I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

my Yoga 520 which I bought around 5 month ago was working just fine in the beginning - but in August the battery was fading. First it shuts down after around 15 to 20 minutes - even iif it shows 100% charged - and now it goes down after some minutes already. The laptop is running OK when the power cord is connected but it shuts down very quickly now when I unplug the power cord.   I would really appreciate some help with identifying the issue and solution. Thank you

Hi, Im suddenly experiencing a strange problem with my Yoga 720. Following keys are not working/responding at all: x m c , and Enter. They do however seem to work after "warming up" (meaning the laptop is atually warm due to ativity). This problem is ofcourse extremely annoying, since I have to use the screen keyboard to do anything. Does anyone have any tips? Or experienced anything similar? I started having the problem after reading having the laptop in "pad" mode (turned around). I have tried-Updating drivers and updated everything-removing keys and cleaning-turning it off and on-typing in different settings (also in command field)

Hey Everyone

Started typing on my internal laptop keyboard today and reliased that mainly keys a b and n were not working.
So I decided to clean them by taking off the key and white holder, then used a cloth to clean all the dust etc.. both under the rubber button and around it. This still didn't work however, so I then decided to uninstall and reinstall the driver as well. However this didn't work either.

Its probably best to try and buy a new one off e-bay, but before I do this does anyone else have any suggestions?

Also interesting, a b and n seems to be a popular combination of keys for other toshiba laptops that don't seem to be working... (Using a USB keyboard atm to type which works fine)

Thanks

Hello - We have owned this Lenovo Yoga (product specs below) for about 3 years with no issues. suddenly, a handful of keys stopped working from the keyboard.  I can type just fine using an external keyboard, or by using the screen keyboard. The letters that don't work: g, i, o and p.   I updated the bios and all other drivers from the Lenovo site, hoping it was just a driver issue, but it seems pretty obvious that it's a hardware issue.  I deleted the kayboard from device manager and re-installed, as well.  I have swapped out Lenovo keyboards before, but this one looks different.  Using an external keyboard is not a long term possibility for this user.   Any thoughts?  Thank you all!Device:Yoga Laptop (ThinkPad)Machine Type: 20CD00BYUSOS: Windows 10 (64bit)Processor: 1x Intel Core i7-4600U Processor(i7-4600U): Memory: 1x 8GB PC3-12800

Usually, when groups of keys in rows or columns stop working, the problem is the keyboard itself.  Are you still under warranty?

Hello,Having a problem with my laptop keyboard where the hotkey function buttons have suddenly stopped working as they used to. Pressing any of the hot keys results in an f1-12 rather than the previous function of changing volume, toggling keyboard lights and changing brightness etc. This happened around the time of me installing some new drivers for an audio interface so may be related to that. Ive tried going into the BIOS and toggling the hotkey option on and off, and installing hp quick launch software but nothing has worked so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance - C. my laptop is not yet a year old and it has not been used a great deal, i am extremely careful with my latop and it has never been near water, dropped or anything that could have damaged the hardware. this makes me believe the issue is software related.the issue is that i have keys on my keyboard that will randomly stop working, when i push them nothing will happen. it is sometimes random but usually is any of the following keys "3edc4rfv5tgb0p;/"they will always stop working in a diagonal across and down my keybaord e.g. if T is broken "5TGB" will also be broken. and that same diagonal pattern down my keyboard follows if a key stops working. to get them working i can mash the broken keys all at the same time until they start typing and then they seem to start working for a couple minutes or a couple seconds. but will always stop working again eventually. i have contacted lenovo countless times as my laptop is in warranty for the next 7 years however they only offer a repair which i currently cannot do as i am in UNIVERSITY and cannot do without a laptop for up to 6 weeks. what i would like to know is if there is a quick and easy possible fix such as resetting or reimaging my laptop that i can do myself in a couple of hours to try and fix the problem?also if anyone else has had the problem and if there are any other possibilities on getting it fixed/recommendations on what to do because there is nothing more frustrating than having keys stopping working when i p... About 4 months ago, I had an issue with the keyboard where about 9 keys on the keyboard sometimes would not type. I sent the laptop in for repair, the keyboard was replaced, and I did not have any issues since then. That is, until recently. For about 2 days now, I have been having the same problem again, except with different keys this time. One point of consistency is that both times I have had this issue, the broken keys were all on the right side of the keyboard. I have already tried updating drivers and draining power then rebooting. The specific keys not working are 8, =, i, ], and k (both shifted and not).  I recently updated my BIOS and chipset, could this have anything to do with it? Is there another possible solution, or do I have to send it in again? Thanks in advance.

I have a Yoga 910 laptop for about 4 months now and everything has been working well until now. But since a couple of days, the delete and the prtSc keys do not work anymore. I have tried with the PassMark keyboard test to see if it recognizes that the keys are pressed, but it seems that they are not. The Insert key, while not working in some cases (e.g Word, Notepad), it is recognized as being pressed during the test. Did any others have the same issue? Hello Community,  I have a problem for my lenovo Yoga 720 keyboard. Some keys "1","q","a", z" (as far as I know of) just stopped working suddenly. I am using Windows 10-64 bit. It has been up-to-date I then used 'Lenovo System Update' to update my BIOS to the most recent version, and anything else that I was suggested to update. The keyboard keys still didn't work. It actually worked a tiny while, like it seldomly tryped out some of the letter it didn't work, then all failed keys stopped working again. Then I tried to reset windows, and re-install windows 10. However, it didn't work at all. The on-screen keyboard works fine. Under the 'Commandrompt", failed keys didn't work either. I am not sure if it is the hardware of software problem in this case. Anyone has the same problem? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

You can change the volume in software, but neither the volume +- on the keyboard, nor the volume rocker on the side of the machine will change the volume. That is, UNLESS you open the task manager, and then click on the services tab. As long as the focus is on the services tab, then the volume on the keyboard and the rocker will both work. If you click on another window, or if you click on a tab other than the services tab, both sets of buttons stop working. Also, both sets of buttons work fine in Linux.

