unable to view digital images from floppy drive

Q: unable to view digital images from floppy drive

I am unable to view digital images that I load to a floppy disk. I insert the floppy in the 'A' drive, then click on my computer, then the 'A' drive. When I try to open the
image number that is displayed I get this
message: Program not found. Windows cannot find mvc-093f ( this is not the correct
# of the image displayed) This program is needed for opening files of type 'JPG files'. Location of mvc-093f.jpg:
C: drive. When I download the images to postmypic they appear. How can I delete this
reference to mvc-093f being in 'C' drive?
Help!
Thanks, Mike in Dallas

Preferred Solution: unable to view digital images from floppy drive

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: unable to view digital images from floppy drive

Do you normally view them in a browser window? Try this. Put in the floppy whose pics you can't open and then go into Windows Explorer and click on your A drive so that the files appear in the right pane. While holding the shift key down right click on one of the .jpg files and select 'Open With' on the menu. When the Open With screen pops up scroll down and click once on Iexplore to highlight it and then place a check in the little box where it says "always use this program etc..." then click ok. Now the pics should open in a browser window.

I'm trying to use a " Help Directory " in a program but am unable to view any related images, All I get is a window with a small check box. Reviewing the properties gives me the following information,ms-its:help_imgs.chm::196 Series of transitions.png.

On a few occasions I'll have the same problem while surfing in FF or Chrome browser. Not sure on the file extension for these.

Is there something to check-uncheck to fix this. I'm using Win Seven.

They have done all the usual, checked settings, disabled internet security (Ad blocking) and even unchecking "Use compressed graphics" in the WWW preference area as mentioned in a post here somewhere.

Any suggestions? They are using AOL I think both the users having problems.

Hello,

I am looking for some help with a topic that is quite new to me. I am by no way computer illiterate but digital cameras are kind of new to me.

I am using a Canon EOS 20D and am struggling to be able to view any RAW files. When I say that I can't view them I really mean that I can't view them when I open the folder on the camera through windows I can see the folder where I would expect to see some files, the folder is empty.

I understand that windows does not natively support the viewing of RAW files and that some post processing has to take place so here is what I have done.

I have installed Adobe Photoshop CS2 and updated the RAW plugin to 3.6 and when I browse to the camera and open the folder where I would expect to see the files there is nothing, I also get the same result through the Adobe Bridge. I have also tried to copy the folder from the camera to my desktop and trying again but I get the same results.

I have now tried installing Microsoft RAW image thumbnailer and viewer for windows XP (Version 1.0 Build 50)

I get the same thing with this when I open the folder on the camera and if I copy it to my desktop.

I am able to view the RAW images on the camera's LCD display.

If I set the camera to take pictures in a Jpeg format then I can see the pictures through windows, Adobe photoshop and Adobe bridge.

I really don't know where I'm going wrong and I would appreciate some help and or advice.

With the camera plugged in, go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager are there any devices with yellow flags? Or under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? If so, right click and Uninstall it, unplug the camera and reboot the computer. When it comes up, plug the cameras USB into the Back USB port of the computer not the front.
Go to your G/F's computer with the camera plugged in and go to the Device Manager there and see how the camera is recognized.
If there are no yellows or unknowns, take a screenshot of Device Manager in the troubled computer with USB expanded and attach it in your next post.

So lately, within the last month, I've been having trouble viewing some Tinypic images. I've tried the ones that wont show in all my browsers (Chrome, IE, Safari, and FF), but with no luck. In the top of the browsers it always shows 1x1, and I see nothing at all. It's gotten consistently worse over the last month, and I can see very few Tinypic images now. I can see Photobucket and Imageshack just fine. My first thought what that perhaps it was a particular server that those images were uploaded to, but checking URLS that doesn't seem to be it as they're from many different ones.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I run Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2, all things are up to date. I have Kaspersky, and a firewall but I have not changed any settings between the time when it worked and now when it doesn't. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite from 2007, and it's a lemon. So I'm thinking this just has to be another one of it's issues.

A one pixel image? If so, you'll need a really clean screen and really, really good eyesight to see it. How about an example URL so we can see (or not see)?

Assuming they are .jpg and not .cdr files I suggest you open the folder ( within explorer) the pic's are stored in, then choose view, then select Thumbnails. See if that works.

