Y50-70 wifi does not work with one specific wifi router

Q: Y50-70 wifi does not work with one specific wifi router

Hello guys, I'm new here, and I know that this sounds like a duplicate thread, but I couldn't find anything similar to this one. I have said laptop with the Intel wireless card (7260) running Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04. I'm on the go quite often so I have connected to several wifi routers with no issues. And there is my home. I am rarely here, but when I get here I can connect to my wifi router (2.4 GHz), but often experiencing unusually high pings (above 1000 ms). This happens on both OS-esI have the latest wireless driversIn Windows Device Manager I set everything I could to max the wifi performanceNo other device has this issue (two laptops, two smartphones, an USB wifi stick on my home network (not simultaneously of course))The environment should not be an issue. The router is 6-7 meters away, with two walls between the router and the laptop. I have an older Lenovo laptop next to this one (G580) and it has no issues at all. The laptop does not have this issue with other devicesThe issue is with the connection between the laptop and the router (I tried reaching the router's config site, same slowness)The network properties say that my connection link's speed is 27/27 MBPS, sometimes less, sometimes more, but I always have a strong signal There is only one other wifi router nearby and that's on a different channel. It is starting to get really annoying, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Y50-70 wifi does not work with one specific wifi router

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have issues connecting my Laptop to the Wifi router in my house, however, there are no issues connecting to other routers? You would therefore assume that the issue lies with the router at my house. However, every other device and laptop connects to the router at my house with no issues at all. So it seems to be specific to the combination of my laptop and the router at my house. I have been having these issues ever since I downloaded Windows 10. I fixed it initially by downloading an old driver for the Wifi on my laptop. This fix lasted for about 3 months but since the latest windows update, the issue has come back. The issue is intermittent wifi where it shows I am connected to the Wifi but then the internet doesn't work. It says "DNS probe cannot be found" when running troubleshooter and then it resets the wifi on my laptop. This can temporalily fix it, sometimes for 2 seconds. Sometimes for 2 hours. But then the issue comes back. Does anyone have any clue what the issue might be or how I might fix it? Sometimes, when I run the troubleshooter, it says that I have missing protocols. But then this doesn't happen every time. I have tried a variety of fixes that I have read up on in forums but none seem to work permantly. One thing I haven't tried is a clean install of windows 10 which is something I am very reluctant to do and also, have my doubts as to whether it would actually resolve the issue.
Many thanks,

A:Wifi issue specific to my laptop and home wifi

It all depends on location, location, location. Some Gateways are just garbage. If you are not getting a strong enough signal, get an Access Point. Also you need to make sure that you are not on a congested channel, which is usually Channels 6 & 11 for 2.4 Ghz units.

I recently bought dlink D2750U WIFI ADSL modem/router, for my ADSL internet connection.

But I have now changed my ISP, who provide internet via cable(not telephone line). The ISP guy provides a cable modem(old modem) along with it.

I have connected my PC this way:
Cable modem -> Router -> PC through RJ45. I am able to access internet from my PC, but I am not able to get wifi working on the router. And I am logging onto internet through a dial up connection.
1) Please help in configuring the router to get wifi working.
2) Also, my default gateway seems to be either or blank. So, I am not able to login to the modem unless I remove the modem connection. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong here.

Here are a few more details:
Output of ipconfig: http://pastebin.com/Zr9Eb7L7

A:Using dlink D2750U Wifi Modem/Router As a Wifi Router

Hey Narain. The D-Link unit you have appears to be a combo unit (modem and wireless router) since it connects straight to the RJ-11 phone line. This unit won't work with an ISP that provides service by way of coax cable. The D-Link will work if you want to use DSL, but you need a cable service compatible modem or combo modem/router if you use cable service.

Ok, here's my situation.

I have a client I'm dealing with and he wants a wireless webcam setup.

Windows XP 32bit desktop. Clean, works fine.

He has this cable modem
SMC Networks - SMC8014-BIZ EZ Connect

And this

ARRIS : Product Catalog : TouchstoneŽ Telephony Modem TM502G

Which are each hooked up to a split coaxial cable.

