DISM unable to repair, unable to uninstall KB3022345

Q: DISM unable to repair, unable to uninstall KB3022345

Let's start with I'm a complete noob, but I'm smart and I know how to Google stuff...

I've tried SO many threads and techniques to fix this, but I'm unable to, this has been a VERY deep rabbit hole I've traversed and can't find my way back out.

Let's start at the beginning...

I stopped auto installing updates because I had issues with doing so in the past, so my windows updates stacked up for a bit. (I know, I suck!)

I started installing them all last month and found 4 that would not install, a couple of them seem to be serious and my friend recommend I get them fixed.

I've run sfc /scannow it NOW shows no validation errors. But there were errors the first time.Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
I've run dism and it tells me the store is repairableC:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanhealthDeployment Image Servicing and Management toolVersion: 6.3.9600.17031Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031[==========================100.0%==========================]The component store is repairable. The operation completed successfully.

I've run DISM and it tells me it can't find the source, C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /RestorehealthDeployment Image Servicing and Management toolVersion: 6.3.9600.17031Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031[==========================100.0%==========================]The restore operation failed. I've run the /source option with my local 8.1 installation disk and it tells me the same thingC:\WINDOWS\system32>dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:WIM:G:\sources\install.wim:1 /LimitAccessDeployment Image Servicing and Management toolVersion: 6.3.9600.17031Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031[==========================100.0%==========================]Error: 0x800f081fThe source files could not be found.

After researching this, I found all these issues around KB3022345, so I attempted to uninstall it... it came back with another error saying it couldn't complete the process. After this failure my entire machine runs REALLY slowly, I've since put the diag tracker on manual, I've not rebooted yet since then, but I believe that slowness should be better. I also did a clean startup and tried all the above steps and got the same results again.

I've tried this as well to uninstall with cmd...

I REALLY cannot reinstall everything on this computer, so please don't suggest that, I really need to just

1. fix this dism store error... BTW, after attempting to uninstall KB3022345 I'm now getting a LITTLE different failures with DISM then before, but the result is the same.
2. remove this KB and get that damn tracker completely shut down
3. install the missing updates

I'm going to reboot again and if everything remains really slow, I'm going to roll back to yesterday before I tried to remove that KB. But I cannot roll back far enough to get back to April 22nd when it was installed.

Sorry for the LONG posting, I've tried SO much more but that's the highlights, hope you all can help.

These are the 4 updates that I cannot install...
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3000850)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2976978)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3038936)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3013816)

I'm running 8.1 on an AMD A10 6800k

Thanks so much for your time!

Once in awhile I check my system files using SFC,
I just checked it but found problems and wasn't able to fix them.
So I ran the DISM command but then again couldn't fix it.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealth
The DISM command gave me this message:

"Error: 0x800f081f
The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

So I downloaded an ISO with the same version and build as my current OS (windows 10 pro x64 - build 10586) to use the option "Source" by mounting the ISO.
But same error as mentioned above showed up.

So my last idea was to do a in-place upgrade , and I did by following this tutorial of yours, it all went smoothly but after the in-place upgrade finished it seems nothing had change since the SFC found problems.

Im out of ideas here.

Attached, CBS and DISM logs.

I am supporting a Windows XP SP2 PC and have the error "the installation source for this product is not available. Please verify that the source exists and that you can access it".
I am the local admin and the domain admin. This error pops up when I try to reinstall Office (Office updates fail) or update QuickBooks or Adobe or any other program on there.

What do I need to do to repair the Windows Installer associations for the sources, without using the Installer Cleanup Utility to uninstall everything and reinstall everything?

Is there anything that can be done short of that?

Thanks for any help!

Since starting to run Windows 8.1 a couple of weeks ago I have been unable to open iTunes, Getting the messages. 'The program can't start because MediaToolbox.dll is missing form your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem' & 'iTunes was not installed properly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)'.

When I try to uninstall iTunes I get this message 'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes6464.msi in the box below'

I have no idea what to do to resolve either problem. I'm not very technical so very simple language would be greatly appreciated.

Today, running sfc /scannow reported corrupted files it could not repair. I followed instructions here: DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image but I am unable to get DISM to find the Install.wim file even though I can see it quite clearly in Explorer.

I used the following command: DSIM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:T:\sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

The path to the ISO on the DVD drive is definitely correct, but I keep getting an 'Error 0x800f081f The source files could not be found'.

Has anyone got any suggestions how I can fix this?

