CSGO Fps and CPU speed drop

Q: CSGO Fps and CPU speed drop

Hi,

Lately when I play CSGO, at certain times, my fps went down from 120 to 40fps.

When I'm at 120 fps, my cpu speed goes to maximum at 2.4 to 2.7 Ghz.
When I'm at 40 fps, my cpu speed goes to its default which is 1.8 Ghz.

I wonder why this happen sometimes. I can't even play properly at 40 fps and I don't know why my cpu speed goes lower to 1.8 Ghz. Other games are not like this. But my main game is CSGO so I need this to be fixed and stay constant at 2.4 to 2.7 Ghz. Please help.

My laptop CPU speed is 1.8 Ghz but it has a TurboBoost feature which can go up to 2.4 Ghz, maximum I notice is 3.0 Ghz but rarely, only up to 2.4 or 2.7 Ghz

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Overheating possibly? Sounds like it could be throttling the CPU due to overheating.

So, I'll boot up my laptop and everything will work fine. My download speeds will be somewhere near 20-25 mb/s and uploads are around 4-5 mb/s. I'll also ping test my computer with no packet loss, a ping around 20 and jitter around 1-3%. It all looks great and dandy (Pics below). Except, after about 15 to 20 minutes, my download speeds will dropoff to about 20-50 kb/s and my ping test goes through the roof to about 70-90 with jitter near 70%... Not good at all.

Now, I have the suspicion this is being caused by my internal wifi adapter (the Realtek), because when I use another external usb adapter (TP Link TL-WN722N) my speeds never fluctuate and I have no problem, ever.

So, sometime ago, around about the start of November, my internet speed dropped out of nowhere, and has remained at the constantly lowered speed since then. Usually, I would have a download speed of 4/5 mbps, however, in recent days that's more like 1/2mbps. When trying a bandwidth test, that would usually have been about 3.6/3.7 mbps, however that is more like 1.6 mbps now. (A way I used to scope what my bandwidth was, was using the Formula1.com website where when you watch a video on it, it will tell you your bandwidth rating before hand. That, as I say, has dropped from the 3.6mbps to the 1.6mbps mentioned. This is normally an okay speed to do things, however, whilst my father is using Netflix, the internet becomes so slow, that it is basically impossible to do anything. Normally, on my 'old' internet speed, it would have not been a problem.

Now, I've done all the tests that are normally mentioned to do, as I have been searching for an answer since the internet speed tanked. It is not a computer specific problem as it is exactly the same on all devices connected to the router. I have rung my ISP, and they have said that my line should be receiving around 5/5.5mbps, as we run on an ADSL connection. However, doing a line test through the same provider says we should be getting 2.27 mbps. My ISP reports no problems with the line, and there has been no change at my end either.

I suggest checking the bios and make sure that the processor is detected correctly.  Start the system tapping F12 and choose bios.  The general page should have all the information on the processor and take a look and see if ti looks correct.  If not, you may want to take a look at the processor itself and make sure that it has a good connection to the socket and to the heatsink.

If the processor looks good in the bios, then take a look at the advanced tab and check on speedstep, toggle it on and off and test both and see if there is difference, test with the AC adapter connected.
You can also try setting the system to defaults, choose the exit tab in the BIOS and choose Load setup defaults and choose save and exit and see if that helps.
If you are able to get into Windows go into Windows control panel and choose power options, power plans and choose advanced and then High Performance and see if that helps.

So Hi Everyone, this is my first post here, but hopefully I can become an active member of these forums from now on!

Well, I installed the last RC of 7, just for fun, and found that my down speeds on the internet tanked. In Vista (slow as it was), I could achieve 13Mb/s on speedtest/speakeasy/etc. Now, I've upgraded to 7 for a bit, dual-booting, and the second I boot into 7, I can barely make 768Kb/s.

I have a sneaking suspicion that its a driver related issue, as 7 asked me to install an "optional" Windows update for Broadcom card drivers. Now, on Vista, I've stuck with the driver Dell provided the entire time, and there I get the 13Mb/s down. The strange thing is that up speed has not been affected, 2Mb/s in both Vista and 7.

