Windows 7 Activation

Q: Windows 7 Activation

Good Day,
Company PC currently re-installed to Windows 7 Ent to a replacement HDD, these PC is working and activated both Win7 Ent but we need to replace the HDD for something technical reason, after I re-installed our standard software including Windows 7 Ent version
and going to activation using our existing product key, Windows 7 Ent activation failed with an error code 0XC004C020, I I research the error code and found out that we already reached the limit of activation, but my Question is, is there a way to remove the
two (2) PC name in Microsoft to free up the product key that I used before.
I am Hoping to find a right answer.
Thank you and more power.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there
I recently changed a MOBO from an INTEL based one to one using an AMD PHENOM processor -- W7 didn't want any new activation rather surprisingly. (Broken Mobo and I had a spare ASUS MOBO lying around).

However the first time I switched to using a LAN cable instead of a Wifi USB adapter I got the "Hardware has changed - please activate windows. OK it activated fine -- however seems strange to me that a MOBO change didn't call for any activation (Disks, memory, DVD device etc were canaballized from the old machine) but a simple switch from Wifi to a LAN did. !!! The internal logic of the activation process seems totally illogical and bizarre. (Running W7 x-64 ULTIMATE). !!!

Cheers
jimbo

I recently performed a system recovery because I was unable to back up to earlier time before we started having computer issues. Anyway I performed a recovery. Stumbled accross this by accident that windows has 3 days before it wall automatically activate. So I clicked activate. It gave me this message header. "The Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for windows activation". There are 3 options. 1 is to Buy a new product key online. 2 is to type a different product key. 3 is to contact Hewlett-Packard Company to resolve this issue. I contacted Hewlett-Packard Company and they had me call Microsoft. Microsoft wants to charge me $100 for something I already own. Very confused. Anyway does anyone have a fix for this. Thank you

A:Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for windows activation

Hi
You have two choices:
You may either reinstall using the recovery partition, if you have one.
or
You could look for the key on the computer. It can be anywhere, including the battery compartment, if you have a lappy.
As a last restort you can try to use magic jelly bean, but I have doubts since you reinstalled.

Hi Gents,

Hope someone can help me here. I've been using a retail version of Win7 Home premium 64 for about 2 years now with no issues.

During that time I've reinstalled the product possibly 6 or 8 times. Excessive I know but when things start to go wrong I like to start fresh again. Anyway from memory the last 2 times I have had to use phone activation.

A couple of weeks ago I dropped my laptop and killed the HDD. Put in a new one and reinstalled Win. I've just tried to activate with no luck. I went to phone activation and being lazy I typed in my old code I had saved from last time.

Now I can't activate and when I try and open the phone activation box I get a pop up from the toolbar saying the copy isn't genuine and nothing more.

Is there a way to resolve this or have I pissed off the activation so much that I actually have to shell out for a new copy?

Thanks in advance and I'm located in Thailand if that makes a difference.

Hi guys , I installed ATI 2010 Home, Boxed version made a backup image to external HDD. got a message saying I had 30 days to activate trial version? I restored the backup image and I activated ATI , offline, I then received a message saying thanks successfully installed. When I access ATI now I get the same box asking for activation again. the options are Try out, Buy, Activate, Cancel . I was thinking of reactivating online , but am wary of further messing up the install . I have not registered the product yet , Had a look at the Acronis register page ( they tell you Not recommended to access the page) ? Any ideas with this one ? options uninstall , reinstall? Try activate online? Anyone experienced this problem?

Hiya,

I am having a problem with my windows 7 home premium 64bit. I wiped my computer to try and get a new graphic card to work( never got it working, gave up and went back to my old graphic card) Since then I have had to wipe my computer a number of times, I kept having to wipe my computer since the same problem kept happening. Which is that my windows will crash and wont work after about 1-2mins after start up.

I thought it was my disk so I installed it from a usb windows installer and has been runnign fine for about 2 weeks until I was free to do the phone activation of my windows, I phoned up the activation after using my computer for a while then after I phoned and it came up genuine (like normal) I went to get a drink befor doing more work and once getting back to my computer I opened a new tab on firefox it was very slow on the internet so I clsoed my browser and tried to reopen it and but it woulnd't open windows has frozen completely so I pressed the restart button on my case and let it boot up and then it wouldn't let me do anything.

Does anyone have any idea of how come my computer seem to freeze and refuse to work once I use the windows phone activation?

A:Windows wont work after using windows 7 home phone activation

What makes you think it is the activation? Did you go click on "Start Button", right click on "Computer" and left click on "Properties"? When the screen comes up scroll down to the right bottom of the screen and you should see a "Genuine Windows Logo". If it says something different then there is an activation problem.

We don't want to install Windows 8 as of now to our office and we wanted to retain the Windows 7 Pro and Enterprise as our Operating System. Do we have a problem for Activation if we still insists to used Windows 7 Pro and Enterprise Operating System using the Windows 8 Enterprise 82 Licenses?

