I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all
In XP/my old machine, in the audio record mixer I could grab analog audio using line in samling, i.e, I muted the microphone and set the line-in. then, every sound that was going thru my sound card could be captured using any audio grabber software.
My problem now is that in my new machine/ windows 7 / realtek HD, using the control panel-> Hardware and sound-> Manage Audio Devices -> Recording, the line in option cannot be selected because nothing is plugged there.

in W7 I can't select the line in. it says that nothing is plugged
what is wrong?

Many Thanks
ncaster

A:can't select Line in record

Are you trying to record from an external source? For line-in to work, the source needs to be present. However, if it is internally generated sound that you wish to capture, then you need Stereo Mix (often referred to as What U Hear).

I just attended a demo of a front end my company is purchasing where they're using fields that are drop down list boxes from which more than one selection can be made. They were using SQL, but can this be done in Access 2003?

Ideally, I'd like for the users to be able to select multiple people, up to 3, from a table that contains all available people. Then, I'd need to be able to allow queries that can tell when a certain person was chosen, whether they were the only choice for a certain field or not.

Hope that makes sense. Will clarify if needed. If this can be done in Access '03, it would save me lots of time in development.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Multi-select in Access?

It can be done, but I don't think it can be done directly.
It requires VBA code to be able to it.
A Combo Box (drop down) does not have multiple selection, but can be used directly with a query.
A List box has multiple selection but does not appear to interact directly with a query.
So you have to use VBA code to build the SQL for the Query, or use VBA to put the selction in fields that can be used directly with the query.

Hello All

I need a simple XML code to add multiple selections on a survey. The question will ask "What info do you view when visiting our site". I want the user to be able to select more than 1 option. I have searched the web and have not found any help.

Someone else before me created this survey in a webpart in our Sharepoint 2010.

I'm sorry if the title confuses anyone. I don't want a multi select field; I want to display checkboxes and allow the user to select multiple boxes.

Thank you to all who can help me!

Hi

I am using the following code to enable multi select pull down lists in XL2003, but have a group of users requiring this feature in XL97...
Public InActivity As Boolean

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If InActivity Then Exit Sub
InActivity = True
On Error GoTo NonValidatedCell
If Selection.Validation.Type = xlValidateList Then
ColAbs = Target.Column
If ColAbs <> 3 Then GoTo NonValidatedCell
RowAbs = Target.Row
If Sheets("Recreation_Activity").Cells(RowAbs, ColAbs).Value = "Delete Contents" Then
TotalString = ""
Else
Application.Undo
TotalString = Sheets("Recreation_Activity").Cells(RowAbs, ColAbs).Value & ", "
Application.Undo
TotalString = TotalString & Sheets("Recreation_Activity").Cells(RowAbs, ColAbs).Value
End If
If Left(TotalString, 1) = "," Then TotalString = Mid(TotalString, 3)
Sheets("Recreation_Activity").Cells(RowAbs, ColAbs).Value = TotalString
End If
InActivity = False

Exit Sub
NonValidatedCell:
InActivity = False

End Sub
The spreadsheet opens in XL97 without error but you can only select one item from the list...
Selecting a second item just overwrites the first..

Any suggestions??????

Hi,

I am hoping someone here can help me with a macro I am using to allow me to select multiple items from a validation list in MS Excel - see example attached. Both of these I think were from threads here on TechGuy...

The idea in the attached is that in columns A and C I can select multiple items from the validation lists however in Column B the validation list should function as normal (i.e. only allow 1 item to be selected from list).

Here is the code I am using:
Code:
Option Explicit

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim rngDV As Range
Dim oldVal As String
Dim newVal As String
If Target.Count > 1 Then GoTo exitHandler

On Error Resume Next
Set rngDV = Cells.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeAllValidation)
On Error GoTo exitHandler

If rngDV Is Nothing Then GoTo exitHandler

If Intersect(Target, rngDV) Is Nothing Then
'do nothing
Else
Application.EnableEvents = False
newVal = Target.Value
Application.Undo
oldVal = Target.Value
Target.Value = newVal
If Target.Column = 1 Or 3 Then
If oldVal = "" Then
'do nothing
Else
If newVal = "" Then
'do nothing
Else
Target.Value = oldVal _
& ", " & newVal
End If
End If
End If
End If

exitHandler:
Application.EnableEvents = True
End Sub
Where the "If Target.Column = 1 Or 3 Then" determines the columns to operate on.

