how to disable arp requests in my network ?

Q: how to disable arp requests in my network ?

im having a problem with someone who is using a program named "netcut" that uses arp protocol to fool the gateway and other connected devices with a fake MAC addresses. this causes to disconnect the fooled devices from the network.

im thinking now of a solution for the problem. as far as i know that arp requests connot be blocked by firewall application. is there a way to block the arp and use only static arp entries instead of dynamic. i want a practical solution to this problem.
thank you

Preferred Solution: how to disable arp requests in my network ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My system system seems to randomly try to access my floppy drive for no apparent reason. It didn't do this when it was new. How to I disable it ?

A:How to Disable Floppy Requests

I found this maybe it'll help you

If you have a Windows PC, you will sometimes get into a situation where the computer randomly access the floppy disk drive every few minutes -- for no apparent reason! Typically, the harmless annoyance occurs because some program "thinks" it needs to read or write some data to a diskette.

In most cases, there may be a document in your recent history folder (Start >> Documents) that was once on a diskette. Here are the steps to clear the document history file Windows uses:

1. Click Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Taskbar
4. In the Documents area, click Clear
5. Click OK

Other causes of the problem:

* Microsoft Office's Find Fast utility may be running and trying to index your FDD. Remove it from the Startup group, or in Control Panel, look for Find Fast and disable it from starting. Find Fast installs automatically with Office and can be a resource hog as well!
* The System Agent may be running a task; if present, click the System Agent icon in your System Tray for further information.
* A virus scanner program may be trying to check the drive. Check the setup of your virus scanning software for further information. A diskette scan at startup or shut down may be normal, but a scan between these times is typically a user-controlled option.

Hi I havent posted here in quite some time.. I have a question regarding my home network..
According to Shields Up my computer is pretty much in Stealth Mode.. everything was good except it did respond to  ping requests.. should I disable this for added security,or does it really matter? I take great care to minimize the risk of malware and so forth and have good encryption on my network.. I really want to be as safe as humanly possible. Thanks in advance.

A:Should I Disable Ping Requests ?

Can you provide more details about your network setup?
Is it like the classic setup: computer - router/modem - Internet
Does your computer have a private IP address (like 192.168.*.*)?

I run two desktops both on Win 7 Pro, both using Office Outlook 2007 and both via the same Router.
All is fine except one of them, always the same one, will have a burst of constant requests for the Network Password. Goes quiet for an hour or so and then kicks off again.
The advice I got from the Microsoft Community was to leave the various boxes blank, that didn't work
Any ideas please??

This might help you, unless I'm reading the question incorrectly. Is the issue with Outlook, or the network as a whole (when browsing, etc.)?

I have a small home network consisting of the gateway from the ISP, and less than 15 wireless clients. I noticed the network slowed down alot, even when there was only 1 client connected. I downloaded wireshark and captured with only 1 pc connected via ethernet, disabled the wifi and disconnected the telephone line that feeds the gate way. Every few seconds, i see the gateway sending out arp requests to sequential ip addresses that dont even exist on the network. See the image and file below. Capture: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hBoD... Capture file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hf4I...
Im sure this is not normal behavior. There is alot of lag on the network at the moment its hard to get any work done. What could be causing this? Is it possible for the gate to be poisoned in this way? Any guidance provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

An update check on the graphics driver and software has not produce improvement. The redirects occur mainly on IE however, have been observed on FF as well. Also recently, before auto update of email on Outlook, a password request box opens and the email will n ot update without response. After hibernating my Thinkpad Yoga 260 in most cases the cellular network fails to connect and continously displays the status "Disconnected". I have enabled the option "Let Windows manage this connection". In this condition when I disable "Let Windows manage this connection" and hit the "Connect" button I get the message "Can't connect to this network to this network.  Enter an APN and try again.". I've entered a new APN according to instructions of my mobile network provider but the behavior did not change.  When I reboot my notebook the cellular network connects correctly. This behaviour is new since abut two weeks after Windows has updated to the fall creators version. Before that it was working perfectly.  Of course I've run Windows and Lenovo updates.Additionally I've installed the latest version  of "Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software for Windows 10 (64-bit)" 7.47.4743.0105. In Device Manger this also updated the version of "Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A" to 10.0.16299.192. I would appreciate very much if somebody has an idea how to solve this issue. Many thanks!

