I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am trying to connect dual monitors but it says your pc can't project to another screen. I am not sure what to do...any help is great. I have the Graphics Drivers Intel Q35 chipset. I looked online and it says the product is discontinued. Do I need to install a new graphics card? I am just confused. BTW.. I don't know anything about technical issues, or hardware...So I'll need layman terms.

I have two laptops, an E5570 from work and a E5580 as private. I would like to connect dual 2560x1440 screens (Dell U2717D) to especially the E5570. How can this be done?
I would assume that I can connect this through the e-port2 advanced port replicator, but can't find any documentation to confirm this and see a forum post indicating the e5570 might limit it to 1920x1200 for some odd reason.
For info, it has the AMD R7 video chip.

I have just purchased a Lenovo Y900i and I am having an issue with connecting dual monitors on my PC.My computer has two HDMI ports and one VGA port. However, only one HDMI port actually seems to work and the VGA does not.I have test both monitors and neither monitor is faulty. When I connect the monitors to the non-working HDMI port or to the VGA; they seem to sense that they are connected to something, but obviously do not display anything. However, when I go to the display options in System, it does not detect the monitor.I have also tried going into the NVDIA Control Panel to try to detect the device, but that is not working either.I have tried changing resolution settings, but to no avail. I have checked BIOS and there seems to be nothing about display or port options that would assist me in activating any particular port.I have a feeling that the issue has something to do with adaptor settings, but alas I am not tech savvy enough to figure this one out by myself.Currently both monitors are connected to HDMI ports.Model: Lenovo Y900iOperating System: Windows 10Graphics Card: NVDIA GeForce GTX 1080

Having just upgraded from XP using the Nvidia dual monitor desktops for years, I was surprised to find Windows 7 has this feature in-built with the added bonus of slideshow desktop images C00L!
So beyond Win7 eye candy which is better, Does it come down to games running faster under the Nvidia dual desktops, what is the general preference here?

A:Is Nvidia dual monitors a poor cousin to Windows 7 dual monitors?..

afaik, there is no real performance difference, as all stuff is handled by the nvidia driver anyway.

And of course the more monitors the higher performance hit as there is more screen surface to work on (the same as increasing resolution).

Btw, the main pityfall of the multiple monitors is that the taskbar is only in the primary monitor, but there are a ton of good third party programs that can handle this, like Actual Multiple Monitors.

I was wondering if there is any type of adapter that I can get to plug into my laptop so that I can use dual screens. I have a HP Pavilion laptop running Windows XP. When I go into the screen settings it has the option of using dual monitors (it actual says multiple monitors) but there is only one monitor plug on the outside of the laptop. So does this mean i need an adapter or does this mean that I can plug in a monitor and use the plugged in one and the laptop one.

Hi,
It might not be exactly what you are looking for but I'm delighted with SplitView It gives you two half size screens so you can have two progs open and running side by side. I can - for no real reason! have IE open on one and Firefox open on the other. Or a Word doc one side and a movie on the other.
I find it really useful when doing cut & paste. You can easily switch between two screens or one.
Hopefully this is a link:

I have no connection with the product other than being a very satisfied user.

Perhaps of interest?

You first need to check the product specifications of your all-in-one PC to see if it specifically has an HDMI Input connector. Most computers only have HDMI Outputs, but some with HDMI inputs do exist.

So i have a HP HDX16t with a 512MB Geforce 9600M GT video card running Win7 64bit Home Premium. The laptop has a VGA and an HDMI output. I currently have an external monitor (19" ViewSonic VX900) hooked up to the VGA output. Does anyone know if i can hook my second external monitor (also ViewSonic VX900) up as well through the HDMI port? The VX900 has VGA and DVI-D inputs, so i would definitely need an HDMI to DVI adapter (which i don't have currently). I have searched around on this, but havn't been able to find anything conclusive. Nvidia's 9600m GT page is sorely lacking in details.

I know i could set this up by buying a Matrox DualHead2Go adapter as well, but i was hoping to avoid spending an extra $200 that i would rather put into upgrading my aging monitors. Also the apparent downside to the DualHead2Go adapter is that i would need to place both monitors on one side of my laptop vs one on either side (as i had hoped to do).

I have an old Compaq 1200 laptop. It had Windows ME when I got it. I noticed when I first turned it on, the display properties showed that there were 2 monitors when really there's only one (the LCD screen). And the desktop is larger than my laptop screen, so I have to place the mouse on the edges of the screen to get to the rest of the desktop. I figured once I wiped it and installed XP it would go away, but it isn't. I don't see anything in the BIOS either, the BIOS is pretty limited. Has anyone seen this before?

A:Laptop shows dual monitors, but I only have one. ???

Most laptops have a dual monitor graphics adapter, the two screen setup is very normal. It is for using an external monitor.

