Windows Exp Index low for mem

Q: Windows Exp Index low for mem

After upgrading, I ram WEI. Processor os 5.9, Graphics 5.9, gaming graphics 5.9, hard disk 5.8 (raid sys), memory 5.0
I am using 5-5-5-15 DDR2 mem, 2x1Gb sticks in slots 2 and4. Mobo is a BFG 680i SLI.
Previously when I ran th esame test on the old rig, I was getting 5.9 easily for mem. So, what the hell is going on? It seems a very low rating for what it is. I am not sure if it is a windows thing, or a hardware thing- it is possible a more recent BIOS would make a difference, but I have been unable to locate ANY BIOS updates- BFG pages lead to dead links, as do pretty much every other lead.
Any ideas anyone?

Preferred Solution: Windows Exp Index low for mem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all,
I turned on a client PC this morning and this error popped up on start up of the machine, It won't boot into windows, this is all that displays on the screen.

'inserting an index entry into index $0 of 4441'

I have no idea what it means and I need to get the computer up and running as soon as possible..

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Many Thanks

Hard drive error. Left long enough it might boot otherwise I would boot to a live CD and see if you can recover any data, then wipe the disk and test it before using again.

Hi all. I hope I'm not duplicating a post here. I did a search and came up empty. My question is this: Has microsoft done away with the index.dat file associated with internet explorer? I've read that it is no longer included. Can someone confirm or deny? I know that IE8 has an inprivate browsing feature which is a great privacy tool. But if your browsing activity is still recorded elsewhere, it sort of defeats the purpose.

If you dont have an SSD the 7.8 was wrong. Any normal HD scores in the 5-6 range. after all 7100 was a release candidate.

At the right hand side of my task-bar there is a small 'magnifing glass' icon that says 'Indexing Complete' most times. I would like to get rid of this but only if it's safe to do so. I've looked in 'Add & Remove Programmes' and I can see 'Windows Search 4.0'. Is this the programme I'm looking for ? It tells me that certain things were installed after the installation of this programme and that certain things may not work properly if I remove it. So can I remove this and if not, what does this programme do that's beneficial ?

A:Windows EXP Index...

I have no complans of it... some software/games require high demand of ram or video etc... it all comes down to how fast does your computer run,

your exp index I think is good. will run big games no problem (maybe I dont know your specs)

im guessing this is a desktop

Uhm fairly silly question here, but does the windows index exp actually mean anything i mean we have srtest but thats rubbish because it just goes of numbers and not brand... for example you can have a dual core 1.7 and it will rate a single core 3.2 better...

So of a game says you need lets say 4.0 windows index exp and i have 4.3 will i run the game good?

thanks stephen.

Should run fine . . 4.3 is higher than 4.0

I've made a couple of changes over the time I've had Vista installed on my computer, and just for fun, I was going to re-run the Windows Experience Index test. I went to the Performance Information and Tools section, and there is nothing there. All it says is

Not sure where to start? Learn how to improve your computers performance"

None of that is a link to anything else. I didn't really think to look until after this, but it now says my WEI is unrated. Its obviously nothing major that is killing my computer, but its still strange. Any advice on how to fix this? Possibly force Windows to run the test through the run command?

also please suggest which graphic driver to use. i am using old driver and i am not sure how to update it.

A:Windows experience index

The Windows Experience Index measures the capability of your computer's hardware and software configuration and expresses this measurement as a number called a base score. A higher base score generally means that your computer will perform better and faster than a computer with a lower base score, especially when performing more advanced and resource-intensive tasks.

Each hardware component receives an individual subscore. Your computer's base score is determined by the lowest subscore. For example, if the lowest subscore of an individual hardware component is 2.6, then the base score is 2.6. The base score is not an average of the combined subscores.

Regarding the drivers, you can find the latest drivers here

I have just recently helped a friend upgrade his computer to be Windows Vista capable.

One of the upgrades was a nVidia 9600GT graphics card.

Except now the problem is this, even with the newest nVidia drivers installed, the WEI will not score more than 1.0 for Graphics.

The odd thing is it shows the correct driver is installed, but the test is being run using "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter", as show below:

This happens even after a total clean re-install of Windows Vista Home Basic.

Any ideas how to fix this?

I've been wondering whether or not if I should re-enable the Index service in Windows. I usually always disable it since I do know it can kill some system resource and blast the processor to the point where you can't do anything for a couple minutes or so.

But then now since I have 500 gigs of data and I'm probably expecting to upgrade to 4 TB, is it worth it to have the indexing service running? I've had some issues where I'm trying to open up an archive file and it takes about a minute or two to even open up the archive file. During that time, there's a lot of hard drive activity occurring.

I do actually want to know if the index service only indexes files so when you actually do a search in Windows Explorer, it only finds those files you searched for. Or does it also index files on the hard drive so Windows can access them faster?

I think that a repair install (upgrade) would be your best bet. In lieu of that approach, just reinstall, again. This should not be a problem, since you have just reinstalled.

My best advice, however, after you are up and running, have programs installed and activate, make a system image and put it in a safe place. In that way you will never have to come here again, with a similar problem.

First thing there is no program that is worth its salt to make your computer run faster reliably. There are programs that aspire to do this but are not worth spending the money on.
