really want to have paid extra for touch that doesn't work....

A:no touch screen after SDD replacement

Hi, If thats the case then your best bet is to update the drivers using hp support site. I am going to include pictures so you could follow the steps properly. Go to https://support.hp.com then type the product number to the search bar  Click Software and Drivers  Then Click Go  Select the current version of windows you are using  Then look for the drivers you seek that you believe missing.  Good luck!

I recently changed the screen of my HP ENVY x360 [model: 15t-aq100] with this exact screen I got from eBay. I took out three cables and the little chipboard thingy, put back the little chipboard thingy and three cables and--voilą! The screen turns on and I get an image and, besides my little issue, it works fine.

My issue is that the touch screen function doesn't work at all--the computer recognizes that there is a "HID-compliant touch screen" when I open up my device manager and that it is enabled--but even after updating whatever software it wants me to update--even going so far as updating Windows 10 *shudder*--I don't get a response when my greasy little fingers caress the screen. The touch capability was working before and after the fall--I don't think any other cables or sensors got damaged, just the screen.

So my question becomes this: the screen I bought was touchscreen capable, right? It looks exactly like the old cracked one. How can I tell whether or not the screen itself is touch screen capable? If you don't think it's the screen I bought that's the problem, but something I did, what should I do? I tried inserting and reinserting cables and restarting the computer. I haven't tried searching for drivers for the screen, but I don't know where or how to find those. I'm honestly at a loss of ideas as of how to resolve this, so please...help?

Here is a link to the computer maintenance and service guide if that... Read more

It isn't just the LCD that is different. The panel, bezel, lid, cable and hinges all are different.  If you want to repair with non-touch, the best choice might be to look for a used, complete assembly

My touchscreen cracked- but I bought a $200 insurence policy from Staples, which is where I purchase my computer (and I will NEVER do that again and I don't recommend it). The policy covered accidental damages, such as a cracked screen, but after jumping through hoop after hoop to file a claim, Staples called me saying that they won't fix it becuase it's too expensive, even though I bought insurence. They offered a refund for my computer, but I refused because I adore my Yoga.      I'm really hoping someone can point me in the direction of a third party repairer, or even somewhere where I can buy a replacement touchscreen and have someone like Geek Squad install it. Any suggestions?

Get the refund for the computer and buy yourself another yoga. I would even request for the old machine back, make a OKR image. Then nuck reformat the hdd and give it back to staples for a full refund. Once done, restore the new yoga with the image you made.

Someone else already posted this same question and never replied to the person asking questions.  So here's my attempt. I have a HP ProBook 450 G2 with the i3-4005U processor and it does not currently have a touchscreen.    I would like to consider adding the digitizer which I am finding for sale online, but I cannot tell whether or not it's just a matter of buying the digitizer or if the whole display would need to be replaced. This is the digitizer i was looking at (or a similar one):http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HP-Probook-450-G2-Laptop-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Glass-15-6-69-15I05-T02-... My Product Number is L8E08UT,  printed under the battery. Also,  second question related to the first.     If I can just install that digitizer, does it rely on the LCD Panel being the 1368x768 resolution?      I was contemplating upgrading to a 1080P panel from LG instead like others have done.  (I know this is completely unsupported, just not sure if the digitizers were resolution specific) Thanks in advance! Brian

About a month ago, I dropped my iPod Touch Second Generation and the screen cracked. It is still usable, but I would like to repair it. Apple gave me a quote of $120 dollars for the repair, however I have seen things on online stores like Amazon and eBay for less than $15. Are these safe to use and good quality? If so, where do you recommend I buy the replacement? I have read several reviews on such products warning me that I need to also buy a chassis/bezel, etc., because by opening the iPod these snap...or that I may also need to replace my home button...I am not sure exactly how broken my iPod is or what I need to purchase.

When you do open or close the screen it sounds like the screen is shattering. Luckily it's just the plastic and not the screen.  Has anyone experienced this? Is there a permanent fix? This past Christmas, I received a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 Touch Screen. Just recently, I removed it from its laptop case to find that the screen had cracked. It wasn't an external screen crack. If you run your fingers over the screen, it's smooth, but there are visible cracks and a section of the screen that isn't showing the desktop, but only an odd mesh of white and black with a bit of other colors included in the section. I looked up screen replacements and I found a detailed description on YouTube of how to replace the screen in the Dell Inspiron 15 3521. It had a link in the description to replacement parts. That would solve my problem, but I just have one issue: My laptop is a touch screen and I'm not certain if the replacement screen is a touch screen. I want to be able to use my laptop to the fullest. If it includes touch ability, I want a touch replacement screen. I'll post a link to the website with the replacement parts. Please reply and tell me if it is touch or not. Those are not touch screens - they are standard LCD panels.
To change the panel, you need to replace both the touch glass and LCD as a unit:

I would like to replace the screen, but am having a hard time finding a replacement. It seems like 40-pin touch screens for the T460 got discontinued? Regardless, I hardly ever use the touch screen feature, so would be open to going non-touch, but not really sure how to go about doing that. Are there 40-pin to 30-pin converters so I could go with a 30-pin monitor? Are T450 or T470 monitors an option?