Thank you very much

A:Activation Windows 8 Enterprise VLK but wanted to install Windows 7Ent

There is no way you can use a Windows 8 Enterprise licence for anything else than Windows 8 Enterprise. You simply can not activate Windows with a product key belonging to another Windows version and edition.

With those licences you can install and activate 27 25 Windows 7, not a single more.

I just completely reformatted my computer after a suspected malware attack.
The first thing I tried after reformatting and doing a clean install of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit edition was to run windows update. I received the error code 80072EFD. This is before I installed any software, firewalls, or antivirus programs. I also get this same error when trying to activate windows or office, or when trying to set up Microsoft media center.

I have a very specific question that i can not find an answer.

I bought a new pc and i want to buy Windows 10 Pro. I have found a very good price for a Windows 7 Pro license which will give me a free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

I will have the key in the following days but the pc is assembled and ready.

(1)Can i clean install Windows 10 Pro and activate it with the windows 7 pro key that has never been activated even for a windows 7 machine or
(2)should i first install windows 7 pro, activate it with the key and then clean install windows 10 and activate it with the windows 7 pro key

Thank you.

Hi Trod,
You can install W10 NOW and you dont have to activate it immediately, theres a 30 day grace period.
So when you get your W7 package you can activate it with the product key.

note your purchased W7 pro licence MUST be either System builder or retail or it will not activate

I have a question, not necessarily a problem. Last night I installed Nero and when I restarted, Windows XP Home came up and told me that I have made significant changes to my system since Windows was activated. (I bought and installed XP home version sometime between Xmas and New Year's, so I've had it about a month.) It wanted me to reactivate windows withing 3 days. I was a little confused, but tried to reactivate, but was informed that my code had exceeded its limits and to get a new one. I had a choice of phone numbers to call, but since it was later in the evening, thought I would do it first thing this morning. This morning I repeated what I did last night cause I could find the list of numbers. This included going online. I was waiting for the next info page to load and noticed at the top of the screen that it had been successfully reactivated. Last night I re-entered my code. This morning I didn't. I don't understand what happened and why I would have to reactivate to start with. I am curious about this and wonder if anybody else has had this happen. I hope I don't have to reactivate every time that I make changes. That would suck.
Thanks.

A:Windows XP activation

Typically you only have to reactivate after major changes. I think it is up to 10 hardware devices? Normally you'll get that if you swap out a mobo or change a lot of hardware. As for the key being used too many times, you can just call and they will give you another to type in.

A:windows activation

Hi -

You should check w/ your dad, too - he might be getting the same message. You do need your own copy of Vista. If Home Premium came pre-installed on your system and you have the DVD and key code, you should be able to boot-up w/ it. You may need to change the BIOS order to look at the DVD 1st (b4 hard drive).

If that works, it will re-format your HDD and all files are lost. The only methods that I can advise you on to recover files is to purchase Ultimate and enter the key code or to use another hard drive for Home Prem installation, then connect the current as a slave and then try file retrieval.

The lingering issue is whether Vista has seen your running of Ultimate a Vista Upgrade, which may mean that your Home Premium key code is no longer valid.

If the files are not important, place the DVD in, boot-up and press the F2 key (or esc, enter, etc... if there is option mentioned on boot screen), enter the BIOS & change configuration so DVD 1st in line.

1) Microsoft supports a licensing mode called Key Management Service (KMS), but it is typically only used (available?) for volume licensing accounts.  I remember playing with it at work a few years back and it seems like there had to be some number (I want to say 25 or more -- but maybe it is only 5?) I'm not familiar with KMSPico, but based on a quick Google search it reveals that KMSPico is not a Microsoft product and appears to primarily be used to facilitate software piracy of Microsoft Windows.

Hi alexxevior5512,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As I understand you want to know windows activation key but as your system is OEM and for OEM machines activation key is pre-injecting in motherboard, you have to create OS recovery media in 16 GB pen drive and you can keep OS backup safely, If you will install OS with recovery media, it won?t be ask you for activation key.

I hope the above information helps.

For my birthday this year, I was getting a brand new motherboard, cpu and ram. My old motherboard we had bought several years ago had been recalled due to problems (which we later found out after the return policy ended, so I have had to deal with my computer restarting itself automatically whenever it pleases for the last 5 years or so now). My dad took me up to Fry's Electronics (a 5 hour trip total there and back) because nobody else around here sells those sort of computer parts we needed. We bought the parts, came home and started putting things together only to find out the sales rep. sold us ram that wasn't compatable with the motherboard We had to turn around and go back up again that next day for another 5 hour trip in our 20 year old car which barely made it home to get the ram.... We got everything put together last night, and nothing will run properly with Windows ME now! Apparently, it was made for Windows 2K or XP. My modem kept coming up just as "PCI Slot" and apparently it didn't want to see it. The other PCI cards seemed to work fine. There were other problems as well when I tried to use ME (like the disk for the Drivers saying the OS is not supported so I couldn't install drivers for the motherboard) The mouse (wireless opitical) even died on me -_-

I figured I would give Win XP a try again and see how it runs on here now. In the past, every single time I tried to install it, the system would restart constantly during the se... Read more

After I took a bath, the "Activate Windows" notice appeared. I am using a Windows 8 Pro (Build 9200) and have a Win8 Pro key. Whenever I input a Pro key, that error appears. It only happened today, but not before.

