Should i uninstall Office 2007 before installing Office 365

Q: Should i uninstall Office 2007 before installing Office 365

I have Office 2007 installed on my PC and will be installing Office 365. Would it be best to uninstall the previous version before installing Office 365? What will happen to all of my Word and Excel Files? I will back up the important files to a thumb drive but how will the files integrate into the newer version of Office? I am running Windows 10 and have no problems at all with the system.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated...Thank you in advance. Cheers and beers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought a new computer with a trial version of office 2010 installed but not activated. I all ready have 2007 and I installed it. Will I have a problem if I uninstall the trial version (2010)?

A:Can I uninstall office trial 2010 after installing 2007?

I would remove one of the versions before installing the other, but it sounds like you already installed both. You may or may not have problems, but if you do you can always reinstall the activated one (2007) with your CD and activate it again.

Let me know if you have problems reinstalling or uninstalling the office software

Hey guys, my wife is taking a course that requires her to install Office 2010. The issue is that she wants to preserve her current setup which includes Office 2003 and 2007 existing side-by-side on her Windows 7 (64-bit Home Edition) notebook.
The 2003/2007 setup is not one that she really wants to mess with (i.e., she has no interest whatsoever in uninstalling the two Office suites that she currently has), so ideally she would like to have Office 2010 installed temporarily (for the duration of her course) on the machine without interfering with the current setup.
What is the most painless way of doing this that does not involve shelling out for a second computer?

A:Installing Office 2010 on a machine with Office 2003/2007

Hi, welcome to the forum,
I had a similar situation here but in the end I opted out.

I removed both Office 2003 and 2007 and installed 2010, I then used virtual XP and installed 2003 there, 2007 and 2010 are too similar and the dll's will 'bite' along the way.

Even my 2003 and 2007 gave me issues after some time.

Have you checekd what the Microsoft Support site says?

I purcased MS OFiice 2010 Professional through the MS Home Use Program to replace MS Office 2007.

I received the link and product key via e-mail; I've ordered the CD's but they won't arrive for another 2 weeks.

Several posts indicated that I should uninstall the 2007 version, then install the 2010 version. If I do that, I won't have access to the e-mail for the download.

Should i just install 2010 over 2007, or wait for the CD's?

Wait for the DVD, or download the ISO then write it to DVD for installation. After installation, activate it with the licence key you purchased.

Originally, I had Office 2003 installed in my computer, & a trial version of 2007 that had already expired.
Today I installed a full version of Microsoft Office 2007, without removing any of the other two versions from my computer. I realized that it seemed to automatically remove the older version. I`m not bother about it not being there, as I got the new version, but I wonder if this is an automatic uninstalling that Office does, or if the version is still there but I can`t see it, as I would like to remove it properly if it`s still somewhere in my computer.
I checked in Control Panel & the only thing I can see is "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007", the full version I just installed, & everything that come with it. No 2003 anywhere.
Does this mean 2003 is fully uninstalled?
Thanks a lot!!

A:My office 2003 disappeared after installing office 2007

You can check to see if it is fully uninstalled (I am sure that it is) by going to search and typing the name there. If it is still present, the program will appear.

Worst case scenario, just remanants will remain. Download and use ccleaner. If you run this software, you can be certain that 2003 has gone to software heaven.

If given the option not to use the reg cleaner inculuded in ccleaner take it. I and many others at the forum feel that reg cleaners do more harm than good.

There are two discs, one called "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007" and the other one called "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Microsoft Office Communicator 2007". I'm guessing that the disk with the shorter title "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007" would be the correct one to install. What is the second disk with Communicator? A:Installing Office 2007 over Office XP

When you install Office 2007, it will find Office XP and ask if you want to replace it. If you say "no," it will install 2007 in a different directory, keeping both versions of Office with one exception. You cannot have more than one version of Outlook, so regardless of what you choose, Outlook will be replaced.

