Q: Lenovo M91p Desktop not booting with new graphics ...

Hi all I have recently bought a Lenovo M91p thinkcenter Desktop as an upgrade to my old i3 PC. Old Spec is as follows:Coolermaster Thunder 600W power supplyIntel DH55HC motherboardi3 CPURadeon HIS HD 7950 Graphics card8GB RAM500GB HDDI have transferred my old 500GB HD and Power supply to the new Lenovo desktop and everything booted fine. Then I installed 2x 2GB extra into the Lenovo M91p (Making it 8GB), and upgraded the 500GB HDD to a 1TB. So my new spec is as follows:Coolermaster Thunder 600W power supplyLenovo Q67 motherboardi7 2600 3.4 Ghz CPU8GB RAM1TB and 500GB HDDEverything Booted fine. Then I tried to install my old Graphics card (The Radeon HIS HD 7950 Graphics card). All i got was a blank screen, no beeps, no BIOS... Nothing. At first, i thought my power supply wasn't enough... So i tested a 750W power supply in the pc. Still nothing. Then I thought the motherboards BIOS was outdated... Updated it... Still nothing. I even tried updating the firmware of the graphics card. Nothing. The graphics card definitely works because I tested it in my old machine and it worked 100%.However, I took my graphics card to my supplier, and he tested it on another one of his PCs... Didn't work there either. My PC's BIOS doesn't have support for secure boot, in case anyone wants to know.I have run out of ideas now... Any one able to help?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

There's a white list of graphics cards the BIOS will recognize. The HD 7950 is a 180w card, well in excess of what the factory power supply can provide for (and the case/fans sufficient cooling for), and is not one that Lenovo would provide BIOS support for.

Use the search engine above to see what cards other owners have successfully used in their M91p.

I just got a recent AMD Polaris card (RX 550) for Lenovo ThinkCentre M91p, and it simply doesn't boot with it. It doesn't even get to the starting splash screen with Lenovo logo. The monitor remains blank. I updated the BIOS to the last release I could find but it still didn't help. Can anything be done with it? It works with Nvidia cards, but I'm running Linux and want to use open drivers, so AMD is a much better option. I replaced the power supply by the way with better one.

Hello everyone! This is my first forum post so I'm looking to learn about the computer I just purchased today! I have bought the Lenovo M91p thinkcentre type 4524 and was curious about the White List for GPUs. I've read on this forum previously about this but I am a little confused about it. Exaclty which bios version supports 10 series and under GPUs and which AMD cards are supports? According to the drivers for this computer, it was last updated in 2014 so I was wondering how 10 series GPUs would be supported! Thanks in advance for the response and sorry to resurrect a dead topic!

A:M91p USFF 0266: what graphics card will work for gaming?

I have not seen this system or any USFF in person, but after viewing photos of it, I'm not clear on how it physically accommodates any standard size graphics card.  It certainly could not accommodate a dual width card.

Irrespective, to meet your games minimum requirements, you need a system that we accommodate a GTX 1050, which is only avail as dual width, and power that card's 75w.  The only ThinkCentre that can do that without the possible need to upgrade the power supply is a 'tower' system.

btw, all M91 systems have PCIe 2.0, which works fine with 3.0 cards.

Greetings all. I scoured the forums for an answer, but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. To be brief, I own an M91p SFF (Model 3227). I've already maxed out the RAM. I need to upgrade the PSU as much as possible because I'll be running Adobe Creative Suite CS6 (no need for or interest in), and want to install the GT 1030 card. I can't seem to find any definitive PSU information about this machine. So, I'm asking - what is the MAXIMUM watt make and model you've found to use? I've seen posts give some vague information, but not enough so that I can actually order one. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi there. Just received this kind of computer for the very first time. This is Lenovo ThinkCentre M91P made in late 2011. At the moment it has: i5-2500S 2.5 4 cores CPU12GB DDR3 RAM (I use 1600 Mhz instead of 1333 Mhz. Works fine)256 SSD SanDisk180W external power supplyNO VIDEO CARDComputer size: 270mm x 240mm x 80mm I have no idea what kind of video card fits. I browsed the internet and found out that it supposed to be a card called LOW PROFILE card. But these are so different from each other. I have a doubt if this old motherboard can still support any new video card at all. Below I leave a link to 1a.lt store, so maybe someone of you could point me some examples.https://www.1a.lt/kompiuteriu_komponentai_tinklo_produktai/komponentai/vaizdo_plokstes/max/price-100 And probably I will need some more powerful power supply. I would like to be able to play average games like GTA5. *** Also I'm wondering if this card could fit:https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N750OC-2GL#ov

