I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Toshiba Satellite model L850-1JR and I have the following problem:
From time to time, when you turn on the PC and spend a few minutes, the screen is completely black.
It seems that the operating system still works and I can not recover it. I happen to both with a battery and connected to the NETWORK.
Disconnect the PC by pressing the power button for a few seconds, remove the power cord and wait a few minutes. I put the cable back and proceed to start it, but it still does not work. The power LEDs if they work and the pc seems to start perfectly but without seeing anything.
Occasionally, when this happens, when the screen is moved the PC recovers and other times until it does not spend enough hours does not turn on the screen again.
Could you tell me what may be happening and / or how to solve this problem?
Thank you very much

I have a Toshiba Satellite L850-1j9 (PSKG8E-02D00KCE) working with i7-3630QM and a AMD Radeon HD 7670M.
The problem is, I'm not able to install the Display Driver from AMD. When I try to install the software and drivers this problem appears: https://youtu.be/AOiPq8WVz_M
The first time this happen I was using Win 10. I did the update to win 10 one month ago and everything was ok until 4 days ago. I was working with my laptop with a external screen connected by HDMI and suddenly the screen started flashing with some green lines and a black backgroud (something as you can see in the video).
I saw in internet that some people had problems doing the update to wion10 so I installed again windows 8 to see if was something related with win10 but the problem persists.
I tried install the GPU from the intel CPU, a Intel 4000HD graphic card, but is not possible use it as a main GPU. I got this problem: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
I need help please to understand what can I do to fix this problem. I took a look through internet and until now I did find any solution that could fix my problem.
Thanks for your help.

Please help

I purchased 2 of these laptops for my boys for high school. They came loaded with Windows 7 although I received an offer to update to Windows 8 for a special price which I did.

In the process of doing this it instructed me that there were some conflicts with some programs that I had to uninstall and then reinstall afterwards.

The programs I had to delete were:
Toshiba Disc Creator
Toshiba Face Recognition
Toshiba Health Monitor
Intel USB 3.0
Extensible Host Control Driver
Toshiba LAN Indicator
Toshiba Recovery Media Creator

Where do I find these programs to download? I did look up Toshiba and entered the computer model but it didn't recognise the last part of the model (PSK DLA).
I just want to make sure I am downloading the correct programs again.

I am also now having a problem with playing videos after downloading WIndows 8. I can hear the sound but I don't get the picture. This is also happening on my HP laptop. I am using the Radeon Graphics AMD (sorry, I know this is going to show that I have a computer with no idea).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

A:Satellite L850 PSKDLA: Need Toshiba tools which were removed before Win 8 upgrade

All Windows 8 drivers are available on Toshiba EU driver page.
If some tools are missing then this means that such tools don?t exist for Win 8 at this time.

>Toshiba Recovery Media Creator
This is only a part of Toshiba image. The recovery disk creator creates recovery image from the system preinstalled by Toshiba. If you upgraded the system to Win 8, you will need to use another tools to create an system image.

Here also a nice documentation - Windows 8 Upgrade - Notes and Restrictions

By the way: Some drivers for Win 7 are compatible with Win 8
So you can also install the Intel USB 3.0 driver which was released for Win 7 on Windows 8 preinstalled notebook.

Hi Everyone,
I have a laptop that wont let me create a restore disk. It has the icon but nothing happens when I click on it. It is a Satelite Pro if that helps and I am running Windows XP. My computer has been infested with viruses it takes 5 mins just to close out of all the error pop up each time I turn the computer on. I haven't installed any software so if I could just go to the way it was when I 1st got it would be GREAT I have search on the internet and the only thing I have found was to buy the CD and I am broke hopefully someone out there can help me.

A:Toshiba Factory restore NO DISK

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer, and seeing what they have to say about it? most manufacturers, I believe Toshiba is one of them. THey may be able to send you a new restore disk. Did you purchase this laptop used? because many laptops I think have it hardwared in that you can only create one restore disk, and if it has already been done it may not allow it to be done again. also, does it have a recovery partition? many laptops come with a small partition with a recovery version of the OS on it that can reinstall and restore the computer to factory settings.

I am trying to "make work" my son's old Toshiba L45-S7409 laptop. It has Vista Home on it. Due to the technical problems I'm encountering, that's pretty much all the information I can give you right now. Other than it's silver. *grin*

Okay: Here's what it is doing:
I turn on the computer and it seems to boot up just fine. It gets me to the login screen. I type in the password my son gave me and it accepts it, starts to think about it and just when the circular thinking button is about to open Vista so I can use it, the screen goes black. The mouse works. But nothing else. I can't see a thing.

Here's what I've tried:
Oddly enough, it will go into Safe mode and open up. I thought part of the problem was my son cleaning "stuff" off it before he sent it home and if I could simply uninstall everything and clean it up, something would magically disappear and allow the OS to function. I couldn't uninstall anything because the Microsoft Installer was missing or corrupt (I forget which it was).

