Hello I bought new battery for my laptop 4530s. In HP support assistant I ran HP battery check test and the results showed my battery was not discharging even when it is fully discharged to 0 percent and I was running my laptop with AC adapter. Plus it didn't show that it was charging either. The AC adapter is not charging the battery and the laptop works fine when only connected with AC adapter. I tried hard resetting and under the device manager Microsoft ACPI reinstall method but it didn't work and still I am unable to charge the battery. I read on some forums and also tried to update my BIOS, but surprisingly during the BIOS update through USB and only AC adapter plugged in, on the BIOS update page it was written to connect external power eventhough only source that was connected was AC adapter. The problem is with my AC adapter or BIOS or charging circuitory please guide? An early response in this regard will be highly treasured.

I've kind of hit a wall with this one and I'm not sure how to proceed. My Aspire R7 suddenly stopped taking a charge. It will say it's charging for a few seconds when I first plug it in, but will quickly stop. It also shows that it's charging when it's off, but the battery does not seem to actually charge, though I haven't left it for very long because I don't want to somehow inadvertently cause electrical damage. It won't run on just cord power.  I've since replaced the charger and the power jack (with an OEM part) but that hasn't fixed things.  Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?  Thanks in advance!

"It won't run on just cord power." - if that is what is happening then you have a hardware failure, either the computer, the cord, or the adapter (if seperate).

I have an Inspiron 5758 and I couldn't find my charger for it. So I bought a universal charger that would fit. It made changes to my computer and now I have the original charger, but it always says plugged in and not charging. If you can help fix this problem that would be GREAT! Thanks.

A:Charging Issue

Is the issue that the original adapter isn't recognized (enter setup -- F2 at powerup) -- if the adapter shows unknown, the battery will not charge.
If that is happening, try a new Dell adapter (third party adapters will run the system but not charge the battery).  If that doesn't solve the issue, replace the DC jack:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
... and if that doesn't get the adapter recognized, the issue is with the charge circuit on the mainboard.

Hello,             My laptop is behaving weird since two weeks. when I plugin the charger, the charging is not continuous. for nearly an hour, the charge drops every ten seconds after and again it charges, this keeps repeating till 90 percent, and the charging is unstable. it saturates at 90 percent, and when i hover the  mouse on the battery icon, it shows plugged in but not charging. whole night even if its charged, then also battery never reached full percent. When I start using the laptop on battery power, within one and half hours the battery drops to 30 to 40 percent and the laptop shutsdown without any low battery warning, I dont think so laptop is charging in the way it used to be and my laptop had good battery backup of three hours to max. Hardly, now it is short for one hour or so. I tried changing the socket, kept charging the laptop everywhere in the house, had changed the charger adapter and still the problem remains. I even formatted the pc and still the thing is not fixed as i thought it was some OS related issue. I checked the battery test on hp support software, it showed the battery is ok and there is no issue with that. my laptop is just 9 months old and it was working good till last two weeks. this problem is really keeping me worried, i tried some trouble shooting stepping by reading in hp site about calibration and etc. nothing has helped me and im really looking forward, if someone can assist and fix my problem. t... Have a Dell Inspiron laptop. Have had this system for about 4-5 years. Problem developed as follows:

About 3-4 weeks ago battery indicator read "9% available (plugged in, not charging)".

I did a search for this problem and found someone's solution was to go into Device Manager/Batteries and delete two files....MS AC Adapter and MS ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery... Then shut down, remove battery and restart. Shut down again, install battery and power up. Those files were rebuilt and the battery indicator read "charging". This worked once. Couple days later the computor malfunctioned again the same way. The above solution did not work the second time.

Bought a new battery, powered up without the AC adapter. Then ran the new battery down to about 6% (as per manufacturers instructions). Shut down, plugged the AC adapter in and powered up. Battery indicator read "12% available (plugged in, not charging)".

Shut down, removed the battery and have been running on just the AC Adapter for about two weeks now. Computer runs OK on just the adapter but seems a bit slow at times.

Today I shut down, installed the new battery and powered up (with the AC Adapter plugged in). Now the battery indicator reads "89% available (plugged in, not charging)". I unplugged the Adapter and the computer dimmed down quite a bit but stayed on.

My thinking is the Adapter is OK since the computer does run. The battery is new and the computer does ru... Read more

Hi SOHAILTAHIR
Thanks for writing to us.
When did the issue start?
Do you mean there is no light on the charger whatsoever?? If possible can you please try another battery or a charger.
The issue could be the adapter alone as well.
If the system is powering on with the battery now, then please load bios by tapping on f2 during boot and check for the adapter status (ensure charger is plugged in) and also the battery health.

