Lenovo Yoga 710 - Inactive scrolling not working with trackpad

Q: Lenovo Yoga 710 - Inactive scrolling not working with trackpad

I got my Lenovo Yoga 710 in the summer of 2016, and everything works great except for the inactive scrolling. The inactive scrolling only works when I have an external mouse attached to my laptop, in which I am able to type in one window while scrolling in another window that's inactive. However, the inactive scrolling doesn't seem to work when I am using my trackpad and not an external mouse. I have updated all of my drivers, but I just don't understand why the feature would work only with the external mouse and not the trackpad. It is rather inconvenient to carry around an external mouse when the trackpad is supposed to do the job. I am coming from a Macbook Pro and I really miss the inactive scrolling that it provided. I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me. Thanks! P.S. I do not have any third party software installed and the inactive scrolling feature is "enabled."

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

When scrolling with the index finger on my right hand I will regularly hover over and lightly touch the left button with my left index finger in anticipation of the link/button/text box etc that I am about to click on. I have always done this an never encoutered any issues on the numerous laptops I have owned and used in the past). When I do this on my newly axquired Lenovo Yoga 900 it causes the mouse pointer to lag momentarily. I have updated drivers (v19.0.17.57), I have turned off ALL Multi-Finger options (2-finger, 3-finger and 4-finger) and reduced Palm Tracking to the minimum. Is this behavior isolated to me, or are other experiencing the same behavior? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So I booted my PC after an update the other morning and the keyboard and trackpad weren't working. I tested the brightness keys on my keyboard and they still worked so it couldn't be a hardware issue there, and my mouse still worked so it was just the trackpad that had something wrong with it. The trackpad has a driver error (code 10) but the keyboard says it's working correctly. Here's what I've tried in hopes to resolve the issues so far: -Reinstalling trackpad drivers -Uninstalling both trackpad and keyboard drivers then restarting -System Restore -Chkdsk on both drives -A trick I read on these forums where you flip the device into tent mode, then after a few seconds flip it back round to laptop mode. I am utterly confused as to what's wrong here as nothing has even slightly helped my problem. Any help?

After a Window's update, my trackpad stopped working. After searches online for how to fix the issue, I noticed that the trackpad was completely unistalled from my computer (vs. just being disabled). I went to the Lenovo website and re-downloaded the driver, which fixed the issue..... for a few weeks. Now my trackpad stopped working again (randomly mid use...I had not restarted my computer or anything), with no further windows updates occuring. I looked and it is once again, unistalled. I tried to download the driver again, but it didn't fix the issue this time. How do I get my trackpad back installed and working?

Similar to other posts on this forum, I'm experiencing somewhat random two finger scrolling behavior when using the trackpad on my brand new X1 Yoga Gen3. Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.16299.431]Synaptics Driver: 19.3.4.201 The problems are:1. In Chrome, scrolling a page downward usually works (fingers moving up the touchpad).  Vertical upward scrolling (fingers moving down the touchpad) works maybe 50% of the time.2. Random jumps that I can't attribute to my palm hitting the touchpad. I've tried umpteen bios and driver updates, and changing power, touch, sensitivity settings to no avail.  I don't really believe it's a pure hardware issue, because when I go to certain web pages like Google maps, I can zoom in and out using two finger touch with a reasonably good success rate.  When it fails it's always when zooming in (two fingers moving down the touchpad), and instead the cursor just moves down the page (without the map zooming), so the second finger has is no longer recognised. It also seems to be related somehow to the complexity of the javascript the page is running.  This forum, for example often exhibits the problem worse than many other web pages.   So my guess is that the software stack is just slow getting the scrolling message to the browser code or fails to recognise two fingers moving down the touchpad.   Anybody have any other ideas?

At several occasions now, my trackpad two-finger-scrolling stops functioning as it should after some time of using the system. It seems the gesture is still recognized, but it is handled incorrectly: rather than scrolling 'within' the selected window, the whole window seems to 'bounce' indicating I can't scroll any further. Scrolling with an external mouse works fine, as does scrolling with the touchscreen, as does moving the mouse to the scrollbar and click-dragging.
I have updated all latest drivers, except the BIOS which is on A06 since I do not want to upgrade it (yet) since the higher versions currently cause the screen's brightness to flicker. Unless this BIOS is known to address these issues (not listed in the details) I do not see a reason to upgrade it (again).
Worth noting is that this issue only seems to arise after some time of using the system (possibly after a few sleep sessions?).

