Scrambled Noise At Higher Frequencies

Q: Scrambled Noise At Higher Frequencies

Good day Win7 Community,

This is my first post on here, as many users, I come here because I am having an issue.

I bought my new computer at friday.
I began installing my desired programs and games.
But as I progressed I found out something was going on with my sound.

I own a 5.1 surround sound speaker set so I'd like to use it, I believe I have stereo sound on it right now because I want my speakers to have sound all the time instead of having either music or voice-only.

On to the issue;

At first, I used my audio outputs of my motherboard, but that didn't really work well with my speaker set.
So I got my old 5.1 surround card (PCI) out and installed it into my new computer and plugged my speaker set, I could now use all 5 speakers.

I uninstalled the motherboard sound drivers and installed the sound card ones.
Fiddled with the settings the way I like it (sound volumes on each speaker)

I got it all working.. only, with youtube,WMP,VLC Mediaplyer, whatever produces sound.
When a high frequentie sound comes along, it gets scrambled which really ruins my fun of my new computer.

List of hardware/Software:

Motherboard: ASUS P8H67
Sound Card: Trust SC-5100 5.1 Surround Sound Card

Motherboard Sound Drivers: Realtek High Definition Audio Driver

Sound Card Driver: Trust 5.1 Soundcard 14319

I uninstalled Realtek and installed the trust 5.1 sound card drivers.
I tried fiddling with WMP's settings etc. but no luck so far.

I hope someone can assist me in this struggle.

EDIT: It is now occuring 90% of the time on the low-middle frequency.. it's getting on my nerves.

PS. I will be heading off to bed about 5 minutes after this message is posted, it's 4 AM and I've been trying to fix this problem of mine since this morning.

Preferred Solution: Scrambled Noise At Higher Frequencies

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I know its obvious but did you remember to disable the onboard (motherboard) sound chip in the bios?

My Windows 8.1 laptop, fitted with an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN wireless adapter, suddenly stopped automatically connecting to my router a few months ago. I attempted to connect wirelessly to multiple other routers, all to no avail. My laptop could only connect through an ethernet cable/tethered hotspot. I then moved houses and got the internet set up on a new provider and suddenly my laptop could connect wirelessly again! Sadly, after trying to connect to my university's wi-fi, I found out that the laptop wasn't fixed, it was simply able to connect to my new 5Ghz internet but still had trouble connecting to 2.4Ghz access points.

I've tried everything I can to fix this as my laptop is too vital to my studies for me to be without it even for a short period of time, therefore sending it off for diagnostic and repairs is out of the question for now. So far I have tried:

Installing the latest Windows 8.1 drivers for the card (currently on v.
Replacing the wireless card with a new one (same make and model)
A complete, fresh re-installation of Windows 8.1

Running out of ideas on what to try and so turning to the community for help. Even if you're not sure of a fix, determining the problem itself would also be a big help. Thanks much in advance!

A:Laptop can't connect to 2.4Ghz frequencies, only 5Ghz frequencies

Try the latest wireless driver from the laptop manufacturer's web site.

If that doesn't work then try the latest driver directly from Intel's site.

trying to figure out what can cause a computer to freeze when it starts off by making a scrambled noise like the sound of a video tape being rewinded or fast fowarded. The video sometimes jumbles before the freeze too, but most of the time, you just get the *rewind* noise and then it freezes. Any suggestions on what this might indicate? Kinda also sounds like an episode of outer limits when they changing frequencies on something to communicate. What could this be related to? In the beginning, it was followed by bsod, but lately, it's been happening more and at shorter intervals with no bsod. mem tests, hard drive tests and stress test check out fine. thanks for any help or suggestions.

I have this new PC:
CPU: I-5 2500 (without the 'k') @ 3.3Ghz
GPU: ASUS GTX 580 direct cu II overclocked to 878 Mhz
Motherboard: Intel DH67CL
RAM: APACER 8GB DDR3 @ 1333 Mhz

I was trying to play Rome: Total War (a game made way back in 2004) at max settings and at 1600x900 resolution (which is the max resolution of my monitor) and I get an average framerate of 20 fps, often even lower. So I checked GPU usage during the game, turns out it never reached 20%. But when I lowered the graphics settings, the fps immediately jumped to 60. As far as I can tell from task manager, there seems to be high CPU usage during gaming, but it doesn't tell how much exactly. So does this mean higher graphics settings require faster CPU clocks and not just a faster GPU? Or does it just mean there's a stability problem with my PC that's affecting its performance?

A:Do you need higher CPU speed to play at higher graphics settings in games?

What power supply do you have?

I plan to transfer a JPEG to a CF card to take to Wal-Mart to have 5" x 7" prints made. This JPEG was scanned from a 35mm slide and saved as a TIFF. I saved it further as a JPEG in two sizes: 5332 x 3664 and 980 x 673.

