Preferred Solution: I bought a developer account does it really let me keep apps I sign myself for 1 year ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Instead of sending the activation code to my sign-in email, it was sent to my reserve email, which no longer exists on the system, I sent the new telephone number, this has been changed, but I am still not able to open any of my Office applications. Yet
I will be charged the renewal from the date I put in the product key. When one has a product key and then signs in to Live, why does this then not activate? Why when you have changed to my new telephone number, have you not sent me an activation code? With
my reserve email dead, you do not allow me to change it. The only other email I use is Gmail, they are much better than Windows Live, I only use Windows Live to allow me to put new programmes onto my computer, and as usual ten days later I have no use of the
programme I bought. So typically Windows. I have used you since the day you began, what went wrong? You used to function once. These last years have been hell. I wish I had bought an Apple computer and changed everything to Apple. Each time I buy a new laptop
these same issues come up. Please give me access to the Windows Office 365 I bought and put on my computer.

Hello all,
I am having an issue accessing the Developer API access page within the Microsoft Security Response Center website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/msrc). When I click on Customer Guidance > Developer API access, or navigate to https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/developer,
my browser first asks me to sign in and click which account I would like to use. I click my desired account, and it briefly redirects to the Microsoft Developer API Access page, but then after a split-second it redirects me back to the sign-in page. Is it
a requirement to have a specific type of email associated with the Microsoft account in order to get past this?

Thank you for your help!

I am trying to get the update to play counter-strike but when I download v 1.5 mod and install...it does not convert my current version to the new one. At the end of the installation it asked if I want to place the ?readme? file end a shortcut to my desktop. I say yes and the shortcut is not updated but the ?readme? file is. What do I need to do to get this to update. I do not understand why I buy a new game and I canít even play it. I did get half-life updated and that is what I am currently playing now.

Also what is the deal with having to pay for the updates? I just bought the game...you would think I can get the update for free. As you can see I am new at this so any help will greatly appreciated.

Hi
i do prefer a local account
but when i try to install new apps from app store
w8.1 asks me to switch to a microsoft account

can i install apps with a local account?
and how can i understand if i have a local account or microsoft account

thanks

A:can i install apps from apps store with a local account?

See the screenshot below for selection you have to make for not to convert your local account to a Microsoft Account:

Windows Store - Sign in with Different Microsoft Account in Windows 8

Screenshot from tutorial Skype App - Use with Local Account in Windows 8.

You of course need an email address (Microsoft Account) but it will only be used for the app in question (Windows Store is also just an app), so in the next dialog either give an existing Microsoft Account credentials or select Sign up for a Microsoft account to create a new one to be used with Store app:

Your Windows sign in account will remain local, it will not be converted to a Microsoft Account.

That being said, I was interested in installing a couple of apps from the app store. However, it is requiring that I log in with my MS account to download and install them.

My question is if I log into the MS account to download and install the apps, will that create a new user account of any kind or otherwise mess with my computer settings or user accounts?

My younger brother and I share a computer. It is Windows 10 Pro. I was letting him use it while i was asleep. All I know is that he was playing his video games. Anyways, he left the house to go hang out somewhere and i wake up to see that when i turn on the computer, only his account shows at the sign-in screen. Meanwhile, there are THREE accounts on this computer. My account, His account, and a local that my other siblings use sometimes. I restarted and even shut down my computer about 4 times. I waited until he came back and logged on his account to check what was wrong, and I see that my account is still there with all my files and docs. The other local account is there too. I log out to see if my User name is there but it isn't. I tried to see if my account was deactivated using these methods but none of them worked. I've looked on Microsoft's forums but all I found was how to activate the built-in administrator account. Please do your best to help!! Hi there

I thought I could understand a reasonable amount of I.T stuff -- but reading up on some of the FAQS about Windows 8.1 Enterprise version there's a lot of mention of "Side Loaded" apps.

What on earth does this mean -- to me it seems that these applications aren't loaded fully and only work in "Half-assed mode" only but I'm sure Ms doesn't mean that so could someone enlighten me on what this actually means in plain English.