I have read a great many forums on the Toshiba laptops and I have tried the F8 to get to the repair option. A:Toshiba L45-S7409 & Vista Restore

Well, mine came with a recovery partition. And an option in the menu to create recovery disks. You need one or the other.

One thing you might try if you can't get to the recovery partition, is to see if one actually exists. If you create this bootable CD or USB key, you can boot it up to a dsktop with a partition editor on it. Using that, you can check to see exactly what partitions are on the machine right now. In addition, this disk has another boot option for a boot manager that may allow you to boot the recovery partition directly even if the MBR is damaged on the hard drive.

If you want to try working in Safe Mode, I suppose you have already tried System Restore. If not, try it.

If you can get the recovery environment to start using the F8 option, you can also run sfc to see if any files are missing or corrupt. From a command line:

sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\Windows

(It may ask for installation media, in which case you are sunk. But it may also be able to recover files from their images already on the drive, so cross your fingers.)

Check Device manager for missing or problem drivers.

Hi all,
I hope I am posting this in the proper forum.
I just bought my first laptop (yeah, yeah.. I know).  I want to factory restore the sucker to rid it of anything and everything the previous owner has on it.  I downloaded the owner's manual for this model (Satellite C55-S5123) and it states (paraphrasing)~To Factory reset hold 0 key down and press start button, then release t0 key when the Toshiba boot screen shows up. The laptop will beep and  the Warning screen will show up and then go to the Restore Options screen.
This doesn't happen.  It goes straight to the Windows loading screen after the beeping with the dos _ in the upper left.  I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it discovered something and cleaned it and I rebooted, but I still can't access the Factory reset options.  They should be there.  I wasn't provided with restore discs and don't want Toshiba to rip me off for $30 for the replacement discs when the partition should be there.
I ran a DXdiag and will paste that following.  Is there anything I can do to access the Factory Restore on this laptop?  Thanks to any and all that can help me.

Hello everyone. First time to the site and first post. Great being here.

First off..a few weeks back I installed a trial verison of Vista on my laptop. I let it go its 14 days before I had to enter a product key. Over these 14 days, it caused alot of problems on my computer and do not wish to keep Vista on my system. I would like to go back to good ol XP. When I go boot up my computer and log in, it takes me a screen saying this is not a genuine version of windows and I need to go online to purchase a KEY. Well it give me internet explorer and that is all, nothing else is shown. No start button or taskbar. Well..since I haven't been able to find any one withhow to uninstall Vista, I decided I want to factory reset my computer, format and all and start over. All of my documents are saved on my external drive so there is nothing I need to keep.

So last week I went to command prompt and tried to format the harddrive that way, with no luck, it gave me some message about the partition being locked or something. So I wasn't able to do it that way. So I found my recovery disk. On the case it says to put it in the dvd/cd drive and start up my computer..why its starting up hold down the c button until it comes to the toshiba screen and then start the process. So I put it in my external drive, my internal one doesnt work so well, and I had problems, either it did nothing at all or it acts like it might and just says your computer wasnt shut down properly last time and asks m... My laptop only boots after 2,5 hours. I'm looking at a black screen when I turn on my laptop.
When I wait 2,5 hours the laptop boots into windows. I've checked all my connected hardware to make sure they weren't faulty.
I've disconnected the drives, installed new memory banks, removed the wifi adapter and display. When I removed the display I tried booting using a HDMI external monitor.

Everything I tried did not work. I think the BIOS might be corrupted so I want to flash an older bios version to see if that works.
When I try to flash an older version it gives me an error saying that "a newer version is already installed" and it will not continue.

Is there someone at Toshiba who can help me fix this laptop?

Thank you in advance.

I have an older Toshiba Satelite A65 S1062 (purchased in 2004)that I was using the restore disk on when it lost power. Now when I try to start it, it goes directly to a "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" and returns to that message when I restart. Isn't there a way I can get a C prompt or something so I can try the restore disk again? It was running XP, I think it was the home version.

PS: There wasn't anything wrong with the laptop before I did this, at least not that I know of, other than it hadn't been used for over 6 months. I wanted to restore it so I could give it away.

Hi All,

I am trying to fix a Toshiba laptop that failed during a factory restore by the customer and would not complete the restore. I have since tested the ram and hard drive and they are ok. I replaced the faulty cd drive too. The factory restore worked this time, but I keep getting a blue screen during the 'Checking System Performance' stage of the recovery. Windows is installed and all drivers are in as I can see in safe mode but if I try to boot to normal Windows I get the BSOD boot loop and don't know how to bypass it. I have attached a html file of the crash reports from BlueScreenView. The problem appears to be with the ATI display driver, but I am not sure how to update it in safe mode.