And this router
Linksys by Cisco - WRT54G Support

And this camera
Amazon.com: D-Link DCS-930L mydlink-Enabled Wireless N Network Camera: Camera & Photo

And wants the camera to go wireless, so he can login and remote-monitor.

I re-routed the connection from the SMC to the linksys, then from the linksys to the camera.

Everything lights up but it will not recognize the router or the camera when I type in the IP of either.

Camera requires plugging itself into the ethernet network upon installation.

I've tried many different solutions as well as calling tech support for the camera.

He is open to replacing any of the equipment if needed, but this would go much faster (and get me paid sooner) if I could get these devices to talk to each other.

Tried logging into the camera's IP, no dice. Tried logging into the modem, no dice.

Camera is recognized but will not complete setup and I haven't even gotten to the long-distance configuration stage yet.

Any ideas?

Been a tech for a while but have tried many solutions up to this point.

Please help!

A:Getting Linksys router & Wifi Cam to work.

Everything lights up but it will not recognize the router or the camera when I type in the IP of either.Click to expand...

This is with a computer connected to the Linksys router? Are you using dynamic addressing on the computer, and cannot access the router's config pages using the Default Gateway?

With a PC and the camera connected to the Linksys router, and the router connected to nothing else but electricity, please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Looking ahead for when we get this part working, what IP address subnet is the SMC modem/router using? If it is the same as the Linksys you will need to change one of them if you want to cascade the routers.

Hi all

I have a typical situation in my Internet and LAN setup. My ISP provides me with a direct LAN cable that I need to connect either into my PC or into the WiFi Router WLAN port. I also have a LAN that I need to connect to, so I have installed a separate LAN card for the internal LAN purposes. My two setups are below with their issues. I hope someone can suggest a middle grounds to have a LAN and a WiFi too.

Scenario 1:
The ISP cable goes into the WLAN port of the Router. Cables from the router goes into my PC network card 1 and to other PCs for LAN purposes. The PC cards are all configured to automatic IP. LAN / Internet / WiFi is now available. This works fine for a few days and then the internet stops working because there is a conflict of IP. The ISP expects IPs like 123.237.234.xxx and the one on the LAN / Router for my PC is

Scenario 2:
The ISP cable goes into network card 1 (internet sharing is enabled and automatic IP) with the ISP's expected IP 123.237.234.xxx. Another cable goes from my PC's network card 2 (fixed IP into the regular LAN port of the same Router. Without any issues over the months the Internet works, the LAN works (other PCs have fixed IPs too, etc) but no Wifi

Can I have best of both the worlds in such a situation? I can't install a 3rd network card for sure as the slot on the mother board is limited.

Please advise

Thanks in advance

A:Router to work as a WiFi on the LAN rather from a WLAN

isp==>(wan)router-->PC card-1, et al (conflict 123.237,234.xxx v

ISP===->pc card-1
pc card-2==>router
scenario-1 is a configuration or firmware condition
scenario-2 is a real security issue and the primary PC is basically acting as a DMZ server and is at risk.
Here's my setup:

isp==(wan)router-1--- PCs in the same room
+---(lan)router-2(with wifi) - - - wifi connections in the den

configuration to make this work with full file/print sharing:

disable DHCP in this router
setup all WiFi settings here
notice: router-2 wan slot is left empty to make this work

set LAN address of router one as you please (eg: )

set an address reservation for router-2's MAC -> a fixed, constant IP address on that same subnet (eg
set the DHCP range small (eg 2-32)
router-1 will control all auto-ip assignments for both routers.

Personally, I add another tweak;

reserve ip addresses for all of my devices into the low-end of the dhcp range (say 2-10) and
let 'guests' take addresses above 10
This gives the opportunity to allow file/print sharing to known systems (2-10) and disallow for the guests.

Setup totally within the routers allow my laptop to travel and not be effected by these choices.

