Case window mod idea!

Q: Case window mod idea!

Hi all, I've cut a window in my pc.

I have decided that i want to put the TS logo on my window.

Julio, if you should see this, do i need permission from you?

I have 2 different ideas so far. 1 to paint the logo with a uv reacting paint as i have 4 uv tubes inside my case. 2 to cut the TS logo out of another piece of clear acrylic and stick the letters onto the inside of the window and light them with led's.

Just wondered if anyone had anything to add or any better ideas?

Preferred Solution: Case window mod idea!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm a new member of this community and need a little help.

About a week ago I got a virus are some spyware on my computer and foolishly downloaded and installed Stopzilla. I found out about mid-week that stopzilla itself malware and since have been battling it trying to remove it from my computer. I've gotten a good portion of it [I think] using Hijack this, AVG and my other anti-malware programs that I trust and had on my computer before the incident.
A number of is3 and SZ dll.s were deleted and I lost Internet connection for about a 15 to 16 hours and finally got it back up finding and deleting a certain is3 dll.
However, it seems that it was at a loss.
Half of the games that I played and ran very well [BF2 and Cod4] are now unplayable and I cannot access the Steam Network any longer. This is not videocard issue because games like Company of Heroes and World of Warcraft are running perfectly.
I'm running out of options and will be reinstalling XP somewhere in this or the coming week.A Stopzilla service is still running, only find one function with Hijack this that keeps coming back every time I delete it.

I'm wondering if DSRM could somehow restore my PC back to the way it was before this all happened.

Please tell me if this is a bad idea.

Hi. As you can tell from my signature, I own a Windows XP Professional PC (very nice machine). Well, if any of you know me well enough, you know that I am very cautious about my machine and take just about all measures possible that are within my financial reach to protect my machine. Well, it just came to mind that a boot disk for my computer is definitely within my financial reach but I do not know the specifics about boot disks. Should I make one just in case something were to happen to my computer? What good is a boot disk anyway? Also, does it matter if I use a CD-R or a floppy for the boot disk? I really just need basic information for now and then when I know more, I'll ask more questions. Thanks in advance!

Hi Guys,

My computer's case/tower doesn't have an more cages for a new HDD, so I was thinking of this solution. I take one of those DIY HDD Enclosures for 3.5 Sata HDDs, but basically just leave it without the connectors and backpanel (where the SATA and power are converted to USB and AC inputs/outputs).

I then just plugin the SATA and DC Power from the PSU directly and secure the enclosure to the bottom of my case using some adhesive.

Would this be a good idea? I don't like having an external drive, and using a USB 2.0 is a bit slower than using SATA direct. Let's not even talk about the convenience of having one less AC Adapter to think about.

Would this be a viable option? I got the idea from one of my friends who just tapes his SDD to the inside of his case. Given that mine is NOT an SDD, I thought it would need a cage/enclosure to keep it stable.

Any Feedback?

A:Using DIY HDD Enclosure w/o AC/USB inside Case as extra cage.. good idea?

Check the drive cage that is already in the computer.
You may be able to temporarily remove the drive that is in there
and flip your a other drive over and mount it to the bottom of the cage.
Then reinstall the first drive.
Drives usually have mounting holes on the side and the bottom

Hello to all.

Now where do I start? First off I run XP pro. Hope I don't sound too hopeless!

Anyway this relates to a problem I had and Cheeseball helped me get rid of. What I had was a programme called
umyuafg.exe that had installed itself and was trying to constantly dial out, this I picked up through Zonealarm, it was also on my startup list and kept coming back, through a combination of Ewido and Killbox we got rid of it. BUT here the thing, since that time everytime the computer starts a box pops up on the desktop, now I think it is a DOS box?? (Don't know ANYTHING about DOS), what it is is a black box (window) that along the top has a little c in a square followed by C:/windows/system32/umyuafg.exe, it is blank except for a blinking cursor, that within seconds disappears.

Theres nothing in the startup list, I come up clean for any spyware through adaware, ewido, spybot. It is more of a strange nuisuance than anything.

Any ideas? Thanks!

A strange window appears, (most times, but not necessarily always) whenever I boot my PC up.You can view a picture of the window at the following URL:http://tinyurl.com/d9ydoThis window appears after Microsofts welcome splash screen but BEFORE the logon screen. The logon screen appears, if I (as the administrator) set up another account, say, for a guest. But most of the time I am the only user and hence there is no logon screen as I turn off the guest account. The ONLY way I can get rid of this window is to click the OK button that appears in the window.Once I do click OK, the window goes away and the desktop with my icons appears and all is well!In some of the forums I have posted about this problem, I was told that it could be an empty LegalNoticeCaption window. However, deleting these string values in the Registry did not help solve the problem. Taking a look at Start Up did not reveal anything unusual either.I have MS' antispyware beta, Spybot S&D, Adaware SE professional and Nod32 antivirus loaded on my Intel P4, 3.4gHz, 1 Gb Ram computer. The PC is uses Windows XP professional. But for this pesky window, the PC runs fine.Any help in resolving this is greatly appreciated. Thanks and regards

There are kits you can purchase, but it would require you doing the cutting. With the cheap case you already have, it would make more sense to purchase a new case from newegg with a window already in it. www.newegg.com Then just swap all the components.

Don't take this personally, but TigerDirect.

