PC not working at home, but working at PC Store

Q: PC not working at home, but working at PC Store

Hi!

So, I recently bought a new gaming pc. The thing is, when they tried the pc at the store, everything worked well. It passed 3DMark with flying colours and it seemed ok.

Now the thing is, the pc reboots itself when I'm using it at home gaming or anything intensive. So far it lasted without rebooting for 29 min playing FFXIV, 27 for AC3 and more than 40 for LoL. I've run the Prime95 test (in all modes) and it rarely lasts more than 4-5 minutes before it restarts itself. When that happens, there's no BSOD, it just goes completely off, and restarts. No warning. Nada. Sometimes it restarts itself 3-4 (even 7 times) in a row. I ran some memtest to check my memory but they both were good.

I haven't overclocked anything. I brought it to the shop already like 3-4 times but they cannot reproduce the error because it won't restart itself there, I've been personally at the shop today gaming there and running tests and it never restarted. Right now, it's been there for 6 hours running Prime95 without crashes.

At the beginning I thought that maybe my power strip was broken or something, but then I tried the new pc in my bro's bedroom with his power strip and the same happened. And then I tried it with the PSU plugged directly into the wall and everything else to the power strip and the same happened.

I'm completely lost on what to do so any help will be welcomed.

My set up:

GPU : GTX 970
CPU : i5 4690 3.5ghz
PSU : Xilence Redwing R3 Modular 1000W
MoBo: Gigabyte Z97-HD3
CPU freezer: Arctic Freezer 13
OS: Windows 7 SP1 Proffesional
All drivers up to date.

Thanks for your time

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/...esktop-connections-or-sessions-in-windows-xp/

And a couple of months after I got it working it just stopped working all of a sudden, and the "terminal services" disappeared out of the services manager, and I tried to reinstall in twice and it still will not show up, I don't know what to do besides reformat.

I have windows Xp Home SP2 (I didn't upgrade past that because it works and works better than last time I had sp3, So I'm just going to leave it for now.

A:Windows 10 App Store not Working

Hi @NavinVerma ,Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6 Notebook and the error code is 0x80072EFD appearing as you are trying to use the Windows 10 App Store. Here is a link to Microsoft that indicates there is an update needed.  You could  try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix any updates that have not come through for Windows 10.  Please restart the Notebook twice to make sure all update have been completed! Here is a document that shows how to update drivers that are not working correctly with Windows 10. If you are running a virus protection program, try to temporarily disable it.  If that does not help right click on the Windows Store app and uninstall it. Then reinstall it.I hope this helps.Thanks.

Hey...
I got a problem with my core apps like weather and so... I can't manage to open them. They would not open at all. When I click them nothing happens. Before I had this user account control, or how it's called, disabled. It told me to reactivate it so I can use them. And I did so. Now after restart nothing happens. So solutions would be appreciated. They don't work on Microsoft website either (app store).

Please can someone help..

I have an iPOD probably like most people. Anyhow I am transferring bought CDs onto iPOD. Normally iTunes detects the name of artist, album and song on CD. But last week or so it has not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but it still doesn't work properly. When I try to open the iTunes Store the following error message comes up:-

iTunes couldn't connect to the iTunes STore. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.

My connection is active.

I ran a network diagnostics on iTunes and what I noticed is that the DHCP from the DNS is not enabled. I don't know what DHCP stands for but I have do have a feeling that this is the problem. I asked a friend of mine who also has iTunes and he told me that his DHCP DNS is enabled. How can I enable this?

Like I said it used to work but lately it hasn't. Why is this? It worked briefly on Friday afternoon but then the after that day it didn't work anymore. I have tried to troubleshoot the problem through iTunes, but their recommendations don't help.

I have a Dell Dimension 9150. It runs Windows XP Home Edition.

Something I copy & pasted a while back(can't remember from where:

58.Solve Store problems
Installing or updating Windows 8 apps normally takes only a moment, but if yourPC just can't do either any more then there are several potentialcauses.
A corrupted Store cache is one of the more likely candidates, for instance, but fortunately Microsoft has provided a tool to help.Press Win+R, type wsreset and press Enter, and the Store cache will be cleaned for you.
If Windows Update is broken or disabled then you'll also have app problems. Launch the Control Panel Troubleshooting applet (pressWin+W, type trouble, and click "Troubleshooting") and click"Fix problems with Windows update" to detect and resolveany issues.