I've been trying to find an solution to this, but have been unable, so hopefully someone here will help.  Got my X1 Carbon - 2015- 20BS about a month ago, and have an issue with scrolling horizontally in Excel only.  I just can't get it to two-finger scroll horizontally.  Vertical scrolling works fine.  Other office applications work fine, vertical and horizontal. I rolled back the Synaptics Driver (19.017.2), uninstalled it and installed the one from Lenovo site, but I can't get it work.  I've looked at Excel settings, unistalled, reinstalled, repaired and still no dice.  Any ideas?  Is there something that I'm missing in a setting somewhere?  I work in Excel pretty much all day so this is fairly annoying to say the least.  Thanks in advance.  R

I would like to change the scrolling speed of my lenovo yoga 910 but the only settings I see are the tracpad gestures and mouse settings in mouse and tracpad settings. This looks like a windows 10 issue but some other laptops have additional settings for trackpad and I would like to know they exist for this ultrabook. I also wonder if I can configure the trackpad gestures. For example I want to add/configure the dragging gesture from double-tap to three finger tap and drag. It seems that you can only turn them on/off. Again, this seems to be a windows 10 issue but any help is appreciated.

The trackpad might break me here... it's absolutely terrible if you're the kind of user that likes to use single finger click and two finger right click exclusively. You can set it up for this behaviour but it basically disables the entire bottom third of the trackpad.

Are there tactile click locations for left and right click in the bottom corners?  Or is it totally "tap" sensing?  Mine shipped out yesterday and this was one of my concerns.  Another option that just went on sale, the ThinkPad X1 Tablet, has dedicated buttons like a traditional ThinkPad.  It's much pricier for the same hardware, though, and I like the Yoga flexibility compared to a Surface type setup.

I have had my Yoga 710 Thinkpad or the last 6 months without any problems, until a couple of days ago, when my Trackpad stopped working.  There is no response from the cursor, which disappears when I use the touchscreen.  I can see the cursor when I press Ctrl, but is completely unresponsive when I try to use the trackpad.

I have been through the forums and tried everything short of resetting the computer with no success:
-Pressed F6.
-Tried to enable the mouse from the control panel, there was no option to enable or disable the touchpad.
-Tried every combination of deleting, updating and checking the mouse driver.
-Updated the BIOS from the website.  I also could not find an option to enable the mouse from the BIOS screen.
-Fully updated Windows 10.
-Booted up the computer in Safe Mode, no joy.

I am running Windows 10 on a Lenovo Yoga 710 14ISK, model 80TY, the touchpad is Synaptics.  According to the Control Panel, the device drivers are up to date, and the device is (apparently) working properly.

Hi, I have a ThinkPad Yoga 12 2nd gen with these specs: -Processor: Intel core i5-5300U-Ram: 8GB-Hard Drive: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD (installed by myself) and SanDisk 16GB PCIe M.2-Screen: Full HD 10 point multi-touch with Wacom digitizer-BIOS: JEET78WW (1.27) The trackpad and trackpoint on this laptop has stopped working the second time and with that, the CPU fan has halted as well, with the backlit function of the keyboard non-working as well. The first time it happened, I sent it back for an in Depot Service, but this time around, I am out of warranty and when I asked a ThinkPad Certified Technician, he recommended me to simply buy a new machine rather than getting it serviced because it would cost me more than half as much of the original price of my laptop. I really like this laptop and don't want to change it, but if I have to, the 8th generation Intel pro... The Trackpad is unusable on my Thinkpad Yoga 260. When I try to use it it doesn't respond most of the time. Strangly though when I use the very tip of my finger it does work. To me that sounds like the palm rejection is too harsh. Also the scrolling gesture doesn't work if I place my fingers vertically. It does work if I place them horizontally). The Trackpad is from Elantech. I tried changing the driver settings, re-installing it and nothing helped. The problem with the Trackpoint is that when I try to scroll vertically using the middle button the scrolling symbol often first shows up horizontally and I need to press the trackpoint hard to get it to scroll. This all on Windows 10. I am thinking that this is all a driver issue because I tried out Ubuntu and there it works without problems also uninstalling the driver gets the Touchpad to work but the gestures don't work then. But if this is a driver issue shouldn't everyone have this problem?