I've disabled IPv6, as I don't have an IPv6 network, and I heard that caused problems with previous Windows installs (Vista).

Any ideas or solutions? (System Details at bottom)

Thanks,

Hi

Over the past few days I have noticed a massive drop in the speed of my PC. Some of the side affects of this problem include

Taking over 10 minutes for the PC to statup
Some applications take up to 5 minutes for them to fully load up
My internet surfing has reduced speed but not to a degree of what my overall PC has
When listening to music it comes through slow and distorted
When typing it takes almost 30 seconds for the typing to appear on-screen
I have ran virus checks and deleted anything found by them, but still the problem occurs

Is there anything you can recconmend I do to solve the problem?

Ok so my roomates laptop starting acting very slow yesterday. It gave him an error with a countdown, and shut off. Then the computer wouldn't reboot into windows; just black screen. I played around with it , dont know what i did but i got windows to boot. Now its just very slow. I ran all kinds of scans on it, cleaned up some virus's and defrag'd it.

I decided to check how much memory he had, and it reads 448MB. Now i knew this was an odd number. I opened up the computer and it has two 256mb sticks in it. Odd. So i replace the two with two of my own i had from when i replaced mine. Reboot thinking this would solve it.

No, still slow. computer Properties reads it at 448mb RAM still. Something is seriously wrong somewhere.

Anyone have any experience with this? Hardware issue, or is it a software issue?

Ps. He's running winxp, and its an HP.

My brand-new computer has a problem.

It can best be described as a sudden drop in connection speed. I have a stable 256 kB/s (note byte, not bit) which works flawlessly on every machine besides this one. The connection can drop to about 40-10, go up, go down, slowly settling for the lower one. Rebooting temporarily fixes the problem until it drops again. I have installed a number of programs since purchase last Tuesday (two days ago from moment of writing), including 30 day trial AVG (first thing i dl-ed) as well as a free mbam which is currently running a scan. No other programs seem in any way related to networking. I have disabled a number of startups, though none of them seemed to be related to networking either. I have also tested plugging it into different ports to make sure that it neither the port nor the cable that was the problem.

I may have solved it. Apparently, a game i downloaded, league of legends, installed a piece of software called pando media booster, a tool for rapid p2p file transfer, which i think it uses to fetch updates. This software starts upon boot and seemed to consantly use connection, about 50kbit/s. My guess is that, maybe due to incompatibility with win 7 or with my a/v it caused my network to become unstable. I disabled it and yesterday i could run a full game in league of legends without losing connection.

I found out using win 7's resource monitor. It seemed like a good tool, but if there are any other better (freeware) pieces of software for diagnosing network problems i would be glad if someone could provide me with a link

Hey Bleeping Computer,

Well, i am a teenager but i know alot about computers and i know that i have no virus nasties or anything. Nothing wrong with my wireless networks etc. For my 3 pcs and two lappys and xbox the internet speed is horrible. My parents pay near ?30 a month for a "16Mb" connection, yet i just did a speedtest and got 700kb/s up and 488kb/s down.
There is no faults in the line as i checked on the BT website thing.
This all happened today, yesterday BT rang and told my mum if she stayed with then for 12 more months they would drop the price to ?15 or so.

But this is rediculous, i cant even join a lobby on Xbox Live, i can hardly load youtube vids, im constantly disconnected and my MSN etc keeps signing out.

I said to my mum to switch but she said shes in a contract. So where do we stand as customers? Can we deny payments from the bank, and just switch to another ISP such as Virgin with fiber cables...?

PS: My mum seems to want to keep it...

A:Sudden Speed Drop

Hi Wongy,

Does your connection ever drop? If so it could be that your 16MB is too high for your PC. This causes it to throttle. Ask your ISP what speed they are expecting on your line and get them to check it. If they are not reporting any problems then you might want to ask them to cap it - this could also save you money. You only need 6-7 MB for videos and games.

If they are saying that there is another reason and they aren't looking too interested then shift supplier. Their contracts don't mean too much if they are breaking it by not supplying the MB they are advertising so they wont legally stop you.

