Have fun playing a music video as desktop background

Q: Have fun playing a music video as desktop background

This is not a "must have", but it is a lot of fun. You can play a video as desktop background which is especially nice if it is a music video. For that you need VLC. If you do not have it yet, you can install it from e.g. here ( Download VLC Media Player 1.1.2 - FileHippo.com ). And here are the few easy steps:

1. Open VLC and go to Tools > Preferences
2. Click on the icon called Video on the left (3d icon from the top)
3. Change Output (which is set to Default) to say Directx Video Output
4. Click on the Save button (important)
5. Now select the video you like to play -> Media > Open File
6. Right click on the VLC window where the video plays and go to Video > Directx Wallpaper
7. Minimize the VLC window and enjoy your new desktop

If you want to get out of it, right click on the VLC icon in the taskbar and Close VLC. In case you later want to use VLC for "normal" operation, you have to reset the Output to Default and Save it.

Preferred Solution: Have fun playing a music video as desktop background

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:HELP! music is playing in the background but no music program is open!

Are you close to a radio station's transmitter site and antenna? That sounds like "RFI" (Radio Frequency Interference" getting into your speaker system.

When you get it, unplug the speakers from the PC but leave them powered on and the volume up and see if you still get it. If you do it's RFI and the speaker system is picking it up or it's coming through the AC power line to the speakers. If this just started I would suspect either a bad cable ground or just a dirty plug connection somewhere in the system.

Seems a bit silly, but (using the default xbox music app) I can't have music playing in the background. I want to be able to hear my music as I do other things (on the desktop in particular), but as soon as I switch to a different app, my music cuts off.

What gives? I'm pretty sure this is just me missing something - no way this would be built in. Or is there no way to get past the apps automatically suspending themselves? Shouldn't the music app start a background process? Searched, but couldn't find anything.

And having it playing but taking up a fifth of my screen is unacceptable: even my cell phone can keep things going in the background. Especially when hitting my volume button even shows a little media control. I can pause/skip a song, but not hear it?

I miss my Zune software.

A:Playing Music In The Background

I'm using the Slacker Radio App, it keeps playing if I leave Metro and go to my desktop. I'm listening to it now as I type this post in IE. I'm not suggesting you switch to Slacker Radio, I'm just pointing out that it's a metro app and it keeps playing in the background. I don't think your Xbox music app should quit like that. I don't use or even have that app installed so I can't be of much more help. I hope you get it working the way you want though.

Over the last several days I have had ads playing in the background with no software open. I downloaded a script blocker from firefox but that didnt work. I then did a system restore and afterwards the problem remained. Several months back I had a problem where all google search results would automatically forward to other pages. Then it magically disappeared. Not sure if they are related. Here are logs. thanks so much!

Hey, I was on the internet going about normal browsing activity, and I thought an ad on a browser page was open. So I couldn't find the tab. I was wondering what was going on, I even closed my browser and any programs sound might have been coming from. Instead I find a program in my Volume Mixer with "Name Not Available" and has stupid obnoxious music coming through it. I muted it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to try and steal my passwords or do other malicious things. I'm great with computers, and I've tried everything in my own ability to get rid of it, including virus scans and checking startup and processes and such.

I need help! Thanks so much!

I was hijacked by OnPay,Inc or something like that, telling me that I had critical hard drive errors and it kept producing a ton of pop-ups. My desktop icons disappeared and my program names under START as well. I ran 'unhide' and that brought back my programs. I then did a sys restore to a previous point and that seemed to take care of the bulk of the problem. However, subsequently I started having random advertising(audio only)playing at random times. Also, my Google does not 'preview' when typing my search string. It takes a long time after hitting enter for it to display results. Sometimes they don't even display and I have to click on the actual seach icon to the right.
Also, I can hear audio when I watch Youtube, etc, but on one of my web based programs that I use, the audio is silent--only the video can be seen.

I went back after that and, in SAFE MODE, I ran TDDSKiller and it found nothing. I also ran COMBOFIX(sorry, it was before I found and read this site), so I am attaching the results as well.

I then did a complete scan with Malwarebytes which found no infected files.

After all the above, I am still have the sound problems, search sluggishness, and random ads/music playing. Please advise--your assistance is VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I have ZeroAccess rootkit on my laptop. I have an HP and got my laptop a little over a year ago but I was never given a CD to help reformat my system. IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING CORPORATE/COMPANY OWNED COMPUTERS

Please do not request assistance for corporate/company owned computers. Many changes/deletions are made during the clean up process, some of which may involve uninstalling programs, deleting folders/files, changing settings and/or removing policies etc. As we have no way of knowing for sure if these are actually needed for company operations, malware issues in these cases should be handled by your own IT Departments in order to avoid any undesirable results.

