Lenovo Yoga 3 updated video driver (Intel 5500) will not work with OpenGL 2.0. How do I fix this?

Q: Lenovo Yoga 3 updated video driver (Intel 5500) will not work with OpenGL 2.0. How do I fix this?

I am panicking as I need my program to work tomorrow morning at 9 AM in Scotland. I updated the video driver as reccommended by Lenovo and now my programs won't work. I contacted support at PsychoPy and they said the driver wasn't working with OpenGL 2.0. The driver only works with OpenGl 3.0+. I tried rolling back the driver, but it didn't help. I need to get this fixed today. Any ideas on what I can do to get the driver to work with OpenGL 2.0 or what driver I should install instead from Intel to get PsychoPy to work again. I tried contacting Intel but they aren't open until 2 PM tomorrow (GMT) which is too late. I tried contacting Lenovo, but they wouldn't tell me what version to download without me paying money. I don't understand why. I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 with Intel hardware. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Preferred Solution: Lenovo Yoga 3 updated video driver (Intel 5500) will not work with OpenGL 2.0. How do I fix this?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 unit that has an Intel Graphics 5500 card onboard which constantly runs the GPU at around 100%, this causes major lag on the machine with even the most basic tasks. In a bid to resolve this I have completed a fresh install of Win10 but unfortunately the issue remains. Shutting down all apps will reduce the load but any app can trigger the increase, be it Browser, Outlook, Netflix etc. I have increased the dedicated Video Memory to 512Mb, tweaked the power/3D settings in the Intel control panel, updated grpaphics drivers and BIOS none of which has made any major difference. Any assistance/advice would be much appreciated (outputs attached).

For the benefit of others who may have the same issue, I now have a workaround for this problem (thanks to Stefan on the Intel forum!): Download the 4474 beta driver from here - Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 5500 To bypass message "best driver is already installed", "customized computer manufacturer driver" or "computer is not validated" install driver via have disk method as described at:https://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-intel-beta-graphics-drivers-surface (ignore prolog about MS surface). The utilisation dropped like a stone once this driver was installed.

The newest Intel Video Driver that Lenovo Companion has made available ( has an issue ive found that wasnt present in the previous one, and is not present in a newer version ( installed automatically through Windows 10 after uninstalling the driver through "Add or remove programs". The bug is that certian (maybe all?) OpenGL applications seem slightly zoomed in. I tested this with Genymotion VM's, after the install of the new driver they all seemed to run as if the window border diddnt exist, clipping the edges of what is shown in the window (much more noticable at the top due to the title bar). Ive restored from backups and manually installed that driver from Lenovos driver download page for this system and the same issue occures. While its possible its an incompatibility with that software, it is not present in the newer drivers (this "new" driver is actually alwready old) so it might be worth pushing a newer driver.

I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 32-bit and NONE of my video players(vlc, windows media, divx, quicktime). I can stream videos online, but any time I try to play any files from my harddrive whatever player I use freezes up. Sometimes if I wait I will hear the audio, but the player itself is still frozen and no video will play. I tried updating my video driver, but it didn't help. I've tried every combination of file and player, but nothing works.
Processor: Intel® Pentium®4 CPU 3.00GHz

Installed memory(RAM): 2.50 GB

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit

Videocard: GeForce 6200 TurboCAche™

I also have well over 100 GB of free space on my harddrive.

A:NO video players work (already updated driver)

Did you check your machine on the Microsoft website for any compatibility issues before upgrading?

Win 7 also has a system diagnostic that can pinpoint any problems as well. I'm on XP at the moment and I can't remember where to navigate to it. The search function should turn it up under performance.

Hi, I want to upgrade my Windows to the latest update (October 2018). But upon reading the Lenovo support website, it seems that it's advisable to upgrade Intel Graphics Driver to version and newer which is available with Intel Audio Driver I have tried updating my drivers through Lenovo Vantage, but that only installed the Nvidia VGA driver, not the Intel one. I also checked the available drivers on Lenovo support page but the Intel Graphics Driver version I need is not listed. Am I missing anything? Is there a timeline on when that driver is going to come out? Thanks.

I have a Levono 330 which device manager says has an Intel HD Graphics 5500 display and the max resolution is 1366 x 768. Not great but adequate.
I installed the Oracle VM 5 (in order to run some old DOS software) and created a virtual XP machine - that was dead easy.

Oracel VM defaulted the XO machine to a small window at 800x600. I changed the screen resolution and it allowed a maximum of 1600x1200 so whooppee, I selected 1600x1200. The screen resolution was visibly better than the 1366x768 that I had under native windows 10. So it would seem that the screen can cope with a higher resolution that 1366x768 - or am I kidding myself!?