This works fine if I just opt for ONE column e.g. "If Target.Column = 3 Then... Read more

A:MS Excel - Multi Select Validation List

Hmmm... I THINK I may have found the answer and am using:

"If Target.Column = 1 Or Target.Column = 3" rather than just "If Target.Column = 1 Or 3"

that seems to do the trick... Anything I'm missing?

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me with this little access problem. I have inherited a project that uses access as a reporting tool using linked tables for a SQL database.

I have created 2 forms (header with a detail form imbedded). In the header form there are 2 comboboxes. In the first box you can select the AE Name and that causes the second combobox to list only the sponsor names entered for that AE. After you select the Sponsor Name the following code runs to display that selected sponsor in the embedded detail form.

Private Sub Combo2_AfterUpdate()
' Find the record that matches the control.
Dim rs As Object

Set rs = Me.Recordset.Clone
rs.FindFirst "[SponsorName] = '" & Me![Combo2] & "'"
If rs.NoMatch Then
MsgBox "Not Found", vbOKOnly
Else
Me.Bookmark = rs.Bookmark
End If

Set rs = Nothing

End Sub

It works with only one complication - if there is more than one AE with the same Sponsor Name it picks the first one it comes to - which may not be the right AE and therefore not the right record. Unfortunately, the table that is providing the information does not have one field that is a unique key (or I could use it instead of the sponsor name to findfirst), the key is made up of 4 fields - the AEName, SponsorName, Scenario#,Org#. I would be happy to get the exact record (provide all four pieces of info) or the first record that matches both AEName and SponsorName, but I have had no luck in creating that code.

Hi All,
I have a combo box on a form header that I'd like to set up so the user can select a specific record to be displayed in the form. I have successfully set these up in the past, but recently I added a sub form that required me to change the Record Source of the form so it uses two tables, not one. Since then I noticed my Combo box no longer works. I've searched the internet for specifics on who to fix this but come up short! Any help would be immensely appreciated - I'm so close to finishing the project that I can spit on the finish line!
Here are the deets:

Subform is called 'Company Issue Equipment' --> Data accessed by this form is stored on table 'Company Issue Equipment' --> Primary Key is 'Electronic Equipment ID' (one to one relationship to 'Crew ID')
Currently the record Source on the main form is:
SELECT [Employee Information].*, [Company Issue Equipment].*
FROM [Employee Information] INNER JOIN [Company Issue Equipment] ON [Employee Information].[Crew ID] = [Company Issue Equipment].[Electronic Equipment ID];
I'd like the combo box list to show the following headings: Last Name, First Name, Classification - all found on the 'Employee Information Table' . I currently have a query set up with ... Read more

I have a list with a choice column in SharePoint. It's set to multi select check boxes. But I want the default choice to be blank. Otherwise it automatically selects the first option in my list. Is there a way to do this? I've tried experimenting with blank ASCII characters which I've made work for dropdown lists, but haven't figured out how to do something similar in this situation.

A:SharePoint uncheck multi select by default in list

I would be tempted to make the first option as the word Blank, No Option Selected or something like that.

I added a column with a Choice menu, added 'display choice using check box' (which, by the way, I hate this format). In the type each choice list I made the first one blank and at 'default' value it was blank. When I saved the 'blank choice' went away but default remained blank.

Database created to enter workplan for the Section, which has tables for Staff, Team, Objectives and Activities. Each objective has one or more related activities, and each staff member belongs to only one team. There is an objective form and activities sub-form.

Each activity may have one person, multiple people (same or different teams), an entire team or multiple teams working on it. As such, I added a listbox which is populated by a query which unions the staff and team tables to provide a list of all staff and teams. My desired outcome is twofold:

1) Make selection(s) from the listbox and save to a table (or field?);
2) Be able to reflect the selections when the forms are being browsed.

I have not created the table (or field?) to house the listbox selections yet, since I'm not sure what I'll be saving to it. I will also be generating reports, but I'm hopeful that if the right data is saved this should not be too traumatic.

Hope this isn't too long and I am clear. Any assistance that can be provided will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I'm six hours into Windows 7 on my new Sony Vaio, which is proving... interesting.

