I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am guessing that something quite wrong was done in 2.20 (and it persists into 2.21). There was no such errant behavior with 2.19, as I've confirmed by reinstalling 2.19.  Works perfectly and boots promptly and the BIOS Setup utility works lickity-split with 2.19, just like it always has.  But with the install of 2.20 the behavior changed drastically.
Looking at the README for BIOS 2.20 this definitely seems like the culprit:
[Problem fixes]- Fixed an issue where fan might rotated with max speed due to not reading CPU   temperature correctly.- Fixed an issue where system might not boot to OS when attached an external monitor   and its USB3 devices.- Fixed an issue where network boot might happened at reboot after resume from suspend   by Wake On LAN.
At first I thought I had blown the BIOS update, since my screen was simply black for what seemed like 1-2 minutes after displaying the Lenovo logo and "press ENTER to interrupt" message.  I pressed ENTER repeatedly but nothing happened, for a long time.  Eventually, the hard drive activity LED on the P70 started flashing, and seemingly almost 2 minutes later, the machine came to life and boot process continued normally.
Then, once I entered the BIOS, I used the right-arrow key to navigate through the tabs.  No problem until I got to the Security tab and then pressed right-arrow one more time to navigate into the Boot tab... and it hung!  Didn't go ri... Read more

This is my first post here, so hi to everyone.
I just got an ASUS X401a Notebook and I want to use a flash drive to boot from Linux.
I need to change the sequence in the BIOS so that the flash drive is first choice to boot from.
I have no problem accessing the BIOS utility, but it allows me to alter only some settings. Those in blue colored font I can change those in black font I cannot. What drive to boot from first is in black and not adjustable.
I used command line to work as admin and I also set up a password for admin in the BIOS to access the BIOS utility, but still no go; some things are allowed to be changed some aren't.

Any help is appreciated.

I need to enter bios, not the "HP setup utility", because in the utility there are no settings for SATA controller. I need to change it to IDE, but in the utility there is no option for that. How do i do it?

A:I need BIOS, not HP Setup Utility

Hi: Why do you need to change the setting to IDE? A BIOS update won't add that feature anyway. If you are trying to reinstall XP and get the blue screen stop error, simply add the SATA AHCI drivers. See this guide below.  Read the Intel section and then read the downloadable document for how to slipstream all of the sata drivers. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/SATA-drivers-for-XP-solution-on-... I have zipped up and attached the drivers you need to slipstream below...

Hello guys.

I saw several of threads saying that, updating your BIOS in the Asus P8Z68-V PRO, would stabilize your system and have better effectivity and such things.

If you direct to this page (Link), and scroll down a little, choose Windows 7 64-bit (as it's my system), and click + on the BIOS utility.

Would it be the best idea? Is there any danger in doing it?

Best Regards,

A:Updating BIOS. With utility?

Stability has a lot to do with how your settings are. No BIOS update can stabilize your system if
it's being pushed to it's limits.

A BIOS update addresses certain issues and you should only update your BIOS,
if it addresses those issues.

With all that being said, having used an ASUS board, I would recommend ASUS Easy Flash 2.
Get a USB thumb drive and follow the ASUS instructions for updating the BIOS using Easy Flash 2, if you "must update".

I am trying to update the BIOS on my GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard. Going to the Gigabyte site, i downloaded the recommended @BIOS update utility. Since the internet does not have the necessary BIOS for my MB, I downloaded the identified BIOS and then tried to use the utility. I then got this error "Can not load ROM image from BIN file. Maybe BIN file size not match."

Not sure what to do now. Can anyone assist?

Here is the page for the @BIOS system.

A:Can't get @BIOS utility to work

First of all, why do you want to update the bios?
Next, your board uses Q-Flash; this is much more reliable than the windows based bios flash. I always recommend using qflash to flash the bios of a gigabyte board [when a bios update is required]

I downloaded the latest BIOS (Version:F.64 Rev.A ) update and ran the utility on windows 10. The machine's power was interrupted during startup . Ever since I have a blank screen with the capslock light flashing and the fan running heavily. The HP recovery partitions have all been wiped since it is a new install of windows. None of this would be a huge ordeal except that the hp recovery utility as described at this website http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 does not load so I cannot create a USB device. Furthermore after redownloading the BIOS update and attempting to run the .exe directly it says the ROM.CAB is missing or corrupt. 1) Where is there a good version of the BIOS I need? I would be fine with an old version as long as the computer boots. 2) If BIOS is shot does this motherboard allow me to replace the BIOS chip? Thank you for your help in advance.

