Preferred Solution: haveing problems playing a game with out it either randomlly crashing the game...

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: haveing problems playing a game with out it either randomlly crashing the game...

first of all is this limited to this game alone?do other games run fine?check for any overheating signs, install the latest drivers for your video card and your mobo, direct x and any other update.see if you meet the minimum requirements for the game.(this was just the official response you would get from a techie..so bear with me)

if this is happening in this game only and not in any other and your pc isnt overheating and meeting the minimum requirements, then there is a good chance its an issue with your optical drive, try a combo drive if you've got any around.its an incompatibility issue with some of the games.good luck

I'm trying to create a server for Wolfenstein: enemy territory. Click here to download the full version game! <-- its legal dont worry.

I have the 2.60 patch for Wolfenstein enemy territory and I've been trying to create a server. For some reason when ever I create a "host game" IT NEVER SHOWS UP IN THE LIST ON ANOTHER COMPUTER. I dont understand why? Does it take time for it to hit the master server? Because the console says some thing about sending a heart beat to "etmaster.idsoftware.com" Also I've tryed it on both dedicated and non-dedicated. We have it where the fire wall in letting it through so every thing is ok there and we can actually go on and get the list of the other servers, so we know the program can communicate to the internet.

So do you got any ideas on why my server isn't showing up on the list?

Computer specs:
windows xp (pro) SP2
dsl connection line

So can any one help me out here?

A:Haveing problems createing a game server

Have you forwarded the ports in your router to allow the game traffic to get through? I'm not sure which ports Enemy Territory needs opened i would suggest googling it. Then open them in your router and restart the server.

Brand and Model of Computer?

Brand and Model of Monitor?

Brand and Model of Gaming keyboard, and Gaming Mouse?

Did you install the Radeon 5670 Graphics card, or did it come preinstsalled on the Computer?

What software came with your Computer? If more than one disk, provide titles of each disk.

How are you connected to the Internet? Brand and Model of Modem, Router?

List all the games you have installed on the HDD.

What else is connected to the computer? Printer, etc. Make a list and post it here.

Looking over your past history of reported issues on this site. I see you have an ongoing problem with BSODs. There is a driver issue, or software compatability issue.

You will need to reinstall the OS to factory state. But, before you do this. Answer (ALL) the above questions and we will go from there.

I have a computer that crashes when playing Battlefield 2, but it seems to only crash when playing online. Sometimes it will crash when loading the servers. And, not just the program, the whole computer reboots. =\

It has an nVidia card in it, running Windows XP Home. It has 768mb ram.

Updated DirectX
Tried different memory sticks
Reinstalled the game

Recently, the power supply went on the machine. BF2 crashed previously, but at a much lower frequency. Now, it's difficult to get more than 5 minutes of gameplay in before it crashes.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The systems I have worked on that crash under gameplay have usually come down to heat, power supply transients and VCC sag, or driver issues. Interesting though that it seems to be limited to online gameplay.

I usually start by clamping an oscilloscope or VOM on the 5 volt rail and watching for instability. If that looks good I look at the 12 volt rail and the CPU VCC. I also remove the cpu heatsink/cooler and check to make sure it has not warped. If it looks flat, I reapply thermal paste and reassemble it. If the problem still shows up, you might try running with the case open, just to see if it is a residual heat problem in the case.

I would search around and see if anyone else is having issues with whatever version video drivers you have installed. Sometimes the latest are not the greatest...

Looks like you have already tried swapping out the memory. You might try under-clocking the board temporarily to see if that prompts a stable platform. That can indicate that something is deteriorating.

Good luck sorting it all out!

Hello there,

Although I don't have a gaming pc it has always run games for at least 2 years. The past month or so whenever I get into a game my computer will randomly freeze with a massive static sound forcing me to hard reset it. I now get tons of errors in my event viewer. I have pretty much done everything but I cannot find a solution to this. I have reinstalled windows 10 twice, fixed error codes 1 by 1 but however keep popping up. Really do not know how to fix this and whether this is a hardware or software issue.
The specs are:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 69 Stepping 1
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 4019 Mb
Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, 1024 Mb
Hard Drives: C: 444 GB (371 GB Free);
Motherboard: Acer, EA50_HB
Antivirus: Windows Defender, Enabled and Updated
Have the new NVidia drivers and PC has turbo boost up to 3.1ghz

Thank you.

hopefully u guys can help me with my issue. I have windows 7 home premium. I play Americas army 2.8.5 and my computer has been freezing up and requiring me to do a hard reboot by holding down the power button. it will do it repeatedly and Ive tried everything from updating all my drivers, bios and every driver i have on my rig and also running every kind of test imaginable to my knowledge. i can also be just browsing on the internet and all of a sudden the screen will freeze up and I get the blue little circle continuously doing its thing then i click again and the screen turns white for about 30 seconds and then it will kick back on and let me continue on. When I load up my game americas army the game will just freeze up sometimes i can play for 10 minutes and other times i can play for over an hour before it completely freezes up.

