X250 internal battery

Q: X250 internal battery

Hi I bought a 2nd hand x250 online and when i reaached home i noticed battery 1 was no available for use. I contacted the seller and he said that it did not come with one. So it just has an extended external battery that came with it. I am confused because i have another model when has one internal and i bought an external (extended) battery so i have two. I had no idea that some models do NOT have an internal battery. Can i buy one and fit an internal battery myself or are some models not compatible with an internal battery?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello! I have an x250 notebook.Capacity of my internal battery flows down. Some time i opened lenovo power manager and checked battery. Internal battery is full charged with 12,18V, but external battery is full charged with 12.68V.It is very strange for me. As i know there is no li-ion battery with <4.2V full charge.I recalibrated the battery, no changes.Ok, It is possible that one li-ion battery has lower voltage then other two ones. I checked the voltage - 4.07. 4.07, 4.05 it is great result!Batteries are not charged fully, so capacity is lower then it should be. I found battery FW update for some lenovo notebooks, but i didn't find it for x250.Can you help me?

Hello!  I am seeking the sage wisdom of veteran thinkpad owners for an upcoming purchase.  I am considering an x250 (i5, 256 ssd, 8gb, 1080P ips non touch, with nothing but a fresh install of Windows 10 pro 64 bit and MS office pro plus) to use for the next two years while I complete a degree(mostly paper writing, web browsing, netflix/youtube etc..nothing heavy). I prioritize a good keyboard, good battery life, light weight(under 3lbs), durability, and saving money if possible.  With that said, I can't deal with laggy performance and lackluster battery life. I "could" buy a new laptop, but am having a hard time justifying spending that much since my usage is so light.  My previous laptop was a macbook air and it served me well, but the keyboard never really impressed me. I sold it, bought a nice Chromebook(12.5 inch screen) and pocketed the change. I have not had a "real" computer for a few years now and it's time.  What say you? 1) Will the above spec x250 provide me with decent performance/battery life for the next two years?1a) What kind of battery life can I expect with this setup and a flush battery?  2) Any other recomendations? I really like the X1 carbon, but the price is tough to swallow with all the issues I am seeing. However, that larger screen sure would be nice on the eyes. 3) Though I would prefer to not get another macbook, with the rumored update to the macbook air right around the corner said to be arou... Hi, I just bought a X250 today. I received it with Windows 7 Pro, and the first thing I did was upgrade it to Windows 10. After an hour of use, I noticed that the battery was draining really fast. I clicked in the battery icon on the system tray and noticed that it says: Battery 1: This battery is not available for useBattery 2: 40% (or whatever) I opened Device Manager and I see two devices listed under the "batteries" section, both of them called "Battery with Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method" (translating from Spanish, which is my system language, so it might not be exactly like this). I guess this means that the system indeed detects that there are two batteries, so it looks like a software problem. I right clicked on both of them and selected "uninstall", and then went to action > look for hardware changes, so that should refresh the driver. After doing that, the "battery 1: this battery is not available" message still appears. I also noticed that there was a power manager application from Lenovo which is not compatible with Windows 10. After upgrading, Windows notified me that this app had been removed and I don't see a W10 equivalent on the support downloads section of the Lenovo website. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Pau

A:X250 Battery 1 "is not available for use"

I also tried unplugging the second battery (the removable one). Immediately after unplugging it, the computer shuts down. If I turn it on without the second battery and plugged into the wall outlet, the icon in the lower right corner (system tray) says "no battery found"; however, on device manager I still can see one battery appearing. If I click on "properties" in device manager, it says that the device is working correctly, and there is no sign of any error log or crash report inside the battery properties in device manager.  I tried updating the BIOS and resetting BIOS to defaults, and it makes no difference. I also tried running Ubuntu from a USB stick ("try" option) and it only detects the second battery, not the integrated one.  I guess it must be a hardware problem.

Hello. Is there any reason Battery #1 (Internal battery) lists as Not Present? I've just updated to the latest BIOS for this laptop. I have installed the Lenovo Power Manager v 6.68.8 and under that application it only lists the removable battery. I've also checked settings in the BIOS to see if it can be turned on and I did not see anything listed that would let me makes changes to the Internal battery. Before this laptop I used a Lenovo X240 laptop and on that laptop it would list both Internal and Removable batteries in the Lenovo Power Manager application.

Windows 10 only recognizes the X20 built-in battery, not the removable one
Only getting 2hrs 5min run time... vs what should be 20hrs+ if both batteries were working
Has anyone seen this problem?
Is there a fix coming from Microsoft or Lenovo?

Windows 10 ne reconnait pas d'autre batterie que l'interne sur ce x250.
Autonomie de 2h5 environ .... contre + de 20h si les 2 batteries fonctionnaient en duo.

