[SOLVED] PC freezes on certain applications

Q: [SOLVED] PC freezes on certain applications

Ok, i just put together my new pc,

MSi X79-GD45 mobo
Intel 3820 3.6ghz i7
16GB Corsair venegeance ram (4gbx4)
OCZ 60gb ssd os drive
1tb barracuda drive
OCZ GameXstream 850w PSU
Galaxy GTX 680 SOC version

and it freezes randomly, it starts fast, works fine on desktop and everything, ran MSI Kombustor no problem,

but when i go to "rate windows performance" it freezes on direct 3d blending application.
when i run Dirt3 it starts fine, works for a second in the title menu then freezes,
for GTA IV as soon as i click the icon i hear a beep, then it freezes

reason why i cant figure it out is it works fine on normal stuff, those are the only things i have noticed so far.
Funny thing is it runs crysis and crysis 2 on very high settings for both games, looks amazing and holds 60fps @ 62* for entire gameplay.

any ideas what to check?

also when i say freeze i mean hard freeze, as in it locks up, reboot required.

the only part in my PC that wasent brand new was the PSU, could that cause this?

Thanks

Preferred Solution: [SOLVED] PC freezes on certain applications

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: [SOLVED] PC freezes on certain applications

Unless it's faulty I can't see the PSU being inadequate as 850w should be more than enough even for a PC that's maxed out with all the latest hardware. But that doesn't rule out the possibility that it may be faulty.

This problem began occuring recently, and as such I am assuming it has to do with either windows updates, or an alternately running program or process.

Windows XP home has been reseting while im using old applications, windowed dos, or win32 applications, unexpectedly. I set windows to not reset on critical errors so now it just hangs. No mouse movement, unresponsive to ctrl+alt+del or alt+tab. The event viewer displays no errors during this time period, and i have been getting no "windows was improperly shut down" errors on startup.

This has occasionaly occured in the past whilst running xp applications, but only very rarely, and as such may have been an unrelated error.

Note that this does not occur during all old applications, also that I attempted to run under a restricted profile unsuccessfuly to see if the problem would occur with none of my personal background apps running, apperantly windows will not allow any of the applications to run without admin privelieges.

When these specific applications are run on my other computers they have no problems.

Also worth noting that i have recently had a huge virus infection, at the same time as an external hd failure, though the only way i can see this affecting this issue is that i am running different antivirus software now (avg instead of windows defender).

Ill be running disk cleanup and defrag overnight to see if that helps at all, and maybe some registry cleaners. I hope someone can help, i dont ... Read more

A:XP Freezes while running old applications

I wonder if this HardDrive has also got an issue (physically, bad spots etc)
You could run a Drive Diagnostics on it to confirm (making sure to backup first)

Or due to previously having many Viruses removed, the Windows system files have now been corrupted (somewhere!)
You could run sfc /scannow to repair that issue (But I'd suggest uninstalling AVG first).

Actually if this is the free version of AVG, please try a Free Antivirus like Avast or Avira

One last option, would be to run Memtest on your Ram

That just about covers it

Hello,

Last night, I left the computer idle when I went to go brush my teeth. As I came back, computer froze. Never happened before but whatever, reboot.

When Trillian (multi instant messaging client) was loading up at startup, computer froze. Rebooted.

At startup, I quickly shutdown Trillian via Task Manager and I thought that was it. Then I opened Realplayer... froze. This also happens when java loads up (school website uses java), windows media player, but surprisingly not when I open Firefox itself. Heck it even freezes when I try System Restore, highlight someone's name or even try to msg them on Gtalk.

During all the multiple reboots, I did notice that the cpu temperature is relatively high than usual. 50 degrees celsius. Usually it hovers around 40. It may be because I had it on for awhile or maybe it's due to the new video card? But the past few weeks with the new video card, I didn't have any problems. If the cpu fan wasn't working, the computer wouldn't boot right?

I tried a couple of common solutions.
1. I performed a full chkdsk, that helped a friend of mine who's computer wouldn't even start after it froze. In my case, didn't work.

