Trusted website ads

Q: Trusted website ads

I know that many "clean" sites must include ads in order to be able to support the site, so I wonder:
Is it technologically possible and is it practical for a normally clean website, such as this, to tell me as I login that
1. it has not been hacked by criminals
2. that the ads included for not-logged-in people run on this server and not someplace else, and do not have keyloggers, trojans, viruses, and other crapware in them

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Using Windows 7 Ultimate, have been accessing my trusted banking site for quite a while now using an older version
of IE (not sure which one though). Upgraded to the latest version of IE
When l now login to that site, their top line says that l have logged in, but the body of their screen now says that an error has occurred!
Uninstalled IE 11 which pushed me back to IE8, and that wasn't any better. Reverted back to IE 11.
Go round to a friends house, use their IE (same version), and l can login perfectly?
The only difference is that they are using Windows 10 and a different ISP.
Any ideas 'cos it's driving me nuts!

You follow all the best security practices and heed all the warnings. You only visit web sites that are reputable or recommended by someone you trust. You never open unexpected attachments in email. You have a good anti-virus and anti-malware program installed. But somehow, you ended up with malware anyway. What happened?http://www.wxpnews.com/archives/wxpnews-426-20100420.htmThis is a couple of months old, but it's still valid and useful information. Scroll down to Editor's Corner to read the entire article.

A:Why Did You Get Malware from that (Trusted) Website?

Thanks Bama Belle. That information will never get to old. With today's economy I would bet a dollar to a donuts hole that many companies are cutting back on the people and money they spend on taking care of the security for there web site.

In our 2003 server, internet explorer opens one security window for each website I visit. And I have to move it to trusted websites before it actually opens. Is there anyway I can disable it?

A:[SOLVED] disable IE security trusted website window in 2003 server

You could put in trusted sites as a wildcard which would take care of the whole domain i.e. *.techsupportforum.com. I don't think you mean you want to disable enhanced security, but you can.

I had some viruses, Adaware'd and Spybot'd my rear off and gave up.

I system restored to 2 days ago.

But, every single site I visit shows up as a Trusted site. I deleted ALL my trusted sites via Internet Explorer Options Trusted sites.

A:EVERY website I visit shows as "TRUSTED SITE"

go to here and download 'Hijack This!'.
First make a folder on your computer in my documents called Hijackthis and then Unzip it to that folder.
Then doubleclick the Hijackthis.exe.
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.

I'm a complete novice at technical stuff, so I need some hand-holding and patience. A reader of my website has recently informed me that my "website contains an "HTTP Malicious Javascript Encoder" from brasilianstoree.info. It was blocked by our systems, but it is very nasty and could harm others."

I also discovered today that when my website loaded, it was redirected to AskLots.com, and I think this may be part of the problem. I also think my ftp server was compromised due to an error with WordPress. I was getting a WordPress admin error that my wp-content/backup-db file might be visible to the public, and so it took me a while, but I found the solution to fix that. Having said all this, I'm still getting the site re-direction to AskLots.com. I've run AVG full scan, SpyBot, MalwareBytes, etc., etc., etc., but nothing is found. I've even searched my ftp files for "aff.php" after reading another forum's discussion about the same thing, but it found nothing. I just now downloaded and run Hijack This, and here is my log:

To whom it may concern:My comp has been acting strange for several weeks now. Windows date and time are messed up and refuse to stay corrected when i do fix them. The time and date are always correct but the year constantly reverts back to 2005 after i continuously change it to 2008. Because of this many different websites are not compatible with my IE because they have date sensitive certificates and my IE doesn't like them. I get asked about 5 times per site if it is okay to proceed and it is very annoying. Also I cannot do any online banking because the transactions are date sensitive. Is this a virus/trojan/bug/etc? or is this a hardware issue. My problem sounds very much like a post by Pinky Smalls at this link. I followed his/her protocol and still have had no luck clearing the issue. I tried synchronizing with internet time, but it keeps giving me and error that it is unable to connect. I have already tried replacing my motherboard battery with no help. Perhaps its time for a new mobo? or do you think it is a virus? I'd rather not end up like this guy once i put a new mobo in and infect that one too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. -dodsong

Agreed, it would be useful if the Support search included a link to older model (EOL) support that it doesn't find directly.  I wouldn't call it an error, but it's not a very convenient or informative design
This isn't specific to the X200x models.  Legacy/older models are on the EOL site (if they aren't showing up in Support search):

Hi folks,
I started having this problem sometime in the latter part of 2014. While reading my medical journals and moving on to the next article, the fbi website pops up and supplants my medical journal website. I have to close and log in to my medical website all over again. Sometimes, even that does not work and I cannot get back to my original website anymore on that day. It happens to my PC laptop, my wife's Macbook and even a brand new Macbook Air that I tried out. For some strange reason, it only happens at home on all 3 computers. I don't get this problem reading my Journals in the Hospital where I work. Interestingly, when I go to the park away from my house and activate the mobile hotspot on my handphone and do my journal reading there, it does not happen.( not yet anyway).
I would like to attach a picture of the fbi website for you but I don't see any paperclip icon on the toolbar.
I would really appreciate any help anyone can provide on this matter.
Thank you

A:Trusted- PC

Hello Fred, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has changed it to only being able to remove all "trusted devices" now instead of being able to remove a specific "trusted PC" as before.