Kind wishes ~ Patrick

After waiting a while it comes up with a message saying 'startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. Sending more information can help Microsoft create solutions.' Suggestions :

1. Restore to factory state using your recovery partitiion.

2. If you have the Vista Installation disk. Use it to do a Repair Install

3. Contact Toshiba and ask for a set of recovery disks. The cost is minimal and you should have them.

*I am running windows 8.1 Pro, this issue came up last night when I was suddenly unable to save or view image files (.png, .jpg, etc). Troubleshooting led to discovering corrupt system files, now I am here:

Running sfc /scannow in the command prompt (admin level) yielded some interesting results. It found corrupt files, but was unable to fix some of them. I've uploaded the CBS.log file here -->
( https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-H...ew?usp=sharing )
(it was too large for pastebin)

I then tried running "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth", which gave me error 1392
"The directory in the temporary folder c:\Users\<name>\Appdata\Local\Temp\ could not be created.
Ensure that the path to the temporary folder exists and that you have read/write permissions on the folder"
DISM log is here --> ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-H...ew?usp=sharing )
If I try to access the Temp folder myself, it says it is not accessible. The direcory is corrupted and unreadable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone (first time poster, long time lurker),

I am having some problems with my laptop (pelase let me know if I need to post more specs):

HP EliteBook 8460pProcessor = Intel Core i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz
Installed Ram = 4 GB
System Type = 64-bit OS
BIOS Version = HP 68SCF Ver. F.08, 8/26/2011
I ran sfc /scannow, and it says "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log".

After doing some googling, I read to run: dism/online/cleanup-image/restorehealth . Now this gives me "error: 87" and referred me to the dism.log (which I have attached along with the sfc /scannow log). That has left me with no clue as to what to do. I am a fairly knowledgeable about computers, but nowhere near this degree (however, I can follow well made tutorials ). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In the course of trying to fix another problem I ran the DISM checkhealth command and it said that windows image needed repaired, so I ran the restore health command and I got an error. How can I fix this error?

I am attaching a screen shot of the error and Dism logs and CBS logs of both the scanhealth command and the restorehealth command.

It appears there is something missing related to windows defender in the windows image.

Hello everyone,

I've been having a terrible time trying to diagnose and fix corrupted system files. I have recently updated to windows 10 during the free upgrade process. I was running Windows 7 Pro before I updated.

I have tried sfc /scannow command multiple times, in safe mode and in normal operation.

Every time I get this message:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios."

So researching online, I found that using the DISM tool will fix this issue.

However every time I run the command, I get this:

"Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log"

I've even tried mounting the windows 10 iso that I downloaded from the media creation tool and running it again, however I still get the same message to no avail. I've seen other forums with users saying to use the original windows 10 iso and not to use the iso created by the media creation tool. However I can't seem to find this file and am not sure it would work anyways.

Hello. I am having a continuous issue with my computer. I apologize in advance for being an amateur at computer repair so please bear with me if I need to better understand some terminology.

My computer is continuously crashing. It reboots itself or turns itself off. I don't always see the BSOD when it shows up but I imagine it flickers every time it crashes. One time, I saw it, and it said "BAD POOL CALLER."

Every time it crashes I do the recommended startup repair just to get it to work again. It always tells me that Startup Repair cannot fix this computer and then it reboots and everything works again for awhile. I thought everything was fine and dandy a couple weeks ago and now it is starting all over again. Please help! Thank you

As you are at Sevenforums I suppose you're talking about Win 7.
Please give us more info about your hardware (Laptop) as brand, model, amount of memory etc.
Is your windows disk from the laptop manufacture?
Do you have a backup of all your data files?
If you're trying to do a clean install, don't you have a BIOS factory recovery option (beware, it formats your HDD)?

I'm using Win 8.1, an internet service provider technician installed an app that I can't remove, I don't know what the app does, but it's listed in the installed programs under control panel, and also there's a folder under Program Files (x86) in C, whenever I tried to run the apps, it just said "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application". I tried to remove the apps from the control panel, it does nothing. Is there a way to remove it manually and make sure everything is removed?

Thanks for you comment/suggestion

I installed SP2 on XP Pro a few months back. It has been giving me fits with 2 of the main programs that I use, and I'm ready to go back to the way it was before. However, I go to add/remove programs and click Service Pack 2 and uninstall and it tells me that "Uninstall could not find the SPUNINST.INF file." I can't uninstall any of the ways Microsoft suggests. I haven't tried system recovery, but there is a lot of stuff that I don't want to lose if it goes back to how it was months ago. I tried reinstalling SP 2, but it said it was installed and that I didn't need it. Can anyone give me some help?

A:SP 2 Unable to Uninstall

You could do a repair installation. This will revert it back to before SP2.

I was trying to uninstall Revo uninstaller and got a pop up which I do not know how to fix. Someone please let me know how to fix this pop up and uninstall Revo. What are the usual causes of this type of issue?

I did try to uninstall Revo in safe mode but the pop up shown appeared.