I replaced the screen assembly (screen and digitizer) on my Thinkpad Yoga 260. The computer boots up and the display appears to work. However the touch screen and digitizer does not. When I go into the device manager-human interface-HID Compliant Touch Screen, the property box states: "Currently this hardware device is not connected to the computer (code 45)". I tried sesearching for new device without luck. Also tried checking for device updates and running the troubleshooting application without luck. Any suggestion or did I get a bad screen? FYI the orginal screen was a Innolux. the new screen is AUO. the new screen is listed as a compatiable with my system

Did Lenovo replace the screen?

If you replaced it, did it come from Lenovo?  What is the FRU number?

Hi, I have this 3444CUU model with i7-3667U(3.2GHz),8GB RAM,240GB Solid State Drive,14in 1600x900 Multitouch LCD,

The touch screen had some cracks so I disabled it so laptp worked fine. Now the LCD display starts to have crack lines also and I have to find replacement for either LCD ONLY or LCD+touch screen.

The below list I copied from another thread but it doesn't really tell which will be working for mine, so I would need a part list for replacement if I am looking for LCD replacement ONLY, or LCD+touch screen combo.

Thanks a lot!

Hello, the plastic piece which coers the mini SD card and the SIM card area on the back of my X1 Yoga seems to have gone missing.  Can anyone recommend how I can get a replacement part?  I really don't want to send it in to Lenovo because I can't be without the laptop for that long.  Thanks, Adi.

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 with a cracked touch screen. I would like to replace the screen but cannot determine the correct part to purchase.  Is it a Touch Screen only or is it an LCD with embedded touch?
It looks like the LCD with embedded touch is correct, but I would like to be sure.
Thanks

The complete assembly is one fused part - it needs to be replaced as a unit.

Does anyone know a part number for the white plastic heatsink frame retainer 'screws' that were used in some of the GX270-era Optiplexes?  Or a source for buying replacements when they break?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've had this machine about about a week, so far I really like it.  Can't say yet that I love it yet, but it does what I need it to and the price is better than a tablet with the same functions and already has a keyboard.  This machine is kept in a padded case when not used in my desk drawer it does not bounce around in my briefcase etc.
This morning the left button on the touch pad does not work.  At first glance it sort of looks like it is caught on something or stuck, the right button works great a broken switch under the button is also possible but this thing doesn't move at all I'd think a switch would still move just not contact properly inside.  I need my machine and I've made a couple of upgrades like a SSD for the stock hard drive and a 8 gig ram chip, I am not thrilled about pulling those components in order to return for warranty replacement etc. as I'm pretty sure you won't be returning the same machine I sent in.  I'm considering pulling it apart to see if it is indeed stuck so it can be pushed back out from the inside but if this is a common issue with this machine I'd like to know that...
Can I be sent a new touch pad component, I believe I saw this is a separate board that attaches to the motherboard with a ribbon cable?  I'm not afraid of this procedure myself as I've been building desktops since the 90's and this is a really simple hardware to work on from the looks o... A:New week old Inspiron 11 3000 3558 (touch) stuck or broken button on touch pad--warranty parts replacement?

This is an fyi about the final resolution of this issue.  After a lot of arguing dell sent me what was supposed to be the touchpad but what I got was only the plastic palmrest no touchpad. Then because it's a "daughter card" I got more argument about the touchpad.  I got hot enough that I opened up the back, lifted out the battery, took out the two funky looking screws and the whole pad just fell right out of the machine.  The buttons seemed fine so I screwed it back down, put the battery back in and closed it up.  It's now great, the button was indeed hung up on the edge of the plastic palmrest.  This is a very well designed inside machine, it all screws down and all connections are with plugs or ribbon cables.  I wrote back to dell and told them they need to fire their tech manual writers because they're idiots, a monkey could have done this.  Apparently it is not easy to find only the mouse pad it's generally sold with the palmrest from what I can tell.  This whole machine is so well designed I scratch my head why the cpu isn't socketed unless they decided there was no room for a socket etc, which I can see that argument.  So if your mouse pad quits try popping it out first it may just be hung up.

I have this product with 3 months left in the warranty, and I wanted a replacement part shipped back to me.My laptop took a nasty hit in a fall, and as a result, my back cover has had a piece fall off of it, along with a fracture on the bottom cover.  I went to PartSurfer and found the part I was looking for, but there's no area I can input my warranty info into. Why is this? Is self-repair not allowed under warranty?

A:Replacement Cover for HP Notebook 15-ay041wm

Hi,Self repair is not allowed under warranty. You've to contact HP technical support and they would source the parts needed after assessing the damages. But accidental damages are not covered within warranty and it automatically has voided warranty. So it is chargeable. You've to search the HP part number through online stores or HP part store in your region and buy them.If you're doing the replacement yourself, whole responsibility of any further damage lies upon you.RegardsVisruth

I have a problem on the hinges which caused a fracture on the rear lid and now on the hinges cover, not the front lid cover. The hinges cover has also a strip that looks like plugged in the rear lid and functions as bottom connection with the display. Of course it is also covering the hinges. I found a list of t440 components here: https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/t440_fru_list_20140213.pdfbut I cannot find which model should I refer to buy a new substitute. Can anyone please help me, there?  Partially related to the issue, I have bought a new rear lid model 04X5447 but I have been unlucky and from bad transport, it arrived slightly bended: looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/rIZyCDo you think I can use it a suitable replacement? Thanks in advance for you help
