SCSI Host Adapter problems

Q: SCSI Host Adapter problems

Installing an Adaptec AHA-150X/1510/152X SCSI Host Adapter and everything is working fine except that everytime I reboot i get the following error: "Host Adapter Diagnostic Error press F1 to boot" right after the memory count. This isn't a major problem but I would like it to boot up without having to press F1. The scanner that uses the card works just great, and there are no other noticeable problems. What am I missing here?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: SCSI Host Adapter problems

Well, that usually means that there is some kind of memory conflict with the card.

Maybe with a sound card or modem you have installed... can you try taking out all cards but video and the SCSI? See if the problem goes away? You don't need to let it go into Windows of course - the error happens long before that.

I was scanning some documents into Adobe Photoshop two nights ago using a scsi scanner and all was working fine, I installed a USB printer that same night then after testing it and was sure all was working I shutdown, but the next night when I went back into adobe photoshop to continue scanning I just get an error message saying;

"error scanner not ready! there does not seem to be a scanner installed. Please check the scsi connection and the scsi Id number"

The scsi Id is "7" and the scanner is a Blackwidow, I think made by Devcom, the interface used for scanning is called widowview, when I click on acquire scanner the Id changes to"0" and just displays the above error message

I looked in the device manager and an exclamation mark is by the scsi adapter & in the device status there is a message that reads;

"This device is using an interrupt request resource that is in use by another device and cannot be shared.
You must change the conflicting setting or remove the real mode driver causing the conflict (code 30)"

I have tried changing the IRQ which is set at (10) but it wont let me, it says windows will manage it even if I untick use automatic settings

I have looked through some other IRQ's and there are two others set at (10) these are pci audio device & IRQ holder for PCI steering, could that be the conflict?

I am using Windows XP. I recently installed a new modem. The modem works beautifully, but I cannot print. When I look at the device manager I notice that the Adaptec AHA-1502 SCSI Host Adapter is using IRQ 10 and I/O Range 0140-0154. THe Generic 56K HCF Data Fax Modem is also using IRQ 10 I/O Range EC00-EC07 and Memory Range E9000000 - E900FFFF. There is a check mark on both property boxes for use automatic settings. No Conflicts are listed in the conflicting device list for the modem, but the conflicting device list for the SCSI host adapter lists these conflicts:
Interrupt Request 10 used by: Generic 56k HCF Data Fax Modem
Intel(r) 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller.
The Use automatic check box is checked but grayed out in the property box for the modem, but is checked and not grayed out in the property box for the SCSI host adapter. Any suggestions?

A:Modem Conflicts with SCSI Host Adapter

If it were mine I would go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and delete all references to a modem.

Shut down and move your modem to PCI #3 or the third slot down from the AGP slot)

Boot up and enter BIOS setup menu.....when you get there, then go to the PnP area and DISABLE it if you are using WinXP. (If it were Win98, then you would enable it)

Save and Exit and reboot

When it boots, add the latest and best drivers from the manufacturer's website for the modem.

That should solve your problem.

Every time I start up Windows, it asks me to install some driver for the SCSI/RAID Host Controller. I can't seem to install it, because something fails in the update/install. I'm not even quite sure what that does, but I do know that it's annoying (pops up every time i startup), and that it has to do with my computer not being able to stand by anymore (at least I think)

I don't know very much about this stuff, so if I need to post something else, I will

I bet the install fails because you have no drives connected to the controller. Correct me if i'm wrong. A simple solution would be to disable the controller in the BIOS.

Im running a pentium 4 PC with Windows XP pro. All has been fine until yesterday where it took a long time to boot. It went through the usual boot sequence and displayed the black xp screen but then the screen goes black and it sits for about a minute before going on to the blue windows logon screen. I checked my device manager and my SCSI/RAID host controller has an exclamation next to it and it says its unrecognised and 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)' I havent installed any new hardware or software recently.

Why has it suddenly done this and how can i fix it?

I tried a system restore but this didnt do anything. Is it broken or will a restore from the recovery cd fix the problem?

Code 10 errors are common. Try uninstalling the device then reboot. When a new device is detected reinstall the latest drivers for it. If you still get a code 10 you may have a hardware problem.