One of the taskbar features I used with XP many times every day -- the capacity to select multiple windows in the taskbar by holding down the Control key -- is missing, and I cannot find an equivalent methodology. The Win-Key+Arrow-Keys work for the vertical splitting of two programs. But I don't necessarily want to arrange vertically, or arrange at all (e.g. I may want to select and close three of my eight open windows, or arrange them horizontally). I don't work with "groups" of windows.

I've searched everywhere and tried two softwares (Classic Start Menu and Windows 7 Taskbar Tweaker, both freeware and not without their merit) without any luck.

This feature is so elementary to the way I work that it's a "deal breaker" if not possible on Win 7.

Can anyone help, please?!

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

A:Taskbar Functionality (CTRL+Click to multi-select/manipulate windows)

Best Wishes and hope you find a new work flow.

A:Solved: VB 6 and delete record

Your code is deleting the value within a single field, which replaces it will NULL. As long as the row remains, you will have these NULL fields. If you are trying to delete the entire row, then you want to use the DELETE FROM SQL statement and execute this on the database using the ADO Execute command rather than returning a Recordset.

A:Can't Delete Record in Access

Does the record look corrupted? Do you see funky values?

If you're running 2000, do tools > db utilities > compact and repair. You will prolly get a table called something like CompactErrors, look for it. Then delete it. Then reopen the table, find the record, and you should be able to kill it.

97 is the same, except you need to Repair first and then Compact, not all in one step yet...

Likely, it's trying to display the next record when it deletes this one. Try adding something like goto record 1 (I don't do code, but I know enough to get into trouble) before turning warnings back on.

Hi all,

I have a question.
I'm trying to build a VB script, that can select and delete several lines of text in a word document. The Document is too large to do it by hand (almost 400 pages), but the pieces of text that need to be removed from the document always start with </par> and end with </rubriek>
I made a script to delete the lines containing <par>, but these skip the lines that don't contain this tag, which happens often:

<code>
Sub FindItem1()
Selection.Find.ClearFormatting
With Selection.Find
.Text = "<par>"
.Replacement.Text = ""
.Forward = True
.Wrap = wdFindContinue
.Format = False
.MatchCase = False
.MatchWholeWord = False
.MatchWildcards = False
.MatchSoundsLike = False
.MatchAllWordForms = False
End With
If Selection.Find.Execute Then
Selection.HomeKey Unit:=wdLine
Selection.EndKey Unit:=wdLine, Extend:=wdExtend
Selection.Delete
End If
End Sub
</code>
Does anybody have a better idea than this? I can't immagine that it is very hard to do, I just cant find the appropriate VB code online.

Thanks,
With kind regards,

I have a hire/return form/subform. The form is frmHire, the subform is frmHireSub.
Multiple items can be hired under the same HireID, and I can also return ALL items at once.

But, different items have different hire periods (over night and weekly) so not all items are due back at once.

To be able to see what items are currently on hire, when "Hire" is clicked the records are appended to another table "tblOnHire" and when all items are returned they are deleted from "tblOnHire".

All hire details are retained permanently in tblHire and tblHireDetails. tblHireDetails lists each seperate item that's been hired out and has a yes/no field titled "Returned". There is a yes/no field on frmHireSub which uses the "Returned" field as it's control source.

I tried using a query to delete the record(s) that had "Return" checked on both frmHireSub and tblHireDetails from tblOnHire but neither worked, they returned an error asking for the table to delete from.

How do I delete record(s) from one table, based on check boxes on a form that are based on a table?

Hi,

I am new to access and am struggling on trying to delete a record. Basically, I want the user to select an option from a drop down list (Select_Project_Type_cbx) and then click on a 'Delete' button which will delete the record associated with the drop down option selected.

This is the code I have so far:

Private Sub Delete_Project_Type_btn_Click()
Dim sDeleteRecordSQL As String
sDeleteRecordSQL = "Delete * From Project_Type_tbl " & _
" Where Project_Type_Name.Name = " & Select_Project_Type_cbx.Value
Me.Select_Project_Type_cbx.RowSource = sDeleteRecordSQL
Me.Select_Project_Type_cbx.Requery

End Sub
When the user clicks on the delete button it just removes ALL options from the combo box. Nothing is deleted from the table "Project_Type_tbl".

