I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I sync my android to gmail, the phone contacts are duplicated, and some of them have even triplicated after syncing. How do I stop this from happening? It's happened five times now and it's still occuring when I perform a factory reset. I have even deleted the contacts from my gmail account and still the problem occurs after re-entering the phone contacts into the android phone. I'm stuck for possible answers to this ongoing problem.

Has anyone else come across this problem, and how were you able to remedy this?

I'd love to hear from you!!

I have a Gmail account which ages ago I set up to forward into my windows 7 mail account.
It has always worked well.
However I also want to access it on my android phone.
BUT still also on my computer.
Added the account to the phone and it will send mail fine. But nothing is being received.
Not sure if I have to alter settings somewhere? But will that affect me receiving mail in windows mail?

On my Windows version of gmail, when I compose an email there's a place to click to add attachments. But on my Android version there isn't, or at least I can't find it. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Thanks.

A:Solved: How can I add an attachment to gmail in Android version?

Generally how I do it is go to the Gallery (picture) or where ever and click on share > Gmail.

But in the gmail app itself, you should have an options button which will give you a list and attach should be there.

Hi All,

First post - thanks in advance for reading!

So I am having trouble getting my email to "sync" properly between three devices (using quotes because I don't actually want to sync, I believe):
1) Gmail web interface (used on remote computers - library, friends' homes, etc);
2) Outlook mail client (home desktop computer);
3) Android email app (phone).
I would like Outlook on my home desktop computer to be the final destination - this is where I do most of my work and I prefer the functionality of Outlook. I have been trying to set this up so that I can access and delete mail from either the web or phone, but whatever remains in my inbox will wind up in Outlook next time I open it - and once downloaded by outlook will no longer appear on Gmail / Phone.

Currently its all awry. Mostly the Gmail /Outlook arrangement works, except that every message I send to others in Gmail also winds up in my Outlook inbox. Annoying but bearable. The phone is the real problem, though, messages that go to the phone stay on the phone and cannot be retrieved by either Gmail or Outlook, without manual forwarding.
Currently, I have Gmail set up to use POP and to delete messages from Gmail once they have been downloaded with POP. I have my phone set up to use POP, with sync off (though manually syncing seems to make no difference), and to never delete messages from the server.

Also, I would rather not use the gmail android app because I can either sync mail and con... Read more

A:Gmail (web) + Desktop Client + Android device. Help!

Not helpful, but know you're not alone. I have a similar setup to yours (except I use Thunderbird as my home email client).

That being said, I've never been able to "streamline" mine either. I believe this is largely dependent on the push or pull times (whether the client or server is responsible I don't know).

But even with just my Android phone and the web app, the result of deleting an email on my phone does not immediately delete an email on the web app. I often have to wait a while, or even separately delete the email again on the web app for it to take effect.

Hi
I've recently moved into the 21st Century and am receiving email on my android phone.
I have two business accounts...both are IMAP.
I am having a bit of a crisis of a hoarding nature so on my laptop so I have set up local personal folders into which this correspondence goes (via rules). So far so good. I'm also planning on using these as archives as archiving doesn't save space.
On my phone when I send/receive I get loads of email and I can't free up space so I can see the next lot, so essentially once the first lot have arrived, unless I delete them all, I can't get any more until I send/receive on my laptop.
(Does this make sense?)

Is there anything I can do to receive more on my phone. I guess I can delete the rubbish, but if I'm away for long periods, my phone's going to be full...
Secondly, how can I archive into personal folders? I can find my personal folders .pst but can't specify into which one the correspondence goes.
Hope someone can help me!
PS We are talking Win7 and Outlook2010. Android is set up just using android's software (Samsung).

I have several shares defined on my Windows 7 x64 desktop which are accessible from all other Windows 7 machines on my network. Until recently those shares were all accessible from my Android devices using ES File Explorer (Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Galaxy S4). I connect to the server from ES File Explorer using my usual Windows id/password (which is an Admin account, and has full access to the shares). All of the shares are listed correctly in ES File Explorer, but I get the error above when I tap on any of them to view the sub-folders.

Hi All,

I have a Dell laptop running Windows 8.1 connected to the internet through a mobile broadband connection. I am trying to share this connection with my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Pocket) by creating a Wi-Fi hotspot but nothing I do seems to work.