Ive talked back and forth with developers and the version of Americas army im playing is compatible with windows 7. Like i said before, ive been to numerous forums back and forth and tried everything with nothing changing for the past 2 months. Im ready to just go back to xp and really think windows 7 was a waste of money...

thanks in advance for the help

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Can you give us some more information:

- What operating system are you using? (Win 7, Win 8 etc) and is it 32 or 64 bit?
- What is the exact make, model and wattage of the power supply?
- Are all your drivers and windows itself fully patched and up to date? (certified drivers not new beta drivers)

Download and install HWMonitor (its free) or Asus PC Probe (its in the Utilities subsection on this page). Run the program (whichever one) and screenshot it then post the screenshot in a reply ehre.

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few ... Read more

I'm rather dumb when it comes to these sorts of things and I've looking stuff up but with no luck, either the thing I found didn't work or it just left me feeling confused having no clue what any of what was said means. I really want to fix this error as my girlfriend recently got steam and wants to play with me, but for no reason, my computer randomly started crashing after approximately 2-3 minutes of gameplay (note, if i sit in a menu it won't crash, it's only when I'm actually playing the game.) I am confused as it isn't malware as I originally thought (as i did get a virus but it was successfully removed along with everything it damaged being fixed... I think, I also reverted to factory default with no luck) When it crashes the screen cuts to black, all audio stops but the computer stays on, although entirely unresponsive. I don't what else to say besides that it started randomly and the first time it happened it wasn't just a black screen but a black screen with thin vertical red stripes all across it. Every time after that was just a black screen. I don't know what broke but it clearly did it there and not even a factory default will fix it. I am really hoping I don't need to buy anything as I have no money. :c Please help asap. Thanks ahead of time for even looking at this post.

Hi, I am new on this forum and I hope someone can help me out.

Every time I play a game at start it runs great.. then after 15-20 minutes everything gets slower and slower, I mean really slow. Movement and sounds are going slower and slower when time progresses. I have updated my sound drivers, updated my DirectX. It's like something eats up my ram or my soundcard is causing it. And when everything gets slow I quit the game and windows is then also very very slow. And sometimes my soundcard crashes, giving a loud beep sound. It's driving me NUTS.

I was playing Dota 2 on my laptop when I saw several small pixelated artifacts moving on the screen. I decided to alt-tab to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me, and the screen went black and I couldn't do anything. The screen was slowly flashing for awhile until there was a popup saying "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered."

It continued to flash until I got a BSOD saying DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (igdkmd64.sys). I rebooted the computer only to have it do the same thing on the start screen with the artifacts still there until I got a BSOD again.

I'm now typing this in safe mode since I can't start up normally because of the constant crashing. Can anyone help me?

A:BSOD playing a game, display driver constantly crashing

Hi jadz45122 & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-
Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
Arg1: ffffe000c3c42010, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff8005b490d90, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g. owner tag).
Arg3: 0000000000000000, Optional error code (NTSTATUS) of the last failed operation.
Arg4: 000000000000000d, Optional internal context dependent data.

So, according to the dump file, the 3rd argument is 0 which means the operation completed successfully yet the system crashed. Sounds strange right?
According to your description, if you are getting artifacts, that would be most likely a hardware problem.
Could you please perform the Furmark and check the temperatures?

FurMark Video Stress Test - free from here: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net

Click "Go" to start the test (Looks like it's "BURN-IN test" now)
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).... Read more

I have an ongoing issue where I log onto the glyph launcher, log onto my server, play for a while, sometimes hours with no issue but then BOOM, the game just closes on me and I'm booted back to the launcher. I have to push the PLAY button again, log into the server again, but it seems once the game boots me out then the crashing becomes more frequent.