If someone can point me in the right direction on where I am going wrong here it would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

I would suggest that you test this on a test folder as a quick test to see if this does what you really want. If you do this to the root of a drive, you will not see the option "Include inheritable permissions...."

The user at the start of this video is an admin account named "username" (without a password). Once the standard user logs on, you will see the popup asking for that admin account password.

I can't delete anything off my desktop for about a 5 minute wait time. I can't right click off my desktop either... I can delete in a browser window like text but for files no.

There are 4 rundll.exes in my process window 2 are my user name 2 are system.

There are also randomly named dll files in the windows system32 folder. When I delete them they respawn new randomly named files. Some are the same random names can't be deleted because they are in use...

I tried spybot search & destroy and even started it on boot. Adaware as well. I even noticed last night that some of the random dll files were modified in the future lol. past the current time of day.

i've been relying on going to "internet options","general" and "delete" then ticking all the boxes on that page..i found out that by doing this,my temporary internet file swere NOT being deleted.is this a vista problem? my pc came to a complete sludge of a slow down today and i found that my internet files folder had files going back a year that hadn't been deleted as i've been relying on ticking those boxes..i had tons and tons of and tons of files.i'm wondering if this is the norm and also is it possible that other files are not being deleted when using that method? if so,then i probably have folders that are totally loaded with trash.

I have a dual boot system (2 hard drives) booting Suse and XP and boot up through Suse's built in boot manager which gives me the option of booting to Windows or Linux.

But since I barely ever use Linux I want to delete it off the 2nd drive so I can use it for a storage drive, so I'm wondering how to replace the Windows Master Boot Record so I can just boot into my XP drive. I'm scared that once I delete/reformat the contents of the 2nd hard drive (I'll probably use Partition Magic to do this through my XP drive) that I won't be able to boot XP up anymore. So before I do anything I want to just be able to boot into XP and bypass the linux drive before I delete it to make sure everything is ok.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Thanks.

A:Want to replace Master Boot Record on dual boot system & delete Linux drive

Yeah, if you toast linux then it won't boot up. I had that problem when I used Fedora and got rid of it. Boot from your XP disk and go to the repair console. You can use commands in there to make a new mbr. I can remember the exact command. I think you can type help and that will give you a list of available commands. I think it is "fixboot" or "fixmbr" but I can't remember the exact command.

Hello,

I'm trying to create a menu where there is initially one select box (Funding Group) displayed with approximately 10 options available depending on what's in the database table.

I want another text box (Program) to be displayed, but only where the program codes have a Funding Group that was selected in the first box BUT have no duplicate program codes (see below for explanation).

For instance, there are fund groups A0, B0, C0, etc. The program table in the database might contain some rows that look like this:
Code:
Fund_Group Prog_Code Prog_Descr
A0 101 Fred [so, prog code 101 has more than one fund]
A0 102 Ethel
B0 101 Fred [so, prog code 101 has more than one fund]
C0 203 Ricky
If the user selects Funding Groups A0 and B0, the Program box might initially contain this: [note the funding group and program code are concatenated in the value field --- I'm thinking this will help me determine which ones to add/remove]
Code:
value text
A0~101 101 - Fred
A0~102 102 - Ethel
B0~101 101 - Fred
[Note: the customer doesn't want to see Fred listed twice but I will worry about removing the duplicate entry for program 101 later... right now I'm trying to generate a box that contains only valid entries even if they are duplicated initially]

Whew! I think the functional description of the problem will end up taking more lines than the actual... Read more

I want to use the GoToRecord command to go to a specific record in a form. The problem is this uses an offset or record number. How can i find the record number of a specific record?

What i plan to do is use some code similar to this:

docmd.GoToRecord acDataForm, "FrmComputer", acGoTo, expression

where the expression is the record number of the record 'Computer01' for example.

Hi:

I've created a form in Access-2013 and placed record navigation buttons (using the button wizard) in the footer to allow the user to scroll through the records. They are the usual buttons and function as you would expect:

<< | < | > | >>[/FONT]

Problem is that when a user is on the last record in the table and clicks the ''right" button (in red above), the form displays a blank record. This is normal behavior for Access (as far as I know) and as long as a user enters NO DATA in ANY field, Access does not write the record to the table.

Given that users may be less than astute , I would like to eliminate the possibility of them creating a "blank" record in the table.

Is there anyway to stop this default behavior in Access?