Several years ago, I purchased an Acer Veriton M2 computer which came with Windows 7 Professional and Microsoft Office 2007 preinstalled. I use Apache Open Office because it meets all of my needs, and I don't want to pay for Microsoft Office. I want to uninstall the preloaded Microsoft Office from the computer, but I'm not sure that this is as straigntforward as I had hoped. Looking in the Control Panel under Programs and Features there isn't an item listed like "Microsoft Office 2007". Instead, there are a number of programs with Microsoft Office in their names:
2007 Microsoft Office System
Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components
Microsoft Office 2007 Preliminary Interop Assemblies
Microsoft Office File Validation Add-In
Microsoft Office Outlook Connector
Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components
Microsoft Office Suite Activation Assistant
Can I safely Uninstall each of these Programs individually, or can I expect all of them to go away if I Uninstall "2007 Microsoft Office System", for instance?
Thanks for the help.

I really don't like Microsoft Office 2007, and I would like to uninstall it and go back to my Office 2003, but every time I try to uninstall it, I get this error message: "Setup is preparing the files needed for uninstall," but then it proceeds to say: "Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. A:Can't Uninstall MS Office 2007

you could always delete all the files and then use a registry cleaner to remove the registry entries although being a microsoft product it probably wont be that easy.

The problem is that with a lot of software, the product key seems to remain present on the pc so when the program is reinstalled it doesnt need to be entered. whether or not this is the case with office i dont know.

do you have the original windows disk?

When I try to open a 2007 Word or Excel document I recieve as an attachment in Outlook 2003, I get the following message:
"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". Office 2007 compatibility pack was installed and it still did not work.

I then uninstalled Office 2003, uninstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack and then I ran CCleaner to clean up the registry. I updated my OS (currently has Windows XP SP3) with all updates, reinstalled Office 2003, installed Office 2003 SP 3 and then reinstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack.

I still get the same message when I try to open an Office 2007 attachment in Outlook 2003.

OS is Windows XP SP3 fully updated
Office 2003 SP 3 fully updated

Any suggestions?

Dear Tech Support Guy,

I need to uninstall Office 2007 and reinstall my Office XP Standard on my new 'puter with Vista. Do I need to save the files in My Documents somewhere else for safety or is that an issue? Will this cause problems?

Also, I need to leave my Outlook 2007 on the machine (added on at great expense and trouble, so I don't want to change it). Will I have problems doing so? I notice that Office XP has MS Outlook in the package. Will I need to automatically load it or will I have chance to have it not load? It has been a few years since I used the install program.

I can't screw up here because we need this computer for school grades and creating homework for our students.

You may need to uninstall the 2003 version first. You might need to try a reinstall of the trial version also and then uninstall it. When you have both properly removed, then do the 2003 install again.

Dear All,

I have had Office Ultimate 2007 until recently when I upgraded to Office Professional 2010 (after I went from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate).

During the office 2010 installation (or I don't remember exactly if I upgraded) I remember having the option to uninstall previous version' or something like that. I am not really sure.

In any case, the Office 2010 installation went on well and everything is working fine.

I am just wondering why I still keep seeing the Office 2007 entry (along with the language pack I'd got with that) still?

Should I go ahead and completely remove it using the add/remove program' feature?

Or should I just leave it at that if there are some files / folders, etc that are being used by Office 2010 as well?

And if I have to (or if I can safely) remove Office 2007, can someone please confirm the best way to do it? (of course, I have seen numerous posts and info on the web about how to uninstall office 2007, but I just didn't find anything specific to a situation where I am seeing both Office 2007 / Office 2010 together!).

Many thanks in advance.

A:Completely uninstall office 2007

Except for Outlook both can be installed and won't conflict. But if you are no longer using 2007, just uninstall it using the Windows uninstall a program and you should not have any problems. I had the trial version of 2010 installed with my Office 2003 and they did not conflict and nothing from 2003 was used in 2010, they were totally separate.

I've had the Beta version of Office installed for sometime now. What I didn't realise is that today (1 Feb 2007) is the cut off day for it, and when arriving in the office this morning realised that it isn't working anymore, and says that I must uninstall.

So we have the Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 dvd here, but when inserting that, it tells me I have to uninstall Beta first (can't understand why it doesn't just upgrage.. grrr..)

Now the problem - when trying to remove 2007 Beta through add/remove programs, it goes through a whole process, but then at the end comes up with the following error:

Seems simple enough right? Firstly, the file it tells you to read up on doesn't actually exist anywhere on my pc. Secondly, I seems to have all the appropriate permissions available.

