Visio 2000 to Visio 2003 - problems

Q: Visio 2000 to Visio 2003 - problems

Hi,

At work, we recently upgraded from Visio 2000 to Visio 2003.

Mistake. Big mistake. Huge.

Now, when we try to edit the graphics, we get the same types of problems that many other users have reported: lines don't connect; text is improperly kerned (spaced between letters); text appears lighter (medium gray) in print and on screen; some elements don't display.

Has anyone been successful at getting Visio 2000 images into Visio 2003 format without heavy image editing?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Visio 2000 and have created some drawings. When I import them into my Powerpoint Preso, the top and bottom parts of drawing are cut off. It doesn't matter how I format the page, layout, etc. in either Powerpoint or Visio, it still cuts the top and bottom portion of drawings.

When I import the drawings onto a PC with visio 2002, they appear fine (I can't copy the Visio 2002 version onto laptop as it is corporate version, and I cannot load on my personal laptop)

Is there any workaround, and I am surprised that Powerpoint 2002 isn't backward compatible with Visio 2000.

Any suggestions?

I am using Microsoft word 2016 and Visio 2013.
I put the Visio images directly in the word document and a Visio object is created.
However, if the file I have created is opened and saved in lower version than word 2016 (let's say word 2010) the visio object is shown as an unidentified object in my pc. Whereas, in the other pc where it was edited (which was having a lower
version of Microsoft word) it works fine.
Please help me solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.

Visio files are received as attachments in Outlook 2016. Visio Viewer 2016 and IE11 are also installed on Windows 10 (1607).
Previewing the Visio file (VSD in this case) is successful. However, when you try to open the Visio file, IE11 attempts to open it (as expected) but only displays a blank page.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this issue?   Other articles suggest that Visio Viewer 2016 does not support IE11.

I am trying to install visio 2000 -- on win2kpro.
I run the setup -- it installs update -- then asks to reboot machine.
I do this -- then a visio initialization dialogue box comes up and runs -- I hit next -- Then I go to the End user license agreement -- the next button is grayed out -- I scroll through the agreement and still the next button is grayed out. I have quit and retried -- same problem.
I go to add/remove programs and remove is grayed out -- change is the only option -- I click on this and It start the inialization process then takes me to the license agreement again -- I can't figure why the next button is grayed out. I have also tried rebooting.
Any idea's
Thanks

A:Visio 2000

There's usually 2 radio buttons below the agreement, but above the Next buttons, and you need to tick one for "I Agree" or "I Disagree". Once one is ticked, then the Next button will be activated.

If you tick "I Disagree" then the installation will be aborted!

When we have tried to install Visio 2000 on WIN2K PCs, it crashes the achine and we have to reinstall the OS. Obviously we do not try to re-install Visio. Has anyone seen this? We have Novell and have learned to rename the mfc42.dll before the visio install as Novell has altered the damn file and visio simply overwrites it. But this is different and more deadly. If someone forgets to rename the file first we can fix it with the console mode repair.

Offhand, the only thing I can remember is that we could not be connected to the server during hard-drive install. (Only a few of us had licenses anyway.)

How can I remove or change that stencil to reflect the new one ?

How can I globally change all flowcharts to reflect the new stencil ?

The positioning will be in the same place as the other, top-center of the flowchart.

With Visio Technical 2000 can I import .dwg files from AutoCad v14 and manipulate them and copy shapes as templates and drag them to a stencil?

A:Visio Technical 2000 compatability w/AutoCad

Visio 2K opens 27 file types, two of which are dwg and dwx files. I've had difficulty from time to time, but I believe that was because I had Visio 5 and was trying to open dwg files that had been created in autocad versions that were too new. I do have Visio 2K. If you'd like me to test several files for you, I'd be happy to do so.

As for being able to save items to stencils, or being able to edit the drawings in general, I'm not sure at all. But I can test this for you as well. Just give me good examples of the kinds of things you'd like to change.

Just email me.

Hiya

The Microsoft Visio® Viewer 2002 allows anyone to view Visio drawings and diagrams (if created with Visio 5, 2000, or 2002) inside their Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or later Web browser.
Visio users can freely distribute Visio drawings and diagrams to team members, partners, customers, or others, even if the recipients do not have Visio installed on their computers. Internet Explorer also allows for printing, although this is limited to the portions of the drawings that appear in the current view.