Here?s the problem: I can create the Wi-Fi hotspot and connect to it on my phone but there is no internet connectivity; i.e. my phone says it?s connected but every time I try to browse the internet or use anything on my phone that requires internet connection it fails to load. Internet works fine (perfectly up to speed) on my laptop.

The problem is not my phone; it connects fine to other Wi-Fi networks e.g. Wi-Fi routers etc. It is as if my computer is only sharing a very slow internet connection.

I have tried using the built in sharing option (i.e. PC settings>Network>Connections>MTN-SA>Share this connection), desktop programs such as Connectify or MyPublicWifi (which stop my computer from connecting to mobile broadband at all), and command prompt (netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NetworkName key=MyPassword) but they all have the same problem that I described earlier.

If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful to hear them!
Thanks,

William Dry.

2.using wireless adapter:by using softwares to make it function like a router.but i don't know how much reliable this method is.plus even the posters recommend to go for a router.

3.Reverse tethering my phone: but for it all the sites say the phone must be rooted. And i'm not able to root my phone in any way.so this choice is out.Reply to this choice if there's any way to reverse tether without rooting.

most of all i want to spend the least and be sure it'll work.

I am having some problems with the Gmail application and Notifier as of late. Basically the Gmail Desktop Notifier I have is unable to connect to my Gmail account.

A quick run down of what I know.

* No matter what web browser you tell Gmail to use as the default, it always goes through IE to access your Gmail account.

* The notifier doesn't actually use POP3 or IMAP to the best of my knowledge, meaning if something is messed up with IE/Gmail the application won't work correctly.

* I can access my Gmail account from any non-IE browser (but can't use the notifier).

*I can technically access my Gmail account from IE, but I have to clear my cache/cookies to do this and every time I reboot the problem returns and I can no longer access Gmail from IE.

* I have both Gmail and IE set up to use SSL2 encryption, makes no difference enabled or not.

* I have tried uninstalling the notifier, removing all traces of it from my system, clearing IE's cache/cookies, and reinstalling with no luck.

* I have reset IE7 to defaults and this made no difference.

* I have tried without a firewall/AV active

* Using a fully updated XP Pro SP3

* This is a new problem that has plagued only my last few reformats, even though I am using the same disk as I have for a while and have never had this problem previously.

* I am using an nLite disk, but it has worked fine for at least 10 reformats before I started having problems.

I've got a weird one that I can't seem to solve.

I have a Windows 10 Home desktop with a permanently attached external USB HD.

The internal drives are share from with everyone privileges at a folder level and a drive level (for testing). Homegroup is turned off completely.

From a Windows 10 machine I can access all shares without issue. Read and write files.

From any non Windows machine I can access the internal drive (c including the public folder, but not the external drive. The shares are seen, but trying to connect produces an unknown error.

I've tried replacing permissions on the external drive at the root level and replacing them on all child objects with no change. As far as I can tell the everyone read and write permission essentially removes security, so I don't think it's a username and password issue.

I have no meaningful error messages from android or linux, but have not checked windows.

Anyone have any ideas?

I am in the process of setting up a home business and wish to set up a separate business email account with low set up costs. I currently have a personal Hotmail and Gmail accounts but wish to create a secondary Gmail account for my business. I do not have a registered domain name. I tried numerous ways to set up a secondary gmail account without success it would initially accept the new gmail address but when it would ask to activate the account, it would not allow me to login to the account to do this. It would come up with a message advising that the account address is unknown. So I would again go through the process and it would then advise that the username is already taken, so I just keep on going around in circles. I then went into Google Apps for business in which it would ask me to register my domain name for a fee of $13 per year. However, the domain name would be registered under the two option provided Enom and Go Daddy. Neither in which I am familiar with. Can you please offer some assistance. My first preference would be setting up a secondary gmail account and if not is google apps for business a reliable avenue in registering my business name in order to obtain a professional separate business email account and if so which provider is the better option. Keeping in mind I wish to keep the costs at a minimum at this stage.

There are a number of Android apps (Google Play-sourced only), mainly photo and video-related, which I like a lot, although I don't really like using a tablet. I've researched a bit into Android emulators which run on Windows 7 e.g. here

6 best Android emulators for PC | Android Authority

and while the idea sounds great, I wonder -- Android is said to have loads of security flaws. I work pretty hard to keep my Win 7 PC clean (I hope!). Is there a risk that by running Android apps, I'm running security risks?

