Q: A perfect battery usage for lenovo y700 [tips and ...

Hey every one , as in the title , i want to know what is the correct or perfect way to use a li-on battery like on lenovo y700, some articles says that we should connect the ac once we are under 20-15%, but others says that when we first have this kind of batteries , we should ac until we reach the discharge threshold defined by windows wich is 7% on most laptops and sometimes 5%.I m very confused , so should i connect my ac now (at the moment i have 20% left or should i keep using it until i reach the threshold ,well i think i ll go study and return to see your answers )

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there, I've did some reading on maintanance battery life but still some questions are unasweared.Any help will be greatly appreciated. Since battery in y700 is unremovable I have following issues: 1. Ho long should the battery be plugged into the charger?2. Should the charger be unplugged when reaching 95%?3. When playing  a game should the charger be plugged in?4. When to start charging the battery - at what %?5. Can I do small actions on laptop when charging? - music etc6. Is it good to fully clean the battery to 0% once each month?7. Will setting battery usage to "Power Saver" in Windows 10 do any help?  Many thanks for help. I just bought new laptop and would like to retain battery life as long as possible. Thanks!

Got the Lenovo Yoga 920 Monday. It's sweet. So much better than the 910, I can type again. All the issues of the 910 gone for good! Question.  It came with the Active pen. But no battery or extra tips.  Did I miss something out of the box?  I can't believe at this price point, they wouldn't ship the battery with the pen.  It needs a AAAA battery, not something you have sitting around the house. thanks. I'm quite shocked and am betting it was an error but trying to find out if they were supposed to be included or not?  Can't find any documentation. It's almost like the pen is just something they say is included, little details.

The Lenovo Modern.ImController is part of Lenovo Settings, or more specifically its required "Lenovo System Interface Driver".   The CPU usage may go away by itself it given some time, but if not, go to  Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> uninstall the Lenovo System Interface Driver and reboot,    After Rebooting the problem will go away.     Once uninstalled, you can go to Microsoft store and download Lenovo Settings again, during which you will be prompted to reinstall the Lenovo System Interface, and see if that fixes the problem. Lenovo Settings is not a required program, but does provide some functionality, which is detailed more below.    Lenovo Settingshttp://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories/software/apps/lenovo-apps/settings/ Good Luck,

Hi,So for about 2-3 weeks I've got some battery problem with my Lenovo Y700-17. It seems like it came from nowhere. I think it started after the BIOS update to cdcn53ww. Before this time, my battery last for about 6-7 hours on Power Saving Mode, but now it's poorly 2 hours. What's more, there's no difference between High Performance- and Power Saving Mode's battery lifetime. Even if laptop works on battery, the fans are very loud ( similar to plugged-in High Performance fans sound). Before, laptop was silent unplugged (no matter High Performance/Balanced/Power Saving Mode). I tried everything, service sent back laptop with opinion "Everything looks fine". Hope you will help me, I need long-life battery for work.

Hey guys;I purchased a Lenovo Y700 almost 1.5 years ago (Lenovo ideapad Y70015ISK and Product Number: 80NV). I have never played a game on this, mostly net browsing, working with office products, watching youtube vids, and this sort of light tasks. The battery has been lasting for almost 4 hours until recently. By the way, I did not keep the the laptop connected to the outlet for all the time. When it was fully charged, I would unplug it. At least, i did it for 80% of the time.A few days ago, I noticed that the battery is not holding charge as before. I realized that now it only last for around (less than) 2 hours. It is really surprising for me, as It di not start to decline slowly and gradually. It suddenly went from 4 hours to 2 hours. What is happening with my battery? The Lenovo Vantage shows the battery is in "Good" condition. Is it dying? Is less than 2 years a normal life time of such batteries? Thanks

If I pull out the adapter it turn off immediately, not wasting even a second. The battery is showing 100% charged. Can I do something about it, maybe to check some connection or firmware or I don't know... or do only think I can do is to change the battery?

Hello, So I am looking for a genuine battery replacement for my Lenovo Y700-15ISK. I got the model of the battery which is currently installed (L14S4P22) and searched it up and to get a fair list of batteries but they didn't specify the model of laptop I have got. Most, if not all, had model numbers 15-ACZ, 15-IFI and Y700-ISE but not 15-ISK. So would it be safe to buy a battery replacement even when they are directed to be battery replacements for those Y700 models? Or do I need to find the specific model that fits with my laptops model number? Also, I've seen most of them displayed as 14.8V batteries, but I've seen my battery's voltage go over 14.8V? Or am I relating two different things? ( https://gyazo.com/8fc1e98d9f962a47003d3051202fd0e2 ). Thanks,Duke J Morgan.

I have just got my Y700 for about two week. Last week it has been sent to service center because of abnormal speaker "dat" sound. It had been solved by technician by updating the BIOS. But now there are another problems occur. 1) Disk Usage constantly been used up to 100% although fewer program running. I have tried many method like blocking antivirus, set up virtual memory and stop the superfetch service but it still remains unchanged. 2) Lag window interface. When I need to open some software I have to wait for laptop hanging for 3-5 seconds every time. 3) Abnormally long window update time. The update runs at least half an hour for installing. If there are any solutions to these problems, I will be thankful and appreciate to your help. Thank you!!!!!!!