Please post your system specs under your User Profile - not in this thread, but in your profile.

I will conclude that you are searching for updates using Windows Update. If so, this is not the right place to look.

Hi everyone 1st post

A bit later I can now connect my phone sometimes if I get lucky after the 5th try of connecting. I also heard that Daemon Tools may have something to do with this but I uninstalled it and the problem was still there

My internet explorer keeps closing every time I open it. Sometimes it also happens with my mozilla Firefox. Right now i'm on Firefox and it's ok but Internet Explorer is still acting up. The specified service does not exist as an installed service." Any help will do...

P.S. I have another problem. My Windows Update cannot retrieve updates. When I manually search for updates it doesn't go through. It gives me an error. I think that error is related to the Host Controller.

To me this looks more like some virus infection. Please follow the HJT - 5 steps against malware link in my sig. Go through the 5 steps and read the instructions carefully. Post your final log in a new thread in the HijackThis section and wait for a security tech to review it. Be patient as they are very busy and it can take several days before you get an answer but as soon as you'll get one you'll have quick feedback.

If you have no RAID array and no SCSI drive the missing driver shouldn't be a problem. Find out what your motherboard brand and model is and reinstall the chipset drivers which you'll find on the manufacturer's website. You can use the posting system specs link in my sig to find some programs that will tell you what your motherboard is.

I suspect the problem to be related to these SCSI/RAID controllers.

I have a problem with one of my computers, it stopped recognizing my cdrom drive.
i have an intel motherboard DG33BU that have one IDE slot that i connect the cdrom to it as a Master.
the cdrom drive is not recognized even in the BIOS even after i restored it to default settings, in the feild of cd/dvd drive it say no optical drive... i tried changing IDE cable and even changed the cdrom but it still didnt recognized it.
in the device manager i can see that there is one device not detected properly and it says SCSI/RAID Host Controller with a yellow exlamantion mark and in its properties it shows error code 39.
i tried to uninstall and reinstall that device but with no success, i tried to modify the registry according to some recommendation in other forums but it didnt help.
the computer had daemon tools installed on it. and few spyware programs installed on it.
i cant format the HD since i cant reinstall the OS since i dont have a cdrom and i dont think it will help anyway since the BIOS doesnt recognize the CDROM.

I'd appriciate it if someone can suggest a solution for this problem.

Been trying to setup 2 new sata drives in a raid 0 array using the onboard raid controller on my Chaintech 7njl6 mobo with nforce 2 chipset. Finally got the drives recognized by downloading the samsung utility to scale them back down to 1.5 gb/s, got the array setup but windows does not recognise it.

Windows shows the SCSI/RAID Host Controller as new hardware and cannot find drivers for it, pulling up the found new hardware window on every start. I cannot find drivers for it on my own and the array isn't functioning otherwise. The array does not show up in disk manager or in my computer, but on boot the array is listed as healthy.

Been scouring the internet unable to find any drivers specific to my mobo, nforce 2, or the raid controller that is listed on boot "NVIDIA RAID 4.53 DRIVER".

I've overcome so many roadblocks getting it this far, would hate to have to tack nvidia support at this point.

Could this have something to do with the windows setup thing where it says f6 to load raid drivers? im not trying to put an os on the array, but i tried that anyways and it said i would have to have a specific disk for the device.

It sounds like you have a RAID controller on your motherboard. If your hard drive is hooked up to it you'll need to load a driver for it. The motherboard should have come with a CD with drivers on it or you may have to download them. If nothing is hooked up to the RAID controller then you can probably just ignore it.

If you can get on-line with this computer then use Windows Update and go thru Custom search and then find the updates on the left side that should be under hardware or something to that effect you might find the hardware updates for the computer there, if not then find the make and model of the motherboard and go to that manufacturers web site to get the proper drivers needed.

Let me start by saying I know some basic computer stuff, enough to get me in trouble but not enough to help myself out of a jam, here's how the story goes.