Thanks

Is it possible to 'install" DP Apps in CP?

Where are the 'shortcuts?' for Metro Apps located?

Here's path one..
d:\Program Files\Applications\microsoft.build_1.0.1.4_neutral_neutral_8wekyb3d8bbwe\

Here's path two..
d:\Users\Windunce\AppData\microsoft.build_8wekyb3d8bbwe\

Yes one can copy those folders to the appropriate place in CP, but getting them 'registered?'
and finding out what takes the place of a .lnk is beyond me at the moment.

Any help appreciated.

ps...
For now I've made two users, Windunce and Metro.
I've 'disabled?' the MetroUI for user Windunce and left MetroUI as installed for the user Metro.

I simply unpinned all the apps from the Start Screen except 'Desktop' and enabled Quick Launch on a
double-height TaskBar to replicate? my Win 7 system

User Windunce will logon for day to day productivity and User Metro will logon to enter the brave new world.

The best of both worlds? Well it could be, but not just yet.

Found the .lnk to the App.
The folder names changed from DP to CP.
No more Immersive Apps Shortcuts, nor Applications folder.

So I created those folders in CP and copied everything over from DP into them.
The good news? The shortcut showed up in the Start Screen!

The bad news, it doesn't run :(

I suppose I could compare registry entries and import some keys, but before I try that,
does anyone think there is an easier way?

Dear forum readers,

I have a problem when trying to install:

Windows 8 Developer Preview with developer tools English, 64-bit (x64)

When using the DVD tool from Microsoft as explained in one of the tutorials in this forum,
I receive the following error message:

The disc does not have sufficient free space.

I use a 4.7GB DVD disc, and the size of the Windows 8 Developer Preview with tools English, 64-bit (x64) iso file
size is: 4.83 GB.

Of-course this is the source of my problem, and i need a way to fix it.

What i am doing currently, is downloading the Windows 8 Developer Preview without tools.

I have read some solutions, but they did not offer what i am looking for.

I need a way to install the complete version with developer tools, including:

64-bit Windows 8 Developer Preview
Windows SDK for Metro style apps
Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Express for Windows 8 Developer Preview
Microsoft Expression Blend 5 Developer Preview
28 Metro style apps including the BUILD Conference app

I only have a normal DVD drive, no USB stick of the required size, but I have a second hard-disk with sufficient space.
AND I have an external USB hard-disk with sufficient space.

Tried to install from local hard-disk in Windows 7 by using the setup.exe in the sources directory, gives me the following error:

I Just had a log in error. I have a Dell Precision 7710 mobile work station with the Anniversary Update. I turned on the machine and tried to log in and got:

---------------
We can't sign into your account
This problem can often be fixed by signing out of your account, then signing back in. If you don't sign out now, any files that you create or changes that you make will be lost.
---------------

Logging out and restarting did not work. I shut it down, undocked (it is a Thunderbolt Cable Dock), and then restarted. Luckily it was back to normal log in. I shut down docked, and booted and it was normal log in again.
Not sure what happened. Hope the issue does not come back.

I read online this happened to others, but cannot find a cause or fix (other than restarting) and wondering if anyone knows why this happened.

thanks

Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice on troubleshooting the following issue!

To explain, Windows 8 Pro (X64) was installed by way of a clean install utilising audit mode to configure the User Profile folder location to a new partition on a secondary drive (D:\Users). The 'main' user profile (the one with the issue) was then further configured using the profile list keys within registry to place the 'Main' at the root of D: (e.g. "D:\Main") a location used since the release of Windows XP. Individual folders within this profile have been further customized using the 'location' tab (e.g. "D:\Main\Filing Cabinet\Main Documents" etc.) though this is probably not relevant!