I am working on a Toshiba Satellite with Insyde H2O bios. It says to use F2 for setup and F12 for boot manager.

I've tried all the function keys, as well as esc and del and they only get me to Windows Boot Manager. (This includes F2.)

The machine has Vista that stops loading when it gets to the network drivers. Could a corrupt BIOS be the cause? If I download a new BIOS can I install it from the command prompt?

If the BIOS is still OK are there other ways to get into setup?

(Meanwhile F2 works just fine on my Dell Lattitude)

I support an environment with a range of HP desktops from G1 & 8300 and earlier 8000, 7900 & 7800 models. I am looking to use the config utility to set a BIOS password. Having downloaded v4.0.18.1 I have managed to setup what I want on the G1 and 8300 models which works fine, but the same command fails to run on the 8000 and 7800 models (not tested on 7900).On the 8000 the command  fails and log file suggests it doesn't like the encrypted pwd file.On the same device I have tried v2.60.13 of the utility, but this didn't appear to do anything - didn't change, report or delete pwd. All devices have Win7 32 bit, and updates will ultimately be deployed via SCCM 2012 Can anyone advise what version of the utility will/should work with the 8000 and earlier model desktops? Thanks

This happened suddenly. Whenever I boot / start my windows xp system I am getting the following message:
“Reboot and select proper Boot device Or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key”
The system does not recognize the existence of my c drive. When I press "Del" key on boot-up it bring the BIOS set-up Utility. Where Primary IDE Master : (Not detected)
Type: Not installed
Device: Not detected
When I go to Boot up order: and change in this order, Harddrive, CD Rom and A Drive and then press F10 to save and exit.
Even after that the BIOS - Main: Primary IDE Master is showing as not detected

When I insert the Start-up floppy disk, it brings up A:>
but when I change C:\ - it does not go to c drive and shows as " invalid drive specification"
System shows ONLY "A" drive.

Assuming that my SATA - ATA hard drive would have damaged, I replaced it with a new WD ATA drive.
Even after replacing the new hard-drive, still I am getting the same error message, “Reboot and select proper Boot device Or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key”

Please let me know what I should do to bring back my C drive into BIOS set-up utility

Hi, We have a script using the HP BiOS Utility to change the vtx setting but we are currently experiencing problems. This script has been developped by a 3rd party and its been succesfully tested on multiple HP Models. In our environment, we are using the following HP workstations:HP Compaq 8100 Elite SFFHP Compaq 8200 Elite SFFHP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF By default, our BIOS doesn't have any password, the script will run the HP BIOS Utility with admin privilege, add a temporary password, enable the Vtx setting and remove the password. On the next reboot, we will run our software that needs vtx enable but the program will not see  that vtx is enable. If we enter the BIOS manually,  the Vtx setting will be enable, the only way that the software will recognize that vtx is enable is if we do another change to the BIOS and save that change.  It seems like Windows is not seeing the change that the BIOS utility did.  The intriging part is that on some machines, the script will work and the software will see the change. We have run the script numerous times, on multiple machines and on our different models but we can determine any patern and identify why it sometimes work. I was wondering if this is a known issue and if anyone already encoutered this. Thank you,

I am unable to use the BCU to read or set the BIOS for a particular operating system image.  This is not hardware dependent, but is instead consistent under a particular software setup; if I reimage the computer with a different image, I am able to work with the BCU without issue. The image in question is not running antivirus, and is a reasonably "vanilla" Win7x86 build.  When I run: biosconfigutility /get I see the following: <BIOSCONFIG Version="" Computername="ZT-ACC1004E8E63" Date="2014/11/18" T

A:Can't find HP system BIOS update utility for

Hi @zavorfang Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for your post.   Personally, I do not recommend you update the BIOS unless you experience some issues with your existing BIOS and you are sure that the new BIOS will fix it. General recommendation I provide to users/customers is NOT to upgrade BIOS/UEFI unless they experience any kind of specific BIOS/UEFI issue. Updating just for updaing and just for using the latest verson is not solution. Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong. Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.  With regards to the specific question and if you do insist on updating the BIOS and if you really need to do it, please follow these instructions in the official article >>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629Follow the method "when Windows does not start" >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629#AbT1 The particular file that you show a video of can be downloaded (product specific) from HP servers/web site >> http://sup... Computer's running Windows 7. Here's the story:

