Ideapad 300-14IBR - Touchpad not working

Q: Ideapad 300-14IBR - Touchpad not working

I have this problem with an ideapad that was handed down to me for repair. The touchpad doesn't work. It came with Win 10 preinstalled, and also the ELAN driver. When I try to use the touchpad, it does nothing. The clic button works, so if I disable the touchpad with the Fn key, it disables it (that way I know it's not disabled when I try to use it). Using a USB mouse works just fine. I did everything I found in the forum: reinstalling windows, the drivers, using older drivers, updating the OS, changing sensibility options and so on, but nothing seems to work.I'm pretty desperate, since the phone assistance didn't solve my problem either. So, help me guys, please?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I am trying to do a recovery for my 100S but at about 45% it says error and stops. Now the computer doesn't load windows and I'm stuck on the Lenovo screen. I thought I had a solution when I saw Lenovo had a Lenovo Recovery Digital Download Service (RDDS). Basically this allows me to create a USB drive that has the recovery on it. I tried it but at 10% it says error and then stops. Now the computer just keeps going into the boot menu and anything I select nothing happens. Right now my IdeaPad is a paperweight. I can't even get back into the recovery menu. Every time I startup it goes into the boot menu. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Touchpad not working on ideapad 300. How do I fix ...

Hi there, Tom ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Just found the same problem with my Ideapad 500. Touch pad completely non responsive.
Under start menu, settings, devices, mouse & touchpad, additional mouse options, elan tab. The elan touchpad settings were completely grayed out and unavailable.

So from there I went to the window search in the task bar and typed in "computer management? and opened the computer management desktop app. Under device manager selected mice and other pointing devices and then elan input device. In the elan properties window that opened I selected uninstall to uninstall the driver and in the next box that opened warning that the driver was about to be uninstalled l checked the delete driver and then OK.
Then restarted windows. In the process of restarting windows detected the elan touchpad as a new device and installed the driver in time for the login screen. So my elan touch pad is now working again.

I am assuming that the driver had been corrupted in the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to 10

Touchpad driver for windows 10
Touchpad driver for windows 8.1

Update us how it goes.

STORAGE, DISK HEALTH, BATTERY, OVERHEATING My laptop is 1,5 years old. I think its ergonomic and good to use.  But; Storage is way too low, you have 10gb free space with default apps and drivers,  Each process has become too slow to be done, even though opening browser or file manager. Battery life reduced to 2 hours on internet use. (Only reading)  After 30 minutes of reading pages, keyboard is untouchable (middle part).  I hope these problems are in warranty conditions.

My laptop started giving various BSODs during normal use, so I decided to reinstall Windows 10, but every time the installer either hangs or gives me a BSOD, with codes such as DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION and BAD_OBJECT_HEADER. I tried installing Win10 on another PC and then moving the hard drive over, but I can't get to the desktop either because it also gives me a BSOD. I am now trying to get Windows 7 working, but I cannot install drivers without getting into Safe Mode, because every time I try to install a driver, either through Device Manager or the provided setup, the setup hangs and does not complete, and the system gets extremely sluggish, not even being able to open up Task Manager or to Ctrl+Alt+Del. These hangs and extreme slowdowns also show up at random times as well. The only driver I couldn't get to install in Safe Mode was the SM Bus Controller driver, and trying to get it through Windows Update gave me the only BSOD I've gotten on the PC on Win7. I've performed numerous drive and memory checks, and also tried with different memory sticks and hard drives, but the problems persist. Has anyone experienced such a big problem? Any directions to include crash dump files would also help.

My laptop stopped working and I have started troubleshooting it today and have hit roadblock after roadblock trying to figure out what could be wrong.  When i turn the power on the power button turns on and the LEDS on the indicator bar at the bottom turn on but the screen turns off. I have tried to hard reset. I have removed the battery also to hard reset. Also has not worked. Tried connecting to the AC adapter after testing the AC adapted itself which is still measuring at 20V and the screen will flash white for a second when its plugged in without the battery. I checked the heat sink to make sure it was working and it si working fine. When I removed the fan though the thermal paste underneath was less than minimal and it fealt greasy. I don't think my CPU would have burnt up though because though becasue my system should have responded and triggered to shutdown. Everything is plugged in appropriately. All my memory is appropriately placed and nothing traumatic has happened to this laptop. Has not been dropped, stepped on, nothing.  I'm concerned maybe my motherboard shorted out but I feel liked that would be a little extreme. Do you have other suggestions for troubleshooting? I'm leaving it on the charger overnight before I mess with it again tomorrow! Thanks!

A:Ideapad 100s 14IBR memory upgrade

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

The reason the memory slots are not mentioned in the manual is because there are no memory slots available.  The Ideapad 100s product line comes with the memory soldered directly to the motherboard so it is not socketed and can not be upgraded.  Sorry!

Hi All, First off thank you for this community it's been incredibly helpful. I think I may have bricked my 100s-14IBR and need some advice. Immediately upon first boot I get BSOD and following that I begin bootlooping in to the Windows Advanced Options menu giving me the option to boot into Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, etc. Safe Mode Fails, Start Windows Normally Fails, and Last Known Good Configuration takes me back to the BSOD. So, I threw up my hands and decided to re-install Windows 10. However, now the system doesn't act like it wants to boot to Windows 10 from USB stick. I simply keep geeting a boot loop into Windows Advanced Options Menu. Have I bricked my device? I can still enter the BIOS and the Boot Menu via the Novo button. However, n... Read more

Hi, I have had my Lenovo Ideapad 100s-14IBR for just over a year now. I had a few issues during this time such as the screen goes black and a battery issue. I sent the laptop back for repairs which were done. A problem though was they sent it back now and wifi was not working. Once in a while, it would let me connect to a connection but it the signal would be one bar or it won't connect. Usually, it says no available connections (wifi symbol dark grey with red cross). This has been like this nearly for 5 months and I've had enough. I've tried updating drivers etc but nothing works. I troubleshoot problems and it says "problem with wireless adapter or access point." This laptop is on windows 10. Please Help!

Hi.
I bought an Ideapad 100S-14IBR in september 2016 and its battery has been greatly reduced since last year. I could stay unplugged at least 5 hours with internet switched on or 8 hours with everything switched off and low luminosity. Now I struggle to get more than 3 hours with everything off. I tried recalibrating the battery, hasn't proved useful.

I haven't abused the battery, I use my computer on average less than once a day, I don't leave it plugged. On my battery report I have 22 000 mWh out of 33 000 mWH design capacity. This is really annoying since I need to bring this computer to study at school but it can barely made it. Does anyone have an explanation ? Otherwise I would like to know if the warranty (which is still active) covers a battery replacement ?

Thanks
