HP Envy x360 stopped working HDMI

Q: HP Envy x360 stopped working HDMI

Hi, I just got a new HP Envy x 360 in July 2016 and a new HP monitor 27es Display in mid-August. It was connecting to the monitor by using HDMI fine till last week. From a week ago (around Labor day), it stopped recognizing the monitor.I have an old HP laptop, and it is fine connecting to the the monitor by VGA. So, it is not the monitor's issue.I remember I did the recommended HP update around the same time. I am suspecting that update caused the issue with HDMI. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My son booted up his computer yesterday and when he was entering his password to enter Windows the keystrokes were not registering on the Password space and then the monitor just went blank.  The computer will turn on (power button and fan running) but nothing at all on the monitor.  I have tried a hard reset, external monitor and BIOS boot and nothing has worked. Any thoughts or suggestions? RCT

I've been running my xbox through this PC for months now and I havent had any problems, although I do need to bring up HP My Display in order for the hdmi to work correctly. I tried to connect my xbox one to the computer as usual last night but this time it said 'no signal'. I have checked to see if other hdmi cables would work (they do not) and I have tried the hdmi cable usually used for the PC on the TV and my xbox connects fine. I don't know of any recent update that may have caused something to go wrong, I can't get it to work.

I have 2 identical fairly new HP 360s, both running W10 64-bit. Both send video correctly to the TV over HDMI connection. Neither sends the audio, instead sending it to the laptop's internal speakers. This is an HP issue, as the HDMI cable is fine and works with all other devices. The cable and TV work properly with my Mac and Toshiba laptop and with my HP Pavilion desktop unit. Please advise as to the correct fix for this tiresome proble. Thanks,Steve Conelley

Tonight my touchpad stopped working on my laptop, Envy x360 with Windows 10 (I don't know if it's 32 or 64 and I don't know how to check).  In looking around the internet it seemed as if I needed to do something in Device Manager but there are no choices for touchpad in my Device Manager.  I couldn't find the drivers for the touchpad relative to Windows 10 and didn't want to load the ones for Windows 8 and mess the machine up more I'm getting very frustrated.  I've turned it off and on a couple of times hoping that would do something and it's done nothing more than frustrate me even more.  HELP!

HELP! I am trying to use Spotify, Itunes, YouTube and nothing is working. I was told to make sure that the sound driver (Conexant) was updated, and it is. then told to Roll is back if that didn't work. I worked briefly but stopped. will sometimes work on a computer restart but not often. The driver keeps saying that it is up to date and working properly. I cannot even use headphones to listen to sound. This is frustrating as I just purchased this laptop 7 months ago for school and paid close to $800. I need this to work!

Yesterday, I was watching Netflix on my laptop with my headphones, and it was working fine. I closed my laptop, went into another room and proceeded to start listeneing to Pandora about 30 minutes later. I  noticed that there was no sound coming from my headphones, so I checked that the sound was not muted on the headphones. I tried updating the drivers and everything. When I plug my headphones into the 3.5 mm jack, I get a notification that there has been a device plugged into the audio jack, but that is it. In the playback devices menu, there is nothing about headphones, just speakers. I have tried multiple different pairs of headphones, so it isn't those. Hi All, Just purchased  HP Spectre x360 - 13-4007tu in Oct.  Upgraded immediately to win 10 on receipt and updated all the drivers automatically via HP support assistant. Finnaly Got a chance to connect the notebook to my TV via HDMI. However it DOES NOT detect any external monitor except the built-in in the "graphics properties" -"select display". But when I connect to my old lenovo laptop, it picks up the same setting ( TV via HDMI ) straight away I have double checked all windows / Hp updates all latest ; go back and give a few tries and still no-go. Please help as to say the least i am very dissapointed  of HP for such a high-end work machine. The audio has been buzzy and scratchy but not crucial, whereas HDMI is for any presentation etc. Thanks for your help.

Hi @melfes?, Thank you for your query.  I grasp that you are having a difficulty connecting a TV via HDMI to your notebook. You have done all your Windows updates and ran the HPSA.  Here is a link to the HP Spectre x360 - 13-4007tu Software and Driver page to manually check that you have all the updated drivers and the latest bios update. Here are two links that may also be of aid. HP Notebook PCs - Connecting a Monitor, Projector, or TV (Windows 10, 8) HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS. A bios update does have the potential to cause damage. I suggest contacting HP support for assistance with that process. Please contact HP support at Contact HP Support. Please let me know the outcome. Thank you  for participating in the HP Forums! Today after installing windows update (synaptics-pointing drawing), my sound has stopped working on my HP Spectre x360.  I tried looking at the drivers but there are no drivers listed. All my sound keys on my keyboard are dead, it's as if there's no sound installed anywhere on the laptop.  My laptop information is as follows:  Product Name: HP Spectre x360 Convertible Product Number: N1R85UA#ABA In device manager I have Conexant ISST Audio and Intel Display Audio listed under sound, video and controllers.  I think I saw another user had an update pushed to his laptop, I'm hoping there's a similar easy solution for mine to get it up and running again. Please advise.