I am looking to replace my tired Linksys WRT54G router that is about 10 years old. I love the router, and its even better with DD-WRT on it, but I'm starting to have troubles with the wifi dropping all the connects for a couple seconds when running all my wireless devices. I have 3 smart phones, 2 tablets, 1 Chromecast, a smart TV, and Roku + a laptop or 3 in my house right now, and it seems like its getting to be a bit much for it.
I have had to completely re-flash the firmware twice this year to get the wifi working again, so I'm thinking its time for replacement.
I have been thinking about just getting the new WRT54GL for $50, but I'm also thinking it might be a good idea to upgrade the wifi technology past wireless G .
I'm wondering if my Tablet (Nexu 9), and our smartphones (Razr HD Max) along with the Chromecast will take advantage of the new wireless standards and higher speeds or not? If they will can someone recomend a decent wireless router that takes DD-WRT nicely in the sub-$100 range? Thanks!

A:Looking for new Wifi Router - Will Tablet/Smartphone take advantage of new wifi Standards?

I been programming in Android/Linux since 2010 and there is code that supports VHT is Very High Throughput. Right now the standards are HT is High Throughput .

As for DD-WRT firmware is like your overclocking your router pushing it beyond the OEM limits. I use to use DD-WRT but had quit many years ago since the routers that used that firmware would fail too much.

So best to buy a better business type enterprise router wired then you can use WiFi router as AP or just get WiFi AP(access point). To me WiFi Router is also Wired Router, but to use just a wired router and use WiFi AP through a switch is better. If one or the other goes you can easy replace them. Where as if the WiFi Router fails you would need to replace it.

If you really want to use DD-WRT then Look at Buffalo WiFi Routers some come pre-installed with DD-WRT on them. Frankly you really don't need DD-WRT today because newer routers or WiFi routers are much better built and offer much more power NPU = network processor units and 128, 256, 512, 1GB of RAM some have Dual Cores.

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, hope I am posting this right.

I have a hp laptop which has Windows Vista Home prem, and a desktop with Window XP SP3, both have AVAST.

The Problem.

This started a few weeks, I am unable to access some websites on my laptop which is connected via wifi to my belkin router. The websites are general websites like "BUSINESSINSIDER" or " Wiki Answers", some forum, they are like normal website but some others like yahoo, youtube, streeteasy, realtor.com work fine but zillow doesn't come up. I usually use Opera browser which displays
the message :
" Could not locate remote server"

Chrome displays:

" Unable to access the network"

Error 21 (net::ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED): A network change was detected.

But most other websites work fine on the same wifi connection.

When I hardwire my laptop to the router or while using the desktop everything works fine all the websites work.

I have tried turning of the Web shield and network shield on the laptop when connected via wifi but no go.

Could really use some help and thank you for taking your time to read through this.

P.S: Please ask if you need additional info,

Where you live is your setup like this?

WiFi Router

If you want extend the WiFi you would get WiFi Access Point. Or you can take a WiFi Router and disable NAT, SPI, DCHP, then you create a static IP address. 192.168.x.50

I have been trying for some time to accomplish the title result. I'm not techie enough to do it.

What I want is to be able to use a Tablet to read in the rear of my home (which is out of range for incoming wifi signal.)

If I can set up the computer to do this, I will cable connect to a router in that area.
I have two computers and could use either.

1.a PC running XP (should update to windows 8.1, but have never bothered to do that, since XP works just fine. (I had this computer sharing to the router, when I had DSL internet connection, using Windows wizard to set it up) Couldn't get it to work when I switched to WIFI internet access) I could switch to win 7 or 8.1 if that would help.

2. a Lap Top running WIN 8.1,

Any help is appreciated.

A:Internet access via WIFI and share WIFI via second router

Due to the age of XP this is not the best option for what you want to do

Either windows 7 or 8.1 have access to Internet connection sharing (ICS) built in

To use ICS you need at least two connections to the local LAN, these can be any mix of wifi or Ethernet.

As you have a laptop you likely already have a system to use for this

There is a tutorial explaining the basics ... and more on this site

So I got a new router yesterday to replace the old one, and I've been working on it for a long time. But I can't seem to figure out why there isn't any internet connection. The new WiFi Router (D-Link DR-842) Shows it is connected to the internet (green light) but in the setup page, it says disconnected. Could the PPPoE details be causing this? As far as I know everything is correctly set up except for the internet part.

