Preferred Solution: The windows expierence index cannot be computed

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am running Windows Experience Index (System Rating), but at the middle when the test running, an error message show "The Windows Experience Index for your system could not be computed" "Could not measure video playback performance"....please, anyone can help me what can  I do..???Sorry for my English...I'm used Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, DDR2 RAM 1GB (Exclude Onboard VGA), OS Windows 7 RC 32-bit, VIA Chrome9 HC IGP - 64MB onboard VGA, Display 1280x1024, and I have free disk space up to 30GB..... And I've been updated all of my driver to the latest version with Windows Update.

A:Windows Experience Index Could not be Computed

Andi, The reason you're seeing this message is because Windows 7 allows for video decoding to be performed by the GPU, but yours is relatively old and does not support the new video acceleration introduced with Windows Vista and Windows 7.-Alex

Hello,

I am using a work provided laptop with Windows 7 Enterprise (64 bit) installed. I booted up my laptop and in was in classic view and my wireless was not working along with some other features too. I right-clicked and went to "Personalize" and then it said "Troubleshoot problems with transparency and other Aero effects". I click on it and go through the troubleshooter and it says under "Problems found" "The Windows Experience Index has not been computed". Then when I got "My Computer" and go into "Properties" I click "System rating is not available" and then "Rate this computer". When I do that I get this below.

" The Windows Experience Index for your system could not be computed. Cannot complete assessment. The assessment or other operation did not complete successfully. This is due to an error being reported from the operating system, driver, or other component. "

I tried booting into 'Safe Mode' but it wouldn't recognize my password, note this a work laptop and it has a password when I boot normally it lets me through and recognizes my password but in 'Safe Mode' it doesn't.

Could I please have some help. Thank you.

P.S I have included an image of the problem I am having. (If you would like the link go to: http://oi57.tinypic.com/14mylxz.jpg)

"Could not measure system memory performance."

So I did something that made something happen again so I need help, again.
I had changed my CPU, motherboard, and RAM; the CPU needed a different socket (2011-3), and so with that new motherboard required different RAM (DDR4)
I'm pretty sure the sudden change in hardware is the cause of this, and a few other things that I'd like to think I had solved by myself.
I have a feeling this is an easy fix, what did I do wrong and what can I do to fix whatever this is?
Thanks in advance.

With all the new hardware did you do a Clean Install of Windows 7?

So I just overclocked my processor a few points, and upon booting up my computer, the Aero theme was 'busted.' I tried running the troubleshoot, which claimed I had no issues.

I opened up the Windows Color option, and was greeted with only a Windows 94 looking theme option. (images below) Everywhere I look has no information on this issue.

I fail to see how overclocking my processor only a little bit would cause this issue. All of my drivers are up to date, my computer can easily handle the small amount of overclocking I did, and windows is up to date.
I tried going to Performance and Information and Tools and using 'Re-run the assessment,' and I get 'The Windows Experience Index for your system could not be computed.'

I run with a NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti and a 990FXA-UD3 motherboard with an AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core Processor now overcloacked to 4.2 GHz with dual monitors.

I have 12 GB of DDR3 RAM and my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Please help.

First of all, X1 Extreme is a good product. However, I was angry about my purchasing expierence on Lenovo. I tried to order a Y740 for my friend and X1 Extreme for myself on Lenovo official site last week. I was stuck on purchase page because my payment is always failed. I tried two of my credit cards and five of my frends' credit cards and none of them works. I contacted Lenovo support and tried to solve it and none of them is helpful. Some one just answered my call and then hung me up! I called Bank of America and confirmed my credit card is working and everthing is fine. I tried at leats ten times on placing the order. They all failed. The expierence is awful and I felt disguisting on Lenovo. X1 Extreme is my only choice because its lightweight so I have to place an order on Amazon and it made my pay extra  300 dollars on this laptop. And my friend gave up Y740 and chose Dell. I think I am gonna chose Dell next time. I owned a lot of Lenovo laptops since I was in school. The product is good and thats the reason why I keep using Lenovo laptops. However I felt very bad this time. X1 Extreme is my last Lenovo laptop and I just wanna complain to Lenovo and ask you please fix your disgusting payment system. Hi,

In the past couple of days i've found that all my e-mails and facebook have been hacked, and seemingly remain hacked even though i've changed all the passwords etc. I've ran a full scan of my Microsoft Security Essentials that has found nothing, but i want to make sure that my computer isn't completely compromised (thus rendering password changes useless). I'm slightly concerned about something called "Nethood" that seems to have appeared on my system, and i don't remember seeing it before.