One other question is how to uninstall portable or software that installs with .exe for example geek.exe I don't want to uninstall Geek Uninstaller. I would like to know how to uninstall this type of software.

Thanks for your time and help.

A:Unable to Uninstall

As the dialogue box details, the installation file is corrupt. Try reinstalling Revo and then uninstalling, since this should correct any corruption in that particular file.

Because........" 'Uninstall.xml' could not be read"

is there anything i can do to actually uninstall.

by the way just deleting files doesn't work because vista seems to have a mind of its own and rarely deletes things when I rightclick, delete.

I am having problems uninstalling the Nokia Phone Suite 5.8 and 6.1 along with the Nokia Connectivity Cable DKU-2 Drivers from my system.

I have been to Add/Remove, and also to the uninstall file in the Suite Program, without success.

If I try to re-install the drivers I get an error message:

Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add and Remove from the Control Panel.

C:\DOCUMEN~1\GADGET~1\LOCALS~\Temp\_is38\Nokia Connectivitity Cable DKU-2 Drivers.msi

I have deleted all but three files in my Local Setting\Temp folder.

These three files I am unable to delete as an error message states that these may be used by another person or program.

Can anyone suggest another program that will uninstall these programs and drivers?

Hi, I posted in the gaming support forum but was told my problem is likely malware.

Long story short, I foolishly downloaded Brood War from the first link I came across. I am repentant and it won't happen again

It turned out to be a RAZOR1911 cracked version and now when I try to uninstall it, I get this message:

Unable to open uninstall log file

Help would be appreciated!! I tried to run dds and it said "DDS is not meant to be run in compatibility mode".

I also tried to run a System Restore and disabled AVG to do so, but had an error message that said something like "System Restore is unable to access certain files."

Sorry for the trouble.

I installed the software for a Netgear WN311B wireless pci adaptor onto my computer running XP home SP2.
On trying to run "set up" to load updated drivers - the prompts go through an uninstall old software and then tell me to remove the pci card - which I have done.
On runnibg set up again - the routine is exactly the same and I cannot get to the set up sequence to install new drivers. Have tried uninstall from xp, uninstall from the netgear wizard, tried in safe mode, tried with all antivirus software disabled, tried system restore, - nothing seems to be able to stop the set up programme from detecting some old programme it wants me to remove. Any ideas of what to try next???:

"GetLastError()=2: The system cannot find the file specified" is the message I get when trying to uninstall a program (corel painter). I can't even access the program. When I do I get a "R6002 floating point cannot be loaded error." I don't even know how prevalent this issue is because I have only tried to uninstall corel.

Earlier today I found out I had a win32/parite virus and it took a while to get that cleaned out. Now basically everything is back to normal except for corel painter.

I tried to reinstall corel painter OVER the existing corel painter program, but a error came up as follows: "The app. failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) click OK to terminate the program"

Need help badly. Thanks.

Greetings all,

"Connecting a 'belkin G usb network adapter' via a 5m repeater cable (bad reception) to my laptop. sometimes it works and other times the computer does not reconize its connected. while trying to solve the problem I noticed under 'show hidden devices' in the device manager that the adapter is listed 12 times (#1 to #12) and when i try to uninstall the little buggers i get the message 'failed to uninstall the device. the device may be required to reboot the computer".

"Obviously the computer dont need the network adapter to reboot so I tried to uninstall in safe mode and with my anti virus off".

"I still haven't got a working network adapter or uninstalled the list of 12 exactly the same devices. and now after removing the driver through the 'add and remove programs' my computer will not re-install the driver from the cd-rom".

A:Unable to uninstall device....Help!

USB connections some times get screwed up. Why don't you try this proceedure. I can't say it will help you. but it has helped me many times.

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

A:unable to uninstall old programs

welcome to tech support guy,
with ANY software, you need to check and verify that it will function on / with the os you are attempting to install it on - and the easiest way to do this is to go to that software's site and check
some older software , [that is no longer being updated - company went out of business - someone else bought it - whatever] - will have no newer versions, BUT, it can usually be ran in 'virtual mode'
and some software will have a newer version that can be downloaded, installed and ran direct

you might try this to see if will help:

I have a HP computer running Windows XP and trying to uninstall software. When i go to the control pannel -- add or remove programs, the change/remove button is missing for almost all items. Any suggestion on what I might do?

so in other words your system restore isnt working? u might want to look in the file for the program u are trying to uninstall and see if it has an uninstaller. or look in your start menu where your programs are listed and see if one is there. as a last resort u can reinstall windows and start again. i had to do that as my add/remove programs were all messed up. theres also something called last known configuration. ive never used it but someone may be able to explain how to use it.