2. I went to safe mode, managed to get System Restore to work. But it didn't help.

3. Disk Cleaner, last ditch effort. Nope.

I noticed the sticky mentioning reinstalling Windows, would this be a potential solution? I was planning to format some time soon anyway.

Whenever I play games, like Warcraft III or Half life, or any 3d applications, my computer will freeze. In Warcraft it freezes when starting the game and in Half life and other games when I leave a server. This has been happening only since I reinstalled my graphics card and installed new drivers. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and going back to old drivers and that doesn't work. I have already turned down the AGP speed to 4X speed from 8X speed because my Mother Board can't handle the 8X speed. I've also tried installing newer motherboard drivers. My computer specs are a Soyo K7VME Motherboard with a AMD XP 2600+ processor, 256 MB of DDR 333 Mhz ram, and a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro graphics card.

Most of time, my computer runs perfectly. When I run any game (tried with 3 different games) the system freezes and restarts after 5-10 minutes of play. When I run the evaluation to get my performance index, I got the same behavior before the end of the test.

What information do I have to post here so someone could eventually help me?

Thank you a lot for any help!

Hello,

Just signed up and hopefully with your assistance we could try and get my computer back to its best.

A short while ago (2 weeks?) my computer has randomly started freezing.
I haven't changed any hardware or installed any software of note (minus a game or 2) other than any Windows updates that have come through.
The freezes appear to happen at random and with no steps I can do to replicate the issue, other than just using my computer until it decides to happen. I've had it happen whilst just browsing the internet and I've had it happen whilst playing games.
I presume the issue to be software based as I've left my computer on overnight whilst it was doing a backup and I didn't find a frozen computer in the morning, but this doesn't alone count out hardware issues of course.

What would be a good starting point of information to provide?
Kronin.

A:Computer randomly freezes using different applications

If you have a good idea when the issue started I would look for ways to put your system back in the state just before. For example, using a Restore Point or uninstalling the Updates since the 2 weeks.

If the freezes go away then it's likely one of the updates. If not then it may not be related. If you have a restore point older than 2 weeks that's probably the quickest thing you can try.

Also it's a good idea if you don't already do system image backups, to get set up. Often when tracking down an issue and trying solutions you can end up in a state worse than the original problem if you have no way to get back to square one. Maybe an external drive and a free image program like Macrium Reflect or similar.

Hi. (Move if in wrong thread)

I've had my computer for over 5 years and has ran completely fine until today. At first I my computer froze whenever I had Spotify open (I would get green dots around the monitor), after a reset my browser (chrome) started messing up, the monitor would go black then back on again but once again froze my computer, another reset and it froze on Firefox and IE. I turned off my computer, let it cool and tried again. Now I can't even open any applications, I tried task a manager and it loads a black box. Really worried as I have essays coming up next week. I'm writing this from my laptop as my desktop is increasingly unstable and has been f,r a while. I've taken advice from tech-wise guys, online forums and spent money with computer repair shops trying to sort it. Windows Vista Home Premium has been reinstalled more than once, hardware disconnected, drivers updated, memory has been tested and swapped - and whatever else I could think of or has been suggested.
The words "Windows has detected a problem..." or "The "application" has closed and is restarting.." are so familiar that I no longer scream.
I have a Packard Bell imedia, with Intel quad core, 4Gb Samsung memory in two strips (although system only seems to recognise 3) runnig Vista Home Premium 32-bit. 500Gb HD and a 250 PSU.
When I get a BSOD the codes/files quoted are invariably different and often there are no files quoted or other indications apart from "Windows detected a problem.." These things seem totally random - today, for instance - the first time ever - I was told that "plug and play" had stopped.
But I often don't always get a BSOD - I just get messages such as "Desktop Windows closed.." or "The application stopped..." or "Internet Explorer closed..." and very occasionally no message at all, just a restart.
I did suspect my Kaspersky protection, but problems occur with or without it, though seemingly less often when it is stopped - and I have the same security on t... Read more

If possible please tell us what the computer shops did to repair your system in bullit points.

Secondly please give us your full hardware profile in bullet points as well. It makes it much easier this way. Yes, we know you have a 250 psu but we'd like the brand name. Also video card, etc. How old is this system?

