DPC Latency/NVIDIA Graphic driver issue

Q: DPC Latency/NVIDIA Graphic driver issue

First time here, and now I really need some good advice.

I am the owner of a Sony VAIO VPCCW1S1E, and since start in January 2010 I have had some problems with crackling sound when playing audio or video. Over the last week things have gotten worse; the crackling sound won't stop. I've been reading several threads about the problem, and I realize that it's common. Obviously, I'm not alone. Some seem to get the problem solved in different ways, and others seem to struggle.

However, I've been trying some troubleshooting today by using DPC Latency Checker and atencyMon. I have found out that my graphic card NVidia GeForce GT 230M is the main problem. In LatencyMon driver file nvlddmkm.sys reaches highest execution value (>2.00), but also tcpip.sys, ndis.sys and ACPI.sys get high values (>1.00) in LatencyMon.

In DPC Latency Checker I get more red bars than green, and values are pending between 2000 and 25000um. When disabling, and also uninstalling the graphic card, the green bars will show up more frequently with values between 500-1000um. After reinstalling and upgrading NVidia things haven't get better. Actually, it seems to have gotten worse, and the crackling sound goes on. I have also upgraded BIOS, and reinstalled sound card drivers.

What to do now? Suggestions?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I know nothing about your particular hardware, but when I have had problems with crackling sound, I was able to eliminate it by adjusting and/or reseating the cables in their connectors. I'm assuming that your audio and video work through the same HDMI connection, if not, then I don't know what to say.

Hello people,
while playing Arma 3 I noticed strange crackling/popping noises in the menu and in-game when there were a lot of background sounds. I found a video of someone else on YouTube who had the same issue:
Arma 3- Crackling and Popping Audio - YouTube

The crackling was also brought to my attention during video playback on YouTube at some occasions. Sometimes videos froze or turned black. I did not think much of it when I first noticed it. A few days ago, I remember having a "nvlddmkm.sys stopped working and recovered" warning when the pc came back from sleep mode that I now recognize as another symptom of the issue. I also experienced multiple BSODs caused by nvlddmkm.sys a month or so ago that I suspected to be caused by faulty drivers. However, no BSOD or "stopped working warning" has happened to me ever since.

When I googled the sound crackles today, I read that there might be a connection to a latency issue with my drivers. I installed LatencyMon (Dpc Latency checker doesn't work with Windows 10). I let it run in the background while I continued playing Arma 3 and it confirmed my suspicion. According to Latency Mon, the Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode driver, my old friend Nvlddmkm.sys, is causing the "buffer underruns". I attached screenshots of the LatencyMon results to this post. When I found out that the problem lay with my graphics driver, I did a complete clean install of Windows 10. I turned off automatic driver updates and ... Read more

Have integrated sound card and Lan card ? Happen to add new hardware recently ? So you upgraded originally from another OS and did clean install of Win 10 ? Using HDMI to monitor try disabling HDMI Audio in sound properties or NVIDIA control panel. Updated all other system and hardware devices, like sound, Lan, etc.. ? Try reseating Graphics card and you said you uninstalled the drivers for Video cleanly, try this then reinstall them again http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
What i am not sure of is this issue happened with only the new NVIDIA drivers, new hardware (possible video card or other), assumed happened only now in Windows 10. Could be conflict with another hard or it's drivers or settings on either.

PCI Latency Tool
We decided to include this handy tool so you could adjust the PCI latency in order to avoid PCI bus choking. It helps optimize performance and resolve stuttering and sound issues. **It's recommended to set latency values to 64 for all your PCI/AGP Devices. This tool doesnt support PCI Express cards.

With nHancer the creation and management of profiles is very easy, and the user receives as much assistance as he needs, to understand what he's doing.

A:NVIDIA Graphic Card Driver

You're very welcome. I don't know the specs on the cards other than I know they work on W7, because I installed two of each in 4 d530's and they ran W7 just fine for years. I did not upgrade the power supplies, and never had a problem.  I don't believe you can upgrade the P/S on any of those PC's. I got the cheapest ones I could find at the time, which is why I didn't go with all of one brand or the other. I think the 9600's are more available and cheaper nowadays.  They should have 128 MB of onboard memory. Here's a 9600 for $13 bucks. This will only work on the CMT. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-Radeon-9600-SE-128M-Video-Graphics-Card-AGP-102-A03509-10-DVI-VGA-S-VIDEO-/321613165179?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item4ae1a3727b If you have the SFF you will need to find a low profile model with low profile mounting brackets.