Hi. I just purchased a Lenovo Thinkcentre M91p (machine type 0266) which has an external 150w power supply. I purchased it to be used as a HTPC and i want to put a gpu and more ram in it. The problem is the power supply, all the ones i see people talk about have an internal 240w power supply. On the back of the pc is a DC in jack thats directly into the motherboard itself.

I ran some calculations on power usage and the site i used said the recommended power supply size for the standard unit is 150w with a peak load of 123w. Adding the gpu alone pushes the peak load to 140w (nvidia gt730) with a recommended supply of 180w.

My question basically is how can i upgrade an external power supply when all i can find is standard 150w external replacements or internal ones that wont be of any use

A:M91p USFF: uprate external power supply for graphics upgrade (GPU)

Update: im guessing i could just use any power adapter for other pc's or laptops with 180w or more, it just needs to have the correct ending which is a 6.0x3.0mm connector. I could even possibly use an adapter to make the correct ending. i dont see why this wouldnt work as the power supply is all external

Hello,I can't seem to find specific information about this pc related to this topic. I have a client that wants to have a hdmi port and dual monitor installed. I looked everywhere in the bios settings, I tried using a usb-to-vga adapter & and vga, dvi-d cable & vga (this mirrors both monitors, but cannot extend the display). When I changed the settings on the bios to use the built in graphics, it gives me the option to enable multiple monitors but cannot use my pcie graphic card. If i select to use the pcie graphic card, i cannot use the built in graphic ports or the usb-to-vga adapter (it does not see the other monitor) and also if I use the dvi adpater and the vga it mirrors the display. I'm guessing that the bios does not support dual graphic cards but thought of asking here. The reason the client wants this is to be able to connect a projector using hdmi and to have dual monitors. Any information will be greatly appreaciate it. Thank you.

Can you try the following:
1. Boot into the BIOS via the UEFI Firmware Settings or by pressing the OneKey Recovery button (while the computer is turned off).
   - Link to picture

2. Once in the BIOS, set the following settings (if applicable) to boot from a Linux installation disc.

Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled

Boot Tab:
Boot Mode = Legacy
Boot Priority = Legacy First

Exit Tab
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS or Disabled

Note:
Please backup all important files and create a recovery drive before making changes to the HDD.

I'm no Ubuntu expert, but try booting from your CD into rescue mode, and seeing if you can run the program that configures Xwidows again, to see if you can select a new video card driver.

I don't have exact instructions for that distro, I am afraid.

I have recently built a system using a new power supply and case, and everything else old. Here is my pcpartpicker link.

GTX 760, 500W 50+ bronze power supply
The computer works perfectly running windows 10 without the graphics card plugged in, I can even put it on the motherboard (not plug in power cables) and it's fans will run, which makes me think it works. However, when I have the card plugged in my system will not turn on. The fans spin and light up for less than a second. I think my power supply is good enough. My question is is my PSU possibly not powerful enough or is the graphics card broke?

The short story is I have a malware problem that I am trouble shooting and also have some type of graphics driver issue. I don't know if the two are related. I went to the Uninstall List forum on this site and attempted to remove the ATI-Uninstall Software Utility. While doing that the computer froze. When I attempted to reboot it, I just get a black screen, it is in the "power save mode" and I get no graphics. I suspect that I damaged the graphics driver so I was wondering if there is a way to boot the computer up without the graphics driver. I guess I would then attempt to reinstall the driver. I was wondering if I could remover the ATI graphics card and boot it up. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Booting up a computer with no graphics driver

Without the ATI driver (assuming that you have an ATI chip/card), the system defaults to the same video driver used in safe mode.

