Annoying Sound Issue, Very 'Moody' Speakers

Q: Annoying Sound Issue, Very 'Moody' Speakers

Hi All.

We have some very odd speakers here.
We've been having problems with them for a while, but they have gotten to a point where we can't even listen to YouTube videos anymore.

A year ago I noticed I had 'moody' speakers. Sometimes they would work fine, but the next day they could they would have an odd 'echo' effect. The sound would play, but the words are very faint, so it just plays the audio of a track, but no words. It sounds sorta creepy. It didn't happen all the time, so I let it go.

Now recently we can hardly get it to work at all. If we play a song that is just music, it works quite good. But when we play a song off Youtube or on WMP it sounds weird. I don't even know how to explain it. I made a video of what it sounds like on YouTube. This video has people talking. It's an Ipad 2 ad.
How To Fix Our Speakers?! - YouTube

If it does work, you have to be careful you don't move or bump the computer otherwise it will turn off.

I have been trying the 'turn off, turn on' speaker trick. Which HAD been working. But now it doesn't work anymore.

I also had the same problem on My own computer in my room. But that's because the green cord at the back was out. But with this computer the green cord is in perfectly.

The Sound problem is worse on YouTube videos than WMP.
The Sound works perfectly on my earphones. Just instrumental or songs with lyrics. So It is a speaker issue.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Annoying Sound Issue, Very 'Moody' Speakers

If it is ONLY a speaker issue, the first thing to do is "reseat" (unplug then plug back in) all the connectors associated with the speaker system - the connection(s) to the computer and the internal connections between the speakers.

Since the speaker system in your computer room works OK, move that system to the problem computer and hook them up to that computer and see how they work.

What kind of speakers do you have? 2.1 system, just two stereo speakers, a 5.1 surround sound system? and what is brand and model number of the speakers?

Hi Lenovo and everyone, I have two issues with the sound of my Y700-15ISK:I.When any Realtek driver is installed that includes support for the subwoofer, a high pass filter is applied on the main stereo speakers, making sound poorer and more mono-like, especially with enhanced bass using an equalizer.(High pass filter removes low bass frequencies from the main stereo speakers.)(When the default Microsoft driver is installed that does not have subwoofer support, no high pass filter is applied on the main stereo speakers.)Is there a way to disable the high pass filter? I would like bass to come from the main stereo speakers as well. I see no such option on any of the available GUIs, is there such an option from a Command Line Interface? If there is no such option currently, could you put this option in a subsequent driver release, or simply remove the high pass filter from the driver? If you do not have the resources to do so, could you enable us to modify the driver source code and create a custom driver without high pass filter? I am sure the community would love the enhanced music coming from this and similar laptops using the updated driver.(Win 10 or Win7) II.Only on Win7:Subwoofer is out of sync with the main stereo speakers resulting in echo.Happens using Lenovo's Win7 64-bit, Win10 64-bit, and Realtek's generic driver as well. Could you guys fix this? Does anyone have a solution for these? Thanks,Andras

Hello!!

I have recently been hearing the sound as if my computer is going to bluescreen, however it doesn't. When I am listening to music, a movie, a game, etc. it makes a sound repeatedly for about 2 seconds then stops and continues playing. I am not sure if this is a hardware issue or a configuration problem but it is obnoxiously annoying! It happens randomly probably about twice every 10 minutes.

You mean the audio stutters? It sounds like some hardware drain, for example the CPU or other hardware being heavily burdened during audio playback. I'd suggest running some tests on some of the components.

After I installed an SSD drive in my system. Whenever I restart my computer I have to reinstall my sound driver, because it will boot up and do nothing but high pitch squeal. On top of that, after awhile windows media player will pop up and I'm unable to close it. Every time I close it, it will just pop back up. I've tried everything I can think of. I'm using a Creative xfi gamer, and I have the on board audio disabled.