I just want to say know next to nothing about computers. I have symantec and run scans about every other day. It was fine yesterday. Out of nowhere earlier tonight symantec popped up and said I had 15 trojans. Ran it in save mode and it said the same thing. I downloaded malware bytes it found 5 trojans. I downloaded spybot search and destroy it found a few cookies, no trojans though. Each of the scans said "no possible fixes at this time" about the trojans. Now, I'm not getting redirections, pop-ups, and I haven't noticed my laptop running slower or anything like that, so Im not sure whats going on.Anyway, I saw some forums say this is a good resource. So I ran it and I've attached my log. Thanks.Sorry, here is the loganyone?EDIT: Please be patient. Windows XP (Home Edition) SP3. I have two USB drives (F) & (G) that show up under My Computer or Device Manager that have nothing connected to them.
All other drive letters are correct. Perhaps the individual who owned the computer prior to me had something connected to these. I would like to remove them from the listings. Please advise.

A:Two USB Drives Listed Under My Computed But Nothing Connected

If there is a letter assignment reflected in My Computer...there is a device attached.

What you call "drives"...may be nothing but partitions.

What USB devices do you currently have attached?

No device equals no letter in My Computer, although some attached devices may not be reflected in My Computer (e.g., an unformatted hard drive). If something is reflected as being present when it's not present...you have a problem I have never seen any data on.

Take a look in Disk Managment and see what's reflected there. You might also take a look in Device Manager and see what is reflected there for drives.

Start/Run...type diskmmgmt.msc and hit Enter for Disk Management.

Start/Run...type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter for Device Manaqer.

Also...some card readers may be reflected as multiple drives in My Computer.

If you can't access w/Ubuntu, then it's likely that there's a problem with your hard drive.
Each use of the hard drive increases the chance that you won't recover anything. I'd strongly suggest looking into professional data recovery services - but be aware that they are very, very expensive!

Hard drive error. Left long enough it might boot otherwise I would boot to a live CD and see if you can recover any data, then wipe the disk and test it before using again.

A:the file is possibly corrupt. the file header checksum does not match the computed ch

You need to boot from the CD. Enter BIOS setup and change boot sequence so that the CD/DVD drive is the first boot device. Then you can boot from the recovery CD.

Note, using a recovery CD will erase the entire hard disk and you will lose any documents, emails etc on the hard disk.

So of a game says you need lets say 4.0 windows index exp and i have 4.3 will i run the game good?

Hi all. I hope I'm not duplicating a post here. I did a search and came up empty. My question is this: Has microsoft done away with the index.dat file associated with internet explorer? I've read that it is no longer included. Can someone confirm or deny? I know that IE8 has an inprivate browsing feature which is a great privacy tool. But if your browsing activity is still recorded elsewhere, it sort of defeats the purpose.

Hiyas
After upgrading, I ram WEI. Processor os 5.9, Graphics 5.9, gaming graphics 5.9, hard disk 5.8 (raid sys), memory 5.0
I am using 5-5-5-15 DDR2 mem, 2x1Gb sticks in slots 2 and4. Mobo is a BFG 680i SLI.
Previously when I ran th esame test on the old rig, I was getting 5.9 easily for mem. So, what the hell is going on? It seems a very low rating for what it is. I am not sure if it is a windows thing, or a hardware thing- it is possible a more recent BIOS would make a difference, but I have been unable to locate ANY BIOS updates- BFG pages lead to dead links, as do pretty much every other lead.
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers

If you dont have an SSD the 7.8 was wrong. Any normal HD scores in the 5-6 range. after all 7100 was a release candidate.

Hi All,

I have been trying to install Windows 8 64 bit retail version on my PC for the last 6 hours without success . After the 1st part of the install where you choose the disk and partition to install to, then it copies files etc, the PC does a reboot, which is normal for this part of the install. However, I let the boot sequence continue without selecting dvd of course, then it tries to boot from the hard drive but I get an error.

WD Black 1TB HDD (Unplugged during this install for ease)

I have tried the following:

I replaced the Corsair 4x4GB (16GB) DDR3 1333mhz with a set of 2x4gb (8gb) DDR3 1333mhz Elixir ram from my other machine.
The 64-bit DVD booted all the way to the installer this time with bios in AHCI mode and CD/DVD set to Auto/Non-EFI (1st time it has ever worked). The installation went on without a hitch and rebooted fine without a checksum error and I am now using the install to post this message without problems.

The RAM was the problem all along, although worked fine on Win 7 for a couple of years. Just must not like this new system setup.