Additionally, directory junctions have been created (mklink /j) in respect of D:\Main with D:\Users........and although probably not necessary D:\Main with C:\Users

The current situation can be summarised as follows:

1. All user accounts are assigned 'administrator' privileges

2. User profiles created under the D:\ partition (e.g. "D:\Users\Secondary" etc.) function normally with Store sign in and working Modern (Metro) Apps

3. The "D:\Main" profile functions correctly except for Store sign in and functioning Modern (Metro) Apps.

4. Attempts to sign in to the store using an MS account fails with a self returning sign in loop.

5. Attempts to bypass and download (free) Apps continually fail with the message "Something Happened and this app coul... Read more

Hello, I'm running windows 10 on an older office computer. I recently had some issues with missing OS files when a graphics card went (Took half the OS with it). So I have erased my Pc, and re-downloaded windows with a new graphics card.

All has been fine for a few months till now. I restarted my Pc to get this message"Sign in so you don't miss out" "You need to sign in to your Microsoft account so you can send your parent requests when you want more screen time or need permission for certain apps and sites" (My account is in a family with my Dad's, it was originally labeled as a 'kids' account when we created it for an Xbox 1. There are no restrictive settings on it. It is the only account on this Pc and is an Admin account).

No big deal I thought, so I hit sign in. Then I got this lovely error message: "Can't sign in with a Microsoft account" "This program is blocked by group policy. For more information. contact your system administrator" "0x800704ec". I went through all group policy settings and they are all set to "Not Configured"

I would ignore all this, but the "Sign in so you don't miss out" window is persistent and when closed or minimized opens again in a few seconds or when your open/run a new program. This is VERY annoying when gaming... If you need computer specs to help I can send them, I haven't included them because this seems to be an error with... Read more

Did you do a full clean install? It sounds like you didn't if it came from a company. Group Policy is usually enabled/deployed by companies.

You would need to redo to the Windows OS installation again. Look at the sticky thread in this forum (link here) to complete a clean install.

A:your account was locked because you or someone else tried to sign in

Hello,

Hi, have you tried to access your email through the website?

OK, let's see if you can access through the site. When you open the email program and get that message it's because you have been blocked access. You can still access your email because the emails are downloaded to the PC.

Try to log in and let me know the outcome.

If you were able to log in. Let's do a password XXXXX on your account.

That will trigger the Live program to ask for new email and should clear the message.

Do you know where to change the password?

If so, go ahead and change your password.

After the reset, test to see if everything is OK.

Post back, to let me know how your doing.

Hope this helps,

Okay, so heres the deal. I've been having some problems with my browsers lately. I usually use Safari but every time I wanted to open it, the IE showed up and closed again immediately. Been trying to restore the system, checked my defaults and such but nothing worked.

Compared to what my Problem is NOW, this is just easy peasy stuff.
So i shut down my computer and when I turned it on again the next day I just wanted to cry. The computer booted completely normal, nothing suspective but when I wanted to sign into my account, I saw my background picture for about 2 seconds, then it signed me out again. I thought that was a bad joke and tried again. same thing again. Tried to log into my guest account since you don't require a password for that one but still nothing. So i tried to reboot but did that work? No. Nothing changed.
All this is about a week ago now. A friend sent me a link where it explained my problem and showed 2 solutions for it. Said it was a Virus which i still think it is. It cant be a hardware problem. One said that the Virus overwrote the file userinit.exe in system32 with wsaupdater.exe. So I got the Windows XP CD, booted my Computer from the CD, got into the recovery mode and tried to re-overwrite the file. Which worked but it didn't solve my Problem.
Another solution was restoring (again). But I couldn't really figure out how I was supposed to do it. The explaination wasn't very precise.

So here I am now. I was gonna move abroad by the end of t... Read more

Just installed Windows 8 pro upgrade. I had previously set up Windows 7 so that I would not have to sign in. That carried over to windows 8 but I had to setup a Microsoft account and I am required to sign into that at startup. Any way to automate the sign in or have I missed a checkbox somewhere.

Could anyone tell me why G-Mail says "One account. All of Google" however I have to "add account" every day to open other g-mail accounts.

Worse, every time I try to sign in it says, "You password was changed 2 months ago" then I have to click again and hit "use password for [email address]"

This is in Google Chrome.

thanks.

Hi,

I have parental controls set up, but I am concerned about documents that my child might be creating on the computer. Is there a way to sign on to his account? We each have passwords.

I know what he does online, but what about on the computer, not online?