Also you can open an admin command prompt and run:

Code:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&sfc/scannow&Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc/scannow&pause

A:Windows Store not working

Karin, I got the same error when I was trying to download free apps from the store on my Lenovo running W 8.0.
I decided to update with Windows 8.1, hoping that would solve the problem.
After installing 8.1, the Store would revert back to the Start Screen after one second.
I posted the problem here, but I made no progress until I found the thread with the title:

Store - Re-register in Windows 8 and 8.1

After upgrading to Windows 8.1, the Store may not start at all.
1. Open a command prompt.

2. In the command prompt, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter. (see screenshots below)

Code:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML

This allowed me to visit the Windows Store.
It has been working for several days now, so it looks like it was my solution.
You may want to try the fix before installing W 8.1 like I did.
Good luck.

Hi, the only known way currently is to do an in-place repair install. The powershell command that used to be used to reinstall/re-register these now breaks them in build 10586.

This has been repeatedly encountered and reported here.
Please see:

- will disable system restore
- will keep all progs & data
- may lose the odd association
- may need to reconnect WiFi

Hello.

My girlfriend is having this weird problem with her App Store in Windows 8 x64 Release Preview. In the starting Store screen the apps are there (for example the "cut the rope" game), but whenever trying to search for them (either with search function or by clicking on "top free", etc buttons it doesn't list anything besides Xbox Live Games app.

She does already have a Xbox Live profile set up and the Xbox Live app installed (though I have no idea if it is a requirement for anything).

On my laptop (with my account) the store functions normally, but on her desktop she only has the apps that appear on the front page which is annoying.

Does anyone know what's up? I don't recall having to do anything on my laptop for the store to work normally.

Thanks

Hi. I'm new here, so I hope this is in the right place and not a repeat thread. (I couldn't find anything.)

I bought a new laptop yesterday, an HP 2000 Notebook. I was able to start it up and get all the updates installed without any problems. However, I haven't been able to get the Windows 8.1 download from the store.

The store opens, but nothing happens when I click on any of the tiles. Nothing loads or changes. The only thing I can access is the "App Updates" located in the top right hand corner, but I can't seem to do anything there either. (I tried to clear the available updates it lists, but they stay there.)

I've tried accessing the store from the Microsoft site, but it never gets passed the loading screen when I do.

This is my first time using Windows 8, so maybe I'm missing something, but could someone help me out? Thanks.

OK, here's a weird one.....

I have Windows 8.1 installed on VM Player and never had a problem. Now, for some odd reason the App Store keeps telling me there's a connection problem and won't open.... it's acting as though there is no internet connection, which of course there is as I can access the internet and other live tiles, just not the app store. And I know the apps store is up and running because on my Windows 8 (not 8.1) laptop, the store opens just fine.

Is there a current issue going on with the apps store and 8.1?

Oh, and now the other weird it's not bringing up apps, but now, when you click on them, you still get the apps store isn't working

Thanks.

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Welcome ! 10 seconds is not that bad for PC start up but it may be faster considering this computer's tech specs.  Most probably it is due to the installed software (program which are preloaded on the computer OR some program you installed later).   Please, provide log of HJT app so that I see what software is installed on your machine and what runs with it.Download Trend Micro's HiJackThis app:https://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/ Save and run the exe file. Click on "Do a scan and save log file" buttonAfter scan, if a log file pops up in Notepad - that is excellent. Hi all,

So recently the Windows Store has stopped working for me (Win 8.1 Pro). By not working, I mean that whenever I try to install an app, I get the following error message:

Your purchase couldn't be completed
Something happened and your purchase can't be completed. Error code: 0x80240017.

Furthermore, apps are not updating automatically, and a manual check reveals no updates available. That being said, I know for a fact that my Facebook and OneNote apps are out of date, since they have both changed on my other computer. As a test, I uninstalled the OneNote app, and now I can't re-install it.

