Hi We have fortten the Bios Password on the companies HP Probook 650, please advise how we go about resetting it. Thanks
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hi, At the password screen, hit enter 3 times - if you receive a 'halt code' , post back with this code. If no code is displayed, you'll need to Contact HP Business support - they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. Hello. My BIOS is password-protected but I do not know the password. I tried to answer a set of security questions provided by HP Spare Key Recovery, but to no avail. Is there a way to reset the password other then clearing the CMOS? I am trying to make a clean Windows 8 installation, but computer refuses to boot from DVD or USB.Thank you.
Try entering a wrong password 3 times & see if you get an error/halt code.If so use the error/halt code on link below to generate a master bios password that may allow entry to the BIOS & you can then change or turn off the password function as you wish.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26983620/Java_Bios/biosunlock.htmlRead other 7 answers
my friend has a sony vaio laptop computer with a pheonix bios,
and has forgotten the bios password and there for cannot boot up the computer.
can anyone help please????
You can clear the bios in two ways; remove the cmos battery or some mb have a jumper to clear cmos without having to remove the battery. If you can enter the bios write down any settings that you may need since your bios will load defaults [and no password].
After doing this you will need to go into the bios and setup time, date, and any other parameters that are necessary for your computer.
I have a user whose son's notebook was stolen and recovered. However, they set the bios password. The code I am given is after 3 attempts is 74853391. Thanks in advance for any help.

My friend just bought a toshiba 490 XCDT laptop at a garage sale for $10.00. The original owner password protected the machine and forgot the password, so when you turn the laptop on it comes up with "password=" and won't allow any other action. I can't Boot from Floppy or CD and I can't enter the BIOS to change the password. I even removed the hard drive with no avail. The only thing I can do so far is update the BIOS by pressing F12 on startup. All other F keys are disabled, Esc and DEL are also disabled. I called toshiba and for $60.00 I can take the laptop to the closest authorized dealer (30 miles away) and they'll remove the password protection. The laptop is a Pentium 2, my friend doesn't mind paying the $60.00 but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions before I make the trip across town.
See if you can clear the BIOS or remove the CMOS battery to clear the BIOS. That should clear the PW.

HP ENVY m6-w103dx x360 Convertible laptop. I don't remember (bios) password. I tried a few things that I read, but did not work. Almost everything I read, didn't say if it was for a laptop, or if it was for a 32 or 64 bit, and I don't want to take it apart/open it without knowing for sure if directions apply to my specific laptop.

Hello 3bdom7sn, Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you. This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and thecode is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case. Please have a look at this link. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/49497-HP-Probook-Elitebook-BIOS-Password-Reset-Utility Replace the BIOS chiphttp://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Elitebook-8470p-8470w-8570p-8570w-8770w-Programmed-Bios-Chip-No-Password-...