Does Refreshing PC affects the Activation Key?

A:Windows 8 Activation

Open the Run box by using the Windows key + R and enter services.msc and press the OK button. Scroll through the services till you find one called Software Proteciton. Is that set for Automatic (Delayed Start)? Also try to start it and then enter your key again. Finally, a refresh, may help you resolve this issue.

Well, I bought a new HDD... my old one had issues and didn't run properly but had a legit copy of XP pro on it. I've still got the XP Pro Original disc but the box&case has escaped (probably while moving house) So, I went to a site to get a serial number seeing as I'd paid for xp anyway. The thing is I have 30 days to activate windows or well, I don't even know myself. My question is, what the hell do I do now? I can't afford to pay another $300 on xp and I can't access my old HD.. do I have any options at all?

I had to perform a system recovery due to a virus problem. My virus program blocked a couple of viruses (some email about a package at the post office) and when i clicked to remove them my system crashed. Afterward ,when i tried to boot up it would keep crashing (blue screen). So i performed the system recovery. Everything seems fine except when i try to activate windows i get code 0xc004e003 the software licensing service reported that license evaluation failed. Now this is an acer that had windows pre-installed. This is the second time i've had to do a system recovery. The first time i got a set up with number codes and a phone number to call (microsoft) and by following instructions i was able to activate it (sorry for my explanation , i hope you can understand it). Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

I recently had Windows Vista and my Hard Drive crashed so I installed a new one and reloaded all the original drivers and programs from the recovery disc. I purchased a Windows 7 upgrade and installed it on my laptop and my Desktop which is a 64 Bit system. It seemed to have loaded correctly but noticed yesterday that I got a message that I needed to activate Windows. So I entered the Product Key # and it kept saying that I needed to re-enter or buy a new program. I can't understand why it keeps saying it when I do have the product key. I never got the message on Vista so what is the system not recognizing ? I woud hate to either re-format my system and reload the Vista program and then upgrade again or have to buy another Windows 7 program. Is there an easier way ?

A:Windows 7 activation

You have to purchase another copy of Windows for the computer you can not activate. You will get a new key and you can input that to activate.

Keys are only good for one machine.

Hi all!

I have got another question for you!
I found this one the site where i want to buy W7:

Translation:
Activation of Windows 7 is not possible when it is a different language than the already installed version of Windows. E.G. Dutch Windows Vista to Windows 7 in english is NOT possible.

Activation of Windows 7 is not possible when the bit versions dont match, e.g. 32-bits to 64-bits or the other way round is NOT possible.

The first criterium is nota problem. Vista (dutch) to 7 (dutch), so thats okay!
But, I want to upgrade from 32 bit to 64!
I know the installation is possible (clean install)
But, will I be able to activate my 64 bit Windows 7?!
Please help me!

A:Windows 7 activation!

Yes, your key will work and activate on 32bit or 64bit, just not both at the same time.

Hi Everybody,

I updated to Windows 10 last week from what I thought was an activated version of windows 8.1, but now I'm stuck with an "Activate Windows" watermark in the bottom right of my screen (which goes over everything, not just the desktop) and I was wondering if in order to activate windows I could just buy a new product key, or would I need to re-install windows with the new product key. If anyone could give me any other idea of how to resolve my problem I would be truly grateful.

A:Windows 10 Activation Help

First thing to try is to activate it using your windows 8.1 key (change product key) from activation menu.

Use showkeyplus to extract 8.1 key if you do not know it.

I have a valid product code but Microsoft say I have to buy a new Windows OS at ?75 .

Has anyone else experienced this and what have you done about it??i

A:Re: Windows 7 activation

The question is: which OS version do you use?
If you use original OS version that you got with your machine (recovery image) product registration is not necessary.

Many people use original Microsoft installation disc and try to activate it with product key from Microsoft sticker placed on the bottom side of the notebook. This will not work. This product key belongs to the original recovery image ? version delivered with the notebook.

Have you installed own OS version on your notebook?

More than one and a half years ago, I purchased a Lenovo laptop for a new employee who, after working for four months, left the company. The laptop has since been sitting idle most of the time. Two days ago, I turned it on. I believe I saw a message saying the Windows 8.1 Pro will expire in May. I haven't seen that message since.

What kind of a license does the laptop have that will expire in one and a half years?

I need help with Windows XP home edition. Recently I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled my Windows XP software home edition Pack 1. Everything seems to be working fine except with the activation of my product. The activation Icon is displayed on taskbar notifying me of amount of days remaining for activating my windows. When I click on the Icon, the activation window is displayed with a message that my Windows is already activated? However, the activation Icon continues to count down the days. What do I have to do to fix this problem. I really don't want to reinstall windows again. Is there a number where I can talk with a Tech for help.

Thank you,
