I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello!I have another problem with my X1 -- which has been a huge disappointment so far.I travel pretty often and when I connect the power cord to my Lenovo X1 on an airplane, the laptop does not charge. The icon of the battery charging from the cord goes  on and off constantly. When opening Lenovo Vantage, it says that the power cable is connected for 2 seconds or so, then it says that the power cable 65w is connected for 2 seconds, and  then says that the cord is  connected but not charging for other 2 seconds and the it start the loop again.   I have tried to enable/disable windows airplane mode and/or Lenovo airplane power mode (from the Lenovo Vantage) but it did not affect the results. I also tried any possible combination between the two (both on, one off and the other on, "enable auto detection" on and off, etc). This happens on different airplanes of different airlines (British Airways and United) ? so it is not an airplane issue. What to do?ah, I tired to hibernate the laptop and then charge it, but It does not charge even when hibernated Thanks

Just got purchased the x1 carbon 5th gen along with the Thunderbolt 3 dock.  However, the dock will not charge the laptop.  Every time I get the error message "The dock is not supplying enough power to your computer.  Please use the ac power adapter that came with the dock".  I am, in fact, using the ac adapter that came with the docking station.  I have updated the bios as well as all of the other recommended updates and still get the same error message.  Does anyone have a solution?

I apologize if this is buried somewhere on the forum. I searched for hours, really, but could not find anything exactly relating to this. After months of "Upgrade to Windows 10" pop ups I finally did it. On Windows 7 I was able to change my battery capacity to 100% before I left for a business trip then change it back when I returned home. Now I can't find where to do that and it won't charge above 46%. I've tried downloading the Lenovo Power Manager as one post suggested but it doens't have the seperate "Power" menu item as the instructions displayed. I've tried uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery as another post suggested but that didn't help either.I have this option after upgrading my Ultrabook Yoga 2 to Windows 10. The Enegery Manager remained loaded. I simply want the same control over my battery on my X1 as I have on my Yoga. Can anyone help me?Thanking all of you in advance,Clare

Hey guys, I've dug through all of the previous posts about charging issues with the X1. Apparently there are many, but none of the solutions seem to work for me. When I plug in the AC adapter, the power button blinks, and the red LED does as well. I'm assuming the charger is working fine. But when I turn on the laptop, the battery is not charging. Windows doesn't show it as charging, nor charges when it is shut off. All signs look like its charging but simply is not. Has anyone ran into this issue? All of the posts have to do with the charge staying at a float, or windows saying it is charging but is not. So far i've 1. Done the bios battery reset2. opened up the laptop and disconnected the battery / reconnected3. Pressed the reset button4. installed the power management app Any other ideas? Please help! Thanks.

Hi guys, So i have upgarded to the X1 Extreme from my 6th Gen X1 Carbon. One thing i did not consider was the 135W charger vs 65w USB c charger that you get on the X1 6G. Problem i have is when i fly long haul the normal max wattage of plane seats is 90W. I took an 86W Apple USB C charger with me recently (that i know works on that plane on my old 15" USBC MBP) and this didnt work on the X1. Not any sign of even being plugged in but not charging. Is there a BIOS setting maybe to not allow USB C Charging. Could this be the case?? Thanks

Hello,As the title of the post suggests, I have a 3rd gen X1 Carbon Yoga (still under warranty) and yesterday the following happened. This is the second time since I have owned it. I had used the battery down to about 20% and turned it off. I then plugged in the charger and the red i dot on the ThinkPad logo blinked a couple times. But! The charge light didn't light up ... right away at least.I waited about 30 sec, and then turned the laptop on to see if it showed as charging. As soon as I pushed the power button, the charge light came on instantly. I saw that it said "plugged in, charging" on the battery icon, so I powered down. The charge light remained on. I left it plugged in all night. And when I looked at it the next morning, the charge light was still on.?? I powered on, and to my dismay, the laptop hadn't charged at all! But it said "plugged in, charging" on the battery icon again. So, I powered down and waited.  Within about 30 minutes, the charge was up to the 80% I have the charge capped at through the Lenovo Power Manager. What could cause that?Has anyone here experienced this sequence of events before?

I didn't install drivers from sections Enterprise Management and responsible for storage. Should I?Then tried to restore system once again, but windows won't allow me without connected AC. System recovery doesn't work as well. Also, tried to look in BIOS settings, but unfortunetly couldn't found anything that would help.I don't think it is a charger problem becouse it is quite new, and the problem appeared just after BIOS update.I have 50% battery left and don't know what to do when it will be gone to 0 .I will add that both usb-c ports don't work. Can't test them with external storege, becouse i have none.Do You have any ideas? hey alljust got the c940 delivered. bought the HD version rather than the 4K mainly after owning the surface pro 4 and being disappointed with the battery life that was blamed on the UHD screen confused on the 65w requirement vs what i read on amazon and other forums on powerbanks.will 30w or 45w or 48w usb c power banks with PD work on the c940  i have got the charmast powerbank with 18w output and i can tell you that doesnt work! are there any affordable ones that are compatible with the c940 out there? any advice? thanks in advance

A:Yoga c940 powerbank requirements

You'll need a power bank that will negotiate for the voltage your computer requires. Not all do that with every brand. I believe the 940 is looking for 20v like most other computers. 18W means it's doing less than 1 amp, which might work if you leave it connected for a whole day and don't turn the machine on.

