Yoga 710 light flashes won't boot.

Q: Yoga 710 light flashes won't boot.

Hi there, frustrating problem of Lenovo not being able to boot up. The light will flash, but no action. - If I can hold the power button for 15 seconds the fans will spin for a few seconds.- I've opened the back and removed the battery- checked all connections- I've tried running of AC adapter- tried removing ram Anyone got any suggestions? Removing the battery did work the first time (thought problem solved), but it happened again on next boot and it hasn't worked this time. I was advised to reset the bios but can't find the battery, seriously hidden little sucker... Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings,, I have a Dell Dimension E510. The other night, my son went to shut down the computer, and before it went down the correct way, he turned the power off. Now when he tries to turn the pc on, the power light will flash slowly, but the pc will never boot up. If it was a bad power supply, the power button would not even light up... right? Any ideas?

A:power light flashes, but pc won't boot

Get your Service Tag number (on the system and the paperwork) and type it in here to access all the stuff on your PC: http://support.dell.com/support/top...t_central?~ck=ln&c=us&cs=04&l=en&lnki=0&s=bsd
Look in the FAQ's or the manuals for how to reset the CMOS and that will probably fix it.
Your system has gotten stuck in a power save state.
The E510's need a BIOS upgrade (under downloads) to fixe several problems. Get it too

I have an Elitebook 2740p which refuses to  boot.  Depending on battery and charger state I see the following behavior: Not plugged in: It just stays dead.  No lights, nothing. Plugged in: The battery light (the middle one of the three LEDs) flashes, alternating amber (very short) and turquoise (a little longer). Plugged in, battery removed: The battery light flashes turquoise (perhaps once a second). In any case, there is no reaction when I press the power button. What does this mean?

Remove or disconnect the battery.  With the system unplugged, hold the power button for 30 sec.
Try powering up on AC only - if it will but won't with the battery installed, the battery is bad.
If it still won't power up, the mainboard is bad.

I just purchased a used comp off ebay (probably a bad mistake) that was suppose to boot to c:. This is a AMD 1800 XP, 128 MB RADEON video card, 60 gig hardrive, CDRW, 52X CD. When I try to boot the computer the monitor light immediately goes from green to orange. The monitor works fine on my other computers. I also noticed that the video card was loose when I first got it out of the box, i secured it but then found out the problem. I have also used a video card out of another one of my comps, nVidia 32MB, and still got the same results. I can usually figure stuff like this out, but this MB is extremely complicated, and the power supply has more wires and cables than I have ever seen. I thought maybe the hardrive wasnt spinning and tried another one and still had the same result. My video card and processor fans are all running so there seems to be power. The CD drives have power. I also noticed that there is a light on the front of my case, dont know what it is, but it also turns orange. Any suggestions.

After coming back, it now refuses to even POST. I tried every power cycle I could think of, in various combinations, and browsed several forums. In the end I found no functional solution. Current Status: System responds in no way other than the 'i' light (in the Thinkpad logo) blinking three times when the charger is connected, or the same when the reset button is pressed while the charger is still connected. Nothing else illicits any sort of beep, light, or otherwise. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks and regards.

I have a feeling you had opened up the back cover to fiddle around with the components (be it a change of SSD or the 3g/4g modem). the symptoms you described sounds exactly like a disconnect MB cable. you can try to open up the back cover, and around the left side, you will see a cable labelled "MB". secure it properly, and the computer should be responsive now.

Hey there, everyone.I've got this 2 year old ThinkPad Yoga 12 that was working fine one day, and then won't boot at all the next. No screen activity, no backlight on keyboard, nothing except for a solid light on the "i" and then nothing. I've tried taking out both batteries, I've tried all kinds of combos of power button pushing, and I tried the reset switch. That caused the light to blink three times and now it's not doing anything. I found a 1.7 ghz p4 motherboard on the cheap to upgrade my old p3 667, and i bought it in "working" condition, but i don't think so. Anyways, i got a pentium 4 support psu hooked up, and some pc-800/8 ram (it takes pc-800, would it work with pc-800/8?), and powered it on, and it just makes some strange beep code, followed by 1-1-1-1 beep code, but it dosen't post or show the bios, just a blank screen. So i reset the bios by taking out the battery for about 8 hours to ensure there was no charge left, and powered it back on, now it does not beep, but the power light just blinks, and still no screen.

Anyways, it is an HP-Vectra VL-800 motherboard

the cpu fan comes on if that is any help.

Do not want to come across as a complete idiot, but........
PC is idle, no software active.
That little blue light will at times stay solid or it flashes constantly.
Task manager shows nothing running.

Is there any way I can see what is going on?

Not paranoid, just real curious.

A:HD light flashes for what reason when idle?

Well it could be a lot of things...

AV software scans while idle.

Windows indexing checks/scans when idle.

If you have auto updates enabled they may DL updates while idle.

Backup software will do it's work when the computer is idle.

And any number of other things that, for the same reason, need to perform background tasks but don;t want to interrupt you when you are actively using the computer.

You may be able to find out what it is using the windows resource monitor on the "Disk" tab.

[Edit]
Also log files, disk maintenance, page file maintenance, Microsoft office programs (like onenote, even if not open), some mail programs will check for the existence of mail periodically even when not open etc... the list is really endless [/edit]

Hi, Guy at work gave me his vaio to fit a new keyboard, its a vgn bx51xp. Keys were missing and some not working.
Iv had it for months now as they keyboards are very expensive! but he decided to pay the 60 gbp for one.

Now the laptops been turned off for months, but it worked fine, so i just replaced the keyboard, and when its plugged in, the battery light flashes twice constantly. Will not power up, charged for couple of hours, and no charge is in the battery. There is charge coming out of the charge pins and adapter etc have been tested and are all outputting correct voltage. I opened up the laptop to have a look at the power board and couldn't see anything but i was out of options.