The Visio Viewer 2002 enables users to discover the advantages of using Visio drawings, charts, and illustrations in a Web-based environment. It is particularly useful for teams that need to collaborate from different locations.

I am using Microsoft Visio 2003 to define static classes with operations/methods and a sequence diagrams referring to these classes. The sequence diagram is almost done, but i realized that i missed one operation in middle of the diagram. When i try to move rest of the sequences down by selecting it as a block, all the operations in the block loose link with static diagrams. ( Methods which were referred to static classes as fun(), became fun, which means that now they no longer refer to static diagrams and any future changes would not be reflected in dynamic sequence diagrams automatically.)

The sequence diagrams have grown to A3 size paper and i have many of such diagrams which needs correction. Manually moving the operations one by one would involve lots of effort. Could someone kindly suggest a way to overcome this problem?

Hey all,

I'm looking for a reasonably easy way to create a map of certain database tables in an Oracle database. I don't want a fancy ERD diagram, I just want to point to a specific table and have it come up with a picture of that table and the fields/related information.

I would think that Visio could do that, but the more I fool around with the database options in the add-ons, the more confused I get. Not to mention that it hangs any time I try to use the DSN that points to my Oracle db.

Any suggestions?

Also, if you don't do regular hard drive maintenance, weirdo stuff like this can occur. Send me an email with PHDM in the subject and an autoreply will send you the document.

Hi,

I did a search for horizontal text but nothing comes up; hopefully you can help:

I've imported a few images into Visio 2003. Anytime I type out a description the text only appears within the borders of the image.

For example,
I'd like the text to go from left to right
J
Smile

But it only goes within the image and down, never across past the borders of the image.
J
s
m
i
l
e

I’ve attempted to edit the text trying to eliminate the issue but nothing works.
Of course when i add a shape from Visio this does not happen.
I made a new share, copied my image to the stencil, saved it and still no luck
I did a side by side of a Visio shape and my imported image but matching all the settings did not help
Thank you!

A:Solved: Visio 2003, How to type horizontal text for an imported image

I was able to figure it out; you’d need to make sure the text is highlighted, click the Windows menu, and Show shape sheet. In the shapes sheet window look for Text Transform and adjust the settings accordingly. I used the settings from a Visio shape and it worked.

Hope this help others as it was hard to find an answer to this online.

I have a perfectly good copy of Visio Standard 2003. Unfortunately, between getting new PCs and replacing hard drives, I'm now out of activations.

I don't really want to upgrade because I don't like the ribbon and, at 64, I don't want to spend the money. However, I use Visio at home fairly regularly, and haven't seen anything else that quite does the job. I would not be opposed to buying other reasonably priced software, if it works like Visio, reads Visio files, and has menus instead of ribbons.

I'd pay for a new Product key, or a new full copy if the price were reasonable, but I've spoken to MS three times now and they don't sell either, nor will they extend the number of activations on my key.

I don't know where to, safely, look to buy a legitimate activation key that will be good for more than one activation on one PC. We upgrade hardware every few years. I've seen full products, but they are still over $100, and I find that high for old software.

I don't really want to hack the app, but I'm clearly not getting anything like help from MS.

Has anyone any suggestions for getting around this issue?

This makes me sad, as I still have a copy of Visio 1.0 on 3.5" floppies. 16-bit and doesn't work on any machine I currently own, but still ...

No, it's not part of Office and you'll need to buy it separably.

Hi,

Microsoft Office Visio, how do i print one page 4 times on the same page, so 4 smaller versions?

Thanks

Arron

A:MS Visio

The option to print 4 copies to one page is a property (or limitation) of the printer and the driver installed on your computer. When you choose print from the file menu, it opens a dialog box where you can change the settings. Some advanced print drivers allow you to change the setup or page options. Look for page layout and see if you have a setting to allow for # of pages per sheet(ie. four pages per sheet layout). Hope this helps.

I am used to other drawing progrms but Visio does not work like other programs.

I have so far managed to put little boxes on a drawing area.

But I don't know how to do simple things like resize the object. It would help if I could change the cursor so that it is a pointer again. Instead it seems to be expecting me to add text.

You have to click on the pointer tool it looks like a mouse pointer icon, another tool tou might use is the connector tool, it will let you continously drag lines between shapes and connect to the handles.