Processor: Core 2 Duo 3.6
Motherboard: Gigabyte P35
Hard drive: Corsair Force 120 SSD
Video Card: MSI NVIDIA 460 768
Sound Card: Creative Xfi Gamer
Memory: 2 x 2gb Crucial Ballistix
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

A:Annoying Sound Issue

I would say you probably need to just get a disc drive and use that instead as your OS drive, and have the SSD as an off drive for games and such. SSD's arn't really faster, a HDD with a fast spin speed and transfer rate (especially with the 6GB/s new ones) is faster. Also, since SSD is so new, they are not really reliable, you simply got caught in the guinea pig process, its why I don't buy new OS and stuff for a year so new update can come out.

Hi, hoping somebody might be able to point me in the right direction. Was having a memory issue, so I pulled and re-installed memory; per instruction (not here, Dell).

I'm running a Dell XPS 400 and everything is working, but the speakers. I've gotten the Install new Hardware prompt for the Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus above a couple of times, and try to go through the process and then something keeps popping up with an IDT Audio High Definitioin Codec.

I've found some stuff on the forms about simliar, but was hoping somebody might point me in a good direction. I've gone to Dell support, but before I stupidly try to download a bunch of drivers I thought this time I might ask for help first.

Ran the diagnostics, heard beeps from my speakers, but can't play sound...

Hello. Download and install a fresh copy of the Realtek audio driver. If doing that doesn't fix the problem, switch to the windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked .7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, sometimes you have to restart, sometimes not.[To get back to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]
If the headphones still don't work after doing that, it is because of hardware failure.

Hi All. I hope you are all well!

I have fitted a C-Media CMI8738 MX PCI sound card to my Windows 7 PC.

I have tried all the drivers available and I am experiencing horrible sound output from any of the outputs I try. It sounds corrupted, a sort of scrambled pulsing sound. I know my digital amplifier works ok as I am using it for other hardware devices.

I know its an old card but it has drivers for Win7. Just thought I'd give it a try

Any help would be really appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Hi everyone,
since "upgrading" to Windows 10 (I have tons of different issues, this sound problem is only the most annoying one, so i really wouldn't call it an upgrade so far) I'm experiencing an incredibly annoying sound issue. Whenever I'm watching a video on Youtube in full screen or playing a game my sound will constantly cut out for several seconds, then work for a few and cut back out again. I've spent hours online trying to find a fix for this and I've tried almost everything I came across (updating sound drivers, reinstalling sound drivers, messing around in the services.msc folder), but absolutely nothing helped.
So if anyone has an idea how I could maybe fix this I would be very grateful, I'm using the Via HD Audio driver for Windows 10, maybe that information helps.

Ok. So I have a bit of a goal... It is that Every sound that comes out of any application on my computer comes out through the same audio jack no mater what
Here is my problem. So like YouTube and everything else works out just fine and dandy, however I have a software called Kontakt. And when you go to its audio out the settings you can only set it to WASAPI driver, and Realtek High Definition Audio. And this works sorta, if you go to the mixer you can see that it is outputting audio, however my speakers are not getting it. I have tried putting my speakers in different slots on my computer and it won't work!
Here are some pictures that show whats up. It is important to note under the speakers tab that when i make noises in kontakt it makes green go up only under the Realtek tab. Although kontakt is also in the speakers tab it does not seem to work like that. Also the kontakt settings are set to the only thing that they can be. For some reason it says "stopped" IDK why but before when it said something else it still didnt work. https://app.box.com/s/ngp8wq4j50iybsmt9jmdnkl2hylgnul7
So how can I get everything to play out of one jack?
Also microphones arent working.... Not through the case jack nor the one in the back.

Hi there. I have a weird sound issue that I have been trying to solve for a while now.

Basically i have these pops/clicks every now and again when playing any type of sound, whether it be DVD or song or media file.

The pops actually register in Sony Vegas on the Master track mixer as sudden peaks in sound, but only ever on the left hand channel.

This is weird as it means it isn't coming from a dirty connection between speakers and the sound card. If open up the volume box on the task bar, you can see when the pops happen in the mixer. I don't what it could be.

I have tried turning off quad sli, and i have tried using the on board sound but this annoying pop is still there.