Hello forum people,

I have the following problem on my Toshiba Satellite R850 running Win7 64bit: I decided to change the wireless adapter so I can connect to the 5GHz wifi network my router provides which wasnt possible on the Atheros wireless adapter it came with. I changed it to a Intel Wireless AC 3160- the physical change went quick and without problems and while the adapter is basically working now the problem I'm facing now is that the F8-hotkey function to de-/activate the Wifi and Bluetooth is no longer working. When I press the hotkey button all the different hotkey combinations show up on the upper part of the screen, but now there's only F1-F7 and F9, F8 just went missing. Does anyone have any idea how to get it back?

Thanks in advance and take care

I'm having a problem that's been on and off with my.wifi for a while. I have a Yoga 2 Pro and the WiFi card seems to disappear completely and I can't get it back without removing all the batteries and leaving it a while. It's not like it needs a driver update, it totally disappears as if it's not even installed and won't show up in any OS or even under the "rfkill list command". It appears to be completely failing. Thing is I've swapped it out and it seems to be some part of the operation that mounts it that isn't working. I notice that it installs into the power board and not the motherboard. Would swapping this fix it? Does anyone have any ideas?

Actually my wifi adapter can catch all other wifi signal except my wifi router.

A:my notebook wifi adapter don't get my wifi router

There are several resons.1. The wifi signal might be too weak at the point where the computer is.2. Other device radiation/signals might be blocking it.3. Your router signal might be hodden (check EWS of router).4. Signal broadcasting might have been turned off on router. Since other signals are found on the computer, there shouldnt be a issue with your couputer.

I have a wireless adsl router in preparation for broadband arriving in our area soon (long story), and have some questions:

I have a laptop with wifi card and want to setup a home network with this, and my PC (plugged-in via LAN cable to the router).. laptop is XP, PC is Win2K
I can't seem to get this to work. one minute the PC can 'see' the laptop (in network neighbourhood) and then the other way round, but I can never access shared directories on either... is there a good guide somewhere to set this up?

Also, shouldn't I be able to use the router from the PC as if it were a wifi card?
i.e. on the laptop, once the wifi card is plugged in, it displays all wifi networks in the area and their signal strength etc.... how can I do this using the router/PC??

With the laptop I can connect to our neighbours wifi router and use their bradband connection, but I want to do the same from the PC.. is that possible?

Thanks in advance all..

(P.S. router is a D-Link DSL-604+)

I have a desktop computer but it definately has a wireless network card. i used to get windows updates for it and it just stopped working one day. when i look in the BIOS the only option related to booting a network card is B03 D00 Yukon PXE. no matter when i boot it i still dont get wireless signals. when i go into the boot menu and try to boot this device it says " PXE E61: media test failure please check cable" i have opened the tower and the card is securely in its slot. i thought i would workaround by getting a usb wifi card. I installed it and connected to the internet and it alternated between having a connection to the internet and being connected to the network but not the internet. even when it is connected to the internet i cannot reach any web pages. my dropbox desktop files update very slowly (7kb/s). when i am connected with the usb card the network stops working for everyone else in the house. they can no longer reach web pages or continue downloads. please help.

I have an HP pavillion desktop (s5360f) with Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n Dualband Wireless Module and D-Link router DIR-615. My numerous Laptops and iPhons / iPads work fine, but this desktop which is further away from the router (in another room, about 20 meters) only shows 1-2 bars of wifi. First I bought a big additional D-Link antenna (7Ghz) but it didn't really help - sometimes connction shows 3 bars. I was told this antenna should help a lot. Then I checked with my router settings and saw that the HP uses "g" connection when everything else uses "n". I even set it to only use "n" but still it shows the HP using "g". I updated the driver (Atheros for AR5B91), but it didn't help. I have "n" enabled in Atheros in Device manager.
Now I'm lost and can't think of anything else that can be a problem and / or how to fix it... I don't have any thick walls between the router and the HP, my iPhone seems to work in this room just fine...

Hi there

If you've a spare / old router which you can set up as a wifi bridge and connect a bit of LAN cable from Laptop into the Bridge router you'll generally get FAR better performance from even a cheap router.

Logic behind this is that most Wifi adapters are half duplex whereas a router is full duplex and throughput will be significantly better.

Another advantage is that you can still use 5 GHZ band even if your PC or whatever only can handle 2.4 GHZ wifi.