I think I know what the problem is. Hopefully, it's just my video card drivers screwing around. If that's the case, I'd just have to enter the OS in safe mode and delete the driver or just format the HDD. The problem is, it won't let me get to any such screen. Got A Virus! My desktop is all white! Desktop Properties will not let me change it. My clock on the lower left is in military time and for example it says " 21:30: VIRUS ALERT! " Start menu was messed up. My computer menu doesn't even show the C: drive. I can only access the C: drive from the run menu. I did the five step process. I did the DSS as well. The DSS didn't post the Extra file, so i could not attach it.

I did attach the Active Scan from the panda software.

Any other information you need let me know?

Hey, i recently built a new computer and fot some reason the WEI seems extremely low.

Its showing 4.8 due to the processor, everything else is fine and above 7.5

System specs
CPU - i5-6600K
MOBO - MSI Z170A M5
RAM - Kingston FuryX 2400Mhz 16GB
GPU - 980ti Xtreme gaming
PSU - EVGA G2 Gold 750W

A:Low Windows Experience Index

I would think that cpu should get at least a 7.6 or 7.7

Are you fully updated, all drivers installed ?

Run WEI again, and again if you have to.

I want to get rid of my Index.dat file. Now, if I delete it, won't it just come back as new logs are created?

I know that in XP you could boot into safe mode and enter the following in a command line:

cd\windows
deltree cookies
exit

But I have been told this doesn't work in WIndows 7.

Is there anyway I can delete my Index.dat and prevent it from ever coming back?

A:Index.dat - Disable in Windows 7?

It is used by Internet Explorer and will be recreated after it is deleted. So one option is to not use IE.

I have just recently helped a friend upgrade his computer to be Windows Vista capable.

One of the upgrades was a nVidia 9600GT graphics card.

Except now the problem is this, even with the newest nVidia drivers installed, the WEI will not score more than 1.0 for Graphics.

The odd thing is it shows the correct driver is installed, but the test is being run using "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter", as show below:

This happens even after a total clean re-install of Windows Vista Home Basic.

Any ideas how to fix this?

After I installed Vista 64 bit with 2x1gb of rams, the Window Experience Index was 5.7 which is determined the lowest factor, in this case, the computing speed. The question is why I later installed another 2x1gb rams which makes the total of 4gb would dropped the index to 5.6? More ram = slow????

A:What's up with the Windows Experience index!

Many systems relax memory timings in order to run with 4-sticks. This is very common of Intel chipset motherboards.

Moreover, memory will run at the speed of your slowest memory. You might want to download and run CPU-Z and have a look at the memory timings for all four slots on it's memory tab. This will tell you what SPD rating your sticks are and if you're now running at higher latency/slower speeds since adding the two new sticks.

Let's see what vista is giving your system:

The Windows Experience Index measures the capability of your computer's hardware and software configuration and expresses this measurement as a number called a base score. A higher base score generally means that your computer will perform better and faster than a computer with a lower base score, especially when performing more advanced and resource-intensive tasks.Click to expand...

Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Performance Information and Tools.
Mine:

Click to Maximize

As you can see, I am running the Japanese version of Vista. The categories are (from top to bottom)

Processor
Ram
Graphics (desktop)
Graphics (gaming)
Primary Hard disk

It gives you an individual score for each category, then your main score is whatever was the lowest of all your categories. My lowest was my CPU score, so my main score equals my CPU score.

My system:
Core 2 Duo 6600
Evga 680i
2Gb Corsair XMS2
7950GT 512mb graphics

Also please note what version of vista you are running, as they have made major changes since the beta versions. Mine is on RC1.

Note: the purpose of this thread is not to compare our systems, but an evaluation of this new "index" system itself. Is it a good system or not.

Microsoft seems to want to simplify things by giving you an easy number. Then when you go to buy software, it wi... Read more

I've made a couple of changes over the time I've had Vista installed on my computer, and just for fun, I was going to re-run the Windows Experience Index test. I went to the Performance Information and Tools section, and there is nothing there. All it says is

"Rate and improve your computer's performance
Not sure where to start? Learn how to improve your computers performance"

None of that is a link to anything else. I didn't really think to look until after this, but it now says my WEI is unrated. Its obviously nothing major that is killing my computer, but its still strange. Any advice on how to fix this? Possibly force Windows to run the test through the run command?

A:windows experience index went down

Hello xbabeoo,

This depends on which hardware subscore dropped.

Most likely, it's due to an updated driver for that item (ex: graphics). Drivers can cause the WEI score for that item to go up and down a tiny bit since the drivers can affect their performance.

Hope this helps some,
Shawn