My specs are:

Motherboard: Asus Striker 2 formula 780i
Graphics Card: Nvidia 9800 GX2 x 2 in quad sli
4GB ram
Sound Card: Creative Audigey Sound Blaster SE 7.1
Speakers...just in case: Logitech x-240
Processor: Core 2 Extreme QX9650

I think thats all. Any help would be amazing. Editing really has slowen down, as far as audio goes, as i can't properly adjust soudn due to this. It's weird how the pops are actually produced by the computer

PS All drivers are up to date

Hi guys, just reinstalled windows 7. everything works great, then I went to paly a file and to my surprise, no sound. Tested speakers on another device, they work. Sound card drivers are working and up to date.

When I play a media file, I can see the sound gage go. So I went in sounds, playback device, and all I see in there is my sound card, no speakers or headphones icon. Thus no sounds from speakers. Tried other headphones/speakers they also dont work on the PC.

First two screenshots are my Device Manager, third one shows my playback devices.. My wife needs this for her business and I am losing sleep over this for days now I tried everything. Any ideas?

What sound card do you have?

Double-click on the HD audio device in Device Manager - what is driver and date?

Usually there is an audio codec/ drivers, e.g., IDT, Realtek, etc... that must be installed.

What are system specs - exact model number from label on back of PC, please.

With Dell Support Assist microphone test -- earphone playback is good, on-board speaker is terribly scratchy. The sound card lists as "ATI high Definition Audio Device" and "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC."
The laptop is Dell Studio 15 (1555) running windows 7 Professional, 236GB used, 214GB free space, Intel P8700 2.53 GHz Processor, 64 bit OS, 4GB memoryThe built-in speakers used to sound good but now they are too scratchy to understand. However the headset and external speakers (both 3.5 mm jack interface) sound good and a HDMI connected projector sounds good.
I will appreciate advice.

A:On-board speakers are scratchy but external speakers & headphones sound good?

Hello. As a test, switch from the IDT audio driver to the Windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "IDT High Definition Audio Device".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, then no need to restart.[To get back to the IDT driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]
If you get the noise while using the native driver then it is not a driver issue, which would mean there is a strong chance of speaker failure, particularly since the noise is not in headphones. If you would like to replace the speakers I can point you to the service manual.

Sounds like a codec problem as I had a similar problem with Real player...get the k-lite codec pack here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...codec_pack.htm and install the VLC player from here http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Hopefully this will cure your problem as it worked for me.

I hope someone will be able to help me with this.
My Windows XP maching refused to boot. It goes until after finding the boot record on the disk, and then stops right there, leaving a blank screen. When trying safe mode, it stops while loading windows/system32/config/system.
After rebooting a few times (I tried all different methods - Ctrl-Alt-Del, reset button, turning off and then on, plugging out and in), it suddenly "agrees" to boot, and upon entering Windows it leaves a message "One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful". Then Windows works normally until the next reboot - then the whole story repeats itself.
Initially I thought (as anyone would) that the problem was with the hard drive or Windows installation - but it keeps happening even after replacing the hard drive (with a brand new one) and clean installation of Windows.
Could it be a motherboard/CPU/RAM issue? But if one of those were faulty, wouldn't it stop the booting at a much earlier stage? How could that be explained?

I have an old HP Pavilion 8765C. 900 Mhz Athlon/ 384MB/ 45GB Desktop. Windows ME Operating System
For a long time (more than a year) system boots up depending on its mood. If I wait for 10 days or more and start it up it turns on, on the very first attempt. Starts the boot up process goes to the point of recognizing different drives and then hangs. Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and now it would boot up fine. I could keep it running for as long as I want (8-10 hours never tried beyond that).
If I turn it on say after a gap of 2 days, then initially no activity (nothing shows up on the monitor). Then as I turn off the power, if during that process (>10 seconds) I turn the power on then it gets powered on. Starts to boot up. Gets stuck (like above) but finally can get it to work.
If I try to start it at less than 2 days gap, it just won't boot up, no matter how many hard resets I try.

Hi. I have Windows XP. I also use iTunes for my Nano.

After Comcast switched to Norton from McAfee, I started having lots of problems, esp. with CD burning. I never had problems before and I know it's not the CD burner that's broken because sometimes I can get it to work, but with much frustration, trial and error, and since I am NOT COMPUTER SAVVY.