Lastly...

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

P.S. 32-bit Operating Systems cannot recognize or utilize 4 gigs of RAM. 3.5 is the max.

Hi SevenForums!

I have a problem with my laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise x64. After I turn on my laptop, Windows loads up fine and everything appears to be working, the desktop loads just fine and all applications start up. Normally, Windows works just fine for a couple of minutes, then something weird happens. If I press anything on the taskbar, it will start freezing and it will never resume again, if I even try to press Ctrl+Alt+Del I will get a message saying that it could not load up the application or something of the likes. I cannot launch any applications after the taskbar freezes, even when I try to launch via desktop icons. Any active running applications will start to freeze during this period as well. Now the weird thing is, this doesn't always happen, I can be lucky and not experience this, I would say it happens after around 2/3 of all startups. This is very annoying especially considering I use this laptop for school work. Any suggestions on what I could do to fix this? Oh, and this doesn't happen when I am running in Safe Mode. Thanks in advance.

Started about a month and a half ago, when my power supply died while the computer was on.

First, my computer specs:
Pentium 4 2.66 GhZ
768 mb RAM
Samsung 80gb hard drive
ATI x1300 video card
Edit: OS is Windows XP Pro
I believe it was 420w, and now I have a 350w supply. After that, I noticed that the computer was considerably slower. About 2 weeks ago, it started to freeze everytime I would load a big application (World of Warcraft, Counter-strike, games in general, Vegas editing, etc) or multiple applications at once (many firefox tabs open, AIM,etc.) The programs started freezing more and more frequently, up until today where I decided to reformat my computer. My computer now runs much smoother, but it will still freeze when loading big applications. I'm guessing the slow-down was due to some registry errors of sort, but whats the deal with the freezing? It's very frustrating.

A:Computer freezes whenever loading big or multiple applications..

Another thing to note :

Whenever it freezes, the computer seems to revert to 5 minutes or so before the freeze. For example, if I delete a file, and clean the recycling bin. When I reboot the comp after it froze the file might be back in the recycling bin.

i'm using norton internet security 2005 (updated by liveupdate) on a fully patched windows xp pro sp2. when an application tries to access internet for the first time, a popup comes asking me what to do with it(we all know up to this point). i choose "always allow" option. normally the application should continue working and be able to connect to internet. however, application stops responding and "end task" doesn't work. when i try to shutdown/reboot, it takes nearly 5 minutes before windows shuts down. if i disable the firewall(but leave the antivirus working), these problems end. by the way, some days this problem does not happen; and i witnessed this happening on fresh windows instelled machines a few times.

i scan my computer everyday with adaware 1.05se pro(definitions updated); i never say "yes, install" to popups unless it's from microsoft, macromedia, etc.
if anyone knows how to solve this problem, please help.

Hello everyone, I'm having a hard time now, my laptop (Asus n82jv) suddenly freezes out of nowhere, explorer hangs, applications (chrome, adobe pdf) stop responding. I've read related threads and tried the troubleshooting, driver checks, memtest86, but still if freezes out of nowhere. After a hard reset and booting it up right after the first freeze, it immediately freezes again at the log-in or black screen with mouse, not even reaching the desktop. I dont also think its overheating since i run memtest for more than 12 hours, but after the test it works fine even though its hot. Unlike when i'm doing just searching the web or reading a pdf there will come a time the application will stop responding, taskbar not functional. But if I waited a few hours without using the laptop, it works again, then will freeze again at random times, thus entering the loop again.

Driver issue? Should I resort to formatting windows? Any advices? Thank you so much!

At this stage i only have 18 processes running, which is 10 or so less than i usually do ^^;;

After a 2 or so minute wait everything just comes out of it's coma and starts running fine.
This is incredibly annoying, and if anyone has any solutions, please let me know!!

No option is selected in msconfig, startup section.
all junk files & temp file cleared using Ccleaner & Glary utilities, also disk is fragmented using Diskeeper 2011
NO virus, malware, spyware present as I have checked my PC with Norton 360, webroot secure anywhere & SpyBot search & destroy
After checking for virus I have un-installed all antivirus, right now I don't have any anti-virus so there is no point that antivirus is increasing boot time.