I have 4 USB-C AC Adapters. Three 45W and one 65W.  All three will charge my 920 (which came with the 65W charger). One of the 3rd party 45W adapters won't charge my 910. That's mostly due to the charger not recognizing the 910 and falling back to 5v.

For best results, I wouldn't use anything smaller than 45W.

Hello,

recently bought a T470s, very happy with it so far. Tried out USB Type-C charging from my powerbank and it doesn't react. Is it the cable, the power bank or is it possible to charge through powerbank at all?

Powerbank 10000 mAh, 3.6 V, 36 Wh
Input 5.0 V/2.0 A
Output 5.1 V/2.1 A

Cable - random 2$ Male USB 2.0 - Male Type-C adapter

PS. If it's not possible to charge via powerbank, why would you give it a type-C port at all... Nobody is ever gonna use it for type-C AC power adapter, cause the port is on the right hand side... *palmface*

A:T470s USB Type-C charging via powerbank?

USB-C supports many voltages and there is a protocol for the power supply and the device to negotiate the requirements.  You have a laptop that needs 20V and a power bank that only outputs 5 volts.  If you look at your charger that came with your laptop, it can output 5V for your phone or 20V for your laptop.  (also 9V and 15V)  You need a better or smarter powerbank

Hi,

I am planning on buying a portable wall charger/powerbank and I just want to make sure it won't reduce my phone's battery life in the long run. The phone I have is a BLU Energy XL, which came with a 9V/2A charger that plugs into the wall. However, the powerbank that I am most interested in provides 5V/4.8 or 5V/3.0A (or Qualcomm 3.0, which I am actually not sure about the tech specs) and most powerbanks in general I believe provide something like 5V maximum from USB type ports. In looking up some articles, I discovered that one should try to match the voltage of a replacement power supply (in this case, analogous to my powerbank) to the original power supply because otherwise this may impact the battery's lifetime. Is that true?

In general for my knowledge, how does one convert between something like 9V/2A and 5V/3A in terms of the impact it has on a battery? I can kind of conceptually understand the impact that current has in that it really sets an upper limit for the Amps that a power supply can find and the higher the amps for a given voltage, the faster a device will charge. Not really sure about the impact of voltage? Can one just compare the power of the different chargers like 9*2= 16 watts vs 5*3=15 watts?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi,I got and AUKEY PB-XD20 with USB PD (Power Delivery) 12V 1,5A - 18W.When I connect it to my yoga it charges it for few seconds than disconnects. Repeating the cycle over and over. The thing is - when I turned Yoga off and leave it connected to this power bank time the % of the battery is going up.When Yoga is up, after few cycles it gets crazy and hangs - forcing me to restart it. Can someone at Lenovo take a look into it and allow to charge it with some lower wattage while off? I do not want to break anything, but this cycle is probably worse than constant power delivery.

I have a Lenovo T460s that will only charge when the computer is either turned off or in hibernation. When turned on, I get the dialog box stating that "Incorrect AC adapter is attached." , along with the boilerplate text that details the problem, and gives some helpful advice.  I have searched the forums for a solution, and have tried a few things (like disabling airplane charging mode) but to no avail. We had replaced the power cord and charger, but the problem persists. I suspect that the charging port itself was damaged, and not the charger. Is it possible to determine if the problem is truly due to a lack of amperage (or wattage)?  I suspect that the rectangular charge adapter has a simple detection mechanism to determine the wattage of the power supply, and that this mechanism is causing the laptop to incorrectly detect the wrong type of power supply. If this is the case, is there a setting, either in BIOS or in Windows itself, that can disable this detection and enable the laptop to charge, despite the damaged port? (I realize this is not ideal or recommended.) Thanks in advance.

A:T460s won't charge properly-"Incorrect AC adapter is attached."-work around damaged charge port

Hi,I just activated battery "charge threshold" mode (with the default 80-85%). Let's say I need to charge the battery to 100% once a week, how do I do that without changing the threshold in Vantage? Thank you!

A:How to do a full charge when "charge threshold" mode is activated

You can turn off chargin threshold.  It should fully charge.  Then turn back on charging threshold afterwards.  I've done that on Thinkpads before.  Turn off charging threshold and once charged to 100% for a out of office business appointment then turn back on charging threshold.  A little error message pops up in vantage that something to the effect charging threshold wont take effect until battery level is below threshold limit.  The thresholds are still stored from when you turn charging threshold off and back on in Vantage.

Hello fellow techies,
I have a situation with my Compaq Evo N600c battery or something in that directions, so I need possible solutions. My laptop needs to be plugged in at all times, which makes it frustrating because its a portable laptop. If it becomes unplugged the laptop will turn off within 10 seconds flat. I fear that this will, if it hasnt already done so, mess up my electric circuits among other components. Can any of you suggest or recommend options I can use to diagnose the situation. I would like to find out what the problem is, whether I should buy a new battery or some component or prong that I need to replace? Thanks for the feed back!

Linda

A:Battery will not charge or hold charge?!?!

Yup, sounds like a battery problem.

First, make sure the battery has a charge. Most laptop batteries have a button on them somewhere you can push that will give you the power level. Alternativly, there should be a utility in windows or the BIOS that will allow you to check the power level.

If the battery has no charge and isn't charging, then replace it with a known good one and see if it will charge up when the laptop is plugged in.

If the good battery won't charge up, then there is a problem with your motherboard.

If the battery has charge but won't power the system, then there is a problem with your motherboard too.

If this is the case, then the best you can do is contact the laptop manufacturer and get them to replace the motherboard.