The hardware/gaming experts here can help you better if you provide a description(brand name, model number, wattage, speed, etc.) of the following:

If that's a factory-brand computer and not a custom/home-built one, also provide its brand name and model name and model number.

Hello all,

I have a strange problem with my nvidia graphics card driver. Recently I did a format of my laptop and re?nstalled Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything seems to run oke, the only issue I have is that I can't get my nvidia graphics driver installed. Windows tells me my graphics card drivers aren't up to date so I went to the Nvidia website and let it scan my laptop. When it's done it tells me to download the driver and install it. When I run the driverupdate program from the Nvidia website, it first scans my systems and then comes to tell me that it cannot find the graphic cards hardware so it cannot install? Can anybody help me with this?

Next, update the nvidia display driver. It is extreme too old.

Hi, i'm experimenting problems with graphic card driver. When i install the driver (both the Lenovo suggested one and the Intel one), the screen become black and i can listen the sound of a disconnected device. Then, after every boot, i can't see anything on the display. I installed windows from zero and i haven't installed any other third party software, the only operation i've done after the installation is the Windows' update and Lenovo's drivers update. I tried also to install graphic card driver in safeboot mode, and the installation completes, thus i think the problem depends on conflicts between drivers. I also tried to install old Intel driver, but the problem persists. The first time it happend was in June, during a Windows' update. After that, the only "solution" i found to see the screen is to restore the Microsoft basic driver. I can't figure out if the problem depends on Windows or on Lenovo's drivers. Any solution?Thank you.

Hi

I have Gateway m 6823 notebook, which came with WIndows Vista. I have downgraded from Vista to XP, and was very surprised that there were absolutely no drivers for XP on gateway website for this model. I have searched intel and other sites and found XP drivers that work fine on my notebook now. I got wireless card working, sound, touchpad, the motherboard chipset driver and etc.

Now i have also downloaded Intel Video Driver Version: 7.14.10.1283. Which is actually works on this machine. I can now choose from many different resolution in display settings, and the stand by option available, and picture itself is clear. But there is a huge problem. The screen is too dark. What is the issue?

It is not a hardware problem, monitor is ok. Once I uninstall the driver it is bright as usual. Adjusting the brightness with FN combination has no affect. I tried also installing older versions of this driver but same issue. It is still dark. The only way to adjust brightness is in driver utility itself, but that is not doing what it supposed to do.

Please help. I need you help.

Thanks you guys.

A:Windows XP video/graphic driver issue!

You have probably done all that can be done. If you can't find the correct driver, or the one you have is not adjustable, then you may have to deal with a dark screen, or remove it and deal with the reduced resolution. If Gateway had no drivers, it is because this model was never sold with XP and there was no need. No one is making many new drivers for an operating system that is almost 10-years-old and been replaced by 2 generations of new operating systems.

It is surprising when XP even supports some new hardware since its kernel was designed before this new hardware even existed.

I am running windows Vista. I have just reformated and then I literally started getting graphic card errors *Note was working perfectly fine before hand!!!!*, so I don't think it's the graphics card. After installing Vista *At this time I am running on onboard graphics*, I installed the installation disc that came with the card, and then the most recent drivers. But when I restart to ocmplete driver installation, I get BIOS beeps *2 short, 1 long* which indicates a video error *can someone give me more information on this*. Since it didn't work I decided to reformat again this time installing a later version of the graphic drivers 186, *which I know are stable from when I know I used before I reformated*, and still no luck. The thing again, which I must emphasize, is it was working 100% *no troubles at all* before I reformatted which was yesterday, and my display is connected and coming from my graphics card. I go to device manager and I get error code 43 can someone also get me more in-depth information on this as well as the BIOS beeps.

Much appreciated, and I hope to god it isn't my graphics card

I uninstalled (I think...best i could at least) my ati drivers and installed the nvidia driver and my computer boots to the welcome screen, you hear the startup noise and then the computer restarts.

Anything I'm missing?

A:nvidia driver issue

First fill out your system spes in you user CP top of page. We need to know all your hardware. Second you have an Nvidia 6600gt and you mention removing all the ATI drivers What??? Which drivers did you install and I assume you did this before you restarted. First try and startup in safe mode. Then uninstall the display driver, Restart and let windows install the driver. You might be having resolution problems because you don't have your monitor driver installed , it would be listed under display in device mngr as PnP if this is correct. If so find and install the display driver if their is one. Can't help you with this, without knowing all your system specs.
Also the build # and 32 bit or 64 bit 7 version. Just need more information.