Hello and thanks for helping me. Basically when I get to desktop screen after boot up, a CMD window appears and then causes Mozilla firefox to open a window that redirects me to gameharbor.org. Also looked in the programs list to see if I could uninstall something but nothing looked suspicious. Any and all help would be much appreciated!

Dropbox + Sugarsync - running both at the same time - good idea or bad idea?
Will they both be thrashing my machine and eating up lots of CPU like a hungry monster?

A:Running Sugarsync + Dropbox at the same time - good idea or bad idea?

You can be specific about what each actually synchronizes so I don't see that as a CPU issue. However if using both over the Internet with one of the more substantial data plans to sync, I would wonder which gets priority or how well they share the upload bandwidth. Wouldn't be so good if one was always grabbing it to sync in the off-load times and the other just kept waiting and waiting for its turn.

I don't wanna just start cutting away with some tin snips, then hope I come out with something that looks good.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX270. When I press the power button, the power button light turns amber, I hear some fans spinning, and the CD drive spinning. However, it never gets to the boot screen (or any screen). If I open the case and press the power button, however, the power button turns green and the computer works fine (loads all the way up and functions like normal). If I close the case after it has started, it continues to run fine. I'm guessing / hoping it's not the mother board or power supply that has directly gone bad... but maybe there is a connection or something? that changes from when it's closed to when it's open. I've heard of something like... the motherboard is shorting out by touching the case... but I'm not really sure where to look for that / how. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have an Acer Aspire X1700 (Details
It's about 2 1/2 years old now. Came with Windows Vista, I upgraded it to Windows 7. Also has a newer video card than what came with it.

Anyway, The PSU fan is getting really obnoxious, it gets really loud (more or less like a lawn mower). I have taken the thing apart and have tried every suggestion given to quiet it down, which it does for a whole week or two. This is a small form factor PC, so to even take the power supply out you have to basically take out everything else just to get to it. I have looked for replacements but they are very obsolete. It's only 220W anyway, so i'd like something a little more powerful.

What I want to do is get a larger case that I can use the same hardware is (motherboard, drives, etc) and purchase a larger power supply for that case. 220W really limits the PC. The small case holds a lot of heat even with all fans cleaned and working properly. Even just taking a CD/DVD out that was in it is very hot. I want a case with better airflow than this one.
I really am not sure what kind of case to get that will meet my needs. I don't want anything really fancy. If possible I'd like to get it off newegg.com

Any suggestions would be great.

Now another question comes up regarding modifying the cooling of my case/ computer etc.

I was wanting to carve two 3 1/2" holes in the top of my case, for two 12cm fans. Now I know fully how to do this, however, I was wondering which direction the air flow should go. Should the fans blow into my case? (Like I suspect) Or should I have them blow out?

The orange highlights are the fans I wish to add. Which direction should I have the air flow setup?

A:Case airflow question before modifying case

I would have them sucking air out. Hot air rises, and the side panel fan will hit the VGA's mb, etc and spread out, also they are right next to the PSU. You wont have any really big difference either in or out , but I would have those two pulling the hot air that manages to make it to the top of the case out. and negative pressure tend to run a bit cooler overall.

I have determined to learn something about spam and spammers. My ISP catches quite a bit of it and Norton Catches a lot, but some still finds its way to the inbox. I have been moving quite a bit of it into a separate folder, without opening it. I intend to examine the headers, using file/properties, and record the originating ISP. In some cases I will also look at the content, using properties.

My incoming e-mail is scanned by Norton for viruses, but nothing is 100 per cent foolproof.

Am I being stupid and should I just delete all the spam, or am I being reasonably prudent?

I have two systems, an Optiplex 790 and another PC with a A68HM-Plus board and a A8-7690k. The power supply that came with that system (bit of a scrapyard wars build) is working fine now, computer is booted up as I type this. However, I'm having an issue with my Optiplex system that I've not had since I bought it over a year ago now. That system has had a CIT Active 550 watt PSU in for just over a year when I bought a graphics card for it and everything was running fine. I then bought the A8 system and wanted to swap the graphics cards, meaning I needed to swap to a different power supply as it did not have a 6pin connector on it. No problem, swapped PSU. The problem is that it is all very tempremental. The power supply has worked outside of the case, but is not working inside the case. Just to clarify, it is not always working outside of the case either. So I bought another PSU, a Corsair 500w PSU because I assumed the problem was with the PSU. This also has the same problem, where it occasionally works outside of the case, but never when it is installed in the Optiplex 790 case. I reseated the RAM and that got the system working with both the CIT and Corsair power supplies, but only outside of the case. Could something in the case be shorting out both power supplies when installed in the chassis?

I'm at a complete loss, if you have any other questions (which I'm sure you will as I've explained this terribly) please feel free to ask.

Thanks for all the help. I want to make my shorcuts start programs and windows (In WIndows Xp Pro SP3) at a certain position and with a certain size.

i couldnt think of how to describe it for the title easily and I am about to go home to maybe tomorrow I will work it out.

My Vista box is currently demonstrating curious behaviour. When I open IE7 I select a favorite and it opens a new window with that favorite in it. If I do a search with my default provider in the original window, the search results appear in a new tab in the second window.

The second window does not display this behaviour. It works normally with my standard settings - open favorites in the current tab.

Again, favorites chosen in the first window continue to appear in the second window. Search results too.

Running IE7 in safe mode stops this behaviour but I have not installed any new software and I have removed all my temporary internet files/addon settings etc.

Any ideas would be great. Funny old game eh