Sometimes I have to press the key repeatedly until a number or numbers appear and then, occasionally, I tap the key once and multiple numbers appear at once. This is mainly the keys at either end of the scale, the 5 and 6 keys seems OK. I haven't got the keyboard wet or dropped the laptop and only had it since January of this year, although it gets used most days.  Any advice on potential fixes would be greately recieved because this makes it extremely hard to do my work, which involves typing numbers a lot, and to enter passwords online. Windows tenProduct number: eighty one EKBIOS: 7QCN38WW Regards

Hello all, I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20FY0002US), which was purchased 14 months ago, so it is just out of warrenty. It worked great, although I only use it when I travel. Starting from a few days ago, some of keys of it are not working. These keys are near the edges of the keyboard, such as "1", "q", "a", "z", the ESC key, the windows key, the space key, and the backspace key. The keys in the middle as wel as the function keys are fine.   I believe that It is not an issue related to the windows, but the problem exists even in the BIOS. I tried to update the BIOS and the drivers, but no help. I also have disconnected and reconnected the ribbon cables of the keyboard, no help as well. Any help/suggestions? Thanks a lot.

A:Lenovo Yoga 730 15" Key board problem. Keys not working

Hi Portato,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Seing them lined up or non functioning keys on a localized spot usually indicates hardware failure on the input board itself.

You can further isolate is as it works ok with onscreen keyboard and external USB keyboard but opening CMD (from the search running as admin) to test. If the same keys do not work on the CMD black box then best to call in technical support and inform them of the steps we tried for immediate recommendation.

I hope this helps answer your query.
Update us how it goes.

I have a Commodore Laptop (Argentina) and all the keys that have a FN function attached to them do not work as their normal function any more - this happened after lending the laptop to my kids....

I think it may be FN lock, but can-t find any way to unlock it.

Any ideas please.

Many thanks.

A:Keys that have FN functions on them not working as normal keys

Check the Manual on the model's Support Downloads webpage for key combo to unlock: http://www.ehow.com/how_4968993_unlo...ey-laptop.html

Try updating or reinstalling the hotkeys driver from the model's Support Downloads webpage. Driver Install - Device Manager

While there look also for any downloadable fixes for these key functions or related.

It may also be disabled in msconfig>Startup. You can google the listings there to see what they're for. Normally you only need your AV checked and the rest are freeloaders, but some models require hotkey software to be running at startup if it provides anciliiary functions like backlighting, function toggling, etc.

Hello there,I have Lenovo Yoga 13 with Windows 8.1 and recently it has started behaving strangely. It was in hibernation for some time, then I opened it and the notification ?Autorotation on/Autorotation off? started winkling and changing all the time in the upper left corner. I had great problems with typing my account password because keyboard did not obey my actions. After some time, I found out that if I pressed ?r? button, command line appeared. The same for the others buttons, just as ?windows? button was pressed. So, I downloaded SharpKeys and turned off left ?windows? button. After that winkling notification about autorotation disappeared, but the ?o? button began always typing itself, as if it was stuck and it continues to behave the same way. Everything goes well if autorotation button on the right side of laptop is pressed and held, but after pressing this button no notification appears just as if it is broken. If it is not pressed and held, ?o? button types itself and also touchpad works bad. I have also turned off ?o? button, but touchpad still works really bad and it is very uncomfortable not to have ?o? button. What I have already tried to deal with this problem:Checking for virusesDeleting recent softwareAutomatic drivers update via Lenovo websiteKeyboard and Synaptics drivers reinstallationChanging autorotation parameters in registryWhen I disconnected keyboard from the laptop, notification ?Autorotation on/Autorotation off?... My X1 Yoga keyboard stopped responding suddenly. Was working fine, walked away for 15 minutes, came back to wake from sleep and no key response. Track button and click buttons on keyboard work fine. Caps lock and F1 indicator lights don't work either. The touchpad is fine. None of the keys work at all. Didn't install any new software or updates. Bought replacement keyboard from laptopkeyboard.com and replaced but still same exact issue so don't believe it is a faulty membrane (as suspected).  Pulling hair out trying to understand.  Only thought is maybe either the system board or the ribbon cable from the keyboard to the board went bad.  There are two ribbon cables from the keyboard to the system board.  My guess is one is for the track buttons and the other for the keys.  Before replacing these, hoping someone has some other idea (maybe like a simple software glitch?).  Thanks.

Hello, I have two Yoga 2 13's - I think both the 59403750 model. Both have the same specs. In one of those Yogas the brightness keys - "F11" and "F12" - do not work and it is full 100% brighness all the time. In the other (good) Yoga they seem to work OK - at least I can get the brighness down a few notches. When I press and hold the Fn key to get F11 or F12 to work the *seem* to do what F11 or F12 would do normally - e.g. in a word processor or browser. So it seems maybe just the brighness function of those keys are not working. Lenovo has calimed that this is not a hardware problem and they are not responsibile for it under warranty. I have done a little reading some time ago and seen something similar that was maybe fixed by installing updated video drivers. Well, that did not work - as of a couple months ago. At the time I also updated the BIOS - again no luck. Any ideas /inputs you might have are appreciated. Thank you.