If your screen is displaying in "pan" mode where the display overlaps the actual screen, you have set the resolution too high.

You should always use only the "native resolution" on an LCD screen.

Hi there guys, my name is James. I'm new to 7 Forums so please help me out!
In my work office I have dual monitors connected to a single desktop computer via DVI. I usually work both at work and home so I use my laptop alot. When I'm at home I need more desktop space so I bought 2 cheap monitors that only support VGA inputs. But because I'm using a laptop I only have 1 VGA panel. I have bought a USB 3.0 to VGA adapter and I have installed all necessary drivers to run it. So here is my issue with my display.

In the Resolution Settings it shows 3 displays. 1 Saying Mobile PC Display, 2 saying HP vs17 (My Monitor) and 3 saying Generic Non-PnP Monitor. There is nothing wrong with the monitor as it worked fine on my old windows 7 laptop. There are 2 issues here:
1.) The second monitor is called Generic Non-PnP Monitor and it's default resolution is 800x600 even though it's native resolution is 1024x1024.

2.) The screen is not being displayed even though my computer thinks it is being displayed.

If anyone can help me with my issues it will be much appreciated. I will list some basic specs and If you need any more description details feel free to ask.

SPECS:
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
PROCESSOR: Intel Core 2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66 GHz 1.66 GHz or Intel Centrino Duo
RAM: 3.00 GB
SYSTEM: 32 Bit Operating System

I just had a quick question about dual monitors. I have vista home premium 64bit and am on a laptop. i hook up my laptop to my hdtv through a hdmi cable and i can get the dual monitor thing to work. Is there a way i can put my laptop screen to sleep or on a screen saver without doing the same for the tv screen which is what the movie is playing on???? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

A:Running dual monitors question about laptop screen

You should be able to set your power settings so that only the monitor on your laptop turns off when you close the screen. Just make sure that your hard drives are set to keep spinning and that it doesn't go into sleep mode.

You could set these to be the settings when you are plugged into AC power.

"Power Options" are available under the control panel. You can change your monitor behaviors on the left side.

You answered your own question. Common Mobile graphic cards only support 2 displays any given time, be it internal+external or external+external.

Common low to mid-high NV or AMD cards do the same.

Only the new Haswell will support 3 monitors in the case of Intel.

EDIT: You could also try a USB to VGA adapter for the 3rd monitor.

Hello,

I am a construction estimator and need to add a second external monitor to my daily work setup.

Currently I use a laptop (2015 HP Envy) with an HDMI to one external monitor (27" AOC). I use the laptop screen for my email and internet viewing and I use the 27" monitor for my work software program (PlanSwift). I am running Windows 10 and I am using that "classic shell" program to make it look like Windows 7.

I want to still be able to use my external monitor for my work software program and my laptop screen for my email/internet. I'd like to get a second external monitor so I can keep a large spreadsheet open as well that is too big to view on my laptop screen.

My question is how do I do this? Treat me like I'm 5 please with your explanation. Do I just buy a monitor and connect it along with my other monitor through an HDMI splitter (does this exist) to my only hdmi laptop port? (I dont have a vga port)

Also I want a large second external monitor, 27" to 36" inches- my budget is $500. Can I buy a cheap 32" flatscreen tv and use this or do i need to buy an actual monitor?

Once I connect the two monitors I think I can trouble shoot my way through getting them to work or hopefully there is a guide I can google or that you can recommend.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi! I just upgraded to Win8 this weekend and so far I really like it. I discovered something this morning that now that the weekend is over is bugging the crap out of me and I need help. I work from home and use this alot so it would be helpful.

I am trying to do a couple things I could easily do in 7,
- have Chrome open in both monitors at once with different things on them.
- currently Chrome has no minimize/maximize buttons on the upper right like it used to. Makes it very hard to multitask.

I have 2 monitors, the main is a 23" touch screen and the second is an 18" non-touch screen.

Also, is there a way to have the taskbar to appear at the bottom always like it used to?

Thanks! I really appreciate the help!

A:Windows 8 Dual Monitors, need help having browser open in both monitors

Answered my own question. Google Chrome was showing in App mode. When I downloaded Chrome for 8 there is an option to have it show in desktop mode and the taskbar, minimize/maximize, and multi window option came back. YAY.

Now if someone could tell me why windows 8 won't fill the screen at the resolution recommended for my 23" monitor I'd be good!

I have an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 9600 video card. It's been working properly for quite awhile and now suddenly the cursor moves to the second monitor when I drag the cursor beyond the bottom of the first monitor.

It used to go from one monitor to the other by dragging it from left-to-right. I can't figure out what caused it to start doing this or how to go about getting it back to the way it was before. Any ideas how to change it back. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

A:Dual Monitors - cursor changes monitors vertically instead of horizontally

Display Properties - Settings - Drag the monitors to side-by-side position with the mouse, it thinks they are one obove the other.

