Lenovo Z50-70 recovery

Q: Lenovo Z50-70 recovery

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, I recently inherited a Lenovo Ideapad U310 Model 4375 and it currently has Ubuntu installed with no sign of any Windows partitions.Because of this, I can no longer make a recovery disc (if it was even possible to make in the first place). I've looked up the serial # on Microsoft's website for Windows and the windows product key is to be serviced by OEM (so can't download a Windows 7 ISO).Also, when trying to go through Lenovo's contact us page, the laptop shows warranty has been expired (whcih is fine). However. I could not find a page where I could purchase the recovery disc. Other things I've tried is pressing the Recovery button on the side and selecting "System Restore" from the boot menu. As expected, this does not work as the partition no longer exists. My questiopn is, where can I get a recovery disc to restore this laptop (Ideapad U310 Model 4375) to factory settings?   Thanks,Jon

I wonder if it isn't a windows licencing issue ? I am not if M$ are still supporting installs of Win7 and maybe something is failing there if you are online during the install. Also it will not install if the previous install was upgraded to Win 10 during the period when it was offered for free.Just throwing some possibilities around.

The disk that was sent to me is a USB written in Universal Disk Format - never seen this format before. It was uninitialized so i considered trying to activate it in a few ways, through diskpart in windows, and also by cloning via linux and adding boot flags to the partition it was written to. No luck, though. I'm reluctant to do much more, considering I paid money for this drive; what gives? How does one use this mysterious little drive?

On the Lenovo Onekey Recovery, I selected the option to restore system partition to its initial status. Now I'm not sure what this does exactly, but it then asked for what language I wanted to use and then username and password. And before I could type in anything, the screen turn black and no matter what I did, it wouldn't budge from there. Now I don't know if I accidentally removed windows and I don't know how to get it back. Does anyone know what options I have?

Hello and welcome,

My guess is that your G50 predates DDRS eligibility.

You can install a "clean" 8.1 from downloaded MS media and follow that with Lenovo drivers from support.

A:Lenovo G50-70, how to recovery?

hi riccardodalema,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

To recover the G50-70, you need to turn off the machine, press the OneKey Recovery button and select System Recovery. The computer will then boot into a recovery environment where you can restore the system to factory settings.

 - Link to picture

If the recovery partition is not present anymore and if you didn't create a recovery drive using this method then I"m afraid you will need to contact lenovo and get a copy of the recovery discs (shipping fees may apply).

Alternatively, you may also want to try these steps:
1. Check this guide on how to obtain a Windows 8.1 ISO (see Option One)
2. When finished, follow this guide to make a bootable UEFI Win8.1 installer via DVD/USB flashdrive
3. After creating the insatller in Step 2, use it to install Windows it (the Windows installation should be able to detect the Windows 8.1 product key in the UEFI firmware and you should be able to activate Windows).

I’m having a problem with my Lenovo S10 Netbook type 4333-36U, model llG3G,
IC: 1787B-94312G3507G. I’m running Windows XP Home Edition which was on this computer when I bought it.

I will explain my problem and then include some information from the Device Manager.

I have used Lenovo One Key Recovery and made DVD copies of my system. Using just the Lenovo S10 netbook screen when I boot to recover my computer I cannot see the “Next” button to continue the recovery process.

If I add a separate 19” monitor I am able to see the “Next” button and complete the recovery process.

I’ve tried changing the video setting to no avail. I’ll attempt to explain what I’ve found.

My netbook video setting is 1024X576 and Highest (32bit). I cannot change it to anything else.

There are two options:

1. Plug and Play Monitor on Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family
2. (Default Monitor) on Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family

When using #2 I can make changes to the resolutions but they always return to 640X480 and Low(8bit).
When using #1 I cannot make any changes at all.

When I exit out and go back in it is always set to #1.

In Device Manager under Display adapters are two identical listings:

Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family
When I check the properties each has a different location.

PCI bus 0, device 2, function 0
PCI bus 0, device 2, function l

Again, in Device Manager under Monitors are three identical listings:

Plug and Play Monitor.

A:XP and One Key Recovery on Lenovo

I have quite a few lenovo/ibm computers and the one key recovery feature wont even work on windows xp.It is only for vista and windows 7 operating systems. All of my brand new lenovos had the one key recovery feature but they came with windows 7.Secondly windows xp doesnt come on a dvd only a cd.Your computer specs are confusing as the lenovo isnt even listed in there. You need to go to the lenovo website for that model of computer and download and install all of the correct drivers for it if you need the xp ones.Look under support drivers and downloads and you should find them.On older lenovos/ibm computers there is a feature called rescue and recovery but thats only for certain models with xp.At this point since the screen is messed up you need the graphics, chipset, and video drivers so you can even see what you are doing.