If your router doesn't have bridging facilities you can often do it by a firmware upgrade --for most routers try this :

www.dd-wrt.com | Unleash Your Router

Note --this is the Bridging router --not your main one that you use to connect to your ISP with --don't want to cause people to have inoperable boxes !!!!!.

I've found using a Router as a bridge far better than having to have loads of LAN cable all round the house --and also antennae in wifi routers are hugely better than most built in Wifi cards so you can in a lot of cases avoid extra slowdown caused by wifi extenders.

In my "man shed" -- a good 100 metres from the main house - could just about get 8 Mib/s on a very poor 2.4 GHZ wifi signal from the wifi card

Laptop now acceptable - still with 2,4 GHZ wifi but using "Bridged" method with an old EDIMAX wifi 4 port router. Around 70 Mib/s (still a lot slower by about 10X - I'm getting nearly 1Gb/s download in main house on 5 GHZ wifi --ISL has excellent Internet !!!... Read more

Hello. I already googled but still can't find the answer.Yesterday i was trying to network a pc and a laptop. The pc can go through the files of the laptop but the laptop can't. So I tried to fix the laptop (I am an intern i still dont know much) by going to Network and sharing (Windows 7 is the OS) and click some things. THen after that i can't connect to a specific wifi connection. I can still connect to others but there's this specific connection that i cant connect to. Other computers can connect to that wifi but i can't. what should i do? I am afraid because they might get angry with me when i am trying my best to help. Please help me. Thank you.

A:Can't connect to specific wifi, but others can

Post the error or what happens when you try to connect.

If however you're getting something like 'Unable to connect' when you try go to network and sharing center - > Manage wireless networks(top left corner) - > Find your network in the listed, right click it and remove it.

This will remove the saved information for that network. Now when you go to reconnect it should prompt you for the password and allow you to connect.

I'm running Windows 8.1, and I am getting a BSoD whenever I connect to the wireless at my University. In fact, in only happens in a specific building at my University, and happens more often in a certain room. If I use my WiFi in any other building, at home, or use a wired connection, then I am free from BSoDs.

The error message is:

"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. (x% complete)

If you'd like to know more, you can search online later for the error: DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL Smb driver Intel.sys"

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled my wireless adapter drivers, and also uninstalled and replaced some of my other drivers in the process.

I am not sure what is causing this problem, and how I could only be receiving BSoDs from connection to the WiFi in specific locations.

A:BSoD when using WiFi in Specific Locations

Try the latest wireless driver from the PC manufacturer's web site.

Try the driver directly from Intel's web site.

Hello everyone!
This is my first time posting here, I'm sorry if this is somehow in the wrong category, please let me know!
Anyways, I figured I would post my issue on here before trying to take it into a repair shop.
This is my problem:
Basically, my wifi works perfectly fine everywhere, except for at my mom's house and at my apartment.
My wifi was fine last year at my apartment, however, we switched routers this year and ever since it's been acting up the same way it does at my mom's house. What happens is every once in a while (sometimes it's every hour or so, sometimes if it's really acting up it's like every 10 minutes) my connection gets messed up, most of the time I get that little yellow exclamation point by my wifi icon but sometimes I don't get any indication of it other than my web page not loading. It's a quick fix-- all I have to do is turn my wifi (not my router) off and on again and my wifi will work again, however it's really really annoying to have to do this all the time, especially since we got a nicer router this year.

Since this problem started up for me again once we got a new router, I am inclined to believe it is something to do with the router, however, my roommates don't encounter this issue so it must be something to do with my laptop itself.
I am not tech savvy at all (if you couldn't tell), so I'm really hoping one of you could help me out and let me know what might be wrong! I ... Read more

Hi so my router is downstairs and my room is upstairs. I tried connected multiple devices to the wifi from my room but none of them will connect so the issue definitely isn't my device. if I step outside of my room, everything seems to connect and run perfectly. My laptop and phone can detect the wifi network it just isn't able to connect, does anyone have any idea why this is the case and now can I solve this issue?

A:Cannot connect to wifi in one specific room?!?!

Maybe the signal in your room is too weak. Weak signal could be caused by an obstruction or unfortunate orientation of the router's antenna(s).