Shared lab laptop, last person to use it used it about a month ago and closed the laptop probably assuming it would go into hibernation mode.
I come in today to find it still on and an 'Installing Windows Updates - Do Not Turn Off Computer' screen. It was on update 2 out of 15 or something, so I touched nothing and figured I'd see if it could finish it.
Computer shuts itself down before the updates reach 15/15 and reboots itself. Blue screen shows up saying that Windows could not start the operating system and to reboot, and gives some other options for if the problem occurs again which I don't read because I figure the reboot is the better option to try. So I hit enter on the 'reboot' prompt.
Computer shuts itself down, reboots. Prompt comes up saying it couldn't reboot and prompts for either a system restore or reformatting the hard drive, so I go for system restore.
Try the most recent restore point (6/15) and it says that it failed so choose another one. Try the second most recent and it says that that failed as well, but then proceeds to the Windows startup screen anyway.
I enter the password and I'm in and working on it for about 5 minutes without any apparent issue when InsydeFlash BIOS Flash Utility pops up. The computer seems otherwise perfectly functional but I'm guessing if/when it gets shut down it will blue screen again.

The workstations are new, they have a factory settings, they don't have BIOS password. I lunch cmd as administrator. My config file:BIOSConfig 1.0;; Originally created by BIOS Configuration Utility; Version:; Date="2016/11/02" Time="16:52:13" UTC="3";; Found 81 settings;UEFI Boot SourcesUSB Floppy/CD DisabledUSB Hard Drive DisabledLegacy Boot SourcesUSB Floppy/CD DisabledHard DriveNetwork Controller (Realtek PXE B01 D00)Mini Card Slot*DisableEnableFast Boot*EnableDisablePower on from USB Kbd portDisable*Enable My log: 2016/11/02 18:57:58.615834 | 3092|Setting|HP:hared:treamLog:treamLog| Log Severity Level >= Info2016/11/02 18:57:58.615834 | 3092|Info |HP:hared:treamLog:treamLog| Begin.2016/11/02 18:57:58.615834 | 3092|Info |BiosConfigUtility::InitInstance| *****************************************************2016/11/02 18:57:58.615834 | 3092|Info |BiosConfigUtility::InitInstance| ** HP Bios Configuration Utility v. **2016/11/02 18:57:58.615834 | 3092|Info |BiosConfigUtility::InitInstance| *****************************************************2016/11/02 18:57:59.8... Recently my organisation deployed ~500 X360 G2 devices which unfortunately have the bright F5 key issue.  This can be resolved by changing the bios setting on each device, however I am looking for a way to deploy this setting over the network to all devices.  I have attempted to use the HP Bios Configuration Utility, however it does not appear to support this setting.  Is there any other way I could deploy this setting?

it was all okay back then i was working with my document on ms office then i had it on sleep the next day when i opened it it was still okay then i decided to shut down my system then run off to work when i got back and turned on this laptop it just won't get passed the bios setup its like this

Open system->asus rog plays with the logo-> then it will enter the bios set up ->when i exit it it will reboot and the process repeats .

What I tried so far
-Made a bootable USB installer of windows 8 and tried to configure the bios to boot from there, nothing it just wont get past that setup utility so its a no go
-tried the bios recovery by pressing CTRL+Home button then powered it up and it restored the bios successfully - nothing happened to the issue
-tried flashing bios to latest version of bios via usb and ez flash nothing happened
-Tried resetting to manufacture defaults of bios nothing
-Tried pressing ctrl while its booting up windows error recovery pops up got two options
start windows normally or startup recovery
when i press start windows... logo appears then it will restart and go get stuck at the bios utility again
if i press recover still the same
* yes hard drive is still detected and no problems so far

As mentioned in the subject, Lenovo update utility suggested a BIOS update.  The update seemed to go fine but when finished the computer would not boot.  It cannot find media.  There are some blue blurbs and retries but ultimately the computer no longer has a bios.

Hi all, I'm currently looking into getting bitlocker enabled on our company devices - I need to enable the TPM chips and ideally I want to do that without going through every system and changing it manually. I've looked at the config utility Lenovo offer and the E560 isn't in the supported list, and when running WMI scripts, no output is obtained. Does anyone know a way this might be possible as it's going to be very time consuming changing this manually for everyone! Thanks in advance.