Hi  niko10 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The OneKey Recovery system is not installed on some models (page23 user guide).
Would you have the machine number for checking . Check on the machine number from the sticker or check it from here ,just keep your serial number confidential.

Did you manage to use the One Key Recovery features before?
OKR is backup image preloaded on the harddrive's hidden partition , any formatting , change in partition would cause it to fail. You may check it manually using disk management .

Update us as soon as convenient.

A:Lenovo Recovery Partition

My advice (and it's just mine, of course) is to forget about the recovery partition from Lenovo, and how to use it along with the recovery media you might have built or been provided with by Lenovo, and what to do about the Q partition, etc., etc.

Why would you ever really want to go back to "factory" state?  Then you'd have to re-customize, re-install of of your 3rd-party software products, etc., etc..

Why not just instead implement an ongoing regular automatically scheduled (maybe weekly, or twice a week, or whatever makes you comfortable) "system image" backup regimen using a product like Macrium Reflect Free (or modestl priced non-free Standard version with additional useful functionality).  Buy yourself a 2TB external USB 3.0 drive like this Verbatim drive, and use it to store your multiple generations of "system image" backups.

Now you actually have an automatic system backup of your complete and up-to-date operational C-partition, as well as of any other partitions you care to backup in this "complete partition" way. If you ever do need to "restore" because of Windows corruption, or virus, or who knows what reason, you can at least revert to a very very recent version that already includes everything you've ever customized or installed.  Isn't that a better reversion platform level than Lenovo "factory"??

Also, if you want to supplement your "entire partition" backups (i.e. "system image") with a more everyday-usable... Read more

Hi,

Recently, my Mozilla Firefox has been stalling: some tabs will be in the "loading" stage forever". When I exit the program, it stays on as a process, and in fact cannot be terminated, even by task manager (and furthermore, shutting down takes forever if this dead firefox.exe process is open). Along with this, various other software have been misbehaving, causing frequent freezes and crashes.

That is not really the problem, however. I have decided to simply restore my computer to factory settings, but I am having trouble doing this as well. According to the Lenovo manual*, I should reboot, press the "Lenovo Care" button, and then follow the instructions. However, as Rescue and Recovery is starting up, it asks for a master password. This is something I almost surely did not set, and if I did, it would have been one of the passwords I commonly use. None of these work. Any suggestions?

(*Note: The guide can be found here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s...V100&family=Notebooks and handhelds|3000 V100)

I realise that this is a very specific question, but I thought I'd ask anyway on the off-chance that someone knows how to deal with it.

Thanks.

A:One key recovery key on Lenovo G560

hi Preben,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Win7 on the G560, can you try these steps:

1. Open a command prompt as administrator and type:
  diskpart
  list disk
sel disk 1 (where disk 1 is the primary drive)
  list part
sel part 4 (where partition 4 is the hidden recovery partition)
  set id=12
  exit

 - Sample image

2. After exiting diskpart, try running OneKey Recovery again and observe.

In addition, try also creating a recovery disc (see this article) as an alternative way on restoring the machine to factory settings.

Let me know if this works for you.

Hey so the hard drive of my Lenovo AIO A740 (Came with Windows 8.1 and later upgraded to Windows 10) was damaged and had to be replaced. As it was under warranty, an engineer came and replaced it, unfortunately he came a little earlier than expected and I couldnt back up my OS before the replacement (In any case, it was running way too slow to carry out any operations on that drive). I got a new hard disk but since I didnt have the backup for my OS I just went ahead and bought home edition of Windows 10 and got it installed to continue with work. The biggest issue I face is that most of the Lenovo software are missing now especially the OneKey recovery with which I had created an image of my previous work files and there is no other way to recover them using windows recovery tools. The lenovo site shows no supporting drivers/software for Windows 10. Some of the other missing software includes the motion control. I did install the windows 8 version of the software from here as suggested in some other query but it doesnt detect the same http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-pro-lenovo/download... I'm actually not that worried about the motion sensor, but it would be good to have the OneKey recovery back so that I can restore my work back to system image that I had saved on my external hard disk.

Hi All,
Just started a new job where I am required to do quite a lot of IT related work. I have been wondering if there is a quick way of installing Win 7 with all necessary updates onto Lenovo work-station (which has recovery partition), should a situation occur where the PC need to be re-set to factory settings. I have a feeling that an image after clean install and downloading all updates would be handy, however there are few technicalities that I have problems with:

1. Where should I save the image of the OS? (should I create a separate partition where the image would be placed, since the recovery partition isn't probably big enough to save into, and I could have problems accessing it)

2 Would there be another, simpler/quicker way of installing fresh OS with all necessary updates (+SP1) onto the machine without deleting/accessing/modifying recovery partition?

I spent quite a lot of time re-setting few machines, since the broadband is pretty bad in my work-place, and downloading all updates, and SP! took a lot of time.

