Preferred Solution: unable to upgrade to internet explorer 9 on windows 7 computer.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: unable to upgrade to internet explorer 9 on windows 7 computer.

When you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site, you may receive a "0x80246007" error code
may apply - I think it still applies to Vista and Win7.

My computer automatically updated to Windows 10. Initially, it just has a black screen so I had to do a hard reset (following instructions from the support site). Now it says I'm connected to the Internet but Internet explorer says it's not.I've updated the driver software and that has not made any difference. The next piece of advise is to get the hp network assitant to help, but that was uninstalled in the hard reset. Can anyone help? I've never had any problems with this computer before.

After a week of using Windows Vista, Internet Explorer stopped connecting to the internet. I use FireFox as an alternative and I have a wireless ethernet card installed. Is there a way to repair IE that works? Logged on as Administrator, I followed the instructions to disable all add-ins, closed and open IE again and under Tools/Advanced, clicking RESET just pops up the message to close all open windows and programs. I closed the sidebar, started task manager and proceeded to stop tasks when it said "Access is denied".

Starting up the DID for WV Home Premium 32-bit only presented the Install option, so I did not want to begin that.

A:Internet Explorer Unable to Connect in Windows Vista

As a follow up to this post, I learned that when logging on to a different account, which displays icons that I had under Windows XP, I can connect to the internet with Internet Explorer.
In the new account were IE will not connect, when I click IE Tools/Internet Options/Conections/Setup, it says I am already connected to the Internet after I click Add, but when I click Browse the Internet Now, it says 'Navigation to the webpage was canceled'. Typing a different web page does not work. Going through diaognistics at that point found no problems with my internet connection.

I just did a clean Windows 7 install.

BTW there is an excellent guide here by gregrocker.

How do I upgrade the default IE8 to IE11? Should I uncheck IE 8 (Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off) or just leave it checked and then install IE11?

Or do I install IE11 and it will uncheck IE8 by itself during the installation process?

I was browsing the net and found an interesting read basically saying not to uncheck it.

I noticed after installing W7 and then running Windows Update it installed some IE11 updates even while IE11 is not yet installed.

A:Upgrade Internet Explorer 8 on clean Windows 7 install

Hi,
It's best to uninstall the ie11 update if installed and hide it when it comes up,
Then recheck for updates and load them in the way they were first released 9-10-11
That way if you decide to roll back to a prior version 10 is already there
Plus it just works better
Cheers.
For the record ie10 is the more stable version

Also turning a windows feature off does nothing productive.

Hi there!

There are similar threads about this problem but since the solution is always system specific, I figured I'd start a new thread.

I'm having issues with a few Windows updates, sometimes they work sometimes they don't but the Internet Explorer update never works. I had IE9, uninstalled it, now I have IE8. Any attempt to update via Windows Update fails (it downloads, installs, but then fails and reverts back during restart)

I have run SFC which finds corrupt files but is unable to fix them. I have attached the CBS log. Hoping somebody can help me with this, it's driving me in-sane!

Thanks in advance!

A:Unable to update Internet Explorer, SFC unable to fix corruption

One of the files it cannot fix, xlog.exe, has been reported as a trojan, please run a virus scan.

I am running Windows XP Home SP2 with the latest updates on a Pentium 1.8 GHz Dell 2350. Recently, IE and Eudora quit working. (No new programs had been installed.) IE will not load any pages, it just freezes. Eudora reports an "unhandled exception" and exits. "My Computer" generally will not open, but occasionally after searching several minutes it will function perfectly with every disk/link opening instantly. (I can bypass the "My Computer" button with the "Run" command to instantly open any drive. Using this method, the Control Panel may still open slowly.) Using Task Manager, no process generally appears to be using a lot of CPU resources. Also, "My Computer" and Eudora function perfectly in Safe Mode.

I did run the Panda online scanner. After 6 hours, it reported 37 potential "viruses or spyware" but did not give an option to fix any. I neglected to save the log file at that time--sorry. Since then, I have downloaded and run the following antivirus/spyware detection programs without finding any problems other than tracking cookies (removed all cookies): SpyBot Search & Destroy, AVG Free 8.0 full scan, BitDefender 10 Antivirus full scan, the latest Windows malware removal tool, sfc\ scannow (did not run with XP CD in drive), and Windows Defender. About a month ago I visited a web page (sorry, don't remember which one).

