I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Rant first, tips below.Bought a 310-15ABR for my daughter and paid for Office 2016 Student & Home (not worthless 365) with the idea that since it's a full Office 2016, others could use machine. We created a MS account for her when initializing Win 10 and she created password.Days later, when she first tried to use Word, she was prompted for an Activation Key.While annoying for something that should have been 'activated' when I bought it, sounds simple enough. Where's the card with Product Key or instructions to get it ?After searching everywhere for card or something with key, gave up and called Lenovo Support. Big mistake.Support language barrier is daunting. Have to phonetically spell out everything - "Three One Zero Dash One Five Alpha Baker Romeo..." - and then listen to them repeat it back.Support did a LetMeIn/Rescue123 remote control install which installed itself as a hidden Win Service. Then proceeded to fumble around for an hour (mouse around, [Run], type chars, bksp over some chars, retype, close [Run], mouse around, launch MSPaint (?!), close Paint, talk to colleague, [Run], type chars, bksp over chars, repeat....).They finally installed what appeared to be a couple of MS updates and then WITHOUT WARNING (they were silent on phone) rebooted machine. Great. Daughter no longer around to log back in.Luckily I had created an additional local user Admin login and could get back in.Despite my pleas that we were no longer logged in as the primary user, Support had ... I am using Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Build 14295 on the slow ring.

I have purchased Office 2016 from Microsoft online through my education account and they have provided me a key to activate Office.

When I finish installing Office 2016, I get this image: http://i.imgur.com/zzzmjEX.png
I am under the impression that the center image should be showing something else, other than a windows into my desktop wallpaper

When I enter my product key, I get this error: http://i.imgur.com/Jvba6E7.png

If I click repair now, Word restarts and I am presented with this: http://i.imgur.com/osLfSFq.png

Clicking repair now again, Word shuts off. If I click on a Word doc I am presented with: http://i.imgur.com/y4NKsyS.png

And if I click Accept: http://i.imgur.com/YB1Brmv.png

What is going on? What can I do?

I'm trying to create a new simple volume in 130 GB free disk space. There's no obvious reason why it would refuse to do so - I'm not at the hard limit on number of partitions or anything - but disk management MSC is consistently returning "Not enough space" errors.

The only thing I can think of is something to do with the partition order, but if so I have no idea how to fix it non-destructively. I'm in the middle of backups on it, so deleting partitions is a no-go. At the moment I don't understand what's going on.

According to all sources that I could find on-line, it appears that rules are part of pst file.

However, this does not happening in my case.

I use outlook 2016 (part of MS office 2016) and have several accounts linked with this ? From my ISP (POP), Hotmail, yahoo, Gmail. I have rules only for account from my ISP.

Recently I deleted my Hotmail account, removed it from my outlook, deleted associated ost file. Then I had second thought and re-activated this hotmal account the following day. Added this to my outlook. To my surprise all rules vanished. Not a single rule remained. I did NOT have any rules setup for Hotmail account. Even column details for message folders (part of setting) got changed.

I decided to check further. Copied my pst files to another computer which had same version of outlook installed and has exactly the same setup.

Now I added some rules on my 1st computer. Checked the 2nd computer. The same rule appeared there. That means pst file does not contain rules.

So, Where are they?

Hope someone can help me. I am lost!!
Thanks

Hi everyone

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice about a problem I'm having with office 2003 - student and teacher edition. My dads computer came with a trial version of Office 2003 which was meant to run for 60 days. A couple days ago office went into reduced-functionality mode with no warning after about 30 days so my dad went ahead and bought a retail copy of office 2003 - student and teacher. The trial version was uninstalled and the retail version loaded on which appeared to go fine i.e. product key accepted etc. However when you start any of the office programs they are still in reduced-functionality mode and if you got to the help menu and click 'activate product' the wizard doesn't start. The only suggestion I found on microsofts website was to delete the Opa11.dat file but this doesn't sort the problem. It's almost like it thinks the retail version is still a trial.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I recently installed MS Office 2003 on a computer running on Windows XP Professional and it was working fine. From the installation, two run time errors would come up when I would log on to AOL instant messenger. To fix this I went to internet properties and disabled script debugging (other). The "disable script debugging" for internet explorer was already disabled. From there on I stopped receiving the error. When I restarted to see if the settings would remain the same my computer wanted reactivation for some reason. So I tried to reactivate it over the internet but no connection was being established. I even went and connected the cable from the cable box directly to the computer and even that wouldn't work. I was sure that internet worked on it because it had worked before I restarted. The problem is I have to reactivate my computer or I can't log on to it. Is there a way I can fix this or somehow restore my computer without logging on.