And, if I can see his stuff on the computer, is there a way to do it so he doesn't know?

Also, can I set the browser so he can't do "private browsing"?
Thanks!

There is no need to log on to his account. As administrator, you can view all files in his account's C:\User\(user-name) folders directly while logged on to your administrator account. He will never know.

If you turn on Activity Reporting (step 7 at link) in Parental Controls, then you will be able to click on the View activity reports link in Parental Controls to view all of his activity.

Also, can I set the browser so he can't do "private browsing"?

Yes, you can disable inprivate browsing so that no one can use it.Hope this helps,
Shawn

Local account signs in without PW.
Microsoft account prompts for one at sign in (but not from SLEEP).

It appears from the following MS statement that typing is mandatory. Is this the case, or is there a way to auto sign in?

"If you don't want to enter your password every time you sign in, you can create other sign-in options to use with your account, like a picture password or a PIN. If your PC has a fingerprint scanner, you can also sign in with a fingerprint. (Whichever sign-in option you choose, you still need a "regular" password in place to use a Microsoft account.)"

Hello borgus,

A Microsoft account requires a password.

If you like, you could set Windows 10 to automatically sign in to your Microsoft account at startup.

I currently do not sign in to Win 8 with a Microsoft account. What are the advantages/disadvantages of signing in with a Microsoft account?

Thanks

EDIT:
Actually to clarify this, I do know what the advantages of signing in with MS account are. So I guess what I am asking here is what are the downsides? Any privacy issues perhaps?

A:Sign in with Microsoft account?

I will say the major problem will be if you use your Hotmail account and you have a non secure password and someone get it and change the password of your Hotmail account, blocking your access to your PC, Tablet and Phone. For sure I will create another regular account with admin rights just in case.

I'm getting crazy.
I cannot "sign in" to my Microsoft account ([email protected]) from the programs and the store.
For example, if I open Word 2013, and if I try to sign in I can input my email, then my password. Then I don't receive any message but I neither sign in too.
Same thing for other programs that require to sign in (SkyDrive, Exce, OneNote...).
Same thing for the Windows Store.

The account credential are ok and I can sign in to my account from, say, a browser. I can also check my email with my email client program.

The crazy thing is that sometimes (sporadically) the "sign in" attempt succeeds and I can sign also from within those programs in (as I should do always).

I don't want to re-install W8 or make a refresh. I've already done that and I lost all my program settings (about 60 programs). It took a whole day to restore my system completely but the problem wasn't solved.

I'm using a local account (with admin privileges) with no password set.
If I try to change my user account type and switch to a microsoft account I can insert the microsoft account and the password, but at the last stage ("You have almost finished changing your account...") after I press the "Finish" button, I receive a "very nice" error message:"We are sorry but something went wrong. Your account wasn't changed to this Microsoft account.
Code:0xd0070005"

What really gets me crazy is that in rare occasions I can sign in (say from... Read more

I am using Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9879. I have had an ongoing problem that I cannot resolve with Microsoft or anyone else up to now. I always receive "your account has been disabled due to too many invalid login attempts..."

I have tried to reset my Microsoft Account a thousand times. I am always denied, even though I have confirmation that my password has been changed. I have used at least three different email addresses for my Microsoft Account. I cannot sign in.

I see a popup at startup that OneDrive has been detected. I cannot login to OneDrive due to the problem I've outlined above.

At the least, I would like to disable OneDrive, but cannot find a way.

While browsing the Microsoft Technet forums, I noticed I am not the only one having this problem. If I try to ask Microsoft Online Technical Support, I am merely brought back to the Microsoft Account login screen.

Can anyone help?

Hi, please help! My hotmail account is saying that I have an incorrect password when I have NEVER changed my password. It then says it will send a confirming email to the email address, but how can I access the email account if the password is not being accepted? I need help and MSN is not helping at all!

A:My hotmail account won't let me sign in

This can work if you had the hotmail option where the password was saved on your computer. If you gave an alternate e-mail address when you signed for Hotmail, you may ask a new password to be sent to that e-mail.

This is the third e-mail in recent days regarding wrong password for Hotmail accounts!