Or maybe there is wireless interference in your room (e.g., from a neighbor's network that comes easily through a window into your room but is obstructed in other parts of the house).

If you have a computer running Windows ...

Other devices are able to connect to the network with no issues (mobile device and another PC). Fixes attempted have been all of the common fixes with tcp reset, winsock reset, router/modem reset as well as all of the suggested fixes in support; bios reset, reinstall drivers, system restore.

Solutions would be appreciated.

I was wondering if it was possible to have specific IP configurations for Wifi networks.

For example, when I connect to network "wifi1" I get automatically DHCP address, and when I connect to "wifi2" I get static IP which I defined before.

Is it possible? Really would make my life easier

A:Specific IP configuration for WiFi networks

I use netsetman.

I noticed that recently my computer has been having problems connecting to my specific home WiFi. I first noticed when I randomly lost connection at home, so like anyone I checked my phone to see if it was only my computer, to my suprise it was only in my computer where I was unable to access the WiFi. It would connect then randomly disconnect and it would keep doing this on its own. I would connect randomly and quickly disconnect. I tried troubleshooting, and it would say that a network cable was broken, and that it was fixed. But it clearly wasn't. I am able to connect with other WiFis, be it at school or a cafe or even my phone's hotspot. The only solution I have found is that I HAVE to restart my modem at home EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to connect. Which has become very annoying, for me and for my roomate as my laptop is the only device facing this problem and only with this WiFi. But once I restart it is as if it never had this problem. Only to recur when I leave my house and come back home. I have tried uninstalling the WiFi driver and reinstalling, as well as manually reinstalling the most recent WiFi driver, but none have been succesful in fixing this problem. What is really odd is that this problem only began a few days ago, when I have had this computer for years, as well as only to this specific WiFi.

About a week ago, our cable internet connection went out. Before I had a chance to reboot the modem & router, my 11 year old decided to completely reset the router to factory settings! Ugh! This caused several issues: my home network is now gone, only a unsecured factory network is available. When I try to plug my laptop into the router via ethernet cord (in order to login to router and setup secure network) my computer will not recognize the router and won't connect to internet. I tried troubleshooting with my cable provider and they say it's in my computer (IP address will not reset) and he recommended I replace my network card. However, today when I brought my laptop to work, it will instantly recognize the wifi at work. So is it really my network card that is causing issues? Please help, I'm desperate and not tech too tech savvy!

my hp 15r005tx shows wifi connection only beside the router. it shows range for non of the mobiles hotspots or and wifi connections unless they are placed right beside it. Also the wifi range it shows is weak even when wifi router is right next to it. apart from all this looses after every 5-10 minutes i have tried upgarding and reinstalling drivers multiple times but it was of no use. this is my first computer and i dont have a lot of knowledge about computers, also upgrading the pc drivers when internet connection barely lasts for 5 minutes is a very hectic task for me. The service centre guy is in no mood to solve my problems and blames the windows 10 upgrade for this issue but this thing happend 2 months after the upgrade. i feel very helpless about this problem... How would one set up a home wifi network with a non-wifi router? I have a router for my voip phone but it is not wireless. Do I just add a wireless card to my main PC?

I do not want to remove my current router. None of the wifi routers I have looked at have VOIP ports on the back.

Will adding a wifi PCI card do the trick? Most of the wifi cards show them in use with a wifi router.

A:wifi with non-wifi router

what about a wifi access point that plugs into an ethernet port on your existing router?

you can use a wifi card to do the same, but its a bit fiddly..

by the way, is it just to network pc's only?

Hi. I'm new here, so I'm sorry if there are any problems with my post, but here's the issue:

About a month ago, I noticed I couldn't access Twitch.tv when connected via wifi, so I just plugged my Ethernet cord it and I could view it fine. I had been wired since then until three days ago or so, when I needed to lend out the cord for someone. Then it became a huge hassle.

All websites work perfectly fine on Ethernet, but here are the issues I experience on Wifi:
1: I can't watch videos hosted by Blip.
2: I can't even load Twitch.tv or Photobucket (These are the only websites I've noticed)
3: If I pull out the Ethernet cord and switch to wifi while watching a stream on Twitch.tv, the stream will continue to play without issue until I refresh the page. None of the other site functions work, though.