So...I suspect this is more than a graphics driver issue.

FWIW: IMO, most persons who "troubleshoot/solve" their own malware problems...are not as successful at doing such as they presume.

If you have an actual graphics card...I suggest removing it, then reinstalling/reseating it...ensuring that there is no possible debris in the slot when reinstalling.

If you have an onboard chip...not much you can do.

System manufacturer and model?

So, I took out the old HDD and then connected it, and the other SSD via USB casing to another computer running a disk cloning software. Tried it did not work. Now, I put back the old HDD into the Thinkpad, it does not start up again at all. Even the first screen which says "Thinkpad" press Blue button for recovery" does not come up now. Hard drive is not it, since the screen does not switch on at ALL. If it was HDD failure, it would say something like HDD not detected. But in this case, it does not even show the initial Thinkpad screen. So, this may be a loose connection somewhere (even though I did not remove the casing at all while removing the HDD) Both times, I removed and reattached the HDD, with the power cable removed from the Thinkpad, but, the battery was still inside the chassis. Short circuit? Bad! Someone help.

A:Lenovo Z61T not booting

In case its not clear, when I press the power button, I do not arrive at the press Del to enter BIOS screen at all. No THINKPAD screen. Just black screen and no HDD activity

My Computer data:Lenovo G50- 45Win 8 already being installedMy problem:Hey dudes,I wanted to start my PC as always but instead of starting my GUI, windows just showed me the message that "Automatically reperation is being prepared". I used to wait but after hours the computer stayed the same. I decided to use the "onekey recovery" but instead of recovering, the computer just showed me the lenovo sign and used to load. The same procedure, I used to wait hours, but nothing changed. After that I prepared an USB device and set win 10 (64) on it and wanted to let him boot from my device. After having a lot of problems, I found a page on the internet telling me to change to "legacy" mode and to disable secure boot. Well, done that and enter with "Fn and F12" the boot menu. Selected my USB device and he is really showing me a Win 10 logo. But, and thats my problem he isnt doing anything else. He is just showing me a loading circle with a big blue Win 10 logo. I dont know what I should do next. Any Ideas around here? I've heard that a Hardware issue could be possible, isn't it? While booting, I pushed different Keys and heard one single, loud Beeping. Any ideas what I could do guys?Would be really glad to hear from you  - Greetings

Hello.  I do not know where to create a "New" post so I am replying to this somewhat related post.  I have a M710q ThinkCenter Tiny and I have been having this problem since November, 2018.  When I was on vacation in November, my wife called me to report that my M710q has been rebooting on its own on "Preparing automatic repair" so I told her to just power it down.  When I got home from vacation, I tried to boot from the emergency disc that I created for this system.  It won't boot to the emergency repair options, instead, it goes to the "Your PC encountered an error and we need to repair it..." then it goes through the "Preparing automatic repair...".  I bought an SSD drive, bought a Win10 Pro license from MS hoping to just install a new OS.  BUT it won't let me boot up to the installation DVD!  It goes to "Preparing automatic repair...".  What should I do?  Is it the bios that is causing this problem?  Something is directing it to boot from the some internal UEFI boot! Help on this is much appreciated.  I just want to boot to the repair option so I can probably repair the BCD in the original boot drive.  Also, I downloaded the diagnostics package into a bootable USB and that boots up with no problem.  I ran all the diag and everything passed - so there is no problem with the hardware! Thanks in advance.

For future reference, there's a blue 'Start a Topic' button on the left side for starting new threads.

Just to be clear, you have a Tiny, and wish to install from a Windows install DVD to a new SSD?  You have a DVD drive attached to your Tiny?  IIs it a factory permanently attached drive?  Have you changed the boot order in the BIOS so that DVD drive is ahead of other drive?  You may need to change the Boot Mode in the BIOS, see this other thread.