My thinkpad X1 Extreme has been giving me trouble. I could really do with some advice from someone clever.

(1) When I run Lenovo Vantage my trackpad stops working. I need to restart before it will work again.
(2) It doesn't recognize some usb peripherals (which work fine with other machines)

So I used Windows restore - no change.

I download recovery software - not an easy task but after going through 4 clueless customer service people I found a guy who told me how to get past a web-glitch - and restore to original factory.

After restpre to Factory - Lenovo Vantage still borks the trackpad
The USB peripheral in question still won't work
And now there a pink tint to text whenever I scroll. It makes working in Word really annoying.

Is there any way I can fix these things? I have veyr little faith in lenovo support. I do have on site next day warranty but again, my trust level with Lenovo support is very low. I'm a little past the 30 days in which I can return and tbh I love the machine  so want to keep if possible.

Any advice? Did I just get a lemon? Is Lenovo Vantage freezing trackpad a common issue? Is the pink text while scrolling a color calibraton issue that can be fixed? Should I bite the bullet, call customer service again and try to set up a repair?

Thanks so much for any advice!

Two-finger scrolling has suddenly stopped working on my Yoga 710. A reboot hasn't worked. Two-finger zoom still works, but when I try to scroll it malfunctions. Pulling two fingers down on the touchpad minimises the window. Pushing two fingers up takes me to miniature view of all my open windows. Very occasionally it will scroll slightly in one direction but not the other, but I can't get it to happen often enough to work out why it works occasionally. What is going wrong? EDIT: It now seems that the zoom is a bit finicky too. It works much of the time when I try to enlarge or shrink Facebook in my browser, but not all the time.

This has been a problem that I've been having since the original trackpad driver Lenovo put out when Windows 10 was officially released.  I've seen other people mention they have the same problem, but there's still no solution.  Problem: After the Yoga S1 goes to sleep or hibernates, the trackpad doesn't work.  The cursor doesn't show up on the screen until I move the TrackPoint or if I have an external mouse connected.  The only thing thing functional is the trackpoint and physically pushing the trackpad for right and left click.  Gestures, tap to click, etc. do not work.  The problem has been consistent with every driver version up to and including the latest 19.0.17.2 that Lenovo put out on 9/7.   The only way to get the trackpad working again is to uninstall the synaptics driver, reboot, reinstall driver, reboot again.  Probem returns after waking up the computer after going to sleep or hibernate.   I'm forced to use driver version 19.0.19.1 directly from synaptics.  The trackpad works perfectly, but the right and middle buttons (at the top of the trackpad) for the trackpoint do not work since it's just a generic driver.   Lenovo has put out at least two new drivers since this problem has popped up  and others have complained about it on this forum and still hasn't been fixed.

If I push the middle button, I can scroll, but if I lift my fingers from the touch pad the cursor continues to move until I manually push one of the trackpad buttons. It's very inconvenient. Reinstalling the driver does no good. I suspect this would work better if I could uninstall the ultra nav program and do a fresh install, but I cannot find where to uninstall the driver. I have checked out other answers on the forum for the issue and none of the solutions work for me. I am summarizing my problem below: 1. Two-finger gestures like scrolling, zoom ,etc don't work in Windows 10 2. They work flawlessly in Linux based OSs3. Right click context menu 'disappears' in certain apps when ELAN driver is installed. This problem goes away with uninstalling the driver4. Touchpad under the ELAN settings in mouse settings tab shows no 'OPTIONS' as that is greyed out. The touchpad is detected as PS/2 mouse.I tried re-installing Windows 10. Latest touchpad drivers for the Lenovo Yoga 710 14IKB. The problem persists.

Hi Lenovo community! I have just purchased the Lenovo Yoga 2 and have been exploring all of it's features. I've found that the two finge scroll feature using the trackpad is either much too sensitive or all together too fast. Whenever I try scrolling down a page, it skips to the very bottom. I've looked under trackpad options and haven't found a way to adjust this problem. Any recommendations? Thanks so much!

A:Scrolling with trackpad is way too fast!

1. Right-click the touchpad icon in your system tray. (Synaptics)2. Choose 'Pointing device properties'
3. Go to the 'Wheel' tab
4. In the first section 'Vertical Scrolling' > 'Roll the wheel one notch to scroll: ' you select 'The following number of lines at the time:', and change its default value '3' to something lower for example '1' or '2'.