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone, first post to this forum -

I am curious about windows 8 transfer speeds. I'm currently running a Dell XPS 1647 (mid 2010 model) with a USB 3 card from Startech installed in the expressport. It works great, but windows pretty consistently does this thing where if I'm transferring files, it will start fast and then slow down by at least 50%. I have attached a photo of this situation. In this case, I was transferring roughly 500gb of files from a LaCie drive (7200RPM) using eSata to a Western Digital drive 2.5in external drive using USB3. to about 70% of the transfer I was getting 80mb/s transfer speeds, then it drops to roughly 26mb/s for the remainder. This hasn't just happened on my laptop, on my new desktop running W8 Pro, the same thing can occur.

Is there a reason for this? Is it a windows thing, or a hardware thing? I find it does it on USB keys as well - starts quick, then quickly drops to about 20% of the speed.

Any help in figuring out what causes this would be great! thanks!

James

I have Verizon 100k DSL, and at my computer I can generally get download speeds of 70-80 kb/s, but beginning suddenly a few days ago, I've been getting speeds of +/-10 kb/s.

Some Facts:
It's been over 100įF in the past few days.
Using USB wireless produces the same results as going with the LAN cable.
This computer seems to be the only one experiencing trouble.
Downloads may begin at a high speed, but quickly descend into the 10 kb/s range.
The desktop is quite a distance from the router and modem set up (probably 20-30 yards through walls and a floor), but that's never mattered before.
Sometimes, but not every time, when I log in to my computer, I get split-second messages that a network cable is unplugged (though I don't believe it causes any actual interruption).

Things I've Done:
Did system scans with Avast!, Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and currently scanning with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
Reset the router and modem.
Made sure all accessible LAN cables are plugged in correctly.
Reinstalled ethernet drivers.
Sprayed dust out of my chassis.

I have no idea what's going on.

A:Inexplicable Internet Speed Drop

I appear to have my old speed back, I THINK, at least. The mysterious problem had a mysterious solution. In case anyone's curious, I think it was one of a few things:

Hard reset of my computer (no Windows shut down).
Using a WinSock repair program.
Forcing the RealPlayer or iTunes program to shut down and/or removing their start up entries (???), which I was doing to quicken the Windows startup since troubleshooting takes a lot of system restarts.
I doubt the problem is really solved; I'll edit this again if I have problems.

Hello. About 3 weeks ago I noticed I was getting between 40-60mb download, when my ISP package says 200mb. I was previously getting the full 200mb and then some. Technicians from my ISP came out, ran new cabling through the house and out to the pole, then tested it at the pole, at the box on the side of the house and inside at the cable end. They consistently got 200mb+. When connected directly to the cable modem on my desktop however, I consistently get only 40-60mb (mostly 60mb)

Nothing has changed on my Windows 10 Pro 64bit computer, except possibly Windows Updates. I have installed nothing, ran nothing, I know everyone I get emails from and have clicked nothing. I am an old fart and do not browse "those" sites. I play a single game on here "ARK".

Here is the kicker: This speed is on all 3 computers in the room....but not my Roku boxes.

Hi,

Semi recently bought rapidshare and some traffic share for downloading quite large files ie game back ups etc.

I have a download manager (flashget) and use windows xp professional on two computers (laptop and desktop). My broadband is tiscali and usually get about 4/5 meg out of it id say going by previous speed tests. I am based in the UK and have wireless on my laptop and desktop (my desktop uses a usb wireless adaptor).

Initially I was hitting record speeds of 400-500kb/s - absolutely flying couldnt have been happier. Then I'm not sure why but after a few days of not downloading I returned to it and was only getting 100kb/s scattered over three files at a time. I contacted rapidshare thinking maybe the fast speed was something you had to purchase further but they informed me I should not be having problems as I have trafficshare and until february until my account is closed. They did offer that it may just be the mirror chosen for that download, other downloads could go back to fast speeds - this hasnt been the case. My settings are on random selected server in rapidshare too.

I decided to try my desktop downloaded flashget set the files to be downloaded - no change, the speed is still 100kb/s.

If anyone could help me get the speed back up to what it was previously I would be extremely grateful!

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my broadband speed and would welcome any help please. I'm running Win 8.1 on one HDD and Win 7 on another - not multi-boot but selected by F11 boot manager as required. Results are the same on either O/S.