I at first reported it to Trion support (useless) all they do is copy and paste previous responses from previous games sometimes not even removing the other game titles from it, but all in all I have spent over a month with them and I have:

1. Expanded my paging file to initial size of 1X RAM size max size 2X RAM size (to handle the memory of the game)
2. Switched from DirectX11 down to DirectX9 and back again. (in game)
3. Lowered my FPS (frames per second) to 100 (in game)
4. Switched off Multithread rendering and VSync (in game)
5. They have also had me change the priority of the game archeage.exe to high to see if that helps and it doesn't
( I would start the launcher, log onto the game and the server, go into the character screen, then cntrl + alt + delete into task manager and right click the process and set the priority to high then go back into the game)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

About 3-4 months ago, my uncle placed a GeForce 9500GT video card. It worked nice for games like Dekaron,Rappelz,Oblivion but just about a week ago it crashed on COD2. I thought it was normal but it happened on Left 4 dead too. I started to get worried and thought it was normal but then it kept on crashing on Portal(1st stage, at around 20-30 seconds on the timer) and almost any game i borrow from my friends. It crashed on Warcraft 3, Overlord, Drift City(only in Undercity Mission). Im kinda worried now maybe you guys can help me.

It crashes and sometimes the sound loops but sometimes it doesnt. Im not sure if it's only the monitor because some of my games cant be shut by using ALT F4 and i cant check if it shuts down well. When i unplug, plug and turn it on, there are no warnings or things that say it recovered from an error. It just starts normally. It seems something is going wrong with my GPU or one of the drivers. I feel like it's most likely hardware failure, due to extreme treatment of my laptop. What happens is the whole screen kind of just gets chopped up into squares (sometimes the patterns vary. Sometimes, it's not even a ****ing pattern, just a ****ed up screen) with different colors. It then crashes and attempts to restart but you can't even read the BSOD because the screen is so messed up. Then it will reboot itself but the screen is screwed and if you attempt to run 'windows normally', it will crash and reboot in an endless cycle. I have to start in safe mode, in which there are a bunch of nasty lines that start from left to right on the screen. I can still use the laptop but over time the screens disappear and the screen finally goes back to normal. After this, I can reboot into normal mode. Help!! I can also send pics showing what happens, I just have to play a game and have it crash for me again haha Thanks!

I have a crashing problem. I recently purchased Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. So far I've gotten about 10 minutes of gameplay after like 50 attempts of tryin' to play the game. For some reason I can't figure out why the game will just crash a blue screen flashes for like a split second and the computer automatically restarts. No warning at all... just kaput it crashes. Very annoying. I've had a recent problem as well... I had my computer fixed by a friend, but he's no longer in town. It worked for about 2 hours... then my bro did something in msconfig and totally screwed something up. So... i couldn't recover from that so I attempted to format and reinstall myself. Somehow I succesfully did this. ... But... same ol' problem... still crashing. I've tried downloading the lastest drivers for the sound card, (Creative Audigy Gamer) and video card drivers ( GeForce 3 Ti 500)... everythings running on a 1.2 AMD 60GB HD... and Win XP... everything worked well before the reinstall... except for the game problem of Need for Speed... I didn't have it before my friend helped me out with it... If anyone has ANY suggestions I'm willing to try any of them!!! Thank ya

Recently my pc has started acting up, so i decided to wipe it clean.
After reinstalling Windows 7 pro 64, i updated all my drivers and reinstalled my games. However, after a minute or two in game, in either game, it will crash to my desktop. Niether program prompts a crash report. Both crash in identical ways. I use AVG Free, and Windows Firewall, i have added exceptions for both.

My graphics card is HD4770, and im running catalyst 11.2
The games im playing are not that intense, Rappelz a MMO and League of Legends an RTS.

I have made no changes to any of my hardware, and i have run several driver detection programs to ensure i didnt miss anything.

Win7 says i have DX11 installed, and my card only supports 10.1 (however, i was able to play like this before, so i assume its backwards compatable). What i have tryed, is to download directx from microsoft but only to get an error on install. "Check to make sure cryptographic services are running" and i did, and they are.

any ideas?

I have many computers 3 to be exact. My laptop is in working order but it seems to have a problem playing a certain game. I've recently loaded Street Legal Racing: Redline. Setup ran fine no problems. I installed all the updates and nothing has worked.

The game starts like normal, the main menu comes up and everything. Its when I try to actually play the game it becomes a problem. When I start a new career, the garage flashes on the screen then a blue screen appears saying "Begining Dump of Physical Memory". Then I have to restart my computer.

Anyone have any solutions?

Hello there, I am very new to the PC so please forgive me if this all sounds pretty dumb.....

I have had a machine built for me (Specs below), that should enable my son to play games, and also allow me to browse the net, email, wordprocess etc.