Hi, hopefully this will be an easy one for someone. I just formatted and reinstalled everything. When I open "some" emails in aol, I can't view any "online images". Where as, I have a box with a red "X" in the top left hand corner. I can't right click on it to view or change any settings. If I send it to my sbc account in Outlook, I can view it. Some emails in outlook are also doing the same. If I open up IE7, everything there is fine..Now the even crazier part. This does it on all 3 of my computers, all in the same way. The only think I have on all 3 computers in common, is Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007. I have disabled it or closed it and it still happens....Any takers?????

A:unable to view images in outlook or aol

Hey,

Either in the PC Cilin or in your security options in Outlook or AOL, you've disabled pictures it seems. Search through there and see if there is an option to enable them. Should be able to view after that.

Also with O2 Broadband.

I have one machine on XP (FF3 and IE7 can't view the images), another on win2k (IE6 and FF3 can't view the images) even my wii can't using opera so i would assume this points at O2.

I have discoverde that changing the the DNS settings will make these sites work. Perhaps use someone like OpenDNS www.opendns.com

Hi,

This is my first time posting on a forum, so kindly excuse any mistake.

I frequently face a problem with my home internet connection where twitter images do not load properly. This happens both on Win7 Professional (64 bit) laptop as well my iPhone 4s. Sometimes twitter works perfectly fine but more than often, some of the images fail to load.

It works perfectly fine when I am connected to my office wifi, or tethered to my iPhone hotspot, or accessing twitter on my phone using the 3G data plan.

I have switched off my wifi and directly connected my laptop to the modem. My ISP's local technical rep has also replaced the ADSL modem. I have tried using Google DNS and OpenDNS, but still continue to face the same problem. Since this is not a 'critical' problem like internet completely not working, the ISP is probably not giving it all its attention.

I don't know if this helps, i had run namebench on my connection and had got a common error on all the DNSs
twitter.com appears incorrect
google.com is hijacked

I am slightly OCD in that it irritates me to see even a small error, so want to help the tech rep solve this. Or at least identify the issue so that i can tell the ISP to correct it. Hope you guys can help me out. Thanks in advance.

Hello all, I know this might not be a big thing to most, but hear's the problem...I've got an HP ZV5340US notebook (I know, just the letters HP have you cringing right about now) that has everything but a floopy drive. So I purchase a generic, no name USB floppy drive, boot-up the laptop, connect the cable, windows recognizes it and installs drivers for it and everythings ok...not. after slipping it a floppy and accessing the drive, I get a familiar message stating the floppy is not formatted...would you like to format now? At first, I say no, and then get a message stating the drive can not read the disc. Take the disc out and re-insert, get the same message, only this time clicking yes in answer to the format question...only to be greeted with a "can not format disc" message.

My question is did I get a piece of junk or do I need to enable something within Windows XP Home Ed. or it's registry? The floppies I tried are read/written to without a problem on another laptop that has a built-in floppy drive. I've also tried both the drivers XP loaded when it recognized the new hardware AND the drivers that came via CD with the drive.

Hi there,
I have a Canon digital camera (IXUS 40), but when I plug it in to my PC via a USB chord it only shows up in My Computer as: Canon Digital IXUS 40 - with no drive letter or description that it is a removable disk.

I have search through the forums here and in google but have not come across an answer as to how to assign a drive letter to my camera when I plug it in.

The reason I need the drive letter is a sad tale. After returning from a recent holiday from the USA, my wife thought that she would try to adjust the focus (don't ask) on the camera. So she went into the menu on the camera and reformatted the memory card. What the memory card and the focus have in common only my wife knows.

So the upshot is, I have been looking at some of the recovery software that is out there to see if I can retrieve some photo's, but all the one's that I have found seem to require the camera having a drive letter or being listed as a removable disk.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello everyone. I know there's probably been posts similar to mine, but I have not learned all I wanted from previous posts. Recently, my hard drive gave out on my XP computer. The issue seems to be that it will not be read as a master drive, but will run fine as a slave on my other XP computer. That being said, I can view the general program files, ect. on the drive when viewed with Explorer in my Computer, but cannot access my pictures and music and such. As mentioned in similar post, the same amount of usage is being reported, but not all of that data is viewable or present. How can I access my pictures and music? (I understand from other posts that it might have something to do with it being password protected if my previous computer installation of XP was password protected?)

User Permissions

Its more down to user permissions, you dont have permission to access it, Personally i would take the hard drive and slip it in a computer with windows 7, then reset the permissions to whicherever user i want ( this is done by right clicking the drive/folder and changeing under the permissions tab)

God luck

If those are your only options then something has happened to your drive and the partition has been wiped. Your only option is to create a new volume and start again. I would then run HD Tune and check to see if the drive is failing

Ok I have a self-built computer...it's a year old just a few days ago.