Most BSOD's that I've run into that reference dxgkrnl.sys are a VIDEO_TDR_ERROR - and in my experience they have been caused by overheating. To start off, i apologize if there is already a thread about this or if its not in the right place as im new to this..anyways ill try to make this as coherent as possible..
A week ago i got a virus or w/e on my toshiba satellite laptop (has windows 7). Upon loading the desktop at startup i would receive a barrage of system error messages saying something about having bad or damaged sectors on my hard drive, as well as my desktop icons not loading along with the items in my Start menu not appearing except for mozilla. I also couldnt access task manager either.
I went about trying to fix it by going into safe mode, trying last known good configuration, and then finally going about the factory image restore process but it only gets as far as the black screen saying -windows is loading files- with a load bar..but it does nothing more..
and to top it all off, since yesterday the laptop seems to be working just fine now with no help from me..no error messages, all desktop and start menu items load, but the factory restore thing just doesnt seem to want to work..
so i guess im asking if anyone here have even an inkling as to what may be going on or how i should go about fixing this? thank you for your time

A:toshiba factory image restore problem...

If you are getting the message that there are bad sectors on the HDD then you need to run Check Disk. Go to Start/Search and type CMD. Right click CMD.exe in the search results and Run As Administrator. In the Command Prompt type chkdsk C: /R and press enter. Now type a Y and reboot the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup and mark any bad sectors on the drive and not store data there. If there are too many bad sectors the drive may need to be replaced before it fails.

A:Toshiba Satellite C55 how to undo system restore?

If the computer only has one account and you cannot get to a command prompt you can try enabling the hidden Administrator Account. Follow the steps here but to not reset any passwords. If this password was a Windows Live Account there may be a problem. You can get the latest version of the software here. Once you have logged into the Administrator Account, use that to undo the System Restore. You will need to disable Secure Boot and possibly enable Legacy boot in order to boot the utility.
Sometimes you can force Windows into the Advanced Options mode by doing the following. When Windows 8 shuts down it does not really shut down like WIndows 7. It is more of a hybrid shutdown. Getting into Advanced Options should let you undo the restore point. See link above.
Hold the Power Button for 5 seconds or until the computer completely shuts off.
Press the Power Button to turn the computer on.
As soon as you see the rotating loading circle, press and hold the Power Button until the computer shuts off.
Repeat this process 2 or 3 times until you see the Preparing Automatic Repair screen.
Edit: Once you get into the Adminstrator Account you can change the password of your client's account if it is not a Windows Live password.
Edit Edit: If the customer did have a Windows Live account for logging in, you can reset it and then use that to log  in avoiding doing any of the abo... Read more

So my brand new computer had to be completely replaced by Dell. In the process, the dell dude and my husband backed up all my files (pictures and office documents) to a toshiba 3.0 port. I figured out how to restore everything to the new computer, however, it restored it to c:user/erin but I think I am not erin on the new computer (I must have put myself as something else, I named the new new computer Iris, what I would have named a daughter but I only had sons). But I think it is all there on the new computer I just can't find it because when I go to the search (on the right hand side when I move my arrow over- what do you call that bar that pops up?) and I search for my files, they are there. How do I figure out what my user is now and how do I transfer them to my current user? If they are in the right user how do I find them without using search...they aren't in my documents or on my desktop as the user I am now.

A:Toshiba Satellite factory restore errors

I think I would start by running a test on the hard drive, if that is defective (one reason for slow performance) it will need to be replaced.

Did you create the recovery discs while the system was performing badly? If so that could also explain why the Factory Restore is not working as the discs may have errors.

You can create the Seatools disc on any fully functional PC with a CD burner or use any PC to create the Flash Drive.

Open Internet Explorer and click on this: Seatools

Save the download to your desktop.

In Windows 7 right click the ISO file, select Open With, then select Windows Disc Image Burning Tool then follow the prompts.
For all other versions of windows (if you do not have an ISO burner) download this free software. ImgBurn Install the program (make sure you uncheck any boxes that will install bundled software) and start the application. Select the top left hand option to Write image file to disc and then on the next window click on the small yellow folder icon and browse to the ISO file on your desktop. Then click on the two grey discs with the arrow in between (bottom left) and leave it to complete the operation.

You will need a blank recordable CD or a re-recordable CD. If your PC has no CD/DVD drive or you would prefer to run Seatools from a Flash Drive follow this guide: How to run Seatools from a USB Flash Drive

When the CD has been burned boot the PC into the Bios setup and set the CD/DVD drive to 1st in the boot sequence Bios Boot Order Guide. ... Read more

I factory restored my toshiba satellite after I couldn't remove a file that was causing a virus. We had a few problems but I finally figured it out, but when it finished finalizing it took me straight to entering my password to get in to my laptop but it never got me to set my username and password so now I can not get into my laptop. Please help me. I do not want to system restore again because it caused too many issues and I finally got it to work.