Ok my computer was not being able to connect to the internet. So I called my ISP and they told me to uninstall my Ethernet Gigabit Connector in device manager (why I dont know) so I did, and when I tried to reinstall it, it had a yellow exclamation point on it and so did the SCSI Raid Controller. I have since found a driver to fix the Ethernet part of it but the SCSI Raid controller is still with a yellow exclamation point and everytime I go to reinstall it it says it has encountered an error. I have tried rebooting, going to ASUS website to get a new driver and searching everywhere on the internet...all to no avail.

I go to the cmd prompt and I have no IP address, and when I type in ipconfig/renew I get nothing but timed out as well. This is a second computer I'm using to ask this question on which is connected and working fine once I bypassed the router and went straight to the modem with it. Any help is appreciated...thanks in advance.

Hi All!

I'm new here, so I'm guessing as to which forum this should go in. Please forgive if I've put it in the wrong place!

I'm having some issues with my desktop computer. Over the past few months it's been running slower and slower, especially online and especially when streaming graphics are concerned. Webkinz runs rediculously slow, and movies on youtube are pretty much unwatchable.

There was also this odd problem of the computer not being able to properly boot from "off". It would run through the RAM test and identify the various hardware (disk drives, CD ROM, DVD, etc) and then freeze indicating that I needed to insert a boot disk (or something like that). I'd then give it a CTRL ALT DEL and it would run through the startup just fine. I'm sorry that I can't remember the exact error message, but the problem seems to have disappeared after the below actions were completed.

I started trying to fix things by clearing room on my harddrive. I'm not much of a computer tech, but I figured a fuller harddrive might cause some issues. I got rid of all my music and video files and backed up all my photos and deleted them. I also removed everything "superfluous" that I could find (e.g. RealPlayer, Java, Adobe, etc). There was no effect.

I use an ATI Radeon 9800 video card, so I thought maybe if I reinstalled, or at least updated the drivers, that might help. I use Omega drivers. There was no increase in performance.

Does anyone know what this means or how to correct it?

A:Scsi/Raid host controller device is preventing the machine from entering Standby

It means that Windows doesn't know how to put your scanner (or more precisely the (virtual) SCSI controller) into standby.

As it says, install the latest drivers for the equipment from the original manufacturer. Also, in Device Manager, check the device properties and see if Windows is allowed to turn it off.

Man, I can't find drivers for this anywhere. Microtek acts like they've never heard of it. It's a Microtek parallel to SCSI adapter cable with model#EPPC. Are there any good driver sites besides driverguide.com? Or better yet, does anyone know where to get the drivers for it (win98)?

A:Microtek Parallel to SCSI adapter

Don't know if that will help or not.....

I own an Adaptec AHA-2940UW SCSI Host Adapter for my Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) system. From the get go the onboard Host Adapter BIOS has never worked, that is, I've never seen the supposed "BIOS Banner" on PC bootup nor has the "CTRL+A" keys have worked. Because of this I've never been able to get my SCSI HDD to work as a boot disk for my OS. Under Windows 2000 Pro the SCSI HDD and Adapter work fine, as well as under real-mode MSDOS when the Adaptec drivers are started. As far as i know my ECS K7S5A mobo has PCI 2.1 compliant slots and are bus mastered. I've even tried the Adapter within another PC (HP Vectra VL800 P4 system) but still no effect.

I've tried flashing the Adapter BIOS when I first purchased the unit 2+ years ago and it worked fine but all subsequent flashing have never worked, perhaps due to the fact that I've always flashed "WITH" the SCSI HDD attached to the adapter (I think this is a no-no?). Attempting to flash now generates the following error message from the "FLASH4.EXE" file:

"No BIOS Detected - BIOS Upgrade Install Not Complete"
Device ID: 8178 | Vendor ID: 9004

From all the information gathered it seems the FLASH4.EXE file, used to flash the BIOS chip, is first checking the BIOS chip contents. I have strong evidence which shows the BIOS chip is currently "blank", wiped clean by an EEPROM clean process. Because there is no data within the BIOS chip the FLASH4.EXE file ... Read more

Can a LSI Ultra320 SCSI adapter run under Win7? I've got an old Dell Precision 530 with this adapter and 3 ULTRA 320 drives running W2K Pro. Just trying to see what I get away with doing with it. Definitely need to get more RDRAM before I do anything. Pity it's only 32bit with twin Xeon processors...