What I've tried:
1: Other browsers. All have the same issue
2: Other devices. My roommate's iPad can load all the websites perfectly fine on Wifi.
3: Proxies: Proxies allow me to load the Twitch.tv webpage, but not view streams
4: Updating wireless drivers, Flash, and Java.
5: Restarting computer
6: Gone into the wireless settings and made sure DNS was automatic
7: Disabling the "use web service to resolve navigation errors" and network action prediction settings in Chrome
9: Allowing Chrome through my Firewall and Antivirus
8: Turning off my Firewall and Antivirus

What I can't try:
1: System restore

Hi everyone.
I'm building a website right now and since yesterday, it seems that it won't load on my laptop, and only my laptop. I use a wifi network with this laptop.
The website is http://infocom.ca/rea-pathologies, and the error it gives is "Connection timed out".
I tried on Chrome, Firefox and Explorer, and I get the same problem
Here is a list of everything I tried, and all the information I could gather :
I tried loading the website on my smartphone (Galaxy S4), both with LTE and Wifi, it worked both times.
I tried loading the website on my laptop using my smartphone as a wifi access point, and it worked.
I tried pinging the website, it works. I tried loading the IP it returns in Chrome, but it won't work.
I tried rebooting my modem and my router, without success.
I reconfigured my router (D-Link, DIR-655), without success.
I checked the HOST file in system32, there is nothing there related to infocom.ca. I tried forcing the proper IP on infocom.ca, no success.
I tried ipconfig /flushdns, /release, /renew
I tried using both auto-detect DNS, OpenDNS and Google DNS in my IPv4 and IPv6 settings, with no success.
I tried the diagnostic tool, tells me everyting is fine.
I tried turning off Windows firewall, nothing happened.
I scanned my PC with Anti Spywares, without results
I tried everything the user SLOOKSTERPSV suggests on this post, without success: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1750739.html

Hello, I have this problem while Im traveling for work to our second base. There is only a Wi-Fi network that goes thru controller and AP. On first attempt I connect just as normal, but after 5 min. it disconnects me and it seems like the network dissapearedfor me. I have to restart the AP or my network adapter which is really annoying when it happens every few minutes. Also I noticed that something similar is going on on my home Wi-Fi, it doesnt disconnect me like in the first case, but it feels like it keeps reconnecting every few minutes (I have difficulties loading a video on youtube while on smartTV its not a problem or on any other device connected to the same network)I tried- uninstalling the driver and installing different one- reinstalling current driver- do this (https://support.lenovo.com/cz/cs/solutions/ht502846)- bunch of other stuff My spec- Lenovo ThinkPad L440- Windows 7 Pro SP1- Wireless driver - Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260 (HW ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B2&SUBSYS_C2628086&REV_6B) Thanks in advance Reiter

Good afternoon wise sages of techguy.org.

I am in need of your kind advice.

I have been connecting to the internet at my apartment complex for around a year. Access is gained through entering a username and password in a browser that usually pops up when i connect to the network.

A few days ago when i tried to connect to the network Windows tells me 'The connection is limited.'

Chrome tells me 'DNS Probe No internet." Internet explorer tells me im not connected to the internet.

I did some research on the internet and tried the following things:

Uninstalled my wifi adapter and reset my computer. Didnt fix it.

Ipconfig release and renew. DNS flush. Reset my computer. Didnt fix it.

Tried the Windows troubleshooting etc. Didnt fix it.

Tried and - no response.

I have the following information:

When i look at the wifi status it is sending packets but not recieving them.

Here is my ipconfig / all log:

Hello everyone!

I don't usually go the "beg for help on an unknown forum" route but I'm clearly out of my depth on this issue and hours of furious Googling and tweaking have not helped me one bit.

What I'm trying to do is trying to setup file sharing between 2 computers connected by an ethernet cable.
So far so good, except those 2 computers are ALSO part of a Wifi network to connect to the internet through a wireless router. There are other computers on this network (other roommates) that must NOT have access to anything shared on either on those 2 computers.