After rebooting and this message coming up numerous times, I decided to try install 2003 and see if that would work. Well, it installed, but now there's major conflict errors, so I tried to uninstall 2003, and surprise surprise - I got the exact same error message:

SO we tried a system restore, but that didn't work. So last resort was to go in cowboy style and delete the regustry entries, and all the files and folders relating to office.

Didn't work either. It still shows as being there in Add/Remove Programs, and keeps showing the same uninstall errors when trying to uninstall.

I'm using Win7 Professional with Office10. I needed to use Publisher and had an old copy I bought years ago. So installed Publisher 2007 and along with it came Outlook 2007, Word 2007, etc.

I brought up Control Panel to delete these old versions before they created problems with the newer versions that I use in Office 10.

But Control Panel will not deleted these individually. It only gives me the choice of deleting the whole Office 2007.

My question is how can I uninstall all of the Office 2007 programs; except Publisher 2007?

(Already this is causing a problem; my Outlook 2010 won't run until it is finishes "an Upgrade in Progress" which it says could take a long time.)

I have the full version of Microsoft Office 2003. My Microsoft Office 2007 has expired (the 6 month trial that came with my computer). Is there any reason I should not uninstal the 2007 version? I.e., would there be some documents that I would not be able to open in the older (2003) version of Office?

My main reason for wanting to delete Office 2007 is that when I attempt to open a file my computer tries to open it using Microsoft Office Picture Manager 2007. I am confident that I did not create these documents in the program, but rather in Word 2003. Will deleting Office 2007 solve this issue?

Read a few threads about this but can't find a fix. Trying to install Office Home and Student 2007. I enter the Product Key and begin. The Installation Progress box appears but makes no progress. After about 30 seconds, a new box appears with the following:

Microsoft Office Home and Student Setup has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
[Close Program]

I've tried browsing the CD and right-clicking the setup icon and using the 'Troubleshoot Compatibility' feature to run the program through all Service Pack modes for XP and Vista, but the same problem occurs every time.

How can I get Microsoft to stop fighting with its own program and install?

A friend of mine has just lend me Microsoft Word. His CD is licenced for 3 computers, but he`s not sure whether he`s used the 3 already or not.
I have the Office 07 trial installed in my computer. My question is: Do I need to uninstall Office`s trial version from my computer before I attempt to install my friend`s Office CD? I would prefer not to uninstall it, because if my friend`s 3 computer licence has expired, & I have already uninstalled my trial version, then I`m stuck, & I won`t have even a trial period left on my computer, which is useful to open certain Powerpoint, Word files, even if I can`t create new ones.
Can I go ahead & install my friends Office Cd without unistalling my trial version?

I don't know for sure but it might be possible, you will need the product key during the install and I would imagine if it had already been used the 3 times you would not be able to continue with the install.

Don't forget to make a restore point before doing anything, you could also make an image of your system then if it didn't work you could restore the image and be back where you were before starting the install.

Those are my thoughts I don't know if they are any use to you, please let us know what happens if you do decide to go ahead.

Dear all,
I am getting a very strange error when I try to install office 2007, running vista home premium service pack 1. - see attached screen shot.
I can't find any information about others having similar troubles - does anyone have any idea? The installation gets anywhere from 1/3 of the way through, to almost complete before this error (or other similar ones) come up and the install crashes.

Someone had this same error message during install and in this link here is how they resolved it:

I have this really serious problem with my computer which apparently can't be fixed so I need to re-install vista. I already have Microsoft Office 2007 installed and I was wondering whether I would be able to re-install Office again back onto the same computer without losing 1 of my 3 available computers which the program can be installed on?

A:Re-installing Office 2007

That is no problem. I have done that several times - on 3 systems with 1 license (which is good for 3 systems).

Is there any particular order I have to follow to remove the programs to uninstall Microsoft Office Professional Hybrid 2007 - trial?

Many thanks

Yes, you do need to remove any add-ons first before removing the main Office System.

I just got a new laptop with the Office 60 day free trial installed.

I bought a new Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Product Upgrade License from DRI, Microsoft's reseller. This did not come with any media.

When I go to the Activation wizard to enter the new product key, I get the following error:

"The key is incorrect. Verify that you have the correct key and then retype it."

The key is entered correctly.

Do I need actual media to load this upgrade? If so, what do I need?

I even installed Office 2000, then tried to install 2007 using media I had from another installation. I entered the new product key, but got the same error.

Any ideas?