A:Solved: LSI Ultra320 SCSI adapter

Do you have an exact model number? From what I can gather, it's an older model and I don't see any drivers newer then Win2k. So the only real way to know would be to test it. But based on experience with other hardware in Win7, I'd say it's not likely to work.

I'm using XP Home, and in the device manager, under "SCSI and RAID controllers", "SCSI/RAID host contoller has an exclamation point. It says that the registry info for this device may be corrupt (code 19). The trouble shooter and Windows Update tell me to check for updates to the driver (which there are none of) or to reinstall the device (do they mean the driver? I dont see a way to reinstall the device. I dont even know what hardware its needed for). When I uninstall the driver and reboot to reinstall it, it tells me it cant start, and needs to start in the last known good configuration, which was before I unistalled the driver.

A:Anyone know of a SCSI U320 adapter that has Vista 64 support?

Ive taken an Adaptec 29320 LPE PCIe X1 up to 320MB/s and a Seagate Cheetah 146GB 68 pin continous read wright average 110 MB/s i got Vista 64 benchmark ends at 5.9 more is not possible from the Microsoft calc it has to be something like 8 but benchmark comes to an end ;-) at 5.9 :-)!!! after youve plugged in the Adaptec card put in Vista 64 inst.DVD than Hdisk not found put in the Adaptec driver Disk and istall the driver you need! than back to Vista DVD ;-)
Thats it! -If youve installed the Vista go and make a 3.5" Bootdisk with a "mini" DOS on the same disk copy the newest Adaptec 29320LPE BIOS 3.14 ! Than the complete U320 will go faster and more stabel! or try to get the Adaptec 29320 LPE with the newest bios ask your

Gigabyte GA-6LX7 Mb, 400 MHz celeron, 64 meg ram, 13.6 gig Maxtor ide hard drive, 9 gig Seagate scsi hard drive, win 98 se, DTC 3502A scsi adapter, Toshiba scsi cd-rom.
My scsi cdrom works fine, but. I can look at the scsi hard drive in windows and it says that it is only 19.2 meg, I can't access it in windows or dos. The on-board bios for the adapter doesn't find the hard drive or the cd-rom, but, I can still access and use the cd-rom drive.
Also, with ASPI3520.SYS enabled, the adapter and the primary and secondary ide controllers are disabled in device manager, it also makes A: drive use ms-dos mode compatibility.
I used the setup mode of the adapters BIOS to format the hard drive, After it formatted and I continued it says that it can't find a scsi hard drive.

A:SCSI Adapter/hard drive problem

Did you run FDISK and see if the drive is visible there?

Are you sure you have your SCSI termination correct?

If there are 98 drivers for your card you shouldn't need to load a driver file in the CONFIG.SYS - as you have seen it will put you in compatibility mode if you do.

Just checked the DTC site - it says:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Windows 98 Drivers

Included - Use built-in Adaptec 151x/2x drivers <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Is that what you are using?

Is there any way to speed up the BIOS initialization of my SCSI host adapter?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Speeding up SCSI Adapter Boot time?

Not really, but I've never known the 2940UW to take all that long to boot. Is a few seconds really that important? What's connected to the host adapter?

That SCSI external adapter is most likely for a scanner, or maybe a zip drive. Do you have a scanner attached to your computer? If not, you can safely remove it as it isn't needed.

I have a air gapped Sony Vaio VGN-FW230J that I picked up today to work on, and the user doesn't have any discs for it. I am wiping Windows 7 from, and installing Windows XP for them so then can do panel programming for alarm systems with an app that only works on Windows XP from Mircom.
When I booted the installer, it only showed my usb stick for places to install Windows XP, and asked for SCSI adapter disk controller drivers.
And I tried google for the drivers, but I'm not quite sure which one it would be on there drivers page, Sony eSupport - VGN-FW230J - Support, as there is nothing that says SCSI on there.
Can someone please help me out.
I managed to find the SATA NON-RAID drivers on there website. And it's just an exe file, so I extracted it to folder and tried put it on usb stick and plug it into the laptop, but WinXP installer wouldn't let me search on there, instead it just says no Floppy Drive found lol.

Any suggestions?