Thanks
RonK

This is probably the most painful issue I have with Windows 10 right now (and likely previous versions as well, but I didn't have a multi-monitor setup back then).

The monitors I have are as follows:
3840x2160 (4K UHD) monitor with preferred DPI: 144 (150%)1920x1080 (Full HD) monitor with preferred DPI: 96 (100%)

Whenever one of these monitors are set as primary, all desktop applications displayed on the secondary monitor (doesn't matter which) has blurry text. Exceptions are the Windows Store Apps like Windows Store and Microsoft Edge, along with the Taskbar/Start Menu, the Taskbar/Start Menu settings screen, the Taskbar context menu, and the desktop context menu which passes the DPI test with flying colours, with crispy text on both monitors (occasionally a DPI switch bug gets in, but I can mostly ignore that). The problem is, as you can probably guess, is that >99% of the applications I use aren't Windows Store Apps.

Here are some screenshots. The "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" text is what the text should look like while the Visual Studio 2015 text is an example of the text most desktop apps get. The blurry image is what happens when the UHD monitor is not the primary monitor.

Note: Both of these screenshots came from the 150% DPI monitor so it's best viewed at that (144) DPI level. The 96 DPI monitor is similarly affected.

Hello everybody,

I'm reletively new on this forum and I've spent a lot of time reading posts here concerning innovative installation methods and various approaches to partitioning. This forum really has some great info and users!

I'm an old school guy going back to the days before PCs even existed. Electronics has always circulated in my bloodstream. I'm an old dog but open to new tricks.

I decided to overhaul my primary workhorse computer (See this thread for full description) by adding an SSD and rearranging my drivespace, as one of my drives was failing. I had an 80GB Vertex2 SSD scavanged from another system and thus I hatched my new partition scheme to use it.

Long story short is that after multiple trials I came to the conclusion the SSD was causing me much trouble, probably failing due to it's age. 80GB was a mighty tight fit anyway to boot 3 operating systems. So today I ordered a new SSD, a low cost 120GB Sandisk Plus from Amazon, paying less than $40 including shipping by using a discount coupon I had.

At this point I'm asking myself whether I should scrap all of the MBR partitioned disks and use only GPT disks. In reading this thread I see it's now possible to boot Windows installed on GPT using a non UEFI, legacy BIOS, which is good b/c that's all my mobo supports. That thread also requires at least a minimal MBR image, be it on a floppy VHD or other virtual image, or via some other clever "trick" to allow either winload.exe or bootmgr to live in... Read more

A:Pros / Cons of Multi-boot, Multi-Disk Partition Scheme With SSD

To the best of my knowledge MBR will work just find for drives smaller than 2 TB.
Drives bigger than that need to be GPT.

A little info from Microsoft.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2581408

Quote:
In order for an operating system to fully support storage devices that have capacities that exceed 2 terabytes (2 TB, or 2 trillion bytes), the device must be initialized by using the GUID partition table (GPT) partitioning scheme. This scheme supports addressing of the full range of storage capacity. If the user intends to start the computer from one of these large disks, the system’s base firmware interface must use the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) and not BIOS.

Hello All,
I have this database I built for all my music CDs. It is searchable by artist, date recorded, venue, city , state, notes and track title. The search works fine but I have one issue. I use a subform for all the track titles and it displays the correct songs for the CD. However, I get a record for each song. So if one CD has 16 songs I get 16 records for that CD. In my sample dB I have 7 CDs but it shows 117 records because that is the sum of all the songs on those 7 CDs. I want it to show only the 7 CD records and not a record for each song and still be searchable. I can make it show the way I want but then I can't search by song title. I attached my condensed database version to look at in case my description seems a bit convoluted. Thanks.

I have a form which has a subform called SearchMainSub with displays data from the following:

Me![SearchMainSub].Form.RecordSource = MyRecordSource

'If no records match criteria, display message and move
'focus to Clear button
'
If Me![SearchMainSub].Form.RecordsetClone.RecordCount = 0 Then
'MsgBox "No Maintenace Records Found", 48, "No Records Found"
Me!Clear.SetFocus
Else
'
'Enable control in detail section

The problem that I am having is that it only displays the first record. I have tired all of the options in the data field for RecordSet Type. It still only displays the first record. Anyone have any ideas? I hope this one is as easy as the other question I asked.