If I were to have two 5 x 7's made, one from the larger JPEG and one from the smaller JPEG, would there be a discernible difference in quality between the prints? How about if I were to have two 4 x 6 prints made? Or two 8 x 10s? Wouldn't I be able to tell the difference more in a larger print? It seems to me, theoretically, that a print made from a 5332 x 3664 file would turn out sharper than one made from a 980 x 673 file. However, if I wouldn't be able to tell the difference, then of course I'd prefer working with the smaller files.

A:Does higher resolution (JPEG) result in higher quality prints?

Hi there,
Hope you guys can help with this. Win 7 Ultimate x64. After booting up and working for a while, the keyboard response will slow down (i.e. you type characters and they don't show up on the screen for up to 30 seconds). Same issue with mouse. So I started monitoring the system and discovered that this happens when explorer.exe uses a lot of CPU resources.
On boot-up, explorer.exe is using about 0.5% of CPU. But as time goes on and I keep working, it starts to use more and more CPU. Eventually, it can get up to 35-40%. When it gets high, that is when the keyboard/mouse response slows down. So I tried this: I opened a Notepad window while monitoring explorer.exe CPU usage. Then I started typing random characters very fast. When I do this, explorer CPU usage drops to less than 1% and the keyboard response returns to normal. However, when I stop typing, the explorer.exe CPU usage immediately starts to go up again. Eventually, it becomes unmaneagable, and I have to reboot. I tried ending and restarting explorer.exe but it made no difference.
It would appear that explorer.exe is running some kind of background task which is consuming much more resources than it should.
You Bleeper guys have any good ideas?
Thanks a bunch,

A:Explorer.exe spirals to higher and higher CPU usage

You could try a claen boot to isolate the problem, have you run the disk checker, sometimes fixes this issue.

which in your opinions is better? a higher resolution and lower textures and details or lower resolution, but higher textures and details. the highest resolution i am able to achieve is 1366x768. so nothing past there

A:Higher Resolution or higher texture/detail?

Well to be honest you're making a sacrifice in either scenario.

Is this particular to a game you're playing? If so, what game? If it's a general question I'd have to say higher resolution with lower details etc. because at the very least a higher resolution allows for greater overall detail.

Depending on the game, of course.

Hi, first of all don't complain about my english, im from sweden -.-
You must try to understand what I'm writing..

I'm using Windows XP Pro..

My Explorer.exe is weird, one day the "memory use" started to increase/grow/getting higher.. Normally it takes around 15mb memory but yesterday it increased slowly to 115 and took 95-100 Cpu (!) I Think that something is wrong but what? Ask if there's something I forgot to tell you.. Didn't write much because I don't know anything more about this..

I've been having a problem recently with my volume on my laptop, a HP M6-1125dx. I have noticed that slowly over the course of a few days I have to keep turning the volume up higher and higher to have the same volume come out of the speakers. I used to consistantly be able to keep my volume around 15, but now I''m having to turn it up to 40 or 50 after a few days. It goes back to normal after a restart though (even a 'soft' restart) and then blows out my ears because either I've forgotten to turn it down before restarting or windows did it to me automatically.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? I have no idea where I should start since I couldn't find info of anyone having a similar problem.

A:Volume slowly decreases forcing higher and higher volume settings until restart

See if reinstalling the audio drivers helps.

A:RAM Frequencies Problem

Indeed the board does but as is shown
4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 3866(O.C.)/3733(O.C.)/3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C.)/3333(O.C.)/3300(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2400/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
* Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs.
* Refer to www.asus.com for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists

all except 2400 and 2133 are OC

Your processor
Memory Types DDR4-2133/2400, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.35V
supports those none OC at SPD - serial presence detect

So your ram although I do not know which exact model of Vengeance it is - as explained in your motherboard manual must when OC not only be configured alone for ram but as part of the sophisticated procedure on that motherboard - where if you wish you can simply use the 5 step automated process explained on your manual
Have you checked if your Corsair ram is on the QVL list from Asus
That list cannot of course list all ram that will work with that board, but what is listed has been tested by Asus

This presumes the problem existed - not only on one or two games but across the board

I just purchased a new motherboard, cpu, and memory (wanted to finally switch from AMD)
I purchased the Core 2 Quad 6600, Gigabyte P35-DS3P, and 2x1GB of Ballistix Tracer
I have Windows XP Pro w/ all current updates

The speed of the memory is DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
and my motherboard supports DDR2 1066 and dual channel memory

When I run CPU-Z it says Max Bandwith for each stick is PC2-6400 (400mHz)
The timings are :
Frequency 533mHz, CAS Latency 5

is the frequency correct? it seems slower, i mean my old pc-3200 memory was running at 400mHz CAS latency 2.5.

Just wondering what I would need to change in the BIOS, this mobo's got great OC'ing tools

Thanks for looking appreciate any help!

