Preferred Solution: Windows Script Host: Can not find script file ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey guys.

just finished formating my computer (using the built in windows 8 feature). once it was up and running i uninstalled all the built in stuff lenovo brings with the computer using revo uninstaller. in the procces i also removed all registry and files those programs left.. but now theres a probelm:

this pops up every once in a while. usually when i install something. note that this is just one messege out of two! the other one looks the same but reffers to a different file - Lenovo-25207.vbs which sits in the same folder.

any ideas?

Right click the .vbs file - open with notepad - check the second line for a file/folder reference - and then see whether that file/folder exists....

During usage this morning I had a Windows Script Host screen Pop up. This Host Notice says the following: Can not find script file "C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/Local Settings/Temp/.tt.tmp.vbs". At the same time I received a Spyware warning pop up and my desk top became a vivid microsoft blue. Of course shortly thereafter "file eating roaches" began to crawl all over my screen. I ran my norton anti-virus software and performed the manual fix called for. Upon rebooting the same cycle of pop ups occured. I noticed that the Deckard's system scanner identified ASPIMGR as a recently created service. *The Kaspersky program just completed a section and identified 5 Trojan infections. Another section had 1 virus and 38 infected objects. This is getting worse and worse it seems. Between the two Deckard's system logs and the Kaspersky logs I ran $$$ across the page width of the post to make it easier to find. I have Win XP Professional installed in E: drive (in fact my PC has mulit OS, the other is Win2k3 installed in C: drive). Also my system has CA Anti Virus, Anti Spyware and firewall installed while in XP.
Scanned the entire system with the above software for Virus and spyware and based on the results removed the 1 spyware found.

Please let me know what this pop up means and what am I supposed to do to remove it.

A:can not find script file "E:\Windows\UjBright_Antivirus.vbs"

Its not unusual to receive such an error after using specialized fix tools.A "Cannot find...", "Could not run...", "Error loading... or "specific module could not be found" message is usually related to malware that was set to run at startup but has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. To resolve this, download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click here if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.

hi!

how do i remove "cannot find script file C:/WINDOWS/jargon.vbs" which appears each time I boot.

thanks!

A:cannot find script file C:/WINDOWS/jargon.vbs

That .vbs file is malware and related to a flash drive infection.A flash drive (usb, pen, thumb, jump) infection usually involve malware that modifies/loads an autorun.inf (text-based configuration) file into the root folder of all drives (internal, external, removable) along with a malicious executable. When removable media such as a CD/DVD is inserted (mounted), autorun looks for autorun.inf and automatically executes the malicious file to run silently on your computer. For flash drives and other USB storage, autorun.ini uses the Windows Explorer's right-click context menu so that the standard "Open" or "Explore" command starts the file. Malware modifies the context menu (adds a new default command) and redirects to executing the malicious file if the "Open" command is used or double-clicking on the drive icon. When a flash drive becomes infected, the Trojan will infect a system when the removable media is inserted if autorun has not been disabled. Keep in mind that autorun.inf can also be a legitimate file which other legitimate programs depend on so the presence of that file may not always be an indication of infection. To learn more about this risk, please read:When is AUTORUN.INF really an AUTORUN.INF?Nick Brown's blog: Memory stick wormsUSB-Based Malware AttacksDanger USB! Is Kaspersky working or not working? If you are getting a VB Script error, either something was removed in error, or you have the OS locked down too tightly with the A/V software.

This is not really a reply but I can't figure out how to start a new thread so this is what's happening to my computer, (its a custom built ,AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core 3.60GHz, gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P, win 8.1 pro, 64 bit AVG internet security 2015, internet explorer 11) I had installed win 10 and my machine kept freezing so I uninstalled it and now I'm getting the following:
Windows Script Host:
Can not find script file "C:\ProgramData\{DF7337B0-8FF1-E636-3E77-96B4EEF5453A}\1.9.3.1\fiber.js."
I have tried a program called Reimage to fix this but it didn't, so now I have not a clue what to do. I understand how to build a computer but not all the software and error messages. I don't want to have to do a clean format unless its the last resort as I have a lot of stuff I don't want to lose, also my computer is not setting auto restore points either.

A:Cannot find script file

First thing I would try is an MBAM scan. The free version has the same scanner as the Pro.

Hello,

I'm writing some scripts in WSH and VBScript however I wanted to program an interface to go with them. I have Visual Studio 2008 and created a form and made all the buttons and programmed a lot of functions in VB. Now it has come to do the stuff that requires WSH and it would appear VB cannot do this, just VBScript..

Is there anyway of integrating VBScript with VB, or is ther anyway of programming interfaces in VBScript or are there any ways of programming WSH using VB.

Any help appreciated.

A:Windows Script host

One of the simpler thoughts is to run the script using
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.visualbasic.interaction.shell(VS.80).aspx
see the example where they launch notepad.
You will need to use cscript (wscript?) on the command line invoke the script.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/xazzc41b(VS.85).aspx
It's tough to say more w/o knowing what you are doing though. My guess is that it can be done in vb rather than using a script.