Hi durieu,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

Can you please perform the below troubleshooting steps and confirm with the same.
1) Please confirm that you are using an original Lenovo battery.  It is possible that 3rd party battery firmware may be     different / incompatible.
2) Clear CMOS values - shut the system down, unplug AC and remove battery.  Press and hold power button                  several times for several seconds each time.   Then re-install battery and AC and restart and see if battery now             reports.
3) Uninstall / Reinstall the latest power manager version.
4) Check available BIOS updates or tips on support site for battery firmware updates.

Please find the support site link to get the latest drivers for your laptop.
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x25...

To get the drivers for your laptop, click on Drivers and software in the product support page and under the option component select the latest version of driver which you want to update with the help of drop down option.

Please let me know whether the above steps helped you.
Thank you, have a good day.

So i have a X250 with both internal and external batteries, i recentley upgraded the bios to version 1.27 and reinstalled my machine from scratch. This is when i noticed that it uses the internal battery first, and then immidiately powers off instead of using the external one. I haven't found anywhere in the bios that i can set the priority of the batteries but shouldn't it be the other way around by default?  Any help is greatly appreciated

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

Hi everyone, Title says it all, I know this topic of discharging internal battery first has been brought up a lot, and that the reason behind it is this: The T470s are designed to drain the battery with least wear first so as to degrade both batteries equally and prolong the laptop's overall battery life. However, as I'm using a new 61++ battery, clearly somethig is going wrong somewhere as the year old internal battery cannot be in better condition than the brand new external.https://gyazo.com/6c12f3f40514599d04d852a8589189ab Any ideas? Thanks!

After a round of Windows updates, I went to turn on my laptop and recieved the "Primary internal battery (601)" error.  After this screen, however, Windows would not load.  I have tried taking the battery out and 'draining the charge',  and starting up the computer plugged directly to AC with no battery.  Windows still does not load.  The start-up test in the diagnostics menu said the battery needed calibration, however when I go to run the battery test, it gets to "waiting for battery to charge" and exits out of the test without giving me any results at all.  Currently when turning on the computer I no longer get the "primary internal battery" error, it just goes directly to a black screen with blinking cursor.  Any help is appreciated, I'm completely at a loss here!

It will be somewhere on the motherboard. It's a flat round battery like those in a watch only larger. On some older PCs, the battery is soldered to the motherboard so you may need to take it to a shop to have it replaced if that's the case.

Hi, Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your notebooks main battery ( not the rtc cell on the system board ). If you're happy with running the machine on mains power full time, there's no issue with that and you can simply remove the battery. If you do want to replace the battery at some time, you can order a new one through HP Parts Store or ( and often less expensive ), just google the full Model No. of your dv7 series notebook including the term battery. Regards, DP-K

Okay, so I've been having a few programs with my computer...this including slowness, poor wifi connections, and odd performance of wacom tablets.

The problems with a tablet are described in more detail here--> http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/1...ml#post1658350

Recently, before I signed into windows, a message on a black screen popped up stating something about my internal battery needing to be replaced. I'm on an HP pavilion laptop // HP pavilion entertainment PC.

Could the problems I mentioned above be related to the battery? I desperately need to be able to use my tablets for my major in college, and are majorly concerned with how they've been acting poorly with my laptop...could just replacing the battery work?

Also, would the 'internal battery' still be the battery that is capable of being removed from the laptop? Or does a laptop of two batteries?

A:"Internal battery" notices..what problems could a low battery cause?

This is the CMOS battery it is talking about. It should be replaced asap. But this is not a do it yourself job in a laptop. Better have some expert deal with it.

It would help to know your laptop model. But I would say the "internal" is the CMOS or Real Time Clock battery. That is why I ask your model because it is unusual to see one of those die in less than 5 years. The model of the laptop would also allow us to show you how to replace the internal battery. It can be quite a job although the little battery (like a hearing aid battery) is very inexpensive usually.

The most common MB battery is a CR-2032 Lithium. Usually found at most Drug stores, WalMart, etc. Arround $2. That would be a cheap test to try first.

But also double check all your other power connections, but it could be the PSU failure , also.

I would guess the battery is somewhere between 2 and 3 years old maybe a little older. They are a consumable, replaceable item like tires or brakes on a car. Time to replace.

Hey Guys, i bought a Second-Hand Thinkpad T440, with 128GB SSD 8GB RAM and i5 vPro.It came with the extended battery (the fat one, that sticks out of the body. I think its 65+I have noticed that when i remove the battery, the laptop turns off. Shouldnt it have an internal battery? Is there a version of T440 that doesnt have this battery? If so, can i purchase one and install?

Hello and welcome,

Some models do not have an internal battery:

I can't say whether they can be added.  Hopefully others here can address that.

My original battery stopped being detected so I ordered a new battery and the new battery is getting the same message. The battery is internal so I can't just pop it out.