Hi, Ive recently been having random music and ads playing in the background of my computer (for the past 3 days it has played a spiderman ad). I usually only get one a day, and it plays even when no programs are open. Nothing new seems to pop up in the task manager when the ad comes on, and it only lasts for about 30 seconds. I am very confused as to what this is, and I hope to get some help on the issue, thanks.

I am getting random radio style advertisements and short bursts of music playing through my PC (over everything else). This happens randomly and has woken me up at night the past couple of days. The last time this happened this morning I looked at the task manager and saw Media Dashboard V2. This pointed to a file called stdrt.exe locates in a Windows temp folder. Example:

C:\Windows\Temp\mrt2981.tmp\stdrt.exe

This morning I had 25 of these directories all starting with mrtXXXX.tmp... The earliest one was dated 5/12/2015 so this has been around on my system for awhile it appears. I attempted to use Old Timers tools to clean these up but every time I reboot my PC it seems to reappear. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi,

I have been having a really strange problem: if I listen really closely I can hear faint music coming out of my speakers / headphones connected to my speakers. It's sporadic and occasionally I can't hear it, but I usually can. I have absolutely no idea what's causing this; I scanned with the free version of Avira Antivir, Spybod S&D, and Superantispyware and I did find a couple of minor things, but after deleting them the music is still here (I'm also using Windows 7).

I have some kind of sound thing on here called AC97 Sound Configuration which was put on by the guy who rebuilt my computer. I have some kind of music playing in the background which if I put it on there, was done without my knowing. How do I get it off. Also, I just want Windows media or whatever is simple to listen to music if I want to. Please tell me how to rid my computer of this stuff.
Thank you,

A:Music will not stop playing in background on my computer

"AC97 Sound Configuration" is most likely the the audio chipset software.

As for the music, you will need to find what is playing the music. It could be a webpage, a media player, another application, or several other sources.

WMP (Windows Media Player) is part of the OS and should already be installed/useable on the PC.

I'm on XP btw. Everytime I search something in google, it takes about 6 seconds before the results actually show up. Then when I click a link, I get redirected, and then firefox prompts me to open/save a file that's just called "search". Also, I hear random music/audio go on, then when I go into the task manager, it's a random iexplore.exe process. Once I close it, the music stops, but it just randomly opens up for some reason. What do I do?

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully.First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding.Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one.If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem.Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me.Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.Stay with me. Music or radio stations start playing automatically. It appears to be the same stations and commercial over and over. When I disconnect Internet connection they play out and then stop. Task manager shows nothing running. This is using up 100% of system resources. I have McAfee installed, I have tried Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, spy bot, and Kaspersky with no luck in regular mode and safe mode.
I am by no means good with computers. I do fear that I have a virus/malware.
All help appreciated

Hi and welcome

By the talk I assume you mean the peoples voices. If that is so you may have the sound control panel configured incorrectly for stereo instead of 5.1.

We need a ton more info before we can help. what sound card, etc

Hi

I have vista 64bit and for some reason, when i play gta4, it will remove my desktop background! and then i have to manually set the background back on again.

Is there any reason it does this? and anything i can do to stop it?

Thanks!

A:Playing game removes my desktop background!

This reminds me the old days of XP. Had problems similar problems but never figured it out neither although I did re-install the game and it stopped but sooner or later appeared again. I never understood how the hell games interfered with desktop backgrounds?
GTA4 forums/troubleshooting guides don't have questions similar to yours?

Ok, let me get to the point, lately whenever I play a music file on my system or watch an online video, all I get is sluggish and choppy sound. I am running Vista Home Premium SP1. My specs are as follow :

AMD Athlon 64X2 TK-53 1.7Ghz
4GB DDR2 RAM
120GB Serial ATA Hard Drive

I've got all of the latest drivers
I ran various virus scans, yet no avail. I am running with all the latest OS updates. Now I am at my wits ends and baffled as to why suddenly it does this.

I also check my hard drive for errors using chkdsk yet it reports nothing bad.
However now that I think of it, I did update my BIOS last week I am running a PHOENIX AMD BIOS with version 3.13 Date : 08/22/2008.

Perhaps this caused some odd behavior ? But as far as I'm aware of, nothing else is wrong with my system.

My only problem is choppy audio while the hard disk drive is active. For example I could be copying a file while listening to music and all I hear is choppy audio. Unfortunately this is a pain in arse while playing games from the hard drive. All I get is choppy/sluggish audio.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am getting rather tired at the moment, don't mind my ****ty grammatical errors in this post. All I want to do is get my point across and hopefully get this problem fixed.
Thanks
Jordan
PS : If anyone would like to contact me further regarding this problem please don't hesitate to send me a Private Message or post in this topic.