A:HP Spectre x360 Sound Stopped Working

Hi, Try the following. Download the Conexant HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp77501-78000/sp77502.exe When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Conexant device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72025.exe When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Conexant installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Regards, DP-K

I recently bought an HP Envy m7, and I setup an external monitor. I recently had a BIOS update, which I think broke the HDMI port. I connected the port to a projecter, and it still does not get any input through the HDMI. I've tried multiple cables, and none of them work. My monitor I'm using is an LG IPS Flatron monitor. When I plug in the HDMI, it tells me it's not receiving anything to diplay. I've used Windows Key + P to switch it to extend mode, but it doesn't work.

The computer does have an HDMI In port and also includes an HDMI In button. I connected them to each other, but when I had pressed the HDMI button, the screen had went black and said "Game Mode, No video signal". For the past few days, I've been trying to find a solution, but no luck. I've switched HDMI cables, uninstalled and updated HP MyDisplay several times, and updated my graphics drivers. I don't want to have to resort to reinstalling Windows or something drastic like that. Please help!

I purchased Spectre x360 convertible laptop at the start of August.  I had the computer for 3 weeks and the touchscreen and pen functions stopped working.  I called HP and they had me send the computer to a repair center.  Below is the paste of my original posts under a different thread name that was probably too specific due to the model number.  Wanted my experience to be viewable by others having difficulty with Spectre laptops: Original Thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Spectre-x360-13-4196ms-touchscreen-st...  09-26-2016 10:40 AM Bought this computer at the first week of August.  Set it up and used it for 3 weeks.  Enjoyed the flexibility of the convertible funtion and regularly used the touch and active stylus features.   Then the touch screen and stylus functions stopped working. After multiple attempts to reactivate the features (i.e., restart, new pen battery, software updates) I contacted HP support.  My assumption was that the hardware was bad, the screen had failed in some way, because the software didn't even recongize the touch ability any more.  HP support ran me through the standard solutions, so again restart, etc.  Then they wanted to reset Windows, revert back to the shipped version of the software, erasing all my files, apps, and software that I had migrated from my old computer.  That computer had been recycled at this point. &nbs... The power port on my Spectre laptop (Product No: K6C18AV) just stopped working. The power cord is plugged in but it is not supplying power to the laptop and is not charging the battery. The small LED next to the power port is dead, no amber or white color. I've tried a different power adapter and different outlets in my house. After doing some reading on these forums, it seems others have had a similar problem. I bought the laptop in April 2015. Warranty expired April 2016. I called HP support. They said the motherboard needs to be replaced. Minimum charge $600. Fudge, I might as well buy a new laptop.   So Questions:-Has anyone had luck replacing the DC power port inside the laptop? I found a part number PN 801513-001 on one of the forums. -Has anyone had any luck convincing HP this is a common problem and should be covered as a defect even though the laptop is out of warranty?

Hello, I've been using the Dell Active Stylus (750-AAGN) with my HP Spectre x360 for the past few months and it had been working great.  Recently, the stylus stopped working, despite having new batteries in.  I changed the batteries and still it did not work.  It was the most bizzare thing, as it literally just cut out while I was writing and did not show any signs that it was defective beforehand. On top of that, I checked my laptop with an old Active Stylus that my laptop had always been able to recognize, but could not write with it because of a faulty tip on it, and my laptop did not recognize that pen as well.  This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with my laptop (hopefully I am wrong about that). My laptop is fully updated and I checked for driver updates on the HP page for my laptop pertaining to stylus, but could not find something.  PLZ HELP.