My main problem is when I go to iTunes. Yesterday I attempted to burn a CD from one of my playlists (which incidentally the songs are NOT IN MY LIBRARY, just on playlist), it refused to burn and kept on ejecting the disc after 2 tracks. I've wasted 4 good blank CDs.

However, there are days when the burner does not want to twirl at all.

To get it twirling and working, I go to
Start/Set Program Access/Custom/ then I take out Internet Explorer and click on itunes and it will work. Sometimes I have to click on I-E and iTunes to make it to work. I find it's the different combinations that will make it work, but not always the same combinations.

I find myself trying to do this many different ways under "CUSTOM" with its different settings to get it working. It's Hit or Miss.

Short of having to take my laptop to the Geek Squad which I can't really afford this time, is there an easy fix to this, considering I am a computer moron?

I am pretty sure it is not my CD burner, I think it's the connection somewhere that needs to be tweeked to make it work again (before I had Norton). I don'... Read more

I have a XPS m1330 that is roughly a year and a half old, running windows vista. Recently it has been making an annoying clicking or "popping" sound that comes from the speakers. Every twenty to thirty seconds, there is a single (occasionally double) audible pop/click sound played out of the speakers. I am fairly certain that this not a hard drive issue, because the noise seems to stop when the laptop is muted and also when i use headphones or plug my laptop into external speakers, the noise stays, just comes through said headphones or speakers. Ive tried closing all open programs but this does no good. Please help!

I saw on another forum that someone thought this may be related to wireless devices creating interference. Any thoughts on this or a way to test for it.

A:ANNOYING clicking noise coming from my speakers

It is true that wireless devices may be causing interference, and that would in fact be my first guess.

But in the event that it isn't this, I'd suggest reinstalling your audio drivers. But that's really the best I can do for you. Again, my first guess is the wireless interference.

As far as a way to test for it? Take your laptop far away from anything like a cell phone, microwave, etc.

Every day I hear an annoying beeping sound from my computer speaker subwoofer that sounds like some kind of a digital code (think morse code) that lasts for 1-2 seconds, then about 1 second later another code that lasts about 1 second. It happens several times every day, and I can't pinpoint a certain time of day.

I hear it from my subwoofer even though the volume is turned all the way down, and at the same time from my am/fm clock radio which also has the volume turned all the way down (which is the primary reason it annoys me... because it wakes me up). That also tells me it is coming from the power line, not coming from the computer.

I have my computer and speakers on an EMI/RFI filtered outlet, but whatever it is still gets through. I am thinking a large isolation transformer might work, and garden variety UPS may not help. Has anybody had experience with this?

Hey Guys, I'm stuck on something strange.

I have successfully connected my XP laptop to my Vista pc but there are strings attached. My XP laptop seems fine to "see" my Vista machine. However, my Vista machine can ONLY see the XP laptop when the laptop is already browsing the Vista network window. In other words, as soon as I close the network window on my XP laptop I lose the connectivity from the Vista to the XP. Did I say that clearly enough?

FYI, the network is wireless through a 2-Wire uverse router and I can see both systems on the router set-up screen. I can ping by name and IP # from the laptop to the Vista machine. Like I said, when the XP laptop initiates connection then Vista is fine. As soon as the XP lets go, Vista can no longer "see" the XP laptop.

I'm running Kaspersky Internet Security but don't see anything in my settings that would create a problem like this.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, first I'd disable ALL firewalls, just to see if that's the issue, it's a simple thing to test.

Good morning everyone,

I am having issues with sound on the M82 or 3306G1U as stated on the subject. The sound works perfectly fine for everything with the exception of Istation, www.istation.com. I did notice that this is only affecting 2 out of the 20 plus computers we have, so its a bit hard to say its just the model. I have tried updating the drivers to the latest version, and as well verified that it was not just the input device for front and back jacks being wonky. Oddly enough the support agent I worked with, used TeamViewer and was able to hear the application just fine, however when I used speakers it was very, very faint but I could also hear it.