So please let me know is there anything other I can do so I can improve the boot time as earlier my boot time was less than 1 minute.

If this problems is fairly recent, you may be able to roll back your computer to a date/time prior to the first startup issue by using a system restore point.

System Restore

See if there are any damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Another possibility is application conflicts at startup. Perform a clean boot (aka clean startup.)

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

If none of the above helps you may want to go through these troubleshooting guides for startup issues and general troubleshooting issues. They are time consuming but have helped isolate problems for many people.

I'm am using Windows 2000, everything works fine, but when opening up MS Word, nothing appears. Normally a blank document would appear, but all you see is the title bar and nothing else. It never opens. So by hitting control alt delete, an error message appears when trying to end the program, it says "this program can not be closed. If it is debugged, please resume or close debugger first." However it is not in debug mode. The same thing occurs when opening up other programs, such as adaware, they never seem to open and then ctrl alt delete comes up with that error message. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong. Please help.

I have the same problem. The loading of programs into the system tray 'pauses' for 1-2 minutes before everything continues normally. During the pause other programs can be run from the desktop but nothing can be accessed via the taskbar or system tray (hourglass icon appears when cursor is over sys tray & taskbar). This has only started in the last week. I have removed all programs i have installed after the problem started but it has made no difference. The PC has XP sp2.
Most times it pauses with Norton AV loaded but disabled (red cross) but this is not always the case. And NAV is always enabled when the pause ends.

Hi bax and welcome to TSG,

I have split your post off into a thread of its own. It's not a good idea to tack onto an existing post as you may get overlooked.

Please do this. Click here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html to download Hijack This.

It’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad. Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed.

Hello. I tried to solve this problem myself but I am afraid this is beyond my skills.

Symptoms:
- Every game I run and some applications (for example Google Chrome and Steam) crash without apparent reason every 15-30 minutes.
- BSODs every couple of hours
- Freezes that require restart every couple of hours
- Windows went crazy, for example single click opens a new explorer window and it completely ignores my control panel settings (double checked that!)
- My mouse does not work properly, it's a Logitech G400 gaming mouse and it seems to change it's DPI settings on it's own driving me crazy in the process

When it started: I had ONLY BSOD PROBLEM going on for a few months, so I decided to format my PC 4 weeks ago. This did not help for BSODs and after about a week it escalated to the list posted in paragraph above

What I tried so far: Virus scans (shows nothing), /SFC SCANNOW (which told me there ARE corrupted files but it can't fix them, thanks very much...), Memtest+ which I ran for about 2 hours and it showed zero errors, fiddling with explorer and mouse settings, installing newest drivers to everything, threatening my PC with violent death should it not get it together (needless to say didn't work)

My specs:
64 bit Windows 7
Asrock P67 Pro3
Intel i5-2500
Geforce 560 GTX
8 Gigabytes of RAM (checked with Memtest+)
Logitech G400 and Roccat Isku keyboard (mentioning in case it's drivers issue)

Hey During the startup phase of windows my computer freezes. I think one of my programs/applications is doing it and I would like to disable the startup programs so I my computer won't freeze. However I can't disable it through windows obviously since it freezes on startup. I have a Dell XPS 1330 and I can get into a command prompt screen. What can I do to disable my startup applications? (oh and my safe mode doesn't work)

A:How do you disable startup applications if windows freezes on startup?

Get to command prompt and type msconfig and follow clean boot directions
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
You may want to try from an administrator account.

Odds are its the AntiVirus, but thats just a hunch.

I am running windows XP home edition SP 2, accessing internet via Road Runner. I upgraded Internet Explorer. It froze so I killed it and restarted again. It finished properly the second time, or so it seemed.

IE7 ran OK the first time. The 2ns time it froze on a blank window. No toolbars, no status bar, no nothing, just the frame and blank inside.

Other symptoms: Internet Options opens up OK from the control panel, and every tab seems OK, but when I go connections, LAN settings, the button shows depressed, and the thing freezes.