A:Lenovo Thinkpad X1 yoga 1st gen connect 2 external monitors apart from laptop display via onelink VG

Hi,

The way I read the X1YG1 base specs it supports two independent monitors.  Apologies, but I can't quite parse your post.  Does "apart from laptop screen" mean that you want 3 monitors total, or two and the laptops's display is off?

supports external digital monitor via HDMI or Mini DisplayPort;supports dual independent displays;

Hi @all, I just bought an S340-14IIL Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81VV connecting a monitor with the HDMI port is no problem but I want to connect a monitor with the USB-C s (USB 3.1 Gen 1) port for use of multiple screens on the pc. I have two screens one connects with an mini display Port/thunderbolt 2 cable and one connects with  a HDMI calbe. I have tried to connect the monitors with two different USB-c adapters ( those worked fine with my dell xps notebook bevore) but I cant get it to work with this PC(running a usb mouse or keyboard with the adapters works fine). In the manual Lenovo writtes that I should be able to connect monitors with a resulution up to 3840 x 2160 Pixel / 60 Hz on the USB-c Port. Now my question is witch adapters can I use to connect my Laptop with one of my Monitors ( one has HDMI the other mini displayport).Lenovo Support couldnt help me with this would realy appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

i have 2 ati radeon hd 4850's. right now they are connected with the crossfirex bridges and i'm only using one monitor and running crossfirex. i'm thinking of getting a second monitor for better gaming/seeing more stuff in flight sim X.

what i can't find is how to use 2 monitors with 2 cards. do i remove the crossfirex bridges and connect one monitor per card, or do i keep the crossfirex bridges and connect both monitors to the first card, still running crossfirex?

thanks!

A:dual graphics cards, dual monitors, ati crossfireX

I would just connect the 2 monitors to the one card and then extend the desktop using either desktop properties or Catalyst control center.

Can anyone please tell me how to set up another monitor to work with my laptop computer? I've made a little progress, HOWEVER...

I would then like to open my Excel Workbook that has 2 sheets. One sheet is constant data input into various columns using my laptop. In the second sheet, I have formulas which constantly updates the data within a formatted table that I would like displayed onto the external monitor.

My project is to hook the laptop monitor into an overhead flat screen tv using HDMI cable. Then, while sitting in a corner with my laptop entering data, the results would be constantly updated for the audience to see.

Thanks...

Hello dunna, welcome to Sevenforums

With a laptop, (assuming you have an HDMI port), it shouldn't be too difficult. However, laptops are different. For example, mine, you plug in the secondary monitor, and there is a function key (Fn) that you press, and the corresponding key to change the output mode (for me, it is F1). It should let you choose how you want to display to the monitor. Test it out yourself to see, but if you can't find it, let us know. It helps if you provide the laptop type, so we can tell you the keys exactly

I am running W2K Professional with a Matrox G400 DualHead video card. My only complaint is that all of my messages/login screens pop up in the center of the screen (right in the middle of the 2 monitors) and get cut in half.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this? It drives me batty!

Can someone give me an easy step by step for setting up dual monitors?

A:Dual Monitors

Plug in your second monitor and enjoy.

It varies depending on what video card you have. ATI tells us nothing. If it has two ports, you should be able to plug in a second monitor, and have it clone. From there, you need to open the settings and set it to extend not clone. Since I am not familiar with ATI cards, and each one varies, we cannot tell you exactly.

I will bet it will work if you just plug it in though.

Gentlemen,

I'm running Windows Vista 32 bit Home blah, blah, blah, with a NVIDIA GEForce 6150 graphics card.

I have 2 monitors, but believe I need to purchase another video/graphics card.

Anyone smarter than me out there (that was meant to be self depricating), that could recommend a plain jain, cheap graphics card so I can hook up my second monitor? I'm not into gaming, just love having two monitors at work, and once you have two, you can't handle one, right?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

TVich welcome to the forums.

Something like this,

Newegg.com - ASUS EAH3450/DI/256M Radeon HD 3450 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Low Profile Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

would do the trick quite nicely, seeing as gaming is not a concern.

Is there a way to switch between using a single monitor and multiple monitors without going through properties or the control panel?

Is there some sort of OLE I could use to access it all?

Any hints or tips please let me know.

It might be possible to create an autoit program to do this.
It would require a lot of skill and computer knowledge patiance and willing to learn some programing if your up for it. see this link. AutoIt 3.0
THe easiest way is to set it up to simulate mouse clicks and keystrokes. You use note pad to write the script and save it as .au3
A list of functions can be found here Functions
You can also use a nifty little gadget included called AutoIt Window Info which provides you with details about the enviroment your working in.

Other than that i dont know of any other programs
Hope ive been help full