Is there any general help anyone can provide me to pinpoint the problem further?

Mod:  added app name causing problem to Subject line; and corrected the model number and system type

A:Lenovo ThinkCentre M82: Sound issues with Istation e-learning app, faint sound with speakers

I am having issues with sound on the M92 or G1U3306 as stated on the subject.

I'm not finding that model number, can you verify?   Running 'sys info' can usually also provide the model number (do not post serial numbers.)   And OS info and Istation version might be helpful.   Thx.

I have no applications running at all in Windows. I have the system sound muted, but I still have some sound coming out of the speakers. It sounds like some talk radio. I also have all networking disabled. I have no idea where this is coming from.

How can I tell if any process on my computer is accessing the sound drivers?

A:Solved: computer sound muted but sound is still coming from speakers

In some cases, if the speakers are cheaply made and not sheilded, they can acutally pickup radio waves (especially if you live near a radio tower). Does the "Talk radio" continue if the speakers are on, while the computer is off?

I have a problem with audio on system speakers Inspiron 13 5368 2-in-1. I have exhausted all my ideas.
The audio is fine through plugged in headset but through system speakers it starts loud and fades away to very faint audio coming from two speakers.Could this be some type of Auto volume control? This problem exists with ITunes with local media, DIRECTV, Slacker, YouTube.
This has existed through several W10 upgrades. I am on the latest W10. No updates available. I have used Dell Auto Update and verified through the website no other drivers are missing or outdated
With the deal Audio I restored to default, disabled equalizer, audio and microphone enhancement. No luck
I have removed audio devices from device manager rebooted to same results. Any other ideas?

Dell Auto Update you're referring to is Dell Support Assist? If no, I suggest you diagnose Audio with Dell Support Assist. Most Dell systems have Support Assist pre-installed. You can check by typing Support Assist onto [Cortana] search box or right click windows logo and then click on 'Programs & Features'. If Support Assist isn't installed on system then I suggest you click on the link below and stroll down to 'Download Now'.

I am getting a laptop. Right now I am deciding between regular "High Definition Audio 2.0" and a "ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Laptop Sound Card with Wireless Receiver Bundle". The latter is 134 dollars more. Would the latter make the output of sound better on external speakers. Say if you're a DJ, and you use the laptop, would the sound coming out of the speakers at those high volumes be much better if you have the better soundcard? Or does it not have any effect on the output sounds? Thanks!

A:Do Sound Cards Effect The Output of Sound To External Speakers?

It affects the external output even more than the one from the integrated speakers.

my computer has no sound. I cannot figure out why. I reinstalled my Avance AC'97 sound driver and no luck. the speakers work fine. does anyone know what i can do? I didn't change anything before the sound went out. It just isn't there.

A:No sound from computer, speakers work fine... Avance AC'97 sound

physically check your cables, as usually this problem is caused by human error. next, check all of your volumes. what OS, service pack, and version are you running?

I have an MSI 785GTM-E45 Mother Board. I have no sound coming from the speakers. Tried new speakers and still no sound. If I click on the speaker Icon on the bottom right it shows the speaker graph going up and down as sound is being produced. I tried the head phones and nothing coming from them either. I tried playing a CD and nothing from there either. I first noticed it when I was trying to play something from YOUTUBE and thought it might just be the site but then I tried off line as well. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. This is the first day that I have noticed it. Thanks for any help. I have checked all the settings I can think of but probably have missed something somewhere.

A:No sound from speakers but showing sound graph on speaker control

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback section, set your "Speakers" as the Default Playback device (if it's not now set). Then see if you have speaker and/or headphone sound.

A:No sound played trough speakers but sound works from headphones

If you are not able to listening any sound even error beep, then it seems hardware fault inside your system.
It may speaker goes faulty. You should consult your computer hardware vendor.

Yesterday I installed a new external hard drive - following the installation - my sound no longer played through my television (video is fine, HDMI connection) and sound now comes ONLY through the laptop speakers.

