windows xp/email not sending

Q: windows xp/email not sending

hello all... I'm trying to switch out an old pc with a new one on a small LAN for a family business. The business is very small so we have use a pop email for external and exchange server for internal. The new pc we got is running windows xp, and it the first on the network running that. When I try to create an email to send it appears as if it goes, but never reaches the end user. Internal emails via exchange go to each other and oddly replies or forwards to exteral email go, but not when I create a new email... any thoughts? thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I use Outlook for email, from Office 2007 Professional because the accounting program and my Palm Pro PDA likes it.

Just recently I have had a couple of complaints that emails with a video attached I have forwarded have been delivered to the addressee in excess of 30 or 40 times.

The latest was last night when one of my sons said he had received it 104 times, and another friend in the USA 99 times, needless to say both aren't happy, the video was a wmv (3mb).

When my son called me a an hour or so later it was still in my outgoing mail box, obviously because it was still sending.

I have run full AV scan using Esset Nod32 which came up clean, so I’m at a loss where else the problem is or where/what to look for.

Thanks for reading…..Any clues/help would be appreciated.

Has anyone heard of an issue where an email created in Access won't send through outlook when it's pulled up in Windows 10, but will work when it's pulled up in Windows 7?

This access database has worked for years, and worked up until this week in Windows 10. I'm still in Windows 7, so when I pulled it up, it worked just fine. We're both using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013, but the two other people that use the database are both on Windows 10.

My Windows Live mail was working fine until about a month ago. I can still send regular emails, but my group contacts will leave out some of the contacts. I thought maybe it happened when I downloaded a critical update from Windows 7. I have deleted Windows Live Mail and redownloaded it. I have renamed my groups and entered the names in the new group and then deleted the old one. I have some groups as large as 50 and some as small as 6 and it happens in all of them. I can't use system restore because there is not a restore point between the time I got a new router and modem and when I started having problems. I have talked to two techs at AT&T, two from iYogi, 2 friends and no one has been able to help me. I have received no error messages. I am not sending spam. I am a volunteer for a non-profit organization and I have to send messages to them periodically. This is driving me crazy. Can anyone please help. Thanks.

A:Problems with sending email to my groups in Windows Live Mail and Windows 7

I also had names dropped when I used groups. The first time I noticed the problem is when I used a goup in the bcc with no other addresses. I received an error saying I must add a name. I started to check the Outbox copy of pending emails and noticed that in some other groups only a few of the names were listed in the To box. I had updated Live a few weeks ago to 2012 Build 16.4.3505.09012 on 2 computers. Both began to have the group problem. I restored one computer and am now running 2011 Build 15.4.3555.0308 and groups work fine. I haven't restored the other computer and was hoping to find a post of a MS fix to the problem. I will probably try to update Live Mail on the 2nd computer if a newer version is available.

According to the Mail App 'What's New' details, it says the following:

What's new in Mail and Calendar for Windows 10

New features in the latest update:
- Send email from Outlook.com aliases
- Open & save Calendar .ics attachments in email
- See multiple upcoming events on the wide Calendar live tile
- Drag and drop calendar events to reschedule them (PC only)
- Print Month view in Calendar
- Use Mail and Calendar on HoloLens

According to the details it should work, however, it doesn't work for me. Are there any non-insiders who can clarify whether they're able to send email from an Outlook.com alias in their desktop Mail App?

It works OK for me on Windows 10 Mobile, however I'm not seeing any drop-down box in the desktop app.

PC: HP G60 with Vista (32 bit)

I am supposed to be able to send email messages with attachments with a maximum 19 MB limit but I have been getting an error message "This message wasn't delivered because it's too large. The limit is 19 MB. This message is 25 MB." In fact the attachment capacity was 18 MB for that particular email message. I also received similar error messages for attachments on email messages that I sent with 16 and 17 MB.

The messages that did go through without any problem had atachments with 8, 10 and 11 MB.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem. Otherwise, I will have to divide the attachments to lower the MB capacity in order for them to go through.

Thank you.

Hi folks,

Every few weeks I have to send an email for a prescription request and it is always the same email. When I need to re-send I create a new email, add the address that has been saved in my contacts, type in the subject, and then copy the text from my previous email, which is in the Sent folder and then paste this text in the New Email and send. Is there a quicker method where I can resend an email from my Sent folder without buggering about with the above method?

The quickest way I know is to hit "Forward", change the "Fw:" to "Re:", delete the old header that appears at the top of the message body, and enter the address from your contacts list via the "To" button.

I store and view pictures on my computer with "Windows Live Photo Gallery" (WLFG) and do email with "Outlook", which is selected as my email program of choice. In fact, I don't have any other email programs on my machine.

If I select pictures from my files, there is a button on WLFG which says "email". When you press it, a window comes up headed "Preparing files" and you then chose the file size and press "attach", when the file/s are supposedly attached to a new email ready for sending. This is what I gather from the help file. However, the new email is nowhere to be found. I have searched for it in Outlook, and in WLFG, but it seems it has never been created.

Any ideas?

Intermittently, Outlook 2007 will crash while sending an email and, needless to say, the email is not sent. However I wanted to know if there is a temp or backup copy of that mail anywhere. I've looked in drafts and it's not there.

i have been trying to fix my email/outlook spam issue.  emails are going out WITH my actual email address, sending emails to people in my contacts, etc.
I also have been getting a ton of spam emails myself.
I use:
-Windows 7 Pro

-Outlook 2010
-I have our own domain name email address, that is hosted by Frontier
Odd thing:  I changed my password for my email, but my outlook kept sending/receiving with the old password.
When I tried to update  the new password in outlook (which I verified by using the webmail versus outlook), it would not accept it.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Some people do not receive my email. I had noticed that it seemed to be mail sent to hotmail, but it seems that it is more general than that!