It has a dual boot set up for Windows XP and Windows 2000 - The Windows 2000 installation is mine and everything works fine (Email, Browsing, Video etc) No problems at all, anywhere.

However, the XP installation for games, which my son uses, has some pretty odd problems. There is NOTHING that I can find wrong with it under normal operation, however, when he plays a game (Examples: Simpsons Hit & Run, Call of Duty, NFS Underground etc) it will crash to the desktop for no apparent reason, and completly at random. It might last 10 minutes or 2 hours but it WILL crash to the desktop at some point.

I have read through this forum and seen some of the things suggested, but they all turn up nothing for me. There is plenty of power, the machine is not hot, and the memory has been tried one stick at a time and the problem is the same.

I have all the latest drivers for my hardware, and the latest DirectX.

Hi, i've been having a problem with most of my games for some time, almost every game has audio problems, some doesnt even let me open the game some times, others dont let me play unless i shut off the volume completely then start the game and turn on the volume to play, if i dont do this the game crashes to the desktop or it freezes, when playing a shooter any gunfire coming from a fast firing gun (like a minigun) wont make a single noise its pretty annoying, plus some games start to show weird textures and some video problems then freeze when i play while itunes is in use and im getting an Autolt Error message everytime i turn on my PC. Ive been looking for an answer for this problem for quite some time and i still dont know what is causing all this problems, please help me i dont know what to do. Thanks in advance.

All of the sudden, this thing is happening on my computer;

When I play a FPS-game (any), all of the sudden, the internal sound starts to "beep" and then my keys stop to work properly! (ie. when I press Ctrl for crouch, the guy is stuck like that!)

Then when I exit the game, when I press the right mouse button, the menu is all wrong, and pressing a window on my start menu that is open, it closes it!

What is the matter with my system?
I have: P4 2.54, 1gb DDR ram, Radeon 9800 XT 256, Audigy Live, Logitech Mx700 mouse, Fujitsu Siemens Internet Keyboard (not USB).

Please help, since I now cant play my FPS-games any more!

Note: I have tested with 3 different keyboards (old and new) and they all behave the same!

A:Keyboard problems playing FPS-game

Check in your BIOS for any options having to do with the keyboard, this is a common problem with many keyboards, there's not really much you can do about it.

Hello tenforums,

I've been using these settings for a couple of years and never had any trouble with it.
However, recently whenever I was playing a certain game (seems I doesn't matter which), my screen shows a pink color on my primary monitor and a (baby)blue color on my secondary monitor. It will not shutdown automatically and the computer will make beeb sounds whenever I trigger any input (mouse and keyboard). It will freeze in about a minute or so (hearing the sound freeze).

Now i've checked "Event Viewer" multiple time, but most of the times it doesn't give any errors before the shutdown.
However, I did manage to catch one BugCheck in my recent crash:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000d1 (0xffffd00114b89320, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff8005626cefd). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.

I've colled the information with "dm log collector" and added the .zip file as an attachment to this post.

Hope somebody can help me out,

With kind regards,

Whenever I play SimCity 4 on my laptop, the game has really slow performance. Like when I'm scrolling around in the game, its not smooth at all. When I play the game on my desktop the game runs really smooth. The settings are the same for both computers - same processor, same amount of RAM, same amount of Video Memory dedicated to RAM. Please help. A friend of mine told me this had something to do with the refresh rate or something like that so I figured I would post in hardware. Thank.

A:Monitor Problems when playing Game

Might wanna take a look and see what you're starting in the same time with windows. Possible that you're running out of RAM.
The refresh rate does apply to FPS , but in a game like Sims the 60Hz which a LCD operates will do.
Also check the programs running in the background.
I'm curious? What kind of peripherals do you have in the laptop? It's unusual to have the same exact setting in a laptop and a desktop.

My computer's been acting up recently, one day I got home, PC was turned on, but monitor wasn't, so I turned it on, moved mouse so the display would respond as usual, but it never did, the monitor said "No signal", no matter how I interacted with the PC, and apparently the lights in my keyboard (Caps Lock and Num Lock) didn't light up, as if it wasn't connected to anything; I had to hard-reset, and the PC booted up as normal.

This has happened at least twice, one time when I turned on the monitor, the desktop was all screwed up, and it didn't respond at all, totally frozen, like if someone had opened several programs at once and moved them around frenetically, causing the PC to freeze.

This has worried me, so I have already defragmented my HDD, as I suspected it might be dying, and did a chkdsk, which apparently came out with nothing out of the ordinary, but I'm not sure how to check, and it didn't seem to help, my PC is worse than ever, stuttering at opening a folder or program, and being generally not reliable and slow.