Please note that I do not want to use USB sticks, or disks. The hard drive would be the optimal choice for me here.

Any help with the above would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

PS. Let me know if more info is needed.

Hello. I have a couple of questions regarding the one key. My laptop came with windows 8.1 installed, and all drivers installed - to make sure, I updated all drivers through Lenovo's website and my graphic card driver through nvidia's website. 1. Nothing happens when I press the recovery button, while my computer is on - is this normal? Should'nt it pop up with some options to restore or something? At least it should open the One Key app up, right? When I press it when the computer is off, it boots up with a BIOS screen with multiple options - just like I thought it would, so I guess that's working fine. 2. I made a One key backup through the One Key app, I saved it on my SSD drive since thats the only drive I have currently, though my SSD is 256 GB large, I also have a small D: drive called "LENOVO" which contains drivers etc, but it's only 25 GB big - I read somewhere that this drive was ment for one key's backup, but my current backup is filling 50 GB twice the D: drive capacity - is there anyway I can make it smaller, or should I just get rid of the D: drive? In that case, how? My One Key app is Version 8.1.0.2619 Thank you for your time, and have a nice day! Cheers - Simon

A:One key/Recovery key questions - Lenovo Y50

When you are logged into Windows, pressing ONE KEY will do nothing.
To boot into Recovery there are options in the Control Panel or the Charms Menu. or as you did shutdown and press the NOVO button.

The D: contains drivers for Lenovo, it is NOT the recovery partition. The Recovery partitions are hidden and can only be seen in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Disk Management

To make best use of One Key, you should create a USB recovery disk/drive.
It is not a system backup but it is a recovery disk and should fit in a USB of 16GB.

It initially had Windows 7 installed, but then updated to Windows 10. Now the thing is, I recently noticed that my Lenovo 16GB recovery drive is seen as E: drive (instead of Q. It only has one 'logger' file for windows, as seen in the screenshots I've attached. I assume that the recovery provided by Lenovo no longer works as it should show a pop-up when I double-click it, according to this. I would like to format and add this space to my C: drive, but I also don't want to lose the ability to recover my system to its factory settings (in case that functionality isn't already lost). Can someone please help me confirm this?

It says "You can only have one copy of the Microsoft Windows operating system. the Product media recovery Center will exit now" I have searched and found suggestions online to change a flag from "DONE=1" to "DONE=0" in RECOVERY.INI but that line does not exist in mine. Another suggestion was to make an identical change in service_done.ini but I do not have that file Any suggestions? I would like to be able to delete that partition so that I can dual boot with linux

Hello,

I am using vista on Lenovo Y500. It has 3 partitions C, D and one EISA Hidden partition. Recently I realized that the Lenovo's NOVO button for restoring the system to factory setting has stopped working. When I press it, it just acted like power button and boots vista.

I was experimenting with this and now I have completely messed up my laptop. What I did was, I made the hidden EISA partition as active and when I rebooted the laptop, it says "Operating system not found". I am totally in a hopeless position now.

I cant repair my vista also as the 'product recovery DVD' given with the laptop doesn't give recovery option at all..... and also I am not sure even if I happen to reinstall Vista my NOVO button still works or not?

Can someone please help me out with these issues?

Hello,I'm following the steps in this thread https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Lenovo-Y50-BIOS-Recovery-Reset-method-needed-HE... and I've successfully entered the Insyde Crisis mode, fans at 100% and no keyboard backlight, but one thing is not working, the Crisis mode does not read my USB with the bios files in it, I've tried 8GB, 16GB, 32GB as FAT32 and 4GB as FAT. Do any of you have an idea of what it could be?

Ive been having issue with my lenovo G580 laptop. Its been stuck in a constant startup repair loop.

Using posts on this forum, ive tried to rectify the problem myself but realised its beyond me but Ive made changes using the DISKPART feature of windows at the command prompt stage, and I think ive disabled the recovery options.

Ive tried to use the onekey recovery service preinatlled onto the laptop. Usually just press the recovery button, next to the power button but pressing this now just boots into the system repair loop.

Does anyone know how I can rectify this?

A:How to re enable lenovo onekey recovery

You can try setting the recovery partition active using partition wizard boot disk, then rebooting to try one key recovery again. There should also be a way to relink recovery to the one key button.

But the factory install is an inferior install to begin with so you'd be better off doing the reinstall in the tutorial under signature picture below.

Hi all,  Had to swap out HDD few months back and did a fresh install of win 8.1 from a disk straight onto C drive . Leaving Lenovo recovery partition completely intact. Now have put HDD back into g500 but although after some probs will only boot to the windows stored on C drive and will not let me access any part of recovery partition ?Either via hard boot . Recovery options or even OKR via file explorer ?  Any guesses as to where I'm messing up and what is the easiest way to restore directly from factory setting partition please?  Any advice much appreciated . Cheers .