I have a three month old Gateway Laptop, Windows Media Center Edition 2002, that came pre-installed with a 'trial' version of Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 which included Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

The trial is due to expire on 11/30, in two days. I purchased the CDs of Microsoft Office Pro Enterprise Edition 2003, because I wanted the additional programs, Access and Publisher.

I installed the CDs, entered the Product Key when asked, I activated and registered and thought I was done.....except, Microsoft Word still is 'un-activated' and in trial mode.
AND it still says it's Word Student and Teacher edition and that's why it won't accept my MS PRo product key when I try to re-enter it. The other programs that were already on the laptop, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are all activated and 'switched' it says they're Office Pro now.
If my CDs over-wrote the other programs why didn't it work on Word?

I'm afraid to uninstall and reinstall anything because I'm afraid it will think I'm entering the product key twice if I try to do that way.

I desperately need to use Word everyday and on Thursday it becomes inoperable and I won't be able to edit and save any of my existing word documents.
What do I do?

Don't fret, MS loses it's key when you uninstall. That's exactly what you should do is uninstall both and reinstall the one you purchased; provided of course you bought a fresh install and NOT an upgrade. If that doesn't work call MS, you get 2 free calls with every office purchase I believe, click help, online help. And most of the time they fix what's wrong fairly fast, I'd give you the link but I'm demoing 2007 currently.

A:Problem With Activation Office 2010 and running KMS

The only KMS arrangement I have used is the one run by my employer, so this may not be relevant, but just in case this helps - you usually need to be logged in to the same network as the one where the KM server resides. For me, this meant connecting by VPN to my work network in order to go through KMS validation successfully. If I don't connect by VPN, the KM server refuses to validate the installation.

Also, KMS systems usually check the installation at intervals (it's not a fix and forget arrangement, the validity of the installed copy of Windows is checked at regular intervals, I think every 180 days), so you need to connect by VPN periodically in order to avoid Windows thinking that it's an invalid installation.

Hope this helps

I recently bought a genuine copy of Office Professional 2007. On the back of the CD holder it says that it is licensed for placement on three machines. I have installed it on my computer running windows 7 ultimate, on my laptop running vista ultimate and on my wife's computer which runs vista ultimate.

On my wife's computer we have two accounts, one in English for me and one in Spanish for her. I installed Office 2007 on that computer and it activated in the English account which is the account that I used when I installed the office suite, but in the Spanish account it says that it is not a genuine copy of Office. What is the deal with that?

My question is, does Microsoft see the two accounts on her computer as being two computers, which would put me over my three machine limit. If not, is there a fix for this problem. Thanks in advance for any help that you can give to me.

Hey there,

Just a bit of background: I recently upgraded my fianc?e's fathers compaq laptop from Vista to Windows 7 Professional with the student upgrade package offer. In doing I chose a custom install and the old files are still stored on the computer.

The problem came when I attempted to install Office Academic 2010 back onto the laptop. This version of Office was another purchase using student deals so the product key could be used on 2 different computers (my fienc?es laptop and her dads laptop). The laptop previously had the same version of Office before the upgrade to windows 7. However, now windows 7 is loaded, when I try to install Office 2010 it claims that the Office key is incorrect and refuses to accept it and install.

I'm usually ok with sorting these kinds of things out but i'm pretty stumped as to where to go with this and the Microsoft Office site is...shall we say less than helpful.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Folks,

The title of the thread says it all really.

I have legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate on my PC. I have just bought a copy of Office 2016 Professional Plus through the HUP.

I haven't installed Office 2016 yet - I use Office 2010 at work and find using Custom Animations in PowerPoint tricky compared to Office 2007.

I'd like to install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 until I have tried Office 2016 to see if the Custom Animations in PP are easier than the 2010 version before switching completely.