So far I've tried:
The apps troubleshooter.
The windows update troubleshooter.
WSReset.exe
SFC.exe (no violations found)

Thoughts? Because I've run out of them.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I?m responsible for multiple computers for our youth work. All windows 10 computers with multiple local users (administrators). Clean installed at the beginning of January.

Windows 10 drives me kind of crazy, cause on a very regular base Store apps stop functioning. I?ve had troubles with the calculator app, the photos app and the store itself. One fine day a user starts the pc and calculator/photo or store app does not work any longer. The app appears in the search result, but it?s icon is white. And under it the text ?desktop app?. I?m not kidding: the store pretends to be a desktop app.

I read some other posts on your forum about not working apps. But ?my? apps think they are desktop programs.

Then not all the users on the pc have the problem. Most of the time it?s okay for one user, and for all the other users it is corrupt.

I found a work around: make a new user. And for the new user all apps are present.

But I kind of get a fulltime job creating new users and giving the user it?s documents and it?s settings back.

Does anybody know a way to PREVENT the loss of functionality of the modern apps?
Does anybody know a way to REPAIR the broken modern apps? I found some Powershell magic on the internet, but that did not help.

I?d be very grateful for any help.
Koen

Use this tutorial:
Apps - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 8 and 10

Do it on one computer first and use Step #2...To Reinstall and Re-Register All Windows Apps for Current Account Only
If it works and no ill effects, then you can use Step #3 on all the computers.

Like the title says, something happened. I don't really know what.
I can open the store and search for apps but when I try to click on an app to see more info, I get this screen. Tried a bunch of stuff such as changing locale, fixing corrupted files and whatnot. Nothing helped. And that sucks, considering the 8.1 update will be released tomorrow and I won't be able to access it.. Any kind of help will be appreciated.

There are a number of postings about apps not working. This is hardly unexpected. However, what is unexpected is that, mainly after the November update, a number of people are reporting a major issue with not one or two but a host of apps, failing or disappearing altogether. I have seen from other forums this is a widespread problem, with symptoms which are remarkably similar.

Personally I have lost 'core apps' such as People, Photos, Camera, Messaging, Skype, Films and TV, Calculator, Maps, and the Store itself. It is mainly but not only Microsoft's own apps which are affected. I have lost some important third party apps: WiFi Analyser, WinOpener, etc.

I think it is not unreasonable to say my OS is severely damaged. Fortunately I can still use email and browsers.

I have (for the first time) used a Windows Power Shell command to re-install / re-register apps, both via WinFix and directly. It has not worked. The reason why Power Shell cannot re-install / re-register apps, is in every case stated as "Package could not be registered because there was a merge failure." Meaning?

I have a weird Other list at the bottom of All Apps showing (in my case) nine none-functioning apps, all of which are named strangely like this: "@Microsoft.People_xyz" ---- xyz is a very long mainly numeric code. In a few cases these names appear on none-functioning tiles.

None-functioning Groove Music is listed like that, but is referred to as 'Zune Music'!

About three days ago, all new style apps stopped working. I click on the tile, get a deep blue screen, and nothing else. On the left side of the screen, I can see the app as if it is working (just the name of the app, not content), so I can close the window and get back to desktop. The same applies to the STORE app. The only tiles that work, are the links to desktop applications, which open correctly on the desktop. The fault also affects all windows system apps. For example if I search on the start screen for "windows update", I can access "Windows update" as it just opens a window on the desktop, but if I click on "Windows update settings" nothing happens. The same is true with all windows system apps that open in the new start screen system. I've uninstalled two Microsoft updates that were installed over the past three days, no change. I uninstalled AVAST, no change, so I reinstalled it! I tried restoring the system, but found that I had only one restore, and that was corrupted. Very strange. Without access to many windows system apps, the computer is really limited. The desktop seems to be working OK. I have been searching for two days for ideas on line. In a few places I've seen similar problems, but no solutions. I can't refresh the PC, as firstly it is a system app that runs from the start screen, and secondly because I upgraded from win 8 to 8.1 online, this can't be done anyway, as I don't have a disc. I'm really trying to avoid reinstal... Read more