I reinstalled Windows XP today, installed my drivers, and now I am faced with a dilemma. Initially I downloaded my graphics driver for my Nvidia Geforce 7600gs off of the site, but upon restarting my computer I am faced with Safe Mode-esque visuals meaning that the driver didn't install correctly. The screen is choppy and the max resolution I can do is 1024 x (whatever goes here) when it should be 1440x900, the size of my monitor. Eventually I dug out the disk for my card and installed the driver from there. When I restarted my computer after that, everything was fine except my resolution was bigger than my monitor screen although the setting said 1440x900. What I'm saying is that I have to scroll to see the rest of the screen in addition to the monitor being blurry. I installed the Monitor driver to no avail, uninstalled my card drivers, reinstalled, etc.

Can anyone solve this issue?

Hi, Welcome to 8 forums.

Did you get any message like "Drivers have stopped working" while you were playing games or watching a video recently?

If yes, did you update the drivers over the old one? Follow this,

Roll back to old drivers and check if the issue still persist. Downclock the card a bit. Sometimes OC can cause drivers to crash.

Hey guys

in a bit of a pickle here, having installed my GPU drivers (8600GTS) about 2 months ago onto 7057, i used i believe 1.81 drivers (Cant remember exact number) for vista 64.

that lasted fine up untill about 2 weeks ago where my PC would randomly freeze and my screen would become filled with what appears to be text randomly mashed together vertically down the screen, requiring a manual reboot.

I then installed Nvidias latest drivers designed for Win7, and now the problem happens a lot more frequently than it did! Any help would be great

This sounds to me like the graphics card physically is going bad on you & not driver related at all.

Try running a 3DMark Vantage benchmark on it & see what happens.
If it happens during the bench testing or freezes or crashes this is more than likely the problem.

Also it could be overheating...
You can check the temps by installing EVGA Precision which is basically Rivatuner redone for EVGA.
Great for OCing you card as well.
Just create a free account with EVGA & you can download it.

Hey Guys, I just upgraded to Windows 10 earlier today while I was at work. When I got home I noticed that my video drivers would not work for Nvidia GeForce, and the GeForce Experiance would not show up on the desktop even though it was open.

It took me about a hour or so to figure it out, but I figured it out none the less.

When you go to install or update a new Nvidia GeForce Driver, don’t use the Experience window. Go to the "http://www.geforce.com/drivers" and select your Model Graphics Card and Select Windows 10 x32 bit or x64 bit OS. When it is finished downloading find your driver and right click and select  "Run As Administrators".

When you go through the process make sure you do a CLEAN INSTALL. I found that this works best because I tried to just do a normal install or upgrade and it continued to fail until I did a clean instillation.

I hope this helps guys.

I had to reinstall my drivers too but I was fine without doing the clean install.

When I install the driver off of my cd, I can get max resolution of 1900x1600 (or whatever it is, I know it is in the 1900's).

I installed the newest driver released this month and I lost that now. I can only have 4 different stages of resolution and when I used to have MANY. The highest it goes is 1280x1024. Any ideas?

I will try to download the beta if you think that will help. I'm confused why it would take a step back in resolution?

A:Latest Released Nvidia Driver Issue

There are several possibilities.

1. the cd had a newer driver, the web site is behind. Not usual, but I have seen it happen.

2. somehow a monitor other than the one you have got selected during the downloaded driver setup. I have done this one to myself in the past.

3. probably something I haven't thought of.

I have a big problem with my samsung rv720-s02nl notebook.
Since I have reinstalled windows 7 I was getting a lot of errors.
When clean install and all the drivers were updated I got random screen freezes. I had to press the power button until the system was powered down.
The message said Nvidia driver stopped responding and has recovered(dutch).
I tried to use the old drivers (straight from the samsung support site) but they also didn't help.

I tried this "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error in Windows 7 or Windows Vista but that didn't stop the problem, but it resolved the bsods(screen freezes) but i still get error messages about the nvidia driver has stoped working and didn't respond. And still sometimes the computer freezes.

Hopefully you can help me with this.
Sorry for my English, i'm Dutch.

I installed Blue screen viewer and it said the problems were caused by dxgkrnl.sys driver. I searched on google but I found no valuable solutions.

I have used the SF Diagnostic Tool, see my attachment.

Hey Guys,

I recently bought a Dell XPS L501x used. It had windows 8 installed although previously had Windows 7 64 bit on. I wasnt a big fan of windows 8 so clean installed windows 7 32 bit.