So how do I get Windows 10 to let me set a screen resolution of 1600x1200 that I can set in the VM?
Silly boy. I just noticed that the increase dots come from increasing the size of hte screen to a point where it does not all fit on at the same time!! :-(

Can anybody please explain this? Also, should I keep this updated driver or roll back to the previous version?
One more thing, when I set up this laptop for the very first time after purchase, I remember the total graphic memory it used to show was something around 2k MB. I don't understand why does it share this much now. And if this graphic memory is shared from RAM, then it's almost eating up 4GB of my RAM!! The system has total 8GB RAM. Is it fine to let the Intel graphics share so much of RAM when this laptop already has 4GB dedicated Nvidia Geforce 920M? Please help.
Thank you.

Why are there still no updated Intel Graphics drivers offered? We are stuck on version 23 that are incompatbile with Windows 10 1809. The official Intel drivers are at version 25 and can't be installed because they are not signed off by Lenovo.

A:Where are updated Intel graphics drivers for Yoga 920?

Lenovo typically stops signing off on driver updates if there's no significant functionality change. I think there might be one more update Lenovo will sign off on, but that's speculation.
Is there any particular reason you want to update the graphics driver? Because if the current one is working fine, updating the driver might cause more harm than good.
If you really do want to update the driver, you can do it with Device Manager; here's another forum thread on that here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Updating-Intel-graphics-driver-on-Yoga-920...
Hope that helps.

Hi, I recently purchased my new yoga laptop (Yoga 530-14ARR)  with AMD ryzen 5 2500U processor in it. I used it regularly for about 2 weeks, but notice some problem with it several days ago. Whenever I watch x265/HEVC videos with hardware encoding (I use MPC-HC), the video always freeze exactly at 45mins mark. Everything works fine for x264 or other type of encoding and I don't want to use software encoding because it won't cut it because of the quality of the video and it ends up choppy. After trying to search it online, I found some discussion on reddit about some people have the exact same problems with ryzen and several of them conclude that the problem lies within the driver, because when they update the driver to version 18 (they are on driver version 17 when they have the problem) the problem's gone. Unfortunately, AMD does not provide driver for ryzen 5 2500U directly. I can only get the driver through lenovo's site and it looks like how they label the version is different too. I did update all my driver yesterday with the new driver that came out at Sept. 26, but the video problem still exist. Is there anything more that I can do?

Hey all,  As my username suggests I'd love some help. I am a grad student and writing papers right now and am freaking out at the idea of a laptop failure, which would seriously impact some deadlines. My X1 Yoga 1st Signature Edition, 64bit Windows 10 Pro, had a flickering screen issue a few months back but it was rare. The entire screen flickers, with horizontal bars mostly. I have seen this issue in other posts on the internet easily enough, but mine is different (I think). It never happens at the opening Windows login screen however, and it would be triggered by intensive RAM applications; so originally I was thinking it was a serious computer issue; no longer being able to handle all of my pdfs and chrome tabs open. But the way in which it would present itself made me think otherwise, so I disabled all non-Windows services in system configuration. That immediately fixed it (for a while). When it came back some days later, I was so sad, and this time I updated my Intel drivers on the Lenovo site. I was sure that would fix it, as it seemed like a substantial new update. It did for a while but it just came back again, and I don't know what to do. I still think it is a driver issue and not a hardware issue, but I think I need some custom instructions for this particular situation. It is not the flickering based on brightness issue others have said. The screen flickers, then goes black, I have to close the laptop and put it to sleep, then open it back ... Read more

It seems like you need to update your Graphics Driver.
I checked Sony Site and they list a Driver only for Windows? 7 64-bit which you may use:
Sony eSupport - VPCEE41FD - Drivers & Software

and I checked AMD ATI site which provides only this legacy driver for Windows 8 (32 or 64bit:
AMD Catalyst

Only two drivers I could find for you. Try that.
ATI is poor at supporting older graphics card and my VAIO has NVIDIA.

You could also check off Advanced OPENGL in the MineCraft Window if you can.

I was/am trying to solve a BSOD issue and made things worse.
After running memory tests, hard drive diagnostics, sfc /scannow, and not coming up with anything I started to lean towards driver issues.
I used WhoCrashed to analyze my system and it pointed to iastor.sys (intel storage manager driver)
Then I used DriverMax to show me drivers that need to be updated, there were a lot but I started with 2 Intel drivers:

Intel ICH10R SATA AHCI controller
Intel 82801 PCI Bridge -244e

I used DriverMax to download and install the drivers, after updating and restarting my machine it was very slow and it crashes frequently. Takes 5 minutes to boot windows and 30 seconds or more to complete any simple task (clicking on start button, scrolling navigation sliders, opening programs, etc.) and the computer crashes before I can do anything besides open a program. It did have a message that said driver failed to install. I opened DriverMax to rollback the drivers but it crashes while doing so.