Clive235 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Anytime someone comes here running Win10 and complains about something suddenly not working, I immediately suspect Windows Driver updates.Unfortunately, Win10 automatically forces driver updates on all of us, without our knowledge, and without our permission -- and when this happens, a working PC is suddenly "broken".  This might have happened to you.You need to go into Settings, Update & Security --> Windows Update. Then, choose Advanced Options --> History to see when updates were last applied.  If you see any that include device drivers, those could be the problem. So, if you can, you should see if you can rollback the drivers that are causing the problem.  You do this by going into Device Manager, seeing if the appropriate device is still listed, and if so, trying to rollback the last driver update. And if that fixes the problem, then consider disabling future driver updates using the information in the link:  http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/48277-driver-updates-windows-update-enable-disable-windows-10-a.h...Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================... Hi. A few weeks ago my Z70-80's HDMI port randomly stopped working, no intermittence, no warning, just stopped. It was fine in the morning, working as intended. I then had to run some errands so I shut my laptop down. I came back a few hours later tried to project to second screen but nothing. Thinking it was software and/or driver related I've tried everything from rolling back windows 10 to updating GPU drivers, even the chipset got an update. Can a HDMI port just randomly stop working like that? VGA out is fine, just not the HDMI. If anyone has any ideas I might be able to try.... Thanks all.

You could do a restore to before the update. This ill remove the updates and you can find out if its due to that.

I'd try a second hdmi cable to eliminate the cable. Being that long it may have been damaged.

3rd, update your video drivers.

Hope something easy fixes it.

My computer's been acting up since yesterday, but nothing really drastic happened until a couple hours ago. Yesterday, my computer was being kind of slow and unresponsive. Website pages weren't loading correctly on Chrome, which was my go-to browser, but were fine on Firefox. I thought this was because I hadn't turned the computer off for a couple days. I just kept putting it on sleep because I had unfinished business, unsaved. However, it got to the point where the unresponsiveness was annoying, so I decided to restart the computer. While restarting, instead of booting back up, it got stuck on the black screen and wasn't doing anything for about 10 minuites, so I just shut it off via the power button and went to bed. (It's done this before, and booted back up with no problem other times.) Today, when I turned the computer on, it booted up fine, but was being really slow and eventually froze. I had to hold down the power button to turn it off. When I turned it back on, I got a "blue screen" that read something like: "your computer has run into a problem and needs to restart. We are collecting some error info. and then it will restart for you." When the error info was collected, the computer restarted, but instead of booting up, I kept getting the blue screen over and over again. It was throwing up two different codes on the screen, one was "WFS_VIOLATION" and the other was "0xc000021a".  Eventually I was able to press F11 to get into the pre-boot sett... Read more

I searched many threads with similar titles but could not find a usable answer. I hope this post will have better luck.
My PC is connected from the graphics card to a Full HD TV via HDMI. This worked beautifully for 7 months with great video and audio via HDMI. Unfortunately it stopped working. The TV's HDMI ports and the cables work fine with other devices. On the PC I installed a new motherboard and reinstalled Windows. This is all working fine on a friend's display, including the DP connection from the graphics card. Sadly, however, the PC graphics card to TV HDMI connection is still not producing any picture or sound; not even the BIOS screen. The TV recognizes when the cable is attached (no cable vs. no signal messages) but no picture or sound results.

Some specs:
TV: Samsung UE32EH6030W
PC's OS Windows7 Pro - 74bit
Graphics card 1GB MSI Radeon HD 7770
Motherboard Asus H61MC
Processor Intel Pentium G850, Socket 1155, Dual Core, 2.90GHz

A:PC to Full HD TV via HDMI Stopped Working

I'm confused, did you replace the motherboard or the graphics card? If you are using a dedicated graphics card the motherboard would have little to nothing to do with outputting HDMI when a dedicated graphics card is installed. Does the second monitor show up in the AMD Catalyst Software? And even though the HDMI cable appears to work with another device, have you tried another HDMI cable?

Hi,

I'm sorry, I'm somewhat technologically impaired. I've been connecting my tv to my laptop via HDMI cable for several years and it's always worked fine. Today when I tried, the screens just turned back. My TV stopped saying no signal as if it recognized the computer, and the computer screen went black as if it were switching to the TV, but neither of them actually worked. I tried to go into my display settings to connect to a projector which I have had to select in the past, but it says no additional display was detected. When I tried to tell it to do it anyway, the laptop screen started turning on and off every few seconds so it was black, then back to my desktop, then black again.

The really wonky part is that when I tried starting up the computer with the HDMI cable already attached, it showed the windows startup and password screens on the TV as if it were working properly--but as soon as it loaded up the desktop it started turning the screen on and off again until I disconnected the HDMI.

I haven't changed any settings on my computer recently--the only new thing I've installed are some games off Steam. Something crazy's going on with my computer that has never happened before, could someone please help?

-Shauna

PS: This image should have the info for my computer please let me know if you need any other information

Verify the screen resolution and refresh rate.