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the email address in the BCC section of Vista email and show only the names? In XP Windows Express, it only showed the names with a semi-colon between names. I've just gotten my new computer (Vista 64 bit) set up with email contacts. When I send BCCs, it lists the name and the email addresses which makes that section very long.

Hi, What i have done to aleviate this problem is when adding contacts to the address book, i have listed a display name. So when sending an email it will only display what you have listed. You can edit the contact in address book by selecting the person, right click, properties, it then will enable you to edit this.

Hope this helped

Hi, and welcome to the board.

- First, set Windows 98 to display three-letter file extensions: Open My Computer, choose View, Folder Options and click the View tab. Deselect the checkmark next to "Hide file extensions for known filetypes." Click OK.

- Click Start, Run, type sendto, and click OK. Windows will open a window titled SendTo.

- Right-click in the SendTo window and select New, Text Document.
Rename the file to Mail Recipient.MAPIMail (copy this exactly).
Close the SendTo window.

Good luck,

Hi there

what email client are you using on both systems, also remember network connections and are you running from SAME computer.

Linux networking in general is superior to Windows but if you are using a decent email client it shouldn't make a huge amount of difference.

Other factors -- what "pre-scans" etc are done by the email client (virus / attachment checking etc), are both set up to use imap / pop3 or going through an Ms Exchange server. Loads of things you need to compare when doing this type of analysis.

Any webmail based client is likely to be hideously slow though when compared with a proper email client on whatever system.

A:sending email to AOL

Hi, AOL email never did work with Outlook Express, I am not sure about Microsoft Outlook that comes with Office, if that is the Outlook you are meaning....

AOL users could not send mail nor get mail through OE, at least back a few years ago they could not, and if AOL was the service provider....there were some utilities that claimed to circumvent this, but I have not used them, and it seemed difficult to install and set these up, I did not bother with it at all.
(Things might be different with AOL mail these days.)
If you typed up a new mail in OE, and tried to send it, you would get an error message...of course, since there usually would have not been any account set up for POP3 mail in or out, no servers to connect to, and since AOL used different types of mail service, no way to get mail into OE.

Getting a Gmail account, free, might be a quicker solution, Gmail is simply great.

You should check out this: Description of Google's Gmail, how it works, privacy, etc...

And also> , take a look at this, it may be the easiest way to do it>

You do still I think have to be invited to Gmail, so if you know someone who has it, they should have invitations to spare...if you want to try it, let us know, I have invitations.

Hi there. I am wondering about the security of sending pictures via email. Example: I have a camera dock and upload pictures from my digital camera into my email and send them to friends. Are the pictures flying around in cyber space. Actually I send pictures of my grandchildren and family and wonder how safe it is to do that. I understand that pictures only come through cyber space, I hope this is the correct term, in number form and not just as a picture and that the only way they can be viewed by another person is if they are stored on a server. I am not really that worried but am curious more than anything. I am no where close to being a computer geek so please tell me in plain english. lol I was in the Air Force several years ago and did punch cards for the huge mainframe computer and I have a desk top PC for email and news but that is it for my huge experience. Thank you for your time. Barbara

A:Sending pictures via email

don't worry about SENDING pictures, only worry about receiving email with an attachment that has an executable file. But if you have an Internet Security program, Virus and Spam checking program that is often updated and have the firewall up, you should be ok.
Reading through the Security forums here will help you to learn a lot and to know what to watch out for.

My OS is Windows XP Home SP2 and I use MSOffice 2003 Outlook for email.

Three weeks ago I had to replace my hdd again (the computer is 4.5 years old) and subsequently re-installed my programs which include MSOffice 2003 and Norton Internet Security 2006. Two weeks ago I began to have difficulty sending emails although I could, and still can, receive them. I contacted my ISP and the support person advised me to adjust some settings in the accounts tab of Office Outlook. This worked for a day or so.

When the same problem recurred I again contacted my ISP and, this time, was advised to delete my account and set up a new one with a new password. I did this but I still couldn't send emails. On this occasion, the last thing the techie said to me was that the ISP was having email server problems.

Then I ran my MSOffice program CD in "detect and repair" mode and was able to send email for a short while. As well, I uninstalled and reinstalled NIS 2006 and this also worked for a day or so. As a last resort, I contacted my ISP again and, this time, was told that NIS was causing the problem and that I should uninstall it and buy the software that the ISP provides (for a monthly fee). I'm hesitant to do this because I'm able to send emails when I first start my computer in the morning and wonder if there isn't another solution to this problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Second. I can't click on a link from an email in outlook express. Any ideas?

I recently signed up for 1nol.com. I didn't want there software cheesing up my system, so I reconfigured my Netscape Communicator and set up my own dialup. Everything works fine - I can browse and receive EMail, however, when I compose a message (or reply to one), a window pops up titled "User Authentication Required". My username is pre-entered in the top box, and I need to enter my password below it. My password is not recognized, even though it is valid for login to the server on dialup. This only happens on 1nol. Is this a glitch caused by my not loaded there cumbersome software? Any tricks to eliminate it would be appreciated.