The option for HDMI Audio doesn't appear in the 'sound' menus. I have 'checked' "shoe disabled" and "show disconnected" in those menus.
Basic Specs:

DV7-4060us

Windows 7/64bit

IDT High Definition Audio Codec

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250
AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon 4250

I have tried the following fixes gleaned from other forum posts on similar forum posts:

Uninstalling and reinstalling IDT drivers - didn't work.

HP driver 'recovery manager' to install 'original' IDT audio codecs - didn't work.

Unistalled ATI Video Drivers , and reinstalled them - didn't work

System Restore to a week ago - didn't work.

I use my HD TV as my primary monitor for gaming, so having sound through laptop speakers and not TV is quite annoying.

Perhaps my only solution is another sound card?

A:no sound through tv via hdmi, sound plays through laptop speakers (idt

So you're trying to get audio to play on your TV from your laptop? Since you said the video is fine it's obviously not the video drivers. It sounds like the sound output is configured wrong. I don't think it would be labeled as HDMI. HDMI is just DVI with HD Audio. Try altering your sound settings to see what you can get.

Audio is a very difficult thing to diagnose and fix.

Why would speakers sound scratchy, but headphones and external cabled speakers sound OK? I have a Dell Studio 15 (1555) running windows 7 Professional.

236GB used, 214GB free space
Intel P8700 2.53 GHz Processor
64 bit OS
4GB memory

The built-in speakers used to sound good but now they are too scratchy to understand. However the headset sound is good. According to the Dell Support Assist utility, the sound card is "ATI high Definition Audio Device" and "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC."
Microphone test -- earphone playback is OK, on-board speaker terrible.

A:Why would on-board speakers sound scratchy but headphones sound OK?

You Dell Studio 1555 laptop uses IDT HD audio driver for the built in laptop speakers.
The ATI HD audio driver is only used if an HDMI connection to an HDMI monitor (with an HDMI audio/video cable) is used.

possibly a driver conflict with IDT audio, built-in speakers may be malfunctioning or dirty (gotta have them repaired if it's a hardware problem and not a software problem). just listing the possible causes for the scratchy sound.

So I've got a problem,I changed my case 2 days ago and everything went great, all working as it should be.Up until an hour ago, when the lid got stuck in one of the little clips so after a quick bang it went in.But then I lost my picture on both monitors.
So I went to investigate,I ended up moving the GPU over to the other 16x slot and it is now fine.
but since then I've lost all sound through either the front or rear jacks,It is saying that the speakers are not connected.I've done all the usual checks,as in default devises, drivers.Everything I can think of I have done.I have tried a new cable, and tested through both of my phones and the speakers work fine.I've also tried a few sets of headphones in both jacks. There is a faint hiss sound when I turn the speakers on,that has just started.
I have managed to get sound through my tv via HDMI,but every time,I go into audio manager and lets say change from soft to hard,I loose the sound again, and have to set the HDMI as default again.this too has just started.
I'm using the on board realtek audio sound card ,on an Asus p8z77-lx motherboard.
Just a quick note when I plug in the jack, there is no beep and the pop up screen does not appear as normal.
To me it is pointing towards a motherboard problem, with the 2 problems happening together.Any help would be great.

A:No sound through speakers.Jack not being detected.HDMI sound only?

Hiyya Paul mate sounds like (no pun intended) that thump dislodged something on the board just carefully move the I/O output block and see if there is any movement, could be something a simple as dry joint but which is going to be hard to find and fix.

If you have some warranty and I know it is a PITA having to reef it all out again but.....

Personally I have the P8Z77-V and I just stuck an Asus Xonar DG card in the thing and there is no comparison really and you get one heck of a control centre. Not expensive I don't know about where you are but out here $35 so both my Ivy and Sandy Bridges have them.

I installed a internal sound card months ago when my original ports on my PC stopped working. Just recently sound started coming from my monitors built in speakers and not my sound card.
I purchased a new sound card to no avail. I still get static and no sound and control panel says device is working properly.
What is going on it has to be something simple I am looking over.
Help please.

It makes it sound like the only way to get sound from all of your speakers is to enable cmss and click that top option. The only way I can get sound from all of my speakers is to enable the bottom option. What is the deal, and am I getting the best/worst sound in the way I am doing it?