Today, following someone's advice, I attempted to reinstall my graphic drivers, but in doing so, first, the Nvidia installer "failed" installing the Graphics drivers, turning the monitor in 1280x800 resolution, and prompting the Windows Driver Installation. I cancelled it, restarted and tried installing the nvidia drivers again, which apparently succeeded, but restarting, after windows shut down, my monitor went "No signal", ... Read more

If possible, I would remove the hard drive from your computer and put it into another computer. Boot to the regular drive on that computer and run a scan with the anti-virus of your choice as well as MalwareBytes. I would also check to make sure the graphics card is fully seated in the slot, though that is something of a long shot. Try these suggestions, keep me posted and we'll go from there. Good luck!

I have a Compaq 5320. We used to be able to play games on this machine but now any game you try to play - from "House of the Dead II" to card games with simple audio and animations don't work. The symptoms - the games all start fine but after a minute or two of play the sound goes (becomes "echoey"), the video slows down and the mouse becomes very sluggish. If you can hang on, the game will pick back up. It is important to note that all this started before we were online. I have downloaded updated drivers for the audio and video to no effect. Could this be some kind of buffer problem? Could XP Service Pack 1 have caused this? I am ready to wipe this thing and use the Restore disk to reset to factory condition. Help

I'm having problems with the graphics when playing the game Theme Hospital. I used to play this on my Win98 computer years ago, but have recently bought a version that says "Windows Vista Compatible" on the front for my Vista PC. It runs ok, but the graphics are messed up. All the colors are wrong and it looks really strange. I tried installing the latest drivers for NVidia and that didn't help.

Does anybody know what I can do to fix this? I have the feeling there is a simple solution, but just don't know what it is
I haven't played theme hospital for years and was really looking forward to playing it when I saw the Vista version in the store

I get BSOD whenever I am on my computer for 6 hours or over, watching a video and playing a game, or while playing gmod in general. My comp specs are on my profile as best as I could get. My computer runs 68C 26% fanspeed when not playing any games and gets as hot as 86C when playing games.
and my graphics card is up to date.

some of the BSODs were like memory management or time management or something.

Here is my SCF/scannow
Attachment 263947
and my SF Diagnostic minidump
Attachment 263945

A:BSOD playing too long, watching a video and playing a game or gmod

Hello and welcome foodwrap Mate you mentioned memory management was brought up.

Now two things you can do here is
a) reseat the sticks

b) run a memtest if the reseating doesn't have any effect

You will need to make a bootable disk for the memtest and set the BIOS to boot from the optical drive then insert the memtest disk and Save and > Enter.

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

The machine will boot into the memtest program - no OS is loaded and it will start "testing" the RAM
Now you need to let it run for at least 8 passes unless you start to get red errors straight away.
The test takes quite while and sometimes people run it overnight.

But do the reseat first and have a look to see if any crud is down in the slots. You can take this chance to have a quick once over of the machine for dust etc

See pics for what it will look like when you run the memtest if you have to.

In the last 4 days i have been experiencing crashes while playing MTW2 whilst on the battlemap.

It started with the screen flipping back to desktop, as though ALT TAB had been pressed, no error messages,
i just clicked the MTW2 icon on the side bar and returned to the game.
Next the above mentioned behaviour started being accompanied by a message saying
"MM driver has stopped working" - since yesterday this message has stopped appearing.

Last 2 days, whilst on the battle screen MTW2 just crashes with the Win 7 message box that says
this program has stopped working. It crashes all the time know whilst playing, but not immediatly,
about after 15 - 20 minuetes on the battle map.
Other events.
Recently on boot up a box entitled "AML device install" would briefly appear after windows has loaded,
i have disabled this in MSCONFIG - following web site advice.
Power cable from wall socket to PSU blew, never had this before, simply replaced it. It was about 5 years old.

A:Game crashing

Have you actually tried to reinstall the game?

(And for the sake of clarification, with MTW2 you refer to Medieval: Total War 2?)

And if your power cable blows up, that's pretty bad. No idea what could cause that, if it's just a cable without anything else. But your PSU, 520W, isn't too much.

Keep these things in mind;

PSU usually gives less power than in the description. And then, if it's old, your capacitors are getting worn out and your computer will get lot less power than it's supposed to.

However, if your computer wouldn't get enough power, it would crash completely and you'd get constantly overheating issues. But just in case, do you have anything to check your temperatures with?