I've tried fiddling with homegroups but the only homegroups we can create are on the WiFi network. If I set the LAN connection to anything else but public by setting PC2 as a default gateway, I can't get access to the internet anymore.

How on earth can I set that up properly, if that's even possible?

EDIT: my brain is so close to imploding that I forgot basic curtesy-

Of course, thank you in advance for your help.

Sounds to me like you are using ICS to create a secondary wired connection for the second machine.

You need to use the LAN ports on the router or a switch rather than sharing a connection using ICS "internet connection sharing". Homegroups won't work with ICS.

Once you are connected to the router with a regular LAN connection with both machines, you should have no problems setting up a Homegrou... Read more

I do a lot of wifi hotspot testing over Teamviewer. When the hotspot doesn't work I lose the Teamviewer connection. Is there any way to make Windows connect to a specific network after about 60 seconds or so?

If I can choose the specific wifi network to make Windows to connect to after a set amount of time my life would be much easier!

A:[Q] Make Windows Connect to Specific Wifi Network After 60 seconds?

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

So, there are two or more Wi-Fi SSIDs that you are authorized to connect to in the remote location?

Others in the forum might have a better way to do this, but I would use AutoIt in a ping loop - if the ping fails - then double check - if ping still fails, use netsh to create a connection. Or use the info here or here.

I've been connecting to my home network with no problem until 2 days ago. My home network suddenly disappeared from available networks, and my laptop won't detect it no matter what I try. My laptop sees other wifis at home and can connect, but not that specific network. I'm using my neighbor's wifi right now!!
My phone and other laptops see the home network and connect with no problem,so it's not the modem. I have updated wifi driver, disabled/enabled it, turn it on/off in bios.. didn't work.. No problem with office network during the day, but won't detect the home network..
Please, any suggestions? Need internet at home.

A:XPS13 wont detect a specific wifi network, no problem with others

So I am attempting to connect to the wifi network at my girlfriends place, which I have done fine previously, but my laptop cant find it at all. I have tried restrarting my laptop, installing new drivers for the atheros wireless adaptor, resetting the router, but it still wont show up. It connects fine to other (older and newer) devices, and works fine when connected via ethernet cable, but it is hardly practical to sit on top of the router all day.

My laptop detects other networks fine, such as those of the neighbors and connects to my own home network fine. I have also tried deleting the saved network and manually connecting to the network while also checking the box about connecting even if the network is not broadcasting its SSID. Still nothing. I also checked power management settings and made sure it the network adaptor was using max performance power settings.

Previously when I set up their router, it was broadcasting on a single channel between 1 and 11, cant remember exactly which, and I have no reason to believe they have changed it.

A:Cant find specific Wifi Network but works fine with other devices.

connect by ethernet and have a look at the name and channel- it could be using channel 12 or 13 which is allowed outside the US but your PC is using channels 1-11 if US based setting

look at the SSID name and if indeed set to broadcast

I have seen that issue a few times - although xirrus usually shows the channel

all those signals are very low

whats the name of the wireless signal at your girlfriends
and where is that xirrus screen shot from - your girlfriends ?

Hello, I am a bit of a hard time with 2 routers on one network and unfortunately as things stand now they both have to be there. So I just got ADSL and the only modem option available to me was one with a 4-port wired router, I hooked that up into my existing network of about 9 computers (5 laptops and 4 desktops) which is connected by another 4-port WiFi router.

I started out with my only goal of hooking 3 of these computers to the internet after I got the DSL by some MAC filtering configured in the WiFi router. But, having the DSL modem/router has created another issue. I am using 2 separate IP gateways for both the routers which are in the same subset, I can connect to both of them from all my machines. The problem is I don't have any control over which computer connects to what router. I am trying to avoid setting each PC up with a static IP that needs internet access.

Here is my setup in more detail. My ADSL router is and my WiFi router is and both have the subnet My ADSL connection has dynamic IP and the modem/router is connected into a LAN port on the WiFi router. I have tried disabling DHCP on the modem/router and changed my WiFi router IP to that of the modem (which was counter productive) to no avail. Someone mentioned MAC address cloning but I am not sure if it will work in this setup. Since I configured this I am seeing quite a few IP conflicts, which are probably my fault as I didn't check when I was setting... Read more