Hey everyone,

I would like to disable the SPI. Is it recommended to disable it. SPI is a firewall for a network layer. How do I disable Stateful? SPI=Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall for a network layer on routers. My router/modem combo is Linksys WCG200. Does that router have SPI?

A:Should I disable the network SPI?

It is not recommended to disable stateful packet inspection. It is an added layer of detection/protection.

Why would you ask about disabling it if you aren't sure your router has that feature?

I am using Win XP SP2 and am unable to disable my Local Area Connection. When I try I get the following message:

"Error Disabling Connection:
It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated by another user or system account."

Now, the reason I am trying to disable it is because it seems this issue has a lot to do with, and could be the cause of, another problem I am having. This problem is that every time I restart the computer I loose network and internet access and the only way I can recover it is by first uninstalling my Anti Virus & Spy software (which also has a firewall and internet shield) and second by restarting the PC. Even without the Anti Virus & Spy software, and the system restarted with good network and internet access, I cannot disable the Local Area Connection. When I reinstall the Anti Virus & Spy software and restart again, the network works perfectly fine but only until I restart the second time, with the Anti Virus & Spy software installed. Afterwards, when when the computer boots up, access to the network and to the internet is lost again... This is very frustrating. I have had to uninstall and reinstall the Anti Virus & Spy software regularly in order to get around this problem and continue my work safely. I am hoping you can help me with this.

Hi everyone,

My first post here.

I have an interesting issue with network connections. I did a search here but it looks like I'm alone...

Essentially I was having problems with my Internet connection, so I did my usual thing of disabling my wireless connection and connecting an Ethernet cable across the floor to connect to my ADSL modem/router.

But this time instead of enabling my Router Cable network connection in the network properties window, I did it on my 1394 firewire connection. I realised my mistake as it went blue (active) and disabled it.

I then enabled the Router Cable network connection, but it showed as unplugged - checked the connection - all good.

So I then disabled that one and created a new one and it worked first go, but the Internet was still down so I realised it was an ISP issue not, as I'd thought, a wireless problem

So finally I disabled the new network connection and re-enabled the wireless and after a while my ISP 'woke up' after a technical glitch at their end and all was fine.........

......Until I restarted.
All of the Network connections came up and my Internet and network connectivity is as slow as a dead dog.

Now, when I try to disable the redundant connections, only the firewire connection obeys, the other two can neither be disabled nor removed.

After another restart, the firewire is back up along with the other two...

A restore didn't help so I'm stumped

Any insight is greatly appreciated

A:Disable Network Sharing

Got to Control Panel/Local Area Connection/Properties

Uncheck: File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks

In fact, the only thing you need to have checked is: Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

The rest aren't needed on a stand-alone computer.
The Client is only needed if you're on a network.
QoS is only useful on large networks.
Link Layers are only needed if you're going to be connecting to non-Windows 7 computers.
IPv6 can be left checked if you like, but I don't think it's being used at the moment.

A:Disable Network Alert?

I don't know how to disable the notification and I may have looked for this back in the Windows XP days and never found a solution. However I have an easy work around if your user name and passwords are the same on your server as the workstation.

Make short cuts to the mapped drives on your desktop, you can move them to your a place of your liking later. Open a command prompt and type:

net use * /d <enter>
net use /p:no <enter>
The code will remove your mapped drives and stop the machine from re-mapping them every time you log on. When you click on your shortcuts you will re-map the drive(s). Note: This will only work if the server is up and running, if the server is off or the server has not fully booted it will not work.