Win XP SP2 (I think)
Intel Quad-Core 2.4ghz [OCed to 3.2ghz)
RAM 4gb [2.5gb detected]
HDD- Western Digital 160GB and not sure which company could be Maxtor 500GB SATA
8800GT 512mb Video Card

I have an IDE drive on there too with an Apple OSX installed on it.

but

I've been hunting viruses and trojans [due to a backdoor trojan that] for the last few days and elimintated most of them including the backdoor. I was running a 'thourough' scan today while I was at school as well as downloading some things. MY anti-virus program is avast!

Thinking my comps quad-core 3.2ghz could handle the load I turned on Company of Heroes while all this was running....the comp froze...I restarted manually.

The first screen I got is the usual one except under SATA Channel listings it said Floppy disk(s) fail (40)....I don't have a floppy drive.

Then when I press F1 to continue it doesn't load up my main hardrive where Windows is installed. Like it doesn't detect it....it only detects the IDE drive with Apple on it and can start it up.

Don't ask me how I have an Apple OS on my comp the answer might violate the forums rules...but that OS isn't the problem.

Somehow the anti-virus scan mixed with downloading and a video game crash messed things up. Even F8 doesn't work.

A:[SOLVED] Floppy Disk Fail(40)...but I have no floppy drive..no startup

The BIOS was reset to default values. Enter the BIOS at startup and change the boot order priority to the sata hdd first. Locate the screen with the setting for the floppy drive and set that drive to disabled or none. If there's a setting called halt on disk errors change it to "no errors but keyboard" or something like that. Once you're back within windows run chkdsk c: /R to correct errors in the file system caused by the hard restart (answer y when prompted to schedule the scan at next startup and restart the computer).

What's the brand, model and wattage of your power supply ? The freezing wasn't necessarily caused by the antivirus, could have been caused by an underpowered power supply. With an overclocked quad core and a 8800GT you need a quality 700W+ supply. Locate the hardware monitor screen in the BIOS and report your temps, fan speeds and voltages.

I have images from my digital camera stored on my laptap. I am concerned that some of these images have either been uploaded to the internet or sent in an email. I found a personal image in a file for the internet explorer but don't know how it got there. Is there any way I can find out if these images have been sent and also where they have been sent to.

A:digital images.

What OS are you using?

Assuming they were sent from your laptop you could check the sent mail folder in your email software to see if there's any trace. If the photos were sent maliciously the sender might have deleted the email from sent mail, of course, so it's worth also checking deleted mail, unless that, too, was deleted.

I've never uploaded images to the Internet so I don't know how to track that..unless the history has not been deleted and you can identify any possible sites from the list.

But if it was sent from your laptop, you might also think about who has had access to it. Did you leave the computer on and unattended for a while? If you have to logon with a password, does anybody else know that password? Does anybody else have access to the machine with their own password?

Also, seems like I keep losing the positioning of the picture (network diagram created using autoshapes and MS Draw)

The above problem is not document specific but reflects in all docs files.

Also, in another document, when I double click embedded equations (written using equation editor on another PC), equation editor doesn't launch itself neither is there any error message. This problem is document specific.

I am unable to view diagrams in normal view. Application is Word 2003 9.0.6926 SP3

Print Layout view is fine.

In the format Object -> Layout -> Wrapping Style (inline with Text) is greyed out.

Printing of the document is also fine..it's just the problem with Normal view.

Anyone..any ideas?? Please advise!!Click to expand...

I had problems with pictures not getting displayed at all. I could only see blank screen and ocassional picture. This problem was solved by reducing the hardware accelaration. This can be done by display properties->settings->troubleshoot->hardware acceleration. Try lowering it to halfway or less and see if this solves the problem. It solved my problem.

Hi there,

You might want to consider a System Restore if this is a recent occurrence.

Using the System File Checker (sfc scannow) would be my next suggestion.

Hi, I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro SP2 on my Compaq CQ62-423NR laptop.

I use this laptop for work. It came with Windows 7 Home Premium. During the past few days, a computer on our company's network was infected with a virus. It spread to our company's network drive (NAS) and infected many of the files. When I used my computer to access the network drive, the virus infected my computer, and for some reason, AVG wasn't able to detect the virus until it was too late. I.T. has restored the network drive from a backup, and all ordered everyone to restore from a clean backup or reinstall Windows. I have made backups before, but they were stored on the computer's hard drive and I.T. says the backups may be infected, so I can not use them.