This is when my problems started. I am aware that Windows 64 bit can recognise higher amounts of RAM but my laptop only recognises 2.36Gb out of the 4.00Gb installed. I thought this may be due to the GPU as it has 1Gb dedicated. Before I go any further my specs are:

Intel i5 m460 running at 2.53 Ghz

4.00 GB RAM

500 GB HDD

Intel HD Graphics (integrated)

NVIDIA Geforce 420m

I went onto CANIRUNIT if you have heard of this before you basically enter a game you would like to run and it will tell you if you meet the minimum requrements or not. This recognised my Nvidia GPU as having 1.9Gb dedicated memory, how could this be?

my second problem is when gaming, I know laptops arent made for gaming but this laptop handles them VERY well. When Idle the NVIDIA GPU runs at 45-50 degrees. However when under load playing a game like Guild Wars it runs at 65-70 degrees but when running a game like minecraft it runs at a high 70-75 degrees, are these normal temperatures for the GPU to be at when gaming?

Also When I run the NVIDIA auto driver update it says that I dont currently have a driver installed, this cannot be since I recently just updated it and it works fine.

Any Help/ Suggestions are much appreciated and if you would like any more information on my laptop sp... Read more

Hi all: Yoga 710-15ISK here. Had no issues running and updating both the Nvidia GPU and the integrated Intel card until recently when Nvidia required me to install the newest version of the GeForce Experience. GE failed to install and drivers downloaded directly from the Nvidia site are failing to install as well. Any ideas/tips on how to get the newest Nvidia drivers/GeForce Experience installed? Thanks

Hello, after I upgraded to windows 10 my graphics card drivers stopped working. I tried upgrading to the latest driver, but now I'm getting a code 43 when I examine the graphics card through the device manager. How can I get my graphics card to be recognized properly by windows?

A:Windows 10 Driver issue with Nvidia GeForce GTX 570

Download and install DDU from here and run the program:

Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 15.4.0.0

Allow it to remove all of the Nvidia drivers then once back in normal mode, use GeForce Experience to reinstall the drivers.

So I just recently put a new HDD in my brothers computer which has now caused it to start giving a black screen with a white line across it on startup after the windows logo.

It was fine before this and the only way I have found to solve this is to boot into safe mode and uninstall the video card drivers.

The drive was previously run in RAID on my machine and formatted afterwards, so I dont see why there would be any issues with with, nor the video card.

Alright, heres my setup: 1.8 ghz athlon 2200+ xp, 512 MB pc3200 ram, geforce 4 4600, a monitor refreshing at 60 Hz, and winxp pro. Now, up until now, i have had NO problems running counter-strike (and other games) at 1152x864, runs smooth at 60 fps (i enabled vsync, otherwise the images suffer from tearing). I also had 4x antialiasing and 4x ansioptropic filtering enabled. Now, i WAS running on the 41.09 detonator drivers for a long time, and as i said ive had no problems.
I discovered new drivers were out, the 44.03 ones, most specifically designed to take advantage of the geforce FX's. However, nvidia drivers work for all cards from TNT2 until the most recent stuff. I wanted to get the drivers because i read of the 30% performance increase, etc. However, i now suffer from a MAJOR decrease in performance, and low framerates which i have never experienced. I also noticed lots of image tearing, and the lack of smoothness when object move. This began soon after i installed the new drivers, they may not be the problem, but im pretty sure they are.
I uninstalled the drivers, and installed the old ones again, however when i reinstalled, it told me there were previous drivers to uninstall, even though i did so already, so i just clicked yes to continue anyway. I rebooted, and CS ran fine. I rebooted again, and CS had the same probs as before. So i uninstalled everything, went into explorer, searched and deleted all the .dll files i could find relating to my card, and reinstall... Read more

A:Problem with geforce 4, possibly 44.03 nvidia driver issue

Do a clean install of the drivers. go into properties and uninstall the drivers for the geforce then boot into safe mode and ignore the new hardware thing or cancel it and install the new drivers then reboot see if that works. Just installed the new ones as well but havent tested them yet.

I own asus g551vw fy212t. I'm on nvidia driver 368.39. I own a Canon g7x & I compressed mp4 files to save space using handbrake. I tried installing QuickTime still no luck. This is unacceptable for $700 software shame on you sony!

I've had my HP Pavilion DV7 laptop for about four years and have never had an issue with blue screens until now. The first one occurred about a month ago, but after a restart everything seemed to be ok so I didn't worry about it. It happened again two days ago, and then again today.

I'm not sure what triggered them, they just happen randomly, even if the Nvidia chip isn't in use. The one that happened two days ago was while I was using Firefox, and today when I woke it up from sleep. I'm able to play games that use the chip, if that matters.

The chip is a Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 2GB. I believe the attached zip archive and BlueScreenView report have all the required information, but I will be happy to provide anything else that is needed to help diagnose the issue.