Immediately after this I started noticing a lot of popups when I used Internet Explorer.  There were also new programs on my PC I did not recognize.  Unfortunately I do not remember exactly what they were called.

In response to this I ran the following / with the following results:

Heimdel -- Not sure if it did anything
Malwarebytes -- Ran scan, not sure if it did anything
ADW -- this one deleted: desk toptemp; Fighter10119; Slow pc fighter.
Combofix -- not sure if it did anything
Simp Sys -- it deleted tweaks
RKILL -- not sure if it did anything.

After this, the popups and extra programs went away and my computer appears to be running normally.

I am posting here because I have been told that it is possible there still may be some residual malware on my PC.

My system details:
OS: Windows Vista service pack 2
Browser: Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.164211C
Is there more I should do to ensure my PC does not have any residual malware?

Thanks!

Rerun AdwCleaner and post its results...instructions below.

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Scan button.
When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message

From first topic: Link is: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/271418/infected-unable-to-use-computer/ ~ OBI know I am infected, but unsure about where I would start. Basically:My computer was completely fine, my Monday evening regular virus/spyware searches turned up 0 results. Tuesday morning I went on the internet, got a few IE popups (even though I use Firefox). Decided to do a Malwarebytes scan and got over 750 infected objects infected. Let the scan finish and was told to restart computer, restarted and the problems started. I completely lost my desktop, no icons and no toolbar; a few more restarts and I managed to get them back but nothing else worked. Every program says I don't have the rights to access it or the computer has the resources to start.I can't access the internet and any scans I can run stop in the middle and give me the 'system resources' error.I'm not using that computer at the moment, since I'm completely unable to use it.Firstly I must ask, is is necessary to save the dds.scr and rootrepeal scanners directly to the desktop, or can they be moved there after being downloaded to another location? I can't access the internet on the infected computer so I will be unable to download them if they MUST be saved to the desktop. I have already managed to run a Win32kDiag scan (attached).Thank you for any help.

My users are unable to access the internet via Internet Explorer 7. With Firefox and changes in the proxy it works good, however, unable to access with Internet Explorer.
I'm thinking maybe the user's profile has problem. However, after deleting the user's profile and have her logged in to create a new profile, it still would not work.

How come it works with Firefox but not with Internet Explorer?

I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide. I am running Windows XP - SP3. The system has slowed a lot and Internet Explorer keeps opening multiple windows on it's own. I receive a message at startup on a black screen " Invalid boot.ini" It continues to say it is booting from and it flashes off the screen before I can read it. I ran DDS and have included the two files it produced. When I attempt to run Gmer my system, or the program itself, locks up. After clicking on the GMER.exe file, it loads and then automatically begins a scan of /system then becomes "unresponsive". Once I got the blue screen after running GMER, and it read "STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down. Okay, in a previous post I talked about how nothing worked, I couldn't open files, use internet explorer, anything. So, out of frustration I did a complete reformat. Everything is great now, except that Windows Update still won't work and sometimes freezes my computer, Internet Explorer does the same, as does Yahoo Messenger. I have run Registry Mechanic, Ad-Aware, Updated Norton and did a complete virus scan, all with no problems. I am really frustrated now. Can someone tell me what might be causing this? I was thinking possibly a software conflict, but that's just an uneducated guess and was hoping someone a little more knowledgeable could shed some light on the problem for me!

Thanks in advance!!!

Last week Internet Explorer 11 starting sending boxes stating "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
At first, the message box would show up on a few websites. Today when I bring up any type of webpage, I get one or two warning boxes to close program. Windows has not notified me of a solution.
About the same time I tried to download the "free" malwarebytes program. I do not know if the two items are related, but it seems to be a strange coincidence.
I have tried rebooting the computer. checked for updates, turned off any add-ons, turned off hardware acceleration, on the Advanced tab of Internet options made sure that "use software rendering instead of GPU rendering".
None of these actions fixed the problem.
Please let me know what I need to do or not do to make this situation go away.
Thank you.