It's been a long time since the warranty expired. HP doesn't want to let me order recovery media. Then I made a dumb move and deleted the Windows 7 partition, hoping to be able to install Windows XP. But there was a problem with that.

If I simply boot from the installation CD, a BSoD (STOP) appears. After some research, I found out this is because my laptop's hard drive has AHCI and there is no option in the BIOS (InsydeH20 Rev 3.5) to disable it.

I read somewhere that I can either use a floppy drive to load the AHCI drivers before installation, or slipstream the ISO/install CD and add the AHCI drivers to the list of drivers that come built-in.

Since I'm trying to install Windows XP on a lapt... Read more

I recently built a system with an Intel 955 Motherboard. All is well, except for one curious thing - the floppy drive activity light is always on, from the moment of startup, even before WinXP loads, and the system can't read a floppy. It just keeps requesting that I insert a floppy into my a: drive. It does not sound like the floppy spindle is running, and there are no solenoid-like clicks when I insert the floppy as though the system is trying to read it, just the mechanical "snap" of the eject spring.

Any thoughts? Did I miss something in BIOS? I tried 2 different, brand-new floppy drives and they both act the same way. I've never encountered this before.

The chances are, you`ve not installed the floppy drive/cable correctly.

Look Here for floppy drive installation instructions.

Hi All,

Here is the low down. I cant boot into any OS.

I formatted my PC and figured that after installing XP i'd dual boot Ubuntu (9.04).
So all went well, XP and Ubuntu installed as anticipated i could access both OS' for a couple of hours.

When i was in Ubuntu, i was trying to change my primary monitor (22") to have the toolbar instead of my 19".
I went on Ubuntu forums to see what had to be done, and i needed to reboot for the changes to take effect.

After i rebooted, it didnít list any of my 2 hard drives (150gb raptor, 1tb Samsung) or my Asus DVD/CD drive.

My motherboard (Nvidia 680I) stated 7F which only says in the manual as "Check POST error and display them and ask user intervention".
Well, the lovely post error comes up as:

floppy disk(s) fail (40) Click to expand...

floppy disk(s) fail (40)
Real helpful right? And considering i have NO floppy drive...(its a custom built PC)
And i have two options, F1 to continue and DEL for BIOS.

I checked BIOS first, reset to default, removed floppy drive from the boot menu, rebooted, same issue.

Hit F1 to continue now, and the only bootable option is the NVIDIA Boot Agent and comes up with this:

NVIDIA BOOT AGENT 231.0528
PXE-E61: MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE
PXE-M0F: EXITING NVIDIA BOOT AGENTClick to expand...

This goes on a continuous loop, failing every time. I've checked all cables and it all seems fine.
Now i cant even access my CD/DVD drive (completely disabled) which... Read more

I'm trying to build my first computer and I think I've got things setup right, but whenever I try to boot up I get the a message on the screen saying Floppy Disk(s) Fail (40). The Problem is that I don't have a floppy drive and my computer only gives me about one to five secs. (depending how long I wait between boot attempts) to get into the BIOS and try to do anything. the motherboard I am working with is a EVGA nForce 680i SLI motherboard and it uses Pheonix-Award BIOS. Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Floppy Disk(s) Fail (40) error but I don't have a floppy drive

You need to get into the BIOS and Disable Floppy drives. It should be on the same screen as the basic set-up.
Also take it out of the Boot sequence.

I just bought a digital camera(Olympus D-460). I have taken a few pictures and have been trying to print them. My printer is a Canon BJC 2110. I am printing the pics on plain paper so i know they're not going to be high quality but the person in the picture comes out good and the background is almost all white. I have tried every option there is on the printer but nothing helps. I thought maybe i needed a better printer but if the printer will print the person it should print the background too, right? ANY help would be appreciated, thanks.

I need a fast and reliable means of backing up 20 gigabytes of digital photos.

Have any great suggestions? I have a CD Burner and also a DVD burner (though slow and limited to 4.7GB a disk - expensive, but better than losing pics).

What will compress them without any problems with image quality/de-compression...?

Thanks a lot.

Raeba

A:Need to Backup 20GB of Digital Images

Nothing will, if they are already in a compressed format.

Any compression can only lose quality, as .jpg images are already a compressed format. Zipping a compressed file saves nothing either.