My Desktop pc, connected to my Virginmedia 2 router is consistently uploading at 5-6Mb/s. It should regularly d/l at 100Mb/s or thereabouts
Broadband speedtest.net showed that it did so when I first had the new router.

However, for several weeks now it has been registering only 5-35Mb/s. This is now my 'normal' result, though on occasion it 'blips' to 40/50 - even 100Mb/s.

2x Virginmedia staff have been out to check the router and declare that all is well. 3x Virginmedia phone 'help' staff have taken over my pc and failed to do anything
(except appear to ruin my pc and advise me to to get the O/S re-installed); that problem went away after the 'techie' hung up - then the system was fine.

Virgin don't have a complaints dep't or any other type of support, so I called 'I'm leaving', which apparently is actually customer services. They promised to help
and arranged another 'techy' visit.

The following day, an unexpected Virginmedia person visited and said that 'he was network' and had checked and renewed items (just in case), from the main server via every stop to my house.
He asked to speedcheck my pc (15Mb/s), then took out my ethernet cable and ... Read more

Hi,

I have a transcend cl10 sd card. I am using realtek builtin card reader from Thinkpad Edge.

When I first insert the sd card, the read/write speed is 8/12mbyte/s approx. It just about pass the cl10 rating of 10mb/s

However after I leave the sd card after sometime say 1hr, when I try to copy files again, the speed drop to 2-4mb/s.

If I remove and insert the sd card, its speed immediately rise back to above 8mb/s.

Is it possible to solve this problem.

Thanks.

Greetings Everyone,

My apologies for the title(tried to fit everything in as little words as possible), but let me tell you about my problem. My computer has always been running fine, until about two days ago. I was playing a game(San Andreas) and kept playing it for about 2 days in a row(never closing the game), but after those two days the game started to lag a bit, so I though let me re-boot and then everything should be fine. But it wasn't. During the end of my two day gaming spree my ctrl+v&ctrl+c&del(I could still copy and past with the right mouse button) keys stopped working in IE(7.0.5730.11) and closing and opening IE resulted in a browser window opening without Caption&tabs(only the first time opening it, after that it returned to normal). That is also why I thought a reboot was needed. And the first few minutes the computer worked fine, but after that the computer started to really slow down. So I checked what was slowing my computer down and I noticed Explorer and the Services.exe process were using huge amounts of RAM. And it seemed some(large) amount of RAM was used by a process that didn't show in the TaskManager.

I tried a McAffee virus scan(didn't find anything special), I cleaned my cookies with CLEANUP and scanned again with SpyWare Docter(the files that I did not know I tried to manually delete, but I couldn't get acces to my System Volume Info folder where one of the 'bad' files was located).

But it still does... Read more

Hi everyone,
I'm NOT tech savvy, so please bear with me. We live in the boonies, and the best internet we can get is point to point radio frequency. I can't get answers from them, so I'm hoping y'all can help out. Our internet frequently drops out, although it remains fully connected. I can run a normal speedtest, but cannot connect across a single device. In checking CPU and memory usage, there does not appear to be anything running in the background. What's going on?

Hello, I apologize for my terrible English, thank you for reading and help me.

I am using Window Vista, DSL Internet.
My internet for the past week is not good. Throughout the whole day my internet fluctuates, up and down fluctuates speed all day. My DSL download speed always been good, I always get 300KB/sec stable speed, until last week suddenly it start to drop from 300KB/sec down to 6KB/sec, This is a big change, something is definately wrong.

I call my Verizon DSL, they do a line test on their side and they say my Modemn recieve good signal, also the DSL light on my modemn is always solid, so I am sure it recieve good signal. I also try update all the drives (it say all your drive to up to date) and I try unplugging modemn for like 2 hours and plug it back in. The Verizon DSL also reset my whole modemn, and the problem still persist. (so it definately not modemn issue)

I also do a Safe Mode Networking with Verizon, I run my computer in Safe Mode Networking, and the internet speed still drop dramatically starting from 300KB/s down to 6KB/s . Since I am on Safe Mode Networking and this problem still exist, it is definately not any software conflict.