A:Does running an Android emulator bring Android-type security risks?

First of all, it's simply not true that Android has "lots of security flaws". Of course it's not immune to viruses and attackers, but it's not inherently that its an immense risk in it. There are vulnerabilities, but most problems actually came from using untrusted software that abuses the devise. As always, the number one vulnerability in any system is the user.

Now to business. There is no exact answer to that question. It will greatly depend on what emulator do you use and how it's exactly implemented, how does it manages to run Android software and how much does it emulated and how exactly. Frequently, I would expect a different implementation of the Android low level API, meaning that bugs in Android will never afect an emulator (which in turn can have its own bugs), unless some behavior is there "by design", in which case the emulator should attempt to copy it.
Besides, I would expect the emulator to isolate the host computer from malicious Android software (which is not generally aware of Windows existence). Unless an Android virus specifically targets a particular flaw of a particular version of a particular emulator (which as already happened with virtual machines), I won't worry too much about it.

The comes the problem of what programs do you install on the emulated Android. When you install a virus there, it will attempt to do the same malicious actions than it would do on a real phone. Some actions will work the same, for example those i... Read more

Read more

I have three e-mail addresses set up on my Android phone. One of these has a notification sound set, so that I will know when I get a mail into that particular address. I've noticed that when I get a mail into that address, the sound is not played. When I go to Settings/Accounts and select Email, I can only see 2 of the three accounts (the one I'm not getting notifications for, is missing) SEE ATTACHMENT

However, when I then click on Settings, I can see all three.

Any ideas if this is part of my problem?

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has updated Dr.Web for Android and Dr.Web for Android Light to versions 9.01.5 and 9.00.0, respectively. The update improves the unlock algorithm for devices infected with locker ransomware and resolves known issues.

The unlock algorithm has been changed: the user should start charging the device, and then after five seconds, unplug the power cord and shake the device vigorously.

In addition, known defects have been corrected.

The updated anti-viruses are available on Google Play (Dr.Web for Android. Comprehensive protection, Dr.Web for Android. Life License and Dr.Web Anti-virus Light) as well as from Doctor Web's site.

The update will be downloaded and installed automatically. If automatic updates are disabled on the device, go to Google Play; choose Dr.Web Anti-virus, Dr.Web Anti-Virus Life license or Dr.Web for Android Light on the application list; and click "Update".

To perform an update via Doctor Web's site, download the updated distribution. If the option ?New application version? is enabled, a new version notification will be displayed when the virus databases are being updated. You can start the download directly from this dialogue box.

It's official: Android N will be called Android Nougat

After teasing the announcement earlier, Google has formally announced the name of Android N, which will be Nougat.

Google first released the Android N Developer Preview back in March, but the company didn't formally announce it until its Google I/O developer conference in May. The firm then asked for users to submit feedback on what the name should be.

Android Nougat is expected to ship within the next couple months, but it's worth noting that the current version of Android, Marshmallow, is only on 10.1% of Android devices. Nougat certainly has its work cut out for it if it wants to gain significant traction.

The company didn't reveal the version number for the next iteration of its mobile OS, but it has been leaked that it will be Android 7.0 Nougat.

Google officially concludes Beta Program for Android Nougat; Android O Beta coming soon

Back in March 2016, Google released the "Android N" Developer Preview for a few supported devices. The aim of the program was to allow the company more time to incorporate developer feedback, and to submit the final version of the release to hardware manufacturers for early testing.

Google has now announced that the Android Nougat Beta Program is complete, and that a Beta for the next version of the operating system will be released soon.

Before the official release of Android 7.0 Nougat to the general public, five Developer Previews were seeded out to those willing to test early builds of the operating system on their devices. After the general rollout of the aforementioned iteration of Android, Google also released two versions of Android 7.1 to users in the Developer Preview.

However, now with "Android O" on the horizon, Google has concluded the Beta Program for Android Nougat, saying that:

Thank you for your interest in the Android Beta Program! The beta for Android Nougat has concluded, and all devices that were opted in have been updated to the current public version. If you are still running a beta version of Nougat you may download the latest full OTA image for your device and sideload it. This will not wipe your device. We'll update this site when the Android O Beta Program begins.

In the meantime, you're welcome to talk to other interested us... Read more