If you remove all trusted devices, you would then have to go through the process of having the other PCs added as trusted again.

I have the Windows 8 Consumer build 8250 installed on my Toshiba NETBOOK. Everything is all dandy except certain features on certin websites.
I am unable to actually upload pictures to flickr. Like when I click the "Choose files to upload" nothing happens, no box allowing me to choose the files in explorer appears and nothing happens. I have tired with adblock on and adblock off and it makes no difference. Also when trying to play games within facebook. The games do not load or nothing appears.
Its like as if the adblock is on but there is no adblock on. When right clicking it shows that the flash plugin/extension is running but not the product. This only started when i installed windows 8 consumer. The developer build did not have the issue. I also have tried Chrome, Firefox, and Internet explorer and all errors/issues are reproduced.
Anyone have any ideas?

HELP! & Not the Beatles....another IT guy added a trusted site Internet Options/Security/Trusted Sites with a weird symbol before it. It does not have https:// it's like *. What it is?

A:Trusted Sites

What is the domain of the site? The "*" just means any prefix for a URL on that site would be trusted. I don't like adding entries there as it basically gives them permission to bypass security measures on your computer. This is sometimes done for troubleshooting purposes but I wouldn't leave it that way.

Trusted site: res://ieframe.dll'
Thing is, if I don't click 'Yes' to allow this, I lose Internet access/lose internet connection.

1 Which OS? Windows 10, Linux, Qubes, Whonix etc, or use Whonix inside of Qubes? which the most secure? If Linux which version? How the best to configure it?
2 Then need to install virtual machine on it? which one?
3 Then which third party programs I need on it?
4 What browser to use? If TOR - What’s the best Configuration for TOR browser? As I know just using TOR browser is not enough they still can find you. and Use China server?
5 Need Antivirus? Antispyware? Which one?
I guess that’'s should be enough?

How does an application go from not verified to not trusted. I have a program called setupwizard.exe. It is part of BeyondTV. Recently I installed a quad TV tuner card and ran this program to setup the tuners. The system is a windows 10 clean install. Today I noticed that the other tuner card was not found in device manager. After several attempts I switched the tuner card between PC's. After rebooting both systems the tuner card in each PC was found. I then tried to run the setup program and got the "This app has been blocked for your protection." So this application worked with in the last three weeks. Now it won't run. I then tried to run the setupwizard on the other PC and got the same message. I have a third system running windows 10. This system has been offline for that last couple of weeks. I booted this system up and was able to run the setupwizard with no problem. I then copied the setup wizard from the system that worked and tried to run it on the failing system. It still got blocked. I then tried to reinstall the BeyondTV program and the installer also got the blocked message. I just installed this program two weeks ago.
So the question is what changed. The only thing I can think of is a windows update. in the last two weeks.
When I ran the program on the system that was offline a pop up message asking for permission to run a not verified application. But no the pop up says not trusted.

Hi folks,
I think I have a BIG problem, but I'm too noobish to know for sure.
1. I have 100s to 100s of thousands of files & folders with a unique footprint.
2. Each looks innocent ... at first.
3. Right-click > Properties > Security starts the intrigue
4. System, Adminstrators, and Users have Read & Execute permission; my account does not show up; while TrustedInstaller has Full control. I know -- TI comes from Microsoft (as do some rootkits).
5. Click Advanced > Owner & find that the owner is Administrators, but now I am there as a potential Owner.
6. Click Auditing > Continue to find that a new player (hidden until now) "Everyone" has "Special" access.
7. Double-click Special to learn that Special includes Take ownership & Change permissions (for both Successful & Failed)!
That sounds like an invitation to hackers. Particularly when 1 such file is efsui.exe -- with Encription connections that ransomware loves.
Meanwhile, there are several other unusual footprints that TrustedInstaller produces.
I've spent a full week on this and gained nothing but an acute case of paranoia.
Any advice would be appreciated.

A:Can TrustedInstaller Be Trusted?

Many of the installers out there are junk/nasty installers, it is impossible to differentiate.  What helps a little is to look at the items found in a search and go to the actual vendors site, this is not fool proof!  You must be very diligent watching for obscure boxes or choices within the applets, many are confusing.  You will run into some where you must hit the decline button to get no added junk, I even being very careful still pick up things.

A:ADWCleaner to be trusted?

Hello -
Please read thse details on AdwCleaner -
First your Clean report - (AdwCleaner[S0].txt)
• A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.