I also scan my computer with numerous of anti-virus: Norton, mcAfee, Kaspersky, Housecall, Esset, including Malwarebyte and lavasoft, and found Nothing!! No virus, no spyware! (Unlikely it is virus issue)

I have try many different browser and all the same, very slow download speed. I also do a Pingtest.net ... Read more

suddenly it start to drop from 300kb/sec down to 6kb/secHi -I am sure this is not correct, as Download speed is recorded in Mbps , not Kbps -If the speed was below 6Mbps then it is a major worry, as you would not have very good reception -Even at 6Mbps you should get a reading from SpeedTest. Is the computer Wired to a Modem or is it Wireless when you have these problems ?? Can you plug the computer into the Modem and see if there is better speeds from Verizon to do a full check ??Thank You -

Hi, I'm pretty sure that vista is not the cause of this problem. Try updating the drivers for your modem/ internet drivers. Have you done the basic unplugging of modem and after 10 seconds going back?

Hello. First off I would like to thank whoever gets a chance to look at my case, as I understand you are volunteers and are doing this for no compensation. So, thank you.

First off, my symptoms: I am an avid video-game player and I noticed an extremely significant drop in my average framerate while playing PC Games. I have not recently changed any graphics settings, hardware, or (as far as I know) vital software. (from ~60fps to ~20-30fps). On top of this, I froze up multiple times doing thins as simple as browsing the web, or changing playlists in iTunes. This has never happened before, and therefor I suspect something wrong.

I tried my best to follow the 5 steps exactly as it had asked.

So once again, I appreciate your assistance, and you will find my log below.

Hey there, so ive been having some trouble with my wireless lately... everything was working fine for months then one day the internet was extremely slow compared to what it usually is, so i reset my router and everything seemed to be fine... untill about 5 minutes later, i repeated this a few times and nothing changed...

so i updated the firmware and it seemed to fix everything.. Although i updated it over wireless because i didnt know you were not supposed to.

well now my internet runs fine during the day, normally from 10-16 mbps on speed tests even during peak times, but it seems like in the very late evening everything runs very slugish and then is fine the next morning when i wake up.

if i run a speed test while its slow it says the download speed is 5-6 mbps but the upload takes forever to finish and a ping of 2308, if i reset the router everything is quick again but only for a short time..

service provider - shaw
router - Dlink Dir-625 - firmware 3.08
dell inspiron windows 7 with whatever built in wireless adapter

thanks alot

I have just started experiencing a dramatic decrease in my upload and download speeds.I am not sure what happened, but it started out of no where.I had noticed that my web pages started lagging really bad and sometimes they do not load at all.I scanned my computer with malwarebytes and it came up with nothing.I then scanned with tdsskiller and it found nothing also.I then downloaded and ran adwcleaner and that found nothing.I then ran rkill, and again that found nothing either.so i unplugged my router and reset it.That did not make a difference.I have cleaned out the cache in internet explorer and google chrome.still made no difference. This does not happen in just chrome but internet explorer also, so i know its not the browser.I am about at my wits end with this.whats funny is that the computer itself runs and boots up great! it is as fast as it has always been.It is only when i am on the internet that i have the problem.
Normally my upload speed is 5mbps
download speed is normally 33mbps
Now my upload speed is not even 1 mb and my download speed is at 15mbps
my ping is normally 46 and now it is 115
help me please

P.S..I should also note that this is what is showing on my connection status.

This has occurred since day 1, and I first assumed it was win 7 that was the issue but it occurs in win 10 also.  Unfortunately the warranty was up over a year ago.
After power up or cycling the WIFI connection via windows, I have a connect speed of 72 mbits.  This will last for some time like a day or two and then it starts dropping (I think, I have seen medium speeds) and ends up at around 5.5 mbits.  This issue has occurred with three different wireless routers.
Now, my old Vostro 1500 is still chunking away at 72 mbits per second with no issues (XP and Linux) and my daughter's equipment stays connected at 72 when she is over.
I have been through the dropping threads, but what changes I have made do not affect my issue.
I3-4030U and Broadcom 1704.

Any suggestions or do I just have a bad system that should have been fixed three years ago?