A friends PC keeps crashing after a few hours of usage (watching movies, listening to music). I've been attempting to troubleshoot it but I'm not to sure about how to find the cause of the problem. Based on my google search, which led me here, it's caused by either RAM, HDD, Drivers or overheating. I unfortunately can't get the dump right now, but I did get the info from the event log.

The computer has rebooted from bugcheck. The bugcheck was 0x00000124 (0x000000..., 0xfffffa8003560038, 0x00000000b2000000, 0x000000001040080f).

Problem Event Name: Bluescreen
OS Version 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 256_1

Does this info narrow down the issue, or is it just generalizing the problem down to what's been stated before?

Brand new x1c6, with the price tag I'd expect something *perfect*, but I am  reasonable person and don't mind that one side doesn't close like the other side (small gap left side about 4 -7 mm) due to hinge position fudge up, besides, I don't want to go thru the painful process of waiting up to a month+ for a replacement for a device that I need now (hence paid for it now). But I do feel I won the silicon lottery with my device (after reading/skimming all the horror stories on x1carbons and x1extremes problems/qaulity controls - most important, know what to expect - do research before purchasing. To the point; When I hover or selct a folder in Windows Explorer that contains .mp3 files, the folder is automatically sent to the associated media player, Windows Media Player, and starts playing (without my consent/intention)! When I pause a playing video, it unpauses after  about 6 - 8 seconds! Ok, I restarted my computer from a fresh boot this morning and when I opened up iTunes to play a song, I clicked the play button. It then proceeds to keep the song on 0:00, no audio no nothing. No attempt to even start the song.

Thinking it was an iTunes error I tried to play something in WMP. It did the same thing....clicked play and the song stays on 0:00. Now I tried to play a video in WMP to see if that worked, and it played extremely slowly and laggy with no audio. VLC media player is doing the same thing.

Some background on my system, it doesn't lag. I have an i7920 and the hard drive the music and audio is stored on is extremely fast. I also tried moving the music to a different HD on my system and it does the same thing. Any help is appreciated. I am going to try a system restore.

A:Music/video not playing (Not an audio problem)

A system restore fixed it. Looks like a windows update was installed. Thats the only thing that could have done it. I haven't installed anything for over a week. If you know what might have done it specifically, let me know.

Hello there!
First I must say I'm not really sure if this is an actual hardware issue. I had my (Win 10) computer for approx. 1.5 year and I didn't have this problem until recently. When I play music I get this static noise glitches, in case of video the glitches of audio track and video track are in sync. It can range from barely noticeable glitch to around 1-2 second glitches (the ones after which you'd expect to get bluescreen, I never do).
While I could get use to this, the glitches make my computer almost unusable for VR gaming (Vive). As you can imagine it could be motion sickness inducing experience if the video jitters and skips frames every other second not following actual movements of your body. The issue seems to be more severe for VR than regular gaming. It also takes ages to load VR games for some reason (compared to regular games).

The reason why I think this might be hardware issue, more specifically issue with electricity wiring in my apartment is that the fridge situated in the same room as computer stopped working approx. month after I started to have the issue with my PC.

I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Hello! I am having a minor issue with my ThinkPad X1 carbon 6th gen (Type 20KH, 20KG.

Something keeps repeating the play command so that even when I pause the music or video I was viewing or listening to, it automatically unpauses every 10 seconds.

Once playing, it does not pause on its own. This happens no matter if the music/video player window is maximized or minimized to tray.

Thank you for your help!

I've installed the latest driver 4 my gfx card (integrated) , I've scanned with kaspersky, panda, avg, ad-aware and windows defender and I've cleaned up my registry and disk with Ccleaner.

I've got 223 MB RAM, which seems to get eaten up as fast as heck during start-up and afterwards, so I downloaded XP FreeRAM Pro or w/e. It got 4 stars on download.com and IMO it works well. Computer temps are within safe levels (40 -55c max) and it makes no distinct sounds when frozen. When it freezes, the screen stays still and sound turns off. Basic functions like turning on the CAPS lock light are working. I've got my PC tuned up for fast performance, no desktop BG, no window effects (it looks like windows 98) only 4 desktop icons (including the mystring thing). I only got ZoneAlarm firewall, AVG and FreeRam on my taskbar. Still slow, sometimes. I dunno what else to do.

I'm running on an AMD Duron, with VIA motherboard (with S3 Unichrome integrated gfx)
and VIA AC97 audio controller (which i haven't found an update for).

Any suggestions? Thx in advance.

Oh, and it freezes on low-end games. Pharaoh only needs 32 MB RAM and I can't run it w/o freezing it's maddening.