I can access the WWW without a problem via Firefox. Outlook sends and receives email without a hitch. But any program that checks internet options to see about proxy settings or similar, freezes. Example Intellicast and the Zinio reader. Example the setup program for Max Registry Cleaner and Registry Mechanic.

I ran a virus scan with AVG. The machine was clean. I cleaned up the registry with RegistryFix. There were a lot of lose ends, now it is clean. I ran AVG Anti Spyware. It has a residue of 45 tracking cookies, nothing else. I uninstalled Intellicast and the Zinio reader. Nothing made a difference.

Lately I've been experiencing High CPU usage on random application. It's becoming really annoying and cutting down my productivity on already slow, crappy laptop.
I've tried everything:
*Virus Scans
*ProcessExplorer (and all solutions related to it)
*Defragging
*Attempting to enable DMA on SATA drive (Doesnt work because my drive doesnt have that option)
*Simply ending the processes.
*I would hold overheating responsible but then my pc has been overheating for a long time now and that doesnt stop it (Not to the point where it randomly shuts off, but to the point where I close it down [laptop] and after entering stand-by, it shuts down)
*I made sure to uninstall other anti-viruses, so that it wouldnt compete with malwarebytes.
*Im still installing a whole lot of windows updates, hoping that the fix might be among them.
*I tried a system restore to a date before this happened...No luck.
*I've tried plugging it out and then in again 3:
*Ive tried updating drivers

A:High CPU usage (100%) on Random applications. (Applications using 50%)

Hi Inquixitor and welcome to Seven Forums!

Same problems if you boot to Safe Mode? If that helps try this as a next step:
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

*ProcessExplorer (and all solutions related to it)
Including enabling VirusTotal check from the options menu? That will check all running processes against 50+ antivirus products. Start Process Explorer as Administrator so it can check system processes too.

Instead of killing a process from Task Manager it's better to use Process Explorer and first Suspend the process, then kill it. In case of malware infection this reduces it's chances to automatically restart the process when you kill it.

Hey Guys, I'm new here and am looking for some help...
I'm very computer savy and fix most of the issues myself, but this one I cannot seem to hash out..

When I rebooted my system today (Win 7x64 Ulti) I noticed my application windows kept flickering. For example..

In firefox, the top (where you would click to move the window around) and the boarder around it keep flickering as if someone keeps clicking on it to select it. Over and over again.

What I've Tried:
Video Drivers
Screen Refresh rate
System Restore/Repair
Malwaerbyes scan
Security Essentials Scan
Super-Antispyware scan

Malwarebyes' turned up 2 issues,I deleted them and restarted, but it didn't fix the problem. Windows 7 is fully up to date as are my graphic drivers.

System:
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
2 ATI 5870
AMD Phenom quadcore
1 TB for OS/programs

I'm open to any and all suggestions.. I can't seem to get this fixed!

Thanks

A few hours ago (3/17/2010) everything was working fine and there were no problems when opening applications such as Internet Explorer, etc. However now when i try to open internet or any other application, a warning appears. It is a big red circle with an "X" inside of it and it says that the "Application not found." When I use the startup icon, it does the same thing. However, when I go to the file location in Program Files, and click on the application, a pop up appears asking me what I want to open the file with. So if I am trying to open Safari, the pop up asks what I want to open it with and I click "Browse" then I find the application location for Safari in that window and then click OK. Then finally Safari would open. However, if I have to do this every time I want to open an application, it would be very annoying. Also, if I try to open the application with the task bar, a different warning appears. The red circle with the "X" appears again but this time it says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." Therefore, I think perhaps it could be an icon error where even though I click the icon the corresponding application is not opened. Could someone help me on fixing this problem?? I really need to solve this soon.

A:Solved: I am in great need of help with my applications

Try this fix: EXEFIX

Unzip the fix and extract the .REG file to the Desktop. Right-click the .REG file and choose Merge. Note that you need to be an administrator to apply this fix.

Reboot the computer.

If the fix only opens as a text file, right-click the file and select Open With > Choose Program... Then, select the Registry Editor.

I use VNC viewer applications on the computers at work to solve some of the program gliches that are caused from the operator. Other than the other "pay per license" programs such as LOG ME IN and GOTO MY PC, is there any other route or method that I can use to gain entry into our INTRANET?