I have an Acer Aspire laptop with Vista. Apparently it has a default function which, at the time of booting up the pc, begins automatically searching for available wireless networks to which to connect. I would prefer it not do this. After/during bootup I can always press the particular keyboard button which can "disable LAN" (or conversely enable it) which does give me control, but isn't there a method whereby I can set the pc so that when I turn it on it will NOT automatically start searching out network connections? Perhaps this automatic searching out networks is some sort of convenience feature, but I'd rather be the one to decide when I'm ready to search out connections and connect to any networks. thanks

I have spent some time trying to Google this to no avail. I have a laptop with Windows 7 Pro that I use to troubleshoot network connections, routers, etc. Any time I connect a cable, the computer tries to detect whether or not I have internet connection by testing the DNS and seeing if it gets a response. This is great for home users who could use this information in a troubleshooting situation, however, most of the devices I use are in various stages of setup and DO NOT have an active internet connection. This feature takes about 30-60 seconds and is bothersome when I have to reboot the device and wait for windows to make up it's mind before I can access the router configuration again. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn this feature off permanently, or even for the current session?

I have just re-formatted my computer and are having a problem with the firewall in 'panda Platinum Internet security 2004'

I am running 'Windows XP Home', i am having the problem of when both Service pack 2 and 'Panda Platinum Internet security 8 are both installed i cannot access my network or the Internet at all unless i disable the firewall in panda (doesn't make a difference if i disable windows one). The network works fine when it is either just panda or just service pack 2 with the firewalls on, it is just when they are mixed. I have tried various ways of installing them in different orders but does not affect the problem.

Internet explorer knows what the page is it just says at the bottom left corner 'Website found. Waiting for reply...' which seems very strange.

It worked fine before i re-formatted the computer with both panda and service pack 2.

Thanks in advance,

So here's my weird problem I don't understand at all:

When I am running a VPN server on x64 Ultimate, my network adapter takes about 5 minutes to disable. This is especially annoying when putting my computer to sleep as it takes 5 minutes to suspend while the VPN server is running. Disabling the Routing and Remote Access Service under services.msc and restarting the computer fixes the problem, as does deleting the incoming connection from Network Connestions (must still restart). Now for the weird stuff:

If the computer is connected directly to a cable modem, the problem does not occur. If the computer is connected to my WRT54g with STOCK firmware, the problem also does not seem to occur. With ddwrt v24 SP2 the problem does occur. If the computer is connected to my WRT54g with tomato, the problem occurs. If the computer is connected to a DIR655 gigabit router with stock firmware, the problem occurs.

I have tried various network cards with different chipsets (realtek, intel, dlink), always updating to the latest drivers and the problem occurs when connected to the router I want to be using (wrt54g w/tomato or dir655 w/stock firmware - latest updates applied, of course). I don't want to use ddwrt, it's performance is fairly poor.

My question is: WHAT THE HECK? How can whichever router I have connected make a difference in how long my network card takes to disable. And only when a VPN server is running on vista? Any help is appreciated figuring out how to go about even diag... Read more

I procrastinate uncontrollably when there's an internet connection available.
So I figured:

1. Disable built-in network card
2. Buy USB network card
3. Give the network card to a roommate whenever I need to study etc.

For first I need to physically disable my built-in network card in my Lenovo E530. Is it somehow possible? I don't care going to extremes such as hurting it etc.

A:Is it possible to physically disable the network card?

Hi .. You should be able to Disable the Card in the Device Manager ...

As for using it in another Computer it would have to be compatible ...

Maybe the Manual might be of some Help ...

Some Network Cards are Integrated into the Motherboard ...

I have windows server 2008 installed on a pc witch i use exclusively to develop a website on localhost and it may be strange but i don't need an internet connection, actually it keeps me working rather then navigating on the internet.

And it kills me a diolog everytime i open firefox asking a connection to the internet. And it keep popping up. I actualy have an internet connection(PPPoE) that is workin but when i'm developing my website i want to disable the internet connection... but i didn't find a way to do that...

Putting firefox offline does not work, i can't navigate not even in localhost. Setting up a fake internet connection is not working either, it shows me a dialog that i have a problem with my network connection.

I know this is a vista forum but from what i know the network connection is the same in windows vista and windows server 2008.

Hello, I have an issue with my D-link wireless network adapter. I've been trying to disable it and get a better signal, and sometimes it says it has a connection with 2 out of 4 bars but the internet will stop working for no reason. I used to be able to disable the network and repair it by right clicking the icon in the tray, when that stopped working I went to the device manager and did it that way but now that has stopped working. I got a message saying my computer hardware settings had changed and my computer needed to be restarted, and after that I could no longer disable the wireless adapter from the device manager. It's been screwy all around for months. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I'm on domain level 2012 R2.  Users are on Windows 7.  We have a group of contractors who will be working for us temporarily submitting web forms on the internet.