My question is, can I install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 without conflicts - switching between versions without a problem or will installing Office 2016 screw Office 2007 or worse FUBAR both Office installations or my PC.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers,

Zaph

So even though "the password is different" you are still able to log onto the computer? I installed Office 365 on a new Notebook on Thursday and none of the log-in for the computer changed. As for the Networked drives, you may need to use File Explorer to Disconnect the drives then Map them again [I've had to a couple of times in the past].

Office 2016 Installation Routine Deleting Older Stand-alone Apps

I can't say I wasn't warned. I was part way through installing Microsoft Office 2016 on my primary workstation when I got a message that said, "Stop, you should wait to install Office 2016." The error message went on to say that if I decided to continue anyway, my copy of Microsoft Visio Standard 2013 would be removed. Since I had the original disk from when I purchased the software, I went ahead. Bad move. It turns out that when Microsoft says that Visio 2013 won't work with Office 2016, it means it won't even have the chance to work. Any attempt to reinstall the software will be thwarted. The fact that you paid for the software is beside the point. You're basically out of luck. When I went to the Microsoft community forums, which is where Microsoft handles much of its tech support, I discovered that I wasn't alone. Apparently hundreds of people who'd purchased stand-alone Microsoft Office products were affected, and they weren't happy about it.

Furthermore, the problem extended far beyond Visio. Users with Microsoft Project, Publisher, Access, InfoPath and SharePoint Designer were also affected. Likewise, Microsoft customers who purchased Office Apps that are normally part of Office suites but may have been purchased separately, such as Outlook 2013, were also affected.

The License type here appears to be KMS - which requires a dedicated KMS server to activate against at least every 180 days.

It's a Volume License - if you purchased this license retail, then it's counterfeit.

Hi there

It looks like that a Student and Teacher edition of Office 2016 will be available at around 90 GBP - 105 EUR while an Office 365 subscription will be around 60 GBP - 73 EUR for 1 year. Since the Student edition will work on 3 machines it seems to me the subscription model is bad value compared with Office 2016.

Now there might be a caveat -- not sure if OUTLOOK 2016 is included with Student and Teacher --we'll have to wait and see.

There *Might* also be an Upgrade price from Office 2010 / 2013 too.

I bought my Office 365 for cheap in college. It is registered to me under a college email that I no longer can access.
(this is a problem because I used that account to sign up for Bing Ads and the customer support is always messing with me to prove it is my account, hard to do when you cannot access the old email, it is a pain in the rear)
Anyway, if I buy 365 again and register it under a new email, will I lose access to all the storage I have in my school account, or will that remain. Can the accounts be synced? (the on-screen prompts imply they can be synced, but I don't trust MS enough to not verify that this is true)

I assume if I just renew it under the now-defunct email address nothing will change. Except I will be out $69 for a 1 year subscription.

What if I just buy Office 2016 for $71 and keep it for several years.
(if these guys are for real, https://www.istarsoftware.com/112-microsoft-office-2016)

Is there a difference for my purposes? I use MS Word, Excel and Outlook daily.
But I use them at the novice to lower average level user level.

Do you think Office 2016, that will last for several years and is cheaper, will be OK?

I use Outlook to access various emails and I do some very simple spread sheet manipulations with Excel.

To be honest, if it weren't for Outlook I would probably not buy it at all. I like the email client. Otherwise Open Office (I think it is called) is more than sufficient I would think.

No.

While possible it is not recommended to install multiple versions of Office on the same computer. But they both must be the same bits. The only way this could be done is to install one on a virtual machine.

I am baffled by this one, and hope someone can help. I've installed literally dozens of gmail accounts into Outlook for clients, but this one is giving me fits. Every time I try to enter the account into a new Outlook 2016, the program hangs and then gives me an error message about an IMAP error, saying "Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following:" with an error number and a link to "answers" from Google. Now, I know Outlook and Google very well. The suggestions they give are the ones I have already done:

enabled less secure apps access to the account
double-checked that the password is correct and logged into the account online
enabled IMAP connection in Gmail settings
logged in through the CAPTCHA site suggested, though no CAPTCHA appeared
checked to be sure that two-step verification is NOT turned on
created a brand new profile through the Mail section of Control Panel
entered suggested Gmail server and port settings manually
My method is to create a profile without an email account so that I'll have a pst file to contain contacts and calendar. Then, I add the email account. This is just crazy, I've never seen anything like it. Ideas would be most welcome!