Is it possible to pick up radio frequencies and interference on computers? I opened my Windows Media Player today and heard, very quietly, a talk radio show and was flabbergasted. It has never, ever, ever happened before. I don't listen to internet radio so I don't know what it could be. Completely dumbfounded over here.

A:Radio frequencies?

Yes, it is possible. Computers are an FCC Class 15, sub-part B product, which means that while they may not cause interference in other products, they must accept any interference caused by something else. That's why your PC can pick up talk radio. You were either picking up a local radio station, or something nearby was radiating that signal.

That's it in layman's terms. You can look up the officialese in your owner's manual if you like.

A couple of months ago, I built a capable gaming rig (E8500, ATi HD4850, 4GB PC-6400 RAM on a Gigabyte EP35-DS3L with Vista x64), and set it up. It was my first time building a computer from scratch on my own, but I made it and recently overclocked my CPU.

I intended to overclock it to 3.6GHz, and it looked like that in the BIOS but using CPU-Z, it reported it at 6 x 380.0 MHz or 2280 MHz. It does change to the 3.6GHz at times in the program, but never in the output file. I'm assuming this is because of some energy saving thing? The mobo did come with an energy saving program, but I disabled it and stopped it from starting on boot, but I guess I may have not gotten rid of it properly.

CPU-Z also reports that my RAM is PC-5300 (333 MHz x 2), even though the RAM was sealed (at least, it looked like it). My CPU-Z output file is attached, if you want to take a look at it.

A:Unsure about CPU and RAM frequencies

Could you post pictures of your BIOS settings? First of all the frequency section... And then of other sections, so we could find the CPU slower option.

The specs of my computer is in my signature. The freq. in which my ram is suppose to run is 1200Mhz. I'm trying to figure out how i can get it to actually run at that speed. When i go into the bios it allows me to either set it to auto or 400, 553, 667, 800, or 1066Mhz but nothing higher. When i set it to auto during startup it says DDR2 667 however when i set it to the 1066Mhz it says DDR2 400 during startup. How do i go about getting it to run faster?

This has been happening for around 3 days. When I start the computer (desktop) up, the rpm is normal but it slowly starts to speed up. After around 5 minutes, the fan starts moving at a average of 4000rpm and it's really starting to worry me.
I thought it might have been something to do with dust inside the heatsink so I cleaned the dust with a vaccum cleaner. After that, it still wouldn't slow down so I changed the thermal paste. It now slows down a bit but still run at the average of 4000rpm.
I also tweaked with the bios a bit but still no luck.

Ever since the first few days , I've been encountering BSOD frequently in every Instance of usage, although the occurrence of them depends on the system load. When the system is in an Idle State, BSOD occurs in 15-45 mins of being idle ; When in moderate use, such as downloading space intensive contents or watching movies it takes 75-90 mins before BSOD happens ; when in heavy use, such as graphics intense gaming or rendering processes, the system runs for about 3-5 Hours before the BSOD occurs. I use Windows 7 x64 as the primary OS and 8.1 is for guest users. I've tried Memtests, HDD tests, Processor Tests, BIOS tests and all turned out positive with flying colors and also tried disconnecting all parts and reconnecting them again, yet BSOD is a common occurrence.  I just bought Lenovo IP510IKB earlier this week, and I really like it, but I think something is wrong with the speakers, when I play music or any kind of audio there is some kind of distortion or vibration at certain frequencies, I don't know how to describe it, it's like there is something vibrating inside the laptop. I tried installing lenovo Harman drivers but the problem is still there, I also tried Windows generic drivers and other softwares like FxSound, but nothing helped, something that I also tried is muting the left speaker and the right speaker, at first I thought muting the left speaker fixed the problem but after a while I noticed the same distortion but not as much. I tried living with this annoying problem as it's not always there, but it really appear when listening to piano, but I can't live with it anymore it's driving me crazy and I can't find any related topics about this problem in the IP510IKB. I live in Egypt and I bought this laptop from souq.com (something like amazon.com) about a week ago, and I don't think I will be able to return it, is it even something that the warranty covers?

Can someone settle an arguement I'm having with my Nephew. He says that the default clock settings of my GeForce 3 card are too low. At the moment they are 175 Core Clock Frequency and 400 Memory Clock Frequency. We've looked at specifications for this card on the web and in the manual but both have not provided us with an answer. If someone could clear this up for us or provide me with a link that would tell me then I would really appreciate it.

A:ASUS V8200 T2 Deluxe Default Clock Frequencies?

That's the correct clock rate for the card. Around page 4 of theis review you can see in the graphs the base clock and some overclocking benchmark results.

here is a page that shows the standard clockrate.

175/400 seems to be the standard clockrate on most GF3 TI200s. Do a Google search for "TI200 review" and you'll see. I think your nephew owes you lunch or something.