• Items that are deleted are then moved to the Quarantine Folder: "C:\AdwCleaner\Quarantine"
• To restore any item that has been deleted (if necessary):
• Go to Tools > Quarantine Manager > check what you want restored > now click on Restore.
AdwCleaner is not a "killer" but a Quarantine Tool ....
If you do not open the program a second time and hit "Uninstall" all items Quarantined still remain -
These can be restored later if you wish.

A friend of mine who has connections in high places told me that some MS updates are part of a DHS Patriot Act directive to discover who is browsing certain websites and read their file information. Although I have nothing to hide, really, I've found that my old 98 2nd Ed. runs better now that I deleted items 903235 and 823559. Of course I ran Adaware after the IE repair to remove the 7 Alexa objects as usual. I really know very little about computers, so am I shooting myself in the foot by doing this? Should I just go ahead and download anything from Windows update? Is there really a chance that my system will be attacked as they say if I ignore these updates? Should I just welcome big brother's post 9-11 Orwellian world? Your thoughts appreciated.

Websites like downoad3k.com, download.com, softpedia.com and others offer hundreds of downloads claiming that the products they are servicing have been tested for viruses, spywares, adwares, backdoors etc. But at the same time, some of them make the "report spyware" option available for users. So are their products to be trusted or not? Has anyone here downloaded a software from these websites and which turned out later to be infected by a spyware or worse?

A:Trusted Websites, Are They Really?

Hi mesmerized.

When downloading anything off the Net, it is up to you to ensure that your personal computer protection is adequate and uptodate.

There are literally hundreds of download sites out there and some are decidedly dodgy. A good first indication is by using SITE ADVISOR or WOT. Reputable sites such as Download.Com, Softpedia, Tucows, MajorGeeks, can generally be trusted to have done their best to ensure that the stuff they host is as safe as can be.

Anyone know of a way to tell UAC that Everything (the search engine) is OK, I trust it, stop prompting me?

A:UAC and trusted programs

Hello BJB,

There's not a safe list available for UAC since that would defeat the security it provides. However, you could use either tutorial below to create an elevated shortcut to run the program that will not give you a UAC prompt when used.

Elevated Program Shortcut without UAC Prompt - Create

Elevated Program Shortcut - Create for Standard User

Hope this helps.

I changed my IE settings and I looked through firefox and I just cant get rid of them they sorta freak me out. I also just noticed AVG got a threat detection when nothing was running, I walked back into the room with my computer and seen AVG had found a virus before I could see even where it was or what it was AVG had closed off the screen. I ran another virus scan with AVG and also ran Malawarebytes just to be on the safe side and nothing came back. When the detection came up there was nothing running on my computer unless you count AVG. No browers or programs.

What happens in IE 11 when a site is added to "Trusted Sites?" The more technical the better.
My problem is I have a site that does not rotate the image in IE11 but only when it is added as a trusted site. It works fine in IE8 without. The function attempting execute is rotateImage(ImgDiv)
Thank you.

Oy, hey there,
Not sure if this belongs under Networking or IIS, it's a bit of both...

I'm mainly wondering how users from a trusted domain are viewed on another, especially in relation to IIS with Integrated Windows Authentication.

Here's the deal, I've got webserver on DomainA.
I've got a user on DomainB.
DomainA trusts DomainB.
DomainB\user wants to use IWA controlled app on DomainA\Webserver.

When DomainB\user accesses a resource on DomainA, is he still viewed as DomainB\user, or is DomainA(anything) associated with that user?

Because for the custom application, which happens to be on the webserver, I need to allow access for each user. So would I simply put DomainB\user? Even though the webserver is on DomainA?

Now to part 2...

Also, I want to use IWA on the webserver on DomainA; will it be able to work with a user account from DomainB?

To put it horribly graphically, I'm trying to do this:
(DomainB: DomainB\user)---using IWA--->(DomainA: Webserver)

Networkingly speaking, is that just impossible?
As far as a user coming in from a trusted domain...does that fall to pieces concerning IWA, causing them to enter a DomainA username\password?

Thanks for convolutedly reading this.

Why do I need permission from trusted installer to do stuff on my own PC,who is this guy and how do I get rid of him

Trusted Installer is the internal "user" account that is active when installing/uninstalling programs. Don't stress about it. It is active ONLY when installing or uninstalling programs.

If you remove it or otherwise disable it, you will no longer be able to install any programs.

Very annoying problem.
XP Pro with IE6 on desktop computer.
Trusted Sites contains: https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov

When ever I go to the following site I get a Security Alert that states that the certificate was issued by a company that I have not chosen to trust...would I like to proceed, or install the certificate. Normally, I just click "YES" to proceed and I get my data. Sometimes I'll re-install the certificate as if it will do any good for next time...but it doesn't.

Here's the URL:

Any ideas of what I can do so that this site is always trusted and I no longer get the Security Alert?

Thanks so much,

A:IE6 trusted certificate

I know that UAC is one more extra level of security, but there is a program that I use often that continually asks me if I should allow it to run or not. IS there not any way that I can make it so that Vista trusts this program (e.g., like it does Word and Excel) and stop asking me this?

A:Set a program as trusted