Hello forum,

My PC has a Gigabyte X58A UD3R rev2.0 mobo, i7 950 CPU, GTS450 and 12GB DDR3 RAM. It is running Windows 7 64bit. There are two hard drives, both from WD:
WD10EALS-002BA0 1TB
WD5000AADS-00S9B0 500GB(Windows is on this drive)
*Both drives are 3 years old*

Recently, everything that involves hard drive R/W is slow on the system basically:
-Windows boot up took about 10mins
(no matter normal mode or safe mode)
-Files Moving/Copying/Opening/Deleting
(Avg R/W operation speed is about 1MB/s on both hard drives, sometimes it gets to 700KB/s and lower; This happen to every type of files. I even tried to copy files from one hard drive to another, it turned out that the speed is the same.)
-Application launch
(not so significant speed drop on this one though, but still its slower than before, applications that took 1sec to open now took 5sec)

What I have done:
-I used the HD Tune application to check both drives. And everything is OK(green color), no warnings or errors. Also, the speed is quite normal(About hundred and more MB per sec).
-Head into msconfig and enable only the services by Microsoft, disabled all others. Also disabled all startup things.

Note:
-I did not make any hardware changes to my computer since March
-No drivers or software is installed/removed since March
-Device manager says both drives are operating correctly and it can recognize my drive model names

Hi,

I just bought a new router the ASUS RT-N56U .

After setting it up getting ISP provided information everything seemed to work fine but i then i done a speedtest with the ethernet cable plugged in and it would start off at 8Mb/s then would instantly drop to less than 0.5 Mb/s Here is a picture of what it looks like http://prntscr.com/7z9jcl I don't know how to fix it because when im on wireless only it works perfectly fine is there anything i can do?

A:Solved: Get huge speed drop on ethernet cable not on wireless!!!

There are a lot a variables. How is your cable made? Is it a store bought cable? Did you make it? Is it run or is it just laying on the floor run from router to PC? A little more info might help but ultimately it might come down to without being there to test the actual cable and NiC we won't be able to know for sure.

Sudden drop in Internet speed (I hope this is the right forum section)

As a preface, I apologize if this is the incorrect section. It doesnít seem to directly cater to my problem, but Iíve seen a lot of people post similar problems in this section and receive help.

I am running a HP Pavilion, Model HPE-421F. My computer is a couple years old, but it still suits my daily needs, so I have no immediate need to replace it. Around 1 month ago, my internet speed dropped from a very constant rate of 60Mbps Ė 80Mbps to a level where some days I cannot watch YouTube videos on the lowest quality.
My Firewall is Norton 360 2013 Special edition, and Iíve heard a lot of bad things about Norton, and have honestly not been impressed by it.

My internet provider is Shaw, and I am connected to the internet on a Wireless connection, through a Motorola modem and a Net gear router. I have tried restarting and unplugging both of them and that may lead to a very temporary boost to internet speed, but itís not near permanent.

In a lot of the threads I read, people included a log from Hijackthis, so hopefully mine can help:

Hey,

First off, let me say that this problem may not be Windows 10 exclusive, but it happened to me in Windows 10 (I haven't tried in Windows 7 yet), and that is the reason I am making my post here.

I've been running the Windows 10 Technical Preview for about a week on build 10130. My problem started two days ago, when playing a competitive match on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. My ping will be low (under 50 most of the time) and then randomly jump up to the 200 range for no reason (it stays at 200 for barely a second, but is still very distracting). This problem has occurred on every server I have played on since that day (community and Valve official).

Example:

(I made it terrible quality for a smaller filesize, therefore becoming a faster upload)

Things I've tried:
Restarting my PC
Restarting my router
Connecting over WiFi
Connecting over Ethernet
Resetting my router
Resetting my network adapter settings

Has this/does this happen to anyone else, and does anyone know of a fix (I've tried google, but nothing I found helped).

Thanks

ADSL by any chance? this looks like aluminium degradation to me, it's basically from your cables going to your home which are starting to degrade over time, they were probably installed in the early 90's when copper was super expensive and BT used aluminium instead, bad idea, can you do a test over at this address> Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test and post your results below.