Hello,
I'm having some quite weird problem with Internet Explorer.
When I'm attempting to run it,It's displaying the error message (Asking me to send the error report to Microsoft) and then closing down.
I've scanned my computer with adaware/Spybot (Search & Destroy),MS AntiSpyware & Trend Micro Pc-Cillin Internet Security 2006 (All are most updated) & no malware has been found.
Then I've tried to upgrade to IE 7 Beta 2 (The official public beta from Microsoft's website) but to no avail as well.
Upgraded just fine but when I'm attempting to run it,It's just displaying the error message in module ieframe.dll .
I've even tried to disable all the plugins through the Internet Options but that didn't helped.
Please note :
All the IE based browsers (Avant Browser,Maxthon etc....) are working just fine.
My system specs :
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 (+ All the optional & high-priority updates from WindowsUpdate)
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 (Internet Explorer 6 SP2 displayed the error as well)
Main security software :
MS AntiSpyware most-updated & Trend Micro Pc-Cillin Internet Security 2006 (Most updated & all the security features are enabled.)

Is there any way to fix that problem without reinstalling Windows?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Double check your settings in Control Panel under Internet Options. Select Connections, then lan settings. Un-Check Mark both boxes and apply settings, reboot, then go back to the same place and just check mark the top option. (Automatically detect settings) If this doesn't work You will want to call your ISP and have them troubleshoot the issue.

Good morning,

Yesterday I reinstalled Windows 7 from the disk. This installed IE 8 and usually IE 9, IE10 and then IE 11 are available to upgrade to with Windows Update. This wasn't the case. IE 9 and IE 10 do not appear. Instead it provides IE 11 after a number of updates are installed.

There doesn't seem to be an option for disabling tabs in IE 11. My grandmother uses my PC and finds tabbed browsing confusing so I run IE 10 for her.

I ended up installing Firefox with a fix to browse single page style. We prefer IE explorer and was hoping someone here could assist me in downgrading IE 11 to IE 10 or a work around with a new install of Windows 7. Thanks for any thoughts or comments provided.

A:Unable to install Internet Explorer 10

Well; you should be able to find IE 10 somewhere in the microsoft download center or in their archived downloads. Im just not sure exactly what section, etc. as its been quite awhile since Ive been to that section of their site. So I would just go there and try and do a search for it and see what you can come up with.

Hi,

I was hoping someone knowledgeable would be able to help me with a problem i am experiencing. I work in a IT department looking after a rather large enterprise environment. I have a particular user that has managed to upgrade his browser to IE11.

Whilst IE11 functions fine it is not compatible with a number or applications we use in the company, and i therefore need to get the browser back down to IE9.

I have tried all manor of things from manual uninstall, uninstall from the command line, removing IE11 security updates from the command line, i have also been logged in as local admin and domain admin and for the life of me cannot get is uninstalled, when uninstalling manually all that happens is " An error has occured. Not all of the updates were successfully installed"

When using the command line i don't get errors but equally it also doesn't uninstall the application.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

A:Unable to uninstall Internet Explorer 11

You can run IE11 in compatibility mode. Have you tried that?

Also, I don't know if what you have done already has modified the normal rollback process for Internet Explorer because it is a "feature" that is updated through Windows Update.

To rollback to a previous version, you simply unchecked IE11 on the Feature window from the Programs and Features control panel. (The features are accessed in the left pane.)

I have a VIRUS called antivirus xp 2008What you need to do is get rid of that, and you may want to post your question in the HiJackThis Forum with a log file from Hijack This for instructions on how to remove the virus.

I am unable to print things off of the web using Internet Explorer. My printer works fine when I print word documents but if I want to print a webpage (for University) it won't even respond. At first I never had the little "Print" button on Internet Explorer, so I customized it, placed it there, and rebooted....and nothing. I also tried to go to File-->Print....and nothing. Any ideas?

Your help is always appreciated! THANKS!