Hello
This is more of a "Huh how did that happen, nevermind it works now FYI" post.

Due to quickly needing more HDD space I added a HDD back to the system which was previously replaced by an SSD.

As the only free SATA port was blocked by the GFX card, I used the SATA cable from the DVD drive.

Next boot it said "3 days to activate...". Ok, no problem... just phone. Licence been on the machine many years and only reactivated once."

The activation message remained after each reboot... OK let's take out the GFX card use the other SATA port too and plug DVD back in before activation, as I'll be needing the space for at least a month or two.

DVD goes back into previously used SATA port, old HDD into port blocked by GFX. Next boot it says Windows is activated - no need for the call.

I don't know if some sort of online reactivation occurred automatically or if Microsoft was just happy to see the DVD drive back on the previous SATA port.

A:Activation required after adding HDD -but then not.

Its because you keep swapping Drives.
Part of the activation process is the HardwareID, if you swap drives in/out that ID changes, ergo the non-genuine, put the old one back in MS says ah i know that one im happy.

Hi,
We are using  the Threat Modeling tool 2016 but we have a problem with
accentuated prints like «é» or «č» in the template editor.
It raises an error on :
-
Stencil name
-
Properties name
-
Properties values
What?s really annoying is that the modeler doesn?t have any problem with these prints characters ? we used them in TMT2014 without any problem, and we?re able to do the same in TMT2016 by importing a model from 2014 - so bypassing the template editor.
Is it possible to fix this and allow accentued prints characters in a futur version ?

Property name 'New Property Attributeé' of stencil 'New Stencilé' is not valid. Property name must contain only letters, numbers and underscores. Property name cannot contain
periods and special characters other than parenthesis, hyphen, comma and &.

Property value 'New Property Attribute Valueé' of property attribute 'New Property Attributeé' under stencil 'New Stencilé' is not valid. Property value must contain only
letters, numbers and underscores. Property name cannot contain periods and special characters other than parenthesis, hyphen, comma and &

I'm resurrecting WDT for Win 10, it's been quite useful at Eightforums - but Win 10, especially with digital entitlement, has different needs.

I uploaded a beta at github for those that would like to test and give feedback in terms of what is required etc. The thing at EF was I was one of few interpreting the diagnostic report, so making the report itself more user friendly is one of the main things we need to sort out.
The current report is almost verbatim what Windows' licensingdiag.exe utility produces.

NB Office is phase 2 so that will not be a priority right now.

Releases · Superfly-Inc/Windows-Diagnostic-Tool · GitHub

PS It also needs a new name.

NB: It may hang on first use - if so close and restart... it's a known bug.

I read about it, but I am still confused on certain points. My actual HD works just fine, under Windows Pro7 32bits. I will add a new one that I want to install using my current W7 license.

Do I have to delete anything on my old one or disactivate it by a process unknown to me? Can I just proceed to install my new HD and just activate it even the second HD W7 is still under activation?

Txs in advance

A:Newbie activation question about adding a new primary HD

If you are adding the new disk as a secondary drive, then you need do nothing at all.

If you are replacing the current drive with a new one, then teh procedure would depend on the type of installation you have.

If you bought the machine with WIndows pre-installed, you almost certainly have an OEM_SLP License.
If you bought Windows 7 separately from the computer, you (hopefully) have a Retail License - but this may be either an Upgrade or a Full retail license.

Machines form large manufacturers come pre-installed with an OEM_SLP Key which self-activates if other conditions are right. One of those conditions is that the proper Recovery Software is used for any reinstall.
If you don't have the proper Recovery software, then you can use a Retail disk for the reinstall, but must use the Key from teh COA sticker to be able to properly install and activate the installation - such activation may have to be by telephone.

With a Full Retail license, there is no problem - simply install with the appropriate Key and activate

With an Upgrade license, this requires that the machine holds a valid qualifying full license for Windows. To ensure this, Windows 7 Upgrade disks and Keys test for an existing installation on the hard drive. If it is not present, then the Key will be declared invalid, and the install blocked.