A:Factory Restore Toshiba password and username fail

Tried no name and password? or Administrator with no password?

Gives no option there for account creation?

Can get into safe mode?

If not having any of that I would call Microsoft tech support, walk you through getting in via one of their backdoors, surely.

Could try info at this link also:

Hello. This is my first time in this forum.

But to get to the main point, I have lost but recovered the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator.ink file to a temporary location on the c: drive.

But it still doesn't seem to be working.

Here is some information on my laptop:

Toshiba L300-1BV

Intel® Celeron Processor 1.66Ghz

2GB Memory

Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family Graphics Card

So except from using the f8 button and selecting repair your computer and then selecting Toshiba HDD recovery Utility, is there any other button that can restore my computer to its origional factory state?

A:Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator Lost! Any other way i can restore?

Have you tried...looking at the documenation (owner's manual) for your system?

Or the Toshiba website?

I recently bought a Toshiba laptop from my friend, who bought it brand new on Christmas. The computer originally came with Windows 8 but his brother apparently installed Windows 7 early on. When I bought the computer I noticed it was a little slow and cluttered with my friends files (but otherwise ran fine), so I decided to do a system restore. To ensure that all junk was deleted, I chose the earliest system restore point. Now whenever the computer starts, it freezes on the Starting Windows screen. I've tried booting in Safe Mode, low-res, nothing seems to work. I've also tried many of the solutions in Startup Repair including a system restore to a later point than what I had selected previously, did a memory scan, and pretty much everything else in that Startup Repair menu and nothing seems to be giving me any luck. Since I bought this computer used, I don't have a Windows 7 installation disc. The only way I can think to do a fresh install of Windows 7 would be with my USB external hard drive, putting a bootable install of Windows 7 on the drive with another computer. Anyone know how I could do this? Or have any other suggestions as to how I could get my computer working again?

A:Did a system restore on a Toshiba laptop, now Windows 7 won't start

You can clean install from a ten dollar 4 GB USB flash drive.

But you'll ultimately need a Windows 7 Product Key. Not sure why you didn't get that from the friend's brother as part of the purchase.

You may be able to get a Windows 8 recovery disk from Toshiba.

Toshiba satalite l505 freezes up on factory restore?
I'm trying to do a factory restore on my friends laptop. The internal hd restore would freeze up during the 3rd or 4th configuration system screen. So I ordered some disks and did a format on the hard drive and did another factory restore with the disks. It still freezes up at the same spot. Even after leaving it all night while I sleep.

Ever time (tons of times both with the internal restore and disks) it freezes up at the same spot. When you restart the pc it goes into the login screen and only shows admin available with no usable password and can't get into it saying that the user isn't set up or the sort. Forgot exactly what it said.

I thought it might be the hard drive so ordered a new one. Still freezes at the same spot.

Please if you know how to fix this tell me. I called customer support and all they want to do is order another disk. But I doubt the new disk they sent me and the internal hard drive would both freeze at the same place if it was the disk.

I've also tried searching the net and so far no solutions. just more people complaining about it doing it to them also. I know there's gotta be a solution somewhere.

What is the reason for the restore? The original problem is often the same reason restoring won't work. You may well have a hardware problem.

Are you sure the disks you are using are for that exact model of machine?

Are there any known or past problems with the optical drive that could make reading the disks a problem?

Is memory OK?

How did you "format" the drive? Formatting a drive before installation has not been needed in Windows since 2000. Most formatting tools would create incorrect partition or file system types (formatting is technically only for file systems, but some tools also partition). It wouldn't be a bad idea to delete the partitions and install to an empty drive.

Hello everyone.
I need to restore a toshiba libretto w100-10d to the default content, I made it to create rescue DVDs using the app in subject.
The problem is the DVDs won't boot. (I'm using an external/usb DVD drive)
Now, I saw if I use a USB flash drive it boots, but I'm unable to create recovery disks on it, the utility tells me to insert a flash drive with at least 5.1 GB, but I already plugged it in.

Please, help.

Bye, Ivano.

A hard object fell on it and it only works in safe mode. I disabled everything from msconfig and it worked. Now I'm about to do a system restore. I have a lot of files (documents, etc.) Should I copy them to an external drive first as a backup? Or will this interfere with the system restore?

I am considering buying an X1C gen 6.The model that is available in my region is: 20KH007JIVAccording to https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_X1_Carbon_6th_Gen?ch=20kh007It has a Fibocom L850-GL. Does it work with ubuntu 18.04 ? I mean does it work reliably after editing some files here and there or it's a mess ? (I am ok to edit some configs if required). Should I check anything before purchasing ? (I am plannig to only have Ubuntu 18.04 on it for development).I know there seems to be some problem with sleep mode but there are acceptable workarounds. Thank you in advance !