Hi there.

This morning i was checking some things before i left home for the day, my cat jumped on my laptop, after he got off i straightened it back up on my lap and heard a click as the laptop screen turned black, the power lights over the button and the red power light were still on.
i held the pwer button down and rebooted, the screen lit up and showed a 'rtc battery low error' i pressed enter and went in to what it was telling me too i immediately pressed exit cause i had no idea what i was doing, the computer rebooted and went to windows normally i signed in and conneted to wifi then i noticed it wasnt charging, i put the charger in and it flickered then went dull, i realized it wasnt charging, so i restarted again, it was a little slow but when i went in to windows it took forever to recognise my Wifi and it would not charge no matter how i moved the cord. I decided to leave it until i got home (am not there yet) before i worried but when i sat it on the floor on its side it was charging, i laid it down and it wasnt then i tried it back in the previous position it wouldnt charge.

I know this is kind of an essay of a post but if anybody could give my any ideas or tips on what could be wrong, it would be much appreciated, thanksss

Hi, guys, this is one of the emails which was sent to HP. Please go through that. My question is "Are they providing the best support?"  /////////// ToThe unfaithful HP support.
Hi,
I'm one of your customers who suffered a lot of damage just because I bought one useless HP laptop 15-ac170tu, .  Ever since I purchased this laptop I had nothing but issues, you can case history on this laptop. I have faced some weird issues which no one has ever faced. It came with DOS and I have installed Windows 7 on it. At first, wireless on this laptop would not work properly. Let's say my internet speed package speed is 40.00 Mbps my laptop only gives me 21 to 23.00 Mbps(issue with the wifi range as well). All other laptops (my friends) would give 36.00 to 41.00 Mbps. I have installed the drivers using HP support assistant and I have tried other wireless drivers which were suggested by hp support employee on your hp support community. This all happened on the second day of purchase(I ordered it on November 10th and received it on November 22nd, 2015 ). One engineer(i would rather call him a technician) was deployed to my home and he was able to figure out the issue and he confirmed that there was internal component connection issue and he corrected the connection and I was getting average speed and good wifi range.  The problem has not resolved yet as I've started facing this issue again after three m... In the past week, I have had problems with charging.  When I put charge cord into the small hole on the side of the computer the computer will say no charge but plugged in but the little green light to indicate it is charging will not come on.
Now the small light on the cord I plug in is green so it looks like it is working.

When I charge the light on the computer goes on for maybe 3-5 seconds then goes out.  I have to keep plugging the charger cord into the computer over and over again until the green light on the computer stays on and it starts to charge.  Is it the cord?  Or is it the small hole I plug it into that will not accept it.  I assume it is loose or something.  I hate having to unplug and plug it again and again- I fear I will break someting?

As you can tell I am a novice.  I bought the thing in 8-2016.  Please help. thanks in advance

Hi there,
I've been having a strange issue with the battery/charging of my Acer Aspire 5742 laptop.
A couple of weeks ago, the laptop suddenly stopped charging. At this point I replaced the charger, and still it wasn't working, I then replaced the battery too. I found that both the charging cable and the battery had stopped functioning.(I.e. Would not work unless both new items were in use).

It then worked fine for the past 2 weeks, until yesterday. It wouldn't charge, but when I tried it this morning it charged once but now it won't work again.... I'm very confused.
If you need me to turn my laptop on to check things it currently has about 2 hours battery before it drains.

Any ideas?

Hi, and sorry if this has already been answered. I couldn't find any questions that were quite what I'm experiencing so here goes!

Over the weekend my laptop (HP Paviliondv6000, Vista, a little over a year old) stopped holding a charge. It works just fine so long as it's plugged in, but shuts down within a second the power being disconnected. Power thing at the bottom claims it has 22% of battery left, and that has progressively (slowly) gone up but still insta-shuts down if AC is disconnected.

The blue light that normally indicates charging is flashing, which I assume means precisely what the battery indicator tells me: plugged in, not charging.

I've tried taking out the battery, waiting a few seconds, and putting it back in, both with the ac plugged in and not plugged in. I saw a recommend to attempt this while the computer itself was turned on, but I did not trust the site I saw that on.

...help?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have a Yoga 500 that is having a problem charging the battery.   When it's plugged into the charger, it cycles between charging and not charging about every second.  I've tried two different chargers and it does the exact same thing.  It's like a loose connection type of symptom. Any ideas on what to try? Thanks for the look!  Dave