They need internet access.  They do NOT need LAN access, access to any printers, no network shares, no network browsing, nothing on local area network.

I believe it was possible to do this using GPO for 2003 domains and XP clients.  But enabling the settings "No Computers Near Me" and "No Entire Network" does not seem to work in my domain/client situation.
Is it possible to disable all LAN access using GPO in a 2012/Win7 environment?  If so, can you point me in the right direction?
Please note that I am asking specifically about doing this by enabling a GPO setting. Easy peasy.  I don't want to change firewall settings, and I would rather not push out registry changes.  I just want to know if there's a nice, clean, easy GPO
setting or two that I can enable.

I have been using Windows 7 for a little over a week and today while exploring it some more I noticed I have two network connections listed under Network Connections.

(1) Local Area Connection -- Realtek PCIe GDE Family Controller

(2) Wireless Network Connection -- 802.11n Wireless LAN Card

The only computer in the house is mine so I am curious if I can just disable the '802.11n Wireless LAN Card' without causing any problems?

Thanks and regards,

A:Can I disable my Wireless Network Connection?

If your computer is connected via a cable there are generally no problems with disabling the wireless connection.

You can do this from Control Panel|Network and Sharing Centre, Click on change adapter settings, right click the wireless connection, left click on disable.

If your computer is a laptop then there is usually a button on the side or front that will also disable wireless.

Hello everyone,
I'm having some nasty troubles with Win7 lately and I thought this forum would be the right place for a resolve.

After a power cut, I can't connect to my router and as a result to the internet anymore. It keeps telling me the network is unidentified. I downloaded my motherboard's network driver (Asus M3N78-VM), installed it, then through Upgrade I selected the driver from NVidia as opposed to Microsoft. Did not work.

I then tried to Uninstall network drivers, or Disabling them. When doing that, my PC is in an infinite loop to uninstall the driver, or to disable it. Also changing IP setting manually and pressing Close in the Local Area Network window _sometimes_ makes my PC go stuck as well (often after disabling IPv6).

I do not have the Bonjour service running (says the Bonjour removal tool), I do have Adobe PS2 for some time and Adobe Reader...

It's hopeless, I can't think of what is wrong or how to remove the network driver properly. I'm up to a point to reinstall the OS, but that involves a lot of work, so if it can be done without it would be great.

Thanks in advance,

A:Can't Disable / Uninstall network driver

I can uninstall the network driver through Safe Mode. After starting in normal mode it reinstalls the driver, but it hangs again when pressing Close in the Local Area Network window. It also keeps searching in the driver file forder it says (the window when I clicked on the balloon that says it's installing the new driver).

Still no connection though, the yellow exclamation triangle is gone between me and the router, but that could be because it's still Identifying network...

Is there a way to disable network connections on startup?

I'm talking about the connection, not the hardware itself.
I know how to enable/disable afterward. (right-click connection)
I've even dragged a shortcut to taskbar for this.
I would like to connect only when needed, (using cable modem) due to security & also speed issues, and I've noticed my startup time is MUCH faster when I've disabled the hardware itself, so I'm hoping that disabling a connection will prove the same...

thanks in advance!

A:Disable network connections on startup

try disabling the network connection in Network Neighborhood. Right click the connection you use and select disable. Enable the connection again when you need to use it. hope that helps.

Good Morning everyone, I kindly ask the following information:

I installed Windows 7 , use ZoneAlarm firewall ( Windows firewall disabled ) and AVG antivirus . From Control Panel - > Network Connections Center - > Change sharing options , I disabled Detection Network and disabled File and Printer Sharing. But, my problem, is that every time I restart the computer the two options are enabled back.
Can I disable permanently this settings? Thank you!

A:Disable Network Sharing Options

Go to Start and search for Services.msc

Open Services and locate the service that constantly turns back on. Within its properties you can set it to disable.