Hi all ! I am new here so please be patient I just bought the new laptop (Lenovo y700) at the beginning of 2016s June and unfortunately have some problems with it. I run it about 3 times and see that the battery drown horribly fast - for web searching is around 1,5 - 2h (no cloud apps and heavy using). I know this laptop have really good battery, which should give us around 6-7h searching on web and 2h on really heavy using (you know - GAMING LAPTOP). Additionally sometimes my charger not charge after plug in. Sometimes is goes to 98% and that's over. Sometimes battery will charge to 100 %, then I turn off the laptop and plug off the charge - after turn on system shows 90% of battery (**bleep**?). The second thing is a screen - a little bit of bleeding just lead from the bottom of it. I don't think so that's normal. The last BONUS one. How I said the laptop is new and as a new I bought it. On this site lenovo said about guarantee to 27.02.2018 for me and not to 2.06.2018 how it should be. What's wrong? With this laptop Lenovo offers 2 years guarantee and I have the same on the bill from the shop - that's authorised Lenovo's shop. I really need your help and want to know if I can give this laptop to the service and guarantee is including my problem. Thanks in advance for your help. Greetings,DamienM

Hi, I have 2 of these laptops and one has a battery problem. In Win10 it shows that it can only charge to 93%. I can leave it for few hours and it will still only say 93%. If I take power brick from the other (that can charge to 100%) charging stops at 94%. The light indicator is white when on 93% but the % in windows indicator is bothering (not to me, but to the user). I think that there is a problem in Win10 indicator (since light indicator lights white), but even formating (and converting from Legacy to EFI) didn't solved the problem. Is there a problem with battery? EDIT: At what % does LED turns from orange to white? I checked indicator for white LED when laptop was turned off and charging. So I can't confirm if it charged to 100% and if it charges to 100% when turned on.

I bought my Lenovo Y700 laptop last December and I started having battery issues around 6 months back. The battery randomly goes to zero even when the charge is at 30-40% and the charger is not connected. The battery of this laptop doesnt last more than 90 minutes even when full charged on moderate use(browsing/reading word docs). First raised this issue with Lenovo around July and did many troubleshooting steps but to no avail. Finally I ended up shipping my laptop to Lenovo depot for a week to get this fixed but even when the laptop was returned from the facility it had the SAME ISSUE!Called the customer care yesterday to ask for a Refund but they denied and asked me to send the laptop back to the facility for another repair. Horrible customer service. How is a customer supposed to keep sending their device back to their centers every other week? Asked the customer service people to escalate this to Customer Relationship team and they denied saying there system wont let them escalate the issue. They offered a warranty extension but then backed out of it saying we can only offer that when you send the device back to us. I cannot send the machine back without having a spare machine as it obstructs my work. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I have a stock Y700, recently the little circle loading icon next to the mouse pointer keeps flashing every 2-3 seconds for about 1 second. When I look at the processes its showing CPU running near 100"Service Host: SCOM Service Process Launcher (6)" is running around 50% most of the time. I contacted Lenovo support to see if they could give me some direction or assistance. Upon describing the problem they just told me to restore my computer. I didnt even get to tell them anything regarding the CPU etc. I essentially stated the same as my title on this post and she told me to do a system restore. It wouldnt be the end of the world for me to have to backup and then restore. I just feel like there was zero effort to fix whatever the problem was, just restore it and start over.  Am I crazy? Is this just a well know solution to a common problem that no search results turned up for on here? Or was the tech just lazy? Can anyone help me out? This is my first post here, so if there is needed information I've left out let me know and I'll provide it asap.  I've noticed there is an odd behavior when hovering over the battery, wifi, and volume buttons. Short video of the issue *Edit, I accidentally made a thread before this one and dont know how to delete it. Hi Ebon_Knight,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

Using the computer with the AC conected is just fine.

I would say it is OK to use the your laptop while plugged in,
Because once you plugged in an AC adapter, Your computer switches to AC power mode where it gets power from AC charger while charging the battery.

Now about overcharging , If you have the Lenovo energy Management Software configured to "Optimized battery health" then you should not have to worry. it will prevent charging your battery to a 100% and prevents from over charging,

If the computer did not came with the software, Lenovo Energy Management  can be downloaded from support.lenovo.com just choose your computer model and OS version.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

As owners of the T470-T480 models know, the battery discharge method is a major drawback for people who use their laptops outside of the office. Instead of discharging the easily replaceable external battery first, the system frequently discharges the internal -- and very difficult to replace, at considerably more expense -- battery first. The setup is also problematic because people who want to do hot swaps of the external battery may discover that they don't have sufficient charge in the internal one to do this successfully. In several threads in this forum, people (including me) have asked again and again for a user setting in the BIOS that will let us force discharging of the external battery first. As far as I can tell, Lenovo has ignored these requests.  At the very least, please answer the question. If the answer is no, kindly explain the logic behind refusing to make a customer-friendly change. I have bought a new Lenovo laptop every year for a long time now. Whether Lenovo listens to its customers on what should be an extremely simply fix will help determine whether I move to another vendor.

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

Hi guys, I just bought new battery for my dell Inspiron, how do you save or extend battery life, I read that Li-on battery should be at least once in two or three weeks, and it's recommended not to discharge fully, is that true and do you do anything to extend battery life.

A:Laptop Battery Tips

According to the link below it's bad to discharge a Li-ion battery completely and/or leave it in the laptop when running of the mains. When not in use store at ~40% charged in a cool dry place. Heat is the biggest enemy.