It helps if we know...what you have tried.Display problems (logically) only have two possible sources...the monitor and the video card/chip.It seems very odd that display problems of this sort...would be restricted to online behavior, IMO.Have you checked Event Viewer for possible clues? How To Use Event Viewer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/40108/how-to-use-event-viewer/ Louis

I have a very weird problem. I have a report that is malfunctioning. A SQL statement is pulling data from my DB and is being "Grouped By" city. All of the cities totals are perfect, except one (Des Moines). It is listed twice in the recordset, despite being spelled exactly the same. There is one city that has been omitted from the dataset (Los Angeles). The data is weekly totals broken down week to week. Upon closer review, I found that the first 2 weeks of both Des Moines rows are identical and are the actual correct numbers for Des Moines. But weeks 3 and 4 are different when comparing the 2 Des Moines rows. The second Des Moines row has totals that actually match the Los Angeles data in weeks 3 and 4. The same SQL statement is pulling the data for all cities and the table is being populated dynamically from the SQL statement. Does anyone have any idea why the data might be getting scrambled? [File is attached]

Hello everyone.
I just bought myself a new desktop, with following configuration
1. Motherboard Asus B85m-g
2. Intel I5 4590
3. Video card Sapphire Radeon R9 280 3g GDDR5 384 bit Dual-x Boost OC
4.Memory Corsair Vengeance 2x 4096 1600 Mhz
5. HDD seagate 1 TB and SSD Kingston 120 GB
I use both DVI slot and HDMI slots for video cards with 1 Samsung monitor and 1 samsung big lcd screen as secondary display.

I have the following problem with my pc:
Each time I start the PC FRESH, after about 2 minutes my image gets scrambled like in the uploaded picture.
The weird part is that it does this only once (maximum twice) when I start my PC fresh.By fresh I mean like after it hasn't been used for at least a few hours. After this happens, I have to reset my PC and then it won't happen anymore for no matter how long I use the pc, until I shut it down and I start it like next day again
Thinking at this, my belive is that it does this because of the videocard when it is COLD, when it gets a little HOT it will not do this anymore.
Can anyone help me solve this problem?
Thank you !

How is it that IE8 will bring up Liveleak.com with the headlines and sentences all overlapped? I can go in here with Opera or Firefox and there is no problem. But IE8 makes it so one can barely read what's there.
I've tried the Compatibility View Settings but to no avail. I've tried to upload a screenshot of it, so let's see whether I'm successful at that.

The site is http://liveleak.com/

Hi. My first post. It's good to join you all here. I hope someone can help me.

Memory: 4GB RAM
Comp: Dell XPS 400
OS: XP Home SP3
Video: nvidia GEForce 7300 LE
CPU: Pentium D

I reinstalled my computer about four months ago. Ever since then I've had issues with IE8. All other browsers work fine. The screen will suddenly start to scramble. It work fine at first, like right now... evertyhing looks fine. Then all of a sudden it starts to break.

I have the nvidia driver installed, and I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE8 and resetting settings. Nothing seems to help. Interestingly, some CSS3 doesn't seem to work now like it did before. Like if click on a form field it won't change color. It did before.

Here is the screen shot:

As I write this the screen has started to go funny again. It even blinks a bit. Notice up above the address bar way up top.

I posted the following post in the Other Hardware thread, but I am moving it here:

I've had an intermittent problem for some time now involving the keyboard going nuts and converting what I type to seemingly random characters. I've done Google searches, and have searched here in this forum, but all of the information has been unhelpful. I have checked my keyboard settings and my regional settings, and they are all OK. Caps Lock and Num Lock are not involved. I've run various virus and spyware scans. So, here is some information about what is happening.

This is a desktop system, and a Logitec wireless keyboard. I have verified that the problem still occurs with a wired Microsoft keyboard. The problem only occurs after the computer has been on for some time, and seems to occur most often after the computer has been idle for a long period of time.

This problem occurred when I was running Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate, and is still occurring now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

There has been times when the problem is exhibited in some applications, but not all, and times when all applications are impacted. Occasionally shutting down the affected application and starting it again fixes the problem, but most often a complete reboot is necessary.

This has occurred in Word, in Outlook, in IE, and even in the Start Menu command box. Any text entry location, including dialogue boxes, fields on browser forms, address bars i... Read more

XP sp3 running on dell 6400 laptop.

I am trying to transfer an audio book to an sd card and need to keep the files in order. Periodically one or two files are sent out of sequence. Since my player plays files in the order they were sent, this is unacceptable. Is there any way that I can force the order files are sent?

Thank You.

A:Scrambled Folders

I believe you mean to say the player plays the file in the order on the sd card.

What order they are transferred in does not matter. It is how they are stored that make the difference.

Can you manually rearraign them on the SD card the way you want?