This link might give a better overview of how to command line run a script using cscript or wscript

Making it much, much more difficult to remove).

Hi,
About a week ago i started having this error:

(The only thing that isn't understandable in this picture is the error because it is in french, so here is the translation for it : " Error:The system cannot locate the resource specified.")

It started to get really annoying as it pops up everytime i start up my pc, so i googled the error this morning, i found out that those vbe files in that directory are scripts that create a trojan in your computer.I navigated to the directory but i couldn't find the file "45A7AA.vbe".

I have format my PC , some hours ago but i'm really concerned about my data.
I think that the script was never executed because the file is not in that directory, but i really would like to know if it was executed to know if the hacker has had access to my info.

Thanks.

First of all let me state here that I am computer illiterate but still need help in simple language! Upon starting up my computer I receive this message: Can not find script file "C:\VT-SecureTools\CheckNews.vbs". I have looked this up on the internet and some sites say that it is a trojan. If so how can I get rid of it????? I desperately need help and believe me it will be greatly appreciated!

A:Can not find script file "C:\VT-SecureTools\CheckNews.vbs"

Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes and get it up to date, then do a scan.  After it runs, check the box for it to quarantine all the things it found.  If that doesn't fix it, boot to Safe Mode and do a full system scan with your antivirus.

By the way, it would be helpful if you'd supply the make and model of your computer and the version of Windows you have.

Good luck.

Hi guys,

so I have an annoying problem. Every time I start the computer, this popup comes up.

"Can not find script file "C:\DOCUME~1\Aya\LOCALS~1\Temp\sysdrivers.js"

Yes, that's with an s. sysdrivers. I tried googling it. I got like 3 results that didn't help. sysdriver comes up with a lot, but that's different. It's very annoying; do you guys have any clue what it's for?
I'm thinking something that happened a few days ago has to do with this... I don't remember when the popup started coming out...

A few days ago, when I logged in, my whole screen was weird. All the graphics were turned to minimal. I figured out that or some reason, steadystate was corrupted or something, I couldn't start it. My internet was off, most of my programs wouldn't run, it was as if steadystate had turned my computer to minimal capabilities.

So, I went into safe mode and was able to delete all the files associated with it from registry and searching for files. Maybe that's where I did something? I don't know. I discovered all my services were turned off. That's why the graphics were down and stuff. So I turned them on one by one, some needed other services to turn on so I went back and I turned on everything I could except the ones I knew I didn't need.

Do you think I did something? And is there a different program that can do what steadystate did? It was for my sister's account that is on the same laptop, I... Read more

Hello all, and thanks in advance for the help.

Here's the back story:

I use COMODO free version for my firewall and haven't had any problems. A few weeks ago I got a notification letting me know updates were available (program, not database). I allowed the system to update and walked off. I came back a while later (2 hrs+) and found it hung on the installation (at around 83% IIRC). I ended up having to force the machine off and do a cold boot.

When it came up I was getting all sorts of errors and couldn't get windows to work right. I started in safe mode and, using RevoUninstaller, was able to get COMODO off my machine and everything worked fine. I re-downloaded COMODO, installed it and didn't have any problems. I used Revo again to remove the browser and GeekBuddy that they force on your machine.

After several days of total frustration and attempting to find an answer from my software's technical support, I thought I would see if anybody here could help me out with this mystery. I am trying to update to a new version of my antispyware, but apparently, in order to do so, it has to run some kind of script. The new version attempts to install via Windows Installer, gets to a certain point, then an error message comes up that says, ""Windows Script Host Access is disabled on this machine - Contact your administrator for details." Personally, I still can't understand the necessity of having an "administrator" on a ONE-USER HOME COMPUTER... Seems totally ridiculous and ultimately frustrating. Anyway, I asked the administrator (hey, that's ME!) and he didn't have a clue what the stupid thing was talking about. I have corresponded back and forth with the support staff and they have me running around in circles trying different things that I knew wouldn't work in the first place. However, in every email I keep asking the same question that nobody will give me a straightforward answer to: WHY is my Windows Script Host disabled and WHAT would cause it to become that way?

I have tried every trick I know. I have gone into Internet Options and temporarily changed all the I.E. settings to allow scripts, etc. I have Analog-X Script Defender installed, but set it not to intercept scripts while I was trying to install the software. I download... Read more

Please help! Thanks in advance.

A:Windows Script Host warning

take note of the location and file name of the script file and verify if it’s a malware or a trusted program has added or using the script. Was the corruption a result of malware and was there a malware scan performed?

Some malware authors are taking advantage of WSH because it can be used to automate their malicious software. Antivirus and antispyware software vendors are aware of the security concerns on these files which is why it’s recommended to configure the antivirus software to scan all file types in Windows, and in real-time. Note that some security researchers or vendors recommend that you disable WSH in Windows as a preventive measure to protect from viruses that uses WSH. However, most antivirus programs have the ability to detect malicious scripts in a webpage or a file on a computer so it is not a requirement to disable or remove WSH.