Aside from that, try manually updating or reinstalling the laptop video drivers. The drivers should be available from the laptop manufacturers website (and are the only recommended drivers which should be used).

However yesterday it stopped working. Tried a mini-hdmi cable to a different screen which didn't work either.  It is like the mini-hdmi port is just dead. I haven't updated any drivers or installing anything new recently. Tried restarting computer and screens, no results.  Any suggestions?  Best regards,Lauge

I have a duel monitor setup where one was plugged into HDMI and the other into VGA. Both were running off of my NVIDIA graphics card (i also have Intel 4000 Graphics which came with my processor but is not in use).
When playing a game - my HDMI monitor just shut off. My VGA continuing to work.
I have tried many things such as reinstalling drivers but nothing has seemed to work. My Intel 4000 Graphics are failing to work also. I am yet to look inside of my PC to see if anything has moved out of place.
I've tried googling and I've found nothing of use. If anyone has a solution that would be great! - P.S I'm new to the forums

The HDMI connection to a video screen stopped working on this notebook.  The cable works with another notebook.  The problem might be associated with a recent Windows HP update.

My Acer ES1-111M HDMI has stopped working. It was working perfect until about a week ago. I believe it's due to a resent Windows 10 update. HDMI doesn't show anywhere in Device Manager. I tried going back to Windows 8.1 , but it didn't help. I reinstalled Windows 10 Clean Install and still no HDMI output. When I plug into my TV my TV detects a HDMI device has been connected but just flashes No Signal. I have tried every driver available including the test drivers from Intel.Almost 2 years ago I bought this to replace my HP laptop that had the exact same problem. When this happened on this Acer notebook I connected my HP to the TV Via the VGA/RGB cable. Now this Is where it gets weird. I got the HP connected and working with the RGB cable and out of curiosity I connected the HDMI cable to the HP and it made that happy noise saying it found the new device and for some reason started working. Since, I have read on the web that when this happens connecting the VGA cable first then the HDMI cable will force the PC to detect a non working port on the HDMI. Or possibly over the 2 years I've had this HP it received an update that restored the HDMI functionality. Problem is I can't test that theory on this ES1-111M because it only has a single HDMI output. I see this problem all over the web and wonder how many people don,t even know there HDMI port is dead because they never use it.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6898 laptop with Windows Vista (64 bit). For two years, I have watched movies on my TV via the HDMI connection. Recently, this stopped working (I had not installed anything new or updated the computer). The HDMI cable is definitely still good. My laptop could not connect with the external display. I tried everything I could think of including making sure the drivers were up to date (they were) and the handy reboot method. Nothing worked until I went into the device manager, right clicked on the graphics card and uninstalled and reinstalled it. Using this method, I got it to connect again for a couple of days, though I had to uninstall and reinstall every time to make it work. This has stopped working now too though. I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I have been using my HDMI port just fine between my home and work PC's. This week turned my laptop on at home and it didnt send a signal to the monitor. In device manager both the Intel Graphics 630 and the NVIDIA GFORCE GTX1050 are enabled in correctly. Windows, DELL and Nvidia drivers are up to date. The only thing i havent tried is restoring windows to a restore point from last week when it was working. Any suggestions if the restore does not work I'm sending this laptop back. It was expensive and I expect it to work accordingly.

Hi, my computer has stopped showing any signs of connection when plugged into my television. This is a major problem for me because I use my tv as a monitor. It was working perfectly fine, and has been for months, before I moved. Now I set everything up and it won't work. I tried using a different tv and a different hdmi cord to see if that was the issue but it still won't work. The tower wasn't damaged or at risk of being damaged in the move, I was very careful about that, so I'm not sure what's the problem. Thanks for any help you can offer me.

Long story short .... I have an LG 37 inch TV with 3 devices connected via 3 HDMI cables and 3 HDMI ports.

PC tower with Windows 7

PS3 Console

Verizon HD box
For months all three worked and I could switch back and forth without issue.

All of the sudden only the PC tower displays.

The PC tower is the only thing that displays on any port with any cable. The PS3 and TV give no display.
Any ideas would be great.

so I have a dell xps1530 with vista. awhile ago i used my laptops hdmi to my tv, the sound and everything worked fine. for some reason now i can't get the sound to default over to it. i know how to usually do it but when i hit make hdmi default audio nothing happens. the kicker is that when i hit 'test' on the hdmi the audio works through the tv, so the cord works and everything, my computer just won't let it become the default. i attached a hijack log if it helps