When i put it back together i couldn't get a light, Which turned out to be the faulty dimm socket, Lights back on now after resetting (how annoying when 2 things go and you have no idea).

My question is, shouldn't the laptop turn on off a\c without battery? as i get no response, which is annoying, as i don't wanna buy a new battery if the laptops kaput! (Already put 60 of own money in the keyboard and can't charge him if it doesn't work!)

If anyones got any advice? or knows if this particular laptop doesn't run off a/c without the battery would greatly help!

Thanks in advance!

The only other solution you have is to open the case and try the hard drive connected directly to a computer. If the drive is bad, getting your data off it by adata recovery service is going to be expensive. If it is just the enclosure using another enclosure would work fine. If you do not intend to make use of the Seagate Warranty, then I would say try an new enclosure. or you could go with something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817707199 For future reference, data you do not have at least 2 back ups of is data you don't really care much about.

Help! I built an Athlon machine from used parts, an Abit KT7A mb, Athlon Tbird processor,3D Prophet 4000XT AGP Video. New CD/RW and HD. Installed XP Pro, updated to SP2. Ran great for 2-3 months.

Now it's dead. I donno if I had shut if off or left it running for a week or two, but hadn't touched it. I found it off. This is what it's like. I press the power button, the green power light flashes once. The light on the CD/rw flashes. Then everything is dead. If I unplug it and plug it in again I can repeat this.

I have disconnected all cards, CD, HD, floppy, and unplugged both Dimms. Same thing. Googling around, it seems like the brief flash of power is supposed to indicate a short. You're supposed to disconnect all peripherals to isolate. That hasn't helped.

Oh, on ps connector to mb when I unplug it and test with a multi-meter I get 5.0 volts across several of the wires or when grounding them to chassis (through multimeter voltage test). Is this correct?

What should I try next? remove mb, put on antistatic mat, hook up power supply, and jump start pins?

thanks in advance.

I have a Gateway, model ID49C. I bought it new about 3 years ago but replaced its battery less than a year ago.

This phenomenon has been happening for more than a year: When I plug in my computer to charge, sometimes the front power light (orange when charging) and the light for the power button start flashing in unison and the computer stops receiving charge. It immediately stops when I unplug the computer. This only seems to happen when the computer is open -- I can still fully charge it overnight. Lately it's started to happen so often that my computer can barely charge at all from the number of times I have to unplug it.

Does anyone know what's going on, or where I could look to find more info? Thanks for your help!

When I turn my PC on at the plug, the green power light on the front of my case flashes at me, and I can't turn my PC on until it's stopped. The light on the back of the PSU also flashes. Now if it only flashed for thirty seconds, I wouldn't care. What difference does an extra thirty seconds? It's not as if the intarweb is going to die in the space of time it takes for me to turn the PC on at the plug, and then actually turn it on. The fact is, it flashes for a full thirty minutes, which leaves me sat in my chair, twiddling my thumbs. I don't get much time after work between coming home and going to bed, and in those thirty minutes I can get a lot done, which is why its' really starting to annoy me. It started about a month ago, with thirty seconds of flashing, and has slowly built up to thirty minutes.

Now if it's something I can fix with the right-sized hammer, then fine, I'll do it over the weekend, but if it's a case of getting a new PSU, well, I'm building a new computer in four or five weeks, and really don't want to be spending money on a new power supply - I'm going to have to borrow money from my parents as it is.

I've tried plugging the power cable directly into the plug socket, rather than into a surge protector - no difference.

I've tried unplugging the PSU from the motherboard and everything connected to it, then reconnecting it all - no diff... Read more

A:Power light flashes, can't turn on PC until stops

Bump.

Found out I had a faulty RAM module yesterday, and took it out, thinking that it might have had something to do with the power light flashing, amongst other things... it hadn't.

Does anyone at least know the cause of the problem? It's getting very annoying.

Hey guys!

Recently, I've been noticing the hard drive "busy" light starts flashing a lot when it is not in use. The computer has been running slower since I noticed this. Websites "hang" for a second or two when trying to visit URLs as well.

Last night, I decided to get rid of AVG and installed Microsoft Security Essentials instead. Left it scanning overnight and it found a potential threat. I deleted the threat before taking note of the name of it. I did another scan after restarting and it nothing else was detected.

Afterwards, I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, which found nothing. I also defragmented my hard drive and cleaned out some clutter with CCleaner (both haven't been done in months).

I have been using the computer all day and it still has the same issues. Not too sure what else to do next. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Luis

I went to turn on my computer today and it turned on with only 9% battery, so naturally I plugged in my charger. the notebook would not charge at all. I unplugged the adapter and tried new outlets, testing other electronics on the outlets as well. Eventually, the computer died as it had low battery and now I cannot turn it on because the charger isn't working. I assumed there was an issue with the charger, went to Best Buy and they tried another charger which did not work. When I plug it in and press the power button, the light by the charge port blinks 3 times, but the computer does not power on. Can anyone offer some insight? Not sure what is going on or what to do next...

Hello All

Would anyone have any idea what is causing a flash of light (a very thin line~~kinda in a square shape) to go across my screen once at startup just as the desktop finishes loading? See it once at every startup, but only at startup, and only at the end of the desktop loading.

Been happening for a few weeks now. It appeared a few times while I still had ME, but appears at every startup since installing XP SP2, which is about 3 weeks ago. My Screen Resolution is set at 1024 by 768 pixels, and my Color Quality is set on high (24 bit). My screen resolution is set at 75 Hertz.

Here's what I have done so far~~I ran all the tests (on all the tabs) on the DIRECT X DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS, and passed them all~~no problems found.

Don't know where to go from here~~help would be greatly appreciated!!