The enviroment consists of

T1 internet connection, router, several pcs (windows xp based).

I have all of the IP from the PC's and the router and can get more information if needed.

The reason why is because I will be leaving to go on a business trip inthe next 3 months and will not be able to return for a few weeks. The people here are computer illeterate and I don't think that they would want to spend $60/hr for an outside IT to come in and fix the problem when I could take a look at the system from my laptop.

Any and all information would be appreciated.

Hi-

Have an ASUS P6T SE mainboard...the machine came installed with Vista...through school (took an Intro to SQL night class for my job) I was able to get a copy of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

At some point between Vista and now (I'm not sure when, as I have been using this machine infrequently, and relying more on the work laptop), the two background apps/tray apps (TurboV and SixEngine) have disappeared. SixEngine had a very nice, handy little power management app (allowed me to increase fan speed and other variables), and I am only now realizing that its gone. In fact, I cannot find the .exe's on the hard drive at all. I'm not sure if I'd had them since the Windows 7 install, but I'd like them back, now that I'm using this machine frequently again. I have the chipset support DVD here, though it says on the disc cover "Vista drivers inside"...so, I am wondering if, were I to just stick this disc in and run it, would it screw up my system? I tried downloading (what I think are the correct) applications from the Asus website (TurboV and SixEngine) but one of the .cab files in the SixEngine zip file is corrupted, so I can't install it that way...this is a little beyond the scope of my computer knowledge and I would love any help anyone might be able to offer/suggest.

Thanks!

I don't thnk it is an internet or modem problem, but has to do with some component not working after computer heats up. Perhaps, it is dirty inside and overheats easily. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, as my computer is useless as is.

I am running a Windows XP OS with Xubuntu installed via Wubi. Today I was using my laptop and it started freezing and I couldn't load anything. I though it might be a problem so I went to try and start System Restore. When I clicked to start it said it had been disabled by group policy and to contact my admin, but I am the admin of the computer. I also can't start Task Manager, and explorer.exe occasionally says that the memory cannot be written. Now I can't even click on the start menu button. The entire taskbar freezes, and I get error messages with nothing on them other than a red octagon with an X. On my desktop I cannot open anything. Is there anyway to system restore or something? I am using a secondary computer to write this. Also my AV (avast! Free) is disabled (icon in tray has small x) but when I try to enable it, it says "All shields are enabled."

Also, most icons are a plank page, all my shortcuts are broken and even when I was connected to the internet I couldn't load any webpages (using Google Chrome). It displayed the same page as when you choose to kill the pages. Also every time I try to delete something, it says 'Cannot delete *.*. File is being used by another program. Close all programs that might be using the file and try again.'

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the list and I'm a "senior citizen" living in the north west of the U.K.

I have a HP computer running Vista Home premium edition and the Home and Student version of Office 2007.

Somehow I've managed to make a mess of Word 2007.
The problem is that every time that I open word 2007 instead of getting a new blank page I get a copy of an old file that I thought that I'd deleted over a week ago.

Even if I click the Office Button in the top Left Corner and try to open a new blank page from there I still get the same old file opening.

I hope that some person is able to offer me a solution as to how to get over this problem.

Regards,

Alan6634.

I can't scroll down using mouse, arrow keys or page up/page down keys. The two biggest issues are Windows Media Player and Control Panel. I can scroll fine in my browser. But in those two programs especially, when I try to scroll using any of those methods, it simply scrolls back up to the top immediately, and if I hold down the key or hold down on the mouse button or mouse wheel it just vibrates up and down really quick.

I've even restarted. Usually that helps but this time it hasn't, and I'm trying to uninstall some programs but can't. Antivirus hasn't encountered any issues.

What's the issue here!? This seems to either be a rare problem or no one knows how to solve it because I've searched everywhere.

Thank you.

Nevermind, it was my mouse. I'm not sure what was happening with the keyboard, but that's not affecting it anymore. After switching mouses it works fine. Apparently the laser on the troublesome mouse was really sensitive and would detect your hand moving close by. Also, deleting some unnecessary programs might have helped.