I can start it in safemode and the computer is still extremely slow but does not crash. I went to do a system restore to the point before I updated the driver and 7 or 8 hours later is was still on the logging out of windows screen. I restarted and tried again to an even earlier point and the same thing happened again. I then restarted and opened safe mode w/command prompt and ran sfc /scannow and here it is 12 hours later with only 14% of the verification phase done. It's not frozen just m... Read more

Ok... I looked for about an hour and decided i would have to make a new thread for my specific problem... so sorry if im making my first post in an odd place

I recently installed a NVIDIA GeForce 5500 FX PCI 256MB DDR video card
followed directions as best i could, and disabled the Intel integrated graphics... but my PC insists on REinstalling the intel integrated graphics controller upon restart... It left me alone for awhile and i could run Counter Strike : Condition Zero moderately well (low frames after playing for over an hour) but after allowing my computer to update itself (while using IE to dowload firefox for a reinstall, IE randomly decided my home page was going to be the microsoft site for the day) and since then no matter what i do the computer insists on trying to reinstall the intel integrated graphics thing...

so my question is, how do I make this stop? how do i keep the computer from giving me the dreaded "found new hardware" bubble when im using a FAR superior (REAL) video card already?

is there something i do in the BIOS (i hope not, i dont like messing around in there) or on the motherboard itself?

i have some basic info about my comp in my signature but im going to use "PolSystemInfo" to find all my PC specs and just copy paste them below, I just hope its enough info to help so... Read more

Hmm that didn't happen to me when I put mines in. Did you install the NVIDIA drivers? Try disabling the onboard in the device manager. That?s what I did. There doesn?t seem to be an option to turn it off in the bios (my bios) maybe there is for you however. It isn?t too complicated. Just simply look for onboard graphics or integrated graphics controller or w/e and select disable, but first try disabling it in the device manager. It should be listed under display adapters -> properties -> disable this device.

You should upgrade to DX9.0c...

Hi PPHope someone can help out here, I am trying to help my father-in-law with his AiO 700.The system has been working great, but WOW (World of Warcraft) has updated recently and will not show a picture on screen correctly and tells him that the driver is out of date.I Told him to goto the AMD site and run the auto update and install the latest driver. He done this yesterday and the system now boots into windows but with a black screen.I paid him a visit today (over 100 miles drive) and booted windows into safe mode and ran DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), this got the machine working again with windows basic driver.I then used Lenovo Vantage to reinstall the graphics driver, It done this and got the system up the scratch and working and shows it has installed the latest driver. The driver shows as AMD Radeon R7 A360 (yes A360) and version 15.201.2901.1005 (22/06/2016)I have never seen a A360 this before and a search on the internet shows nothing! Can anyone point me in the right direction for a updated driver? maybe a 2019 or even a 2018 driver, I think it may be Direct X12 issue with the driver.ThanksRichard

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E20&SUBSYS_72708086&REV_04\3&11583659&0&D8 had a problem starting. Driver Name: hdaudbus.inf
Driver Date: 7/25/2012
Driver Version: 6.2.9200.16386 (win8_rtm120725-1247)
My understanding is that this is the Microsoft UAA driver mentioned in this article (http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/hdaudio.htm) "Microsoft* has chosen Intel HD Audio
as the main architecture for their new Unified Audio Architecture* (UAA), which provides one driver that will support all Intel HD Audio controllers and codecs."
The hardware in question is a 2012 retina MacBook Pro (model 10,1)
Any chance of an updated driver?

A:The Sims 3 needs updated video driver?

Firstly I would suggest updating all your drivers and software. Windows XP is at SP3 and has been for some time, so you are bit out of date there.

Unfortunately I can't research the system requirements etc for Sims 3 as my internet police at work have a pretty tight policy and deny access to anything game related, or I would check to confim that your graphics card will run the game.

As for the graphics drivers, you can get the up to catalyst control center drivers here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_xp.aspx#1

Hello everyone,

I recently updated the drivers for my video card, NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT.

After doing so, the icons on my desktop, my taskbar text, and the websites i visit have all become significantly smaller.

I've tried adjusting some things but maybe in the wrong place.

Any ideas?

I am on Vista Home Basic 32bit

A:Updated video driver, everything's smaller

your resolution has probably changed to your monitors default

right click desktop then select properties then settings , you can alter your resolution there , lower it to some thing like 1024x768 (for example)

you can do it in nvidia control panel too but thats the easiest way

*Please read in entirety before replying*The situation is as follows: - Purchased new X1 Thinkpad Yoga 3rd Gen in Jan 2019; Windows 10 64-bit- Bought with the MISTAKEN belief that the track pointer stick would have "press to select/click" capability. Not having this feature is an absolute DEAL BREAKER for me.  - Steps taken in attempt to resolve the problem: 1. Uninstalled driver for Synaptics Pointer in Device Manager 2. Installed most recent version of Ultranav Driver3. Result: NO CHANGE  - In MOUSE PROPERTIES, there is no option for "press to select" - only choices are to use for scrolling or as middle click. Question 1: Is there ANY WAY possible to incorporate the press-to-select option for the pointing stick on this model?Question 2: If it is not possible, which Thinkpad models currently DO include this option?  Thank you in advance...
